The Theological Anthropology of Dobbs: Women in Service to White Nationalism

Précis: In 2022, the Supreme Court of the United States decided Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization and overturned Roe v. Wade, ending federal protection for the rights of people who are pregnant to obtain an abortion. Discussions of abortion in the United States are, and always have been, bound up with issues of gender, race, and ethnicity. The Dobbs decision is the latest in a long history of U.S. policies that manipulate reproduction in order to maintain white dominance. In the same logic as military service, people who can become pregnant are now being required to sacrifice themselves, not for the possible individual embryo or fetus they might carry, but rather for the nation. They are conscripted into service of a particular vision of the United States as a white nation. This universal, enforced availability for service truncates the status of women, rendering us less than fully human.

Specialist Financial Counseling for Women Affected by Domestic and Family Violence: Staff and Client Perspectives on an Australian Initiative.

This article examines staff and client perspectives on an initiative providing co-located specialist Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) financial counseling in women's legal services. An exploratory mixed-method study in five service locations captured perspectives via a client survey (n = 42), online interviews with staff (n = 15), and a review of services' progress reports. For staff and clients, integrating financial counseling into women's legal services contributed to a more comprehensive model of support which helped address the economic harms associated with violence. Findings highlight the benefits of service integration and co-location, which enabled staff to share knowledge and build capacity, and helped improve outcomes for women following violence.

Community Gynaecology Service Oxfordshire: How a local women's health hub improved access to menopause care.

The Women's Health Strategy 2022 aims to improve access to Women's Healthcare needs, with menopause care being a key component to optimise. This strategy encourages the 'expansion of women's health hubs around the country and other models of "one-stop clinics," bringing essential women's services together to support women'.1 A service evaluation was completed at a local women's health hub in Oxfordshire to review referrals for specialist menopause care. The hub managed 75.1% (970/1291) of referrals in-house at the point of triage. Of these 970 menopause consultations, 10.7% (104/970) were referred onwards for secondary care management, with the remainder 89.3% (866/970) managed within the women's health hub. The service evaluation shows successful application of a local women's health hub in improving access to menopause care.

The problem in this research is legal protection on children suffering toxic parenting in the Labuhanbatu district in the perspective of Islamic law. The type of research in this study is field research, using qualitative approaches, the primary data source of children to experience toxic parenting in the family in 2021-2022 and the caretaker of the women and child protection services (DPPPA), A secondary source of data consists of books, journals, and documents related to the study. The data-gathering techniques used are interviews, observations, and documentation. The data-analysis techniques use qualitative descriptive. That the protection of law in labuhanbatu district is good enough because there is an institution that serves to protect children: the women's protection and child protection service (DPPPA), by performing socialization, and protecting children by providing mediation services, legal aid, and psychological recovery, according to the 2014 35th act on child protection, while it is the perspective of Islamic law that children should be protected from all that could lead to the exclusion of children's rights, Like the one in QS. At-Tahrim: 66, which is the right to an education, a living, protection, and nurturing, and hampering growth of children, for in the perspective of Islamic law the violent behaviour of children is strictly prohibited except in education and worship, it should fit within some provisions, it is according to Ahmad bin Hanbal that the Prophet SAW forbids such violence as beating and educating children, And also, in the opinion of clerics educating children with violence, is not recommended according to dalil-dalil, both the Qur'an and As-Sunnah. Therefore, legal protection in the Labuhanbatu district is in keeping with an Islamic law perspective that prohibits violent child abuse.

Lessons From the Design and Rollout of an Electronic Medical Record System for Cervical Cancer Screening in Rwanda.

In its commitment to delivering comprehensive women's cancer early detection services, the Rwanda Ministry of Health rolled out a new cervical cancer screening program. The paper-based medical record system that tracked clients at different points in the continuum of cervical cancer care had challenges with storing data, accessing client information for follow-up visits, and fragmenting information on individual clients. To support the rollout of the new cervical cancer screening program, a new electronic medical record system was designed and implemented to ensure clients were followed along the complete continuum of care. We document the development and implementation of the electronic medical record system and highlight challenges and lessons learned during implementation. Implementation took a participatory approach to ensure that the electronic medical record system was efficient in tracking clients along the continuum of care. At every stage, a wide range of stakeholders were engaged, including clinicians, program managers, and software developers. Health facility visits and conversations were conducted with health care providers and data managers to review the existing system and ensure that the design and development of the electronic record system were suitable for the context in which it would be used. Cervical cancer screening sites are currently using the electronic medical record system to document client information and track women along the continuum of care to reduce loss to follow-up. The system has been rolled out to all newly activated screening sites as part of national scale-up. Planning, collaboration, and adaptability were the key factors in this system's successful rollout and should be the foundation of future data systems development.

Angel makeup artist provides women's makeup services, with various types of makeup looks to suit consumer needs. Therefore, in writing this final assignment, the researcher describes how Angel makes up her efforts in using Instagram social media as a means of promotion for the community, especially in the city of Padang. Makeup is one way to beautify yourself. Makeup is a market that has a high level of competition, this can be seen from the many types of makeup products that are produced domestically and imported from abroad. The high public interest in makeup has become a reference for other people to become a business field, and not just a product business, but makeup can also be a service business, one of which is a makeup artist. In 2016, a survey proved that there were 6000 MUA (Makeup Artists), and in 2021 there were more than 10,000 beauty service providers including makeup services in 35 cities in Indonesia.

The History of the Greek Refugee Hospital of the Interwar Period in a General Hospital of Nikaia "Agios Panteleimon".

The Asia Minor Catastrophe caused the uprooting of thousands of Greeks from Asia Minor and their arrival in Greece. Especially in the areas around Piraeus, there was a large settlement of refugee populations. During that period, a small hospital was created, the "American Women's Hospital," by an initiative of the "American Women's Union," with the aim of treating and caring for suffering refugees. Within a decade, the hospital expanded and became a general hospital. In 1934, after the departure of the "American Women's Service" from Greece, it was renamed "Refugee Hospital of Nea Kokkinia," and then a year later (1935), it was renamed again to "Protypo Laiko Iatreio" (Model Public Clinic). In 1939, the construction of a larger hospital in Nea Kokkinia began. During World War II, the hospital managed to respond to the difficult conditions of the period and was renamed "General Hospital of Piraeus, Saporta Warehouse Building." After the war, in 1953, it was renamed to General Hospital of Piraeus "Queen Frederika." In 1986, it was renamed to Regional General Hospital of Nikaia "Damon Vassileiou" in honor of the Professor of Medicine of the University of Athens Damon Vassileiou who was one of the greatest Greek doctors. In 2001, it was renamed again to its current name General Hospital of Nikaia "Agios Panteleimon," becoming one of the largest hospitals in the Balkans.

Exploring challenges to the uptake of sexual and reproductive health services among lesbian and bisexual women in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe: a qualitative enquiry.

Reproductive healthcare is essential for all people, including lesbian and bisexual women. However, lesbians and bisexual women are among society's most marginalised and excluded members. This study aimed to explore the challenges faced by lesbian and bisexual women in accessing Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Services in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. An exploratory, descriptive qualitative study was conducted on two populations that included eight participants identified through the Voice of the Voiceless organisation in Bulawayo and 10 key informants and probed the challenges faced by lesbians and bisexual women when accessing SRH services. Data were gathered through 10 key informant interviews and 1 focus group discussion (FGD; with 8 participants). The interviews and FGDs were recorded, transcribed verbatim, coded and thematically analysed. The themes that emerged included the uptake of SRH services among lesbians and bisexual women, the challenges faced by lesbians and bisexual women when accessing SRH services, and strategies to aid the uptake of SRH services by lesbians and bisexual women. The findings showed that the uptake of SRH services was generally low and was influenced by factors such as clinical settings. The challenges mentioned included stigma and the unavailability of specific lesbian and bisexual women's services. By contrast, the most frequent strategies included affirmative training for healthcare providers and improved clinical settings to become friendly and inclusive. There is an imperative for targeted SRH services that address the distinct needs of lesbians and bisexual women, in line with the 95-95-95 strategy and Sustainable Development Goals target 3.7. The observed low uptake of these services can be attributed to several systemic barriers, including inadequate training of health providers, negative attitudes and lack of inclusive policies. Enhancing the sensitivity of health facilities, strengthening links to sexual health education and implementing supportive legal frameworks are essential steps to improve SRH outcomes in this population. These findings elucidate critical gaps within the current healthcare system and present significant opportunities for policymakers to formulate evidence-based strategies to ensure equitable access to SRH services, thereby advancing public health objectives.

Kirishitan Women in Bondage Defying Persecution in Japan, 1625-1630

This article inspects cases of three Kirishitan (Christian) women servants in the Jesuit accounts of Shimabara, Japan, between 1625 and 1630, arguing that global and national changes resulted in the worsened enslaving conditions for servant-class women in Japan. The arrival of Portuguese traders and the Jesuit mission in the mid-sixteenth century, the Jesuits’ initial engagement in the slave trade, the ongoing civil wars, Japan’s invasion of Korea, the shogunate’s total ban of Christianity and Iberian commerce, and its consolidation of patriarchal structures by the 1640s accelerated the decline of women’s status. The sources, read in this context, show that under severe religious persecution, these women’s Kirishitan identity was crucial in their resistance to the multiple systems of oppression. This abstract provides an overview of a comprehensive strategy to promote women's health in the capital of Jharkhand, Ranchi, through mass media. Women's health in this region faces unique challenges, including issues related to maternal health, reproductive health, nutrition, and mental health. This abstract outline a strategic plan to address these challenges effectively. The strategy begins with identifying key health issues and collaborating with local healthcare providers, NGOs, and government agencies to gather accurate information and statistics. Educational content is then developed, encompassing articles, videos, infographics, and podcasts, which are translated into local languages for accessibility. Various media channels are leveraged, including television, radio, print media, and social media, to disseminate this content. Special attention is given to community outreach, with the organization of health camps and workshops to engage directly with the local population. The strategy aims to promote healthy behaviors, challenge cultural stigmas, and advocate for policy changes that enhance women's healthcare services, Television/print media highlighting the issues of women health and seafty. Collaboration with local influencers and the empowerment of women with knowledge about their rights and healthcare options are additional components of the plan. Continuous monitoring and evaluation ensure the impact of mass media campaigns is measured, and the sustainability of these initiatives is addressed through a long-term strategy. By adopting this comprehensive approach, mass media can become a powerful tool in promoting women's health in Ranchi, Jharkhand, leading to improved healthcare awareness, behavior, and outcomes among women in the region.

Realisation of the principle of normalisation in the adoption of ICTs in a women's prison: A Finnish qualitative study

Digitalisation offers prisons versatile opportunities to promote the rehabilitation of incarcerated people during their imprisonment, on their return to society, and in communicating with relatives and service providers such as social welfare and health care services, housing services, and employment services. This study focuses on the Hämeenlinna prison, which is Finland's first closed women's prison using personal in-cell laptops for each incarcerated person. We ask (1) how is the principle of normalisation realised in the adoption of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in a women's prison and (2) how do cultural factors hinder the adoption of ICTs in prison. Research material was collected through ethnographic fieldwork and research interviews (22 prison employees and 15 incarcerated women). According to the results, the use of ICTs diversified and enhanced internal communication in the prison and offered a new tool for interacting in prison. The prison offered a limited opportunity for video-mediated motherhood, and efforts were made to respond to women's multi-problematic service needs in prison, and through utilising various digital services. However, the study shows that the realisation of the principle of normalisation in the adoption of ICT in a women's prison poses many challenges. Furthermore, security-oriented thinking and passive resistance appeared as key cultural factors that slow down the adoption of ICTs and new practices. As a conclusion, it can be stated that the adoption of ICTs and the construction of a new prison culture that utilises technology is a long-term process that requires a change in practices, culture and policies that emphasise security.

The aim of this research is 1) To explain the forms of violence against women and children in West Sumbawa district. 2) To explain the role of the women's and child protection service unit in dealing with violence against women and children in West Sumbawa district. 3) To explain the factors inhibiting the role of the women's and child protection service unit in dealing with violence against women and children in West Sumbawa district. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Researchers collect data, observe, interview and document to obtain complete and detailed data. The research results show that 1) Forms of violence against women and children include: psychological/psychological violence, physical violence, sexual violence, trafficking, exploitation, neglect, other violence. 2) The role of UPTD PPA in handling cases of violence is that it is responsible for providing protection, rehabilitation and recovery for victims of violence, as well as providing assistance during the legal process and ensuring that victims of violence receive the best service and can feel safe and receive justice. 3) The inhibiting factors for UPTD in handling cases of violence are limited resources, lack of public awareness, lack of coordination between related agencies, legal problems, and patriarchal culture which is still strong in society.

Terrorist attacks against women's healthcare facilities 1970-2018.

Targeted acts of violence against women's healthcare facilities and healthcare providers are a continued threat to the safety and well-being of those seeking reproductive care as well as those who provide it around the world. This study aims to review and analyze terrorist attacks against facilities and providers who offer women's healthcare services globally. A thorough analysis of data coming from the Global Terrorism Database (GTD) was performed. This database is run by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism. Two hundred and seventy-one incidents registered in the GTD between 1970 and 2018 were found to be terrorist attacks on women's healthcare facilities, the majority of which occurred in the United States. The method of attack or weapons used varied greatly. While the majority of these attacks targeted facilities, a number of attacks focused on individuals, namely, healthcare providers. Facilities and providers associated with women's healthcare services, particularly reproductive health, remain at risk of terror attack. Although carried out by a variety of groups and with diverse methods, these attacks appear most prevalent, or most reported, in Western society and threaten essential reproductive healthcare.

Halil Pasha’s legacy as a Turkish painter: Esotropia or pseudoesotropia in “Yaşlı Halayık”

ABSTRACT Introduction: Esotropia is a form of strabismus, a condition characterized by the misalignment of the eyes. Specifically, esotropia refers to inward deviation of one or both eyes. It can manifest at different ages, ranging from infancy to adulthood, and can have varying degrees of severity. The false appearance of esotropia in the alignment of the visual axes is what defines pseudoesotropia. Halil Pasha was a Turkish painter known for his contributions to the art scene during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His artistic talent, coupled with his influential position as a statesman, allowed him to leave a lasting impact on the cultural landscape of the Ottoman Empire. Methods: In the present study, artistic depictions of esotropia or pseudoesotropia in Halil Pasha’s ”Yaşlı Halayık” were evaluated. A comprehensive literature review on strabismus in medicine and art was conducted. Results: “Yaşlı Halayık”, translated as “Old Servant Woman”, is one of the iconic paintings of Turkish art. It reflects the social dynamics and lifestyle of the time, offering a glimpse into the lives of women serving in Ottoman households. When we examine this painting as a physician, the first thing we notice is the old woman’s eyes. An eye misalignment in the left eye of the old servant woman is noticed. Discussion: In medical humanities, which are addressed in medical education, medicine and art intersect with different perspectives and understandings. Although the evaluation of medical scenes in artworks seems to have been first observed by an art historian, today physicians and medical students need to examine artworks more carefully and develop their observational skills. Iconodiagnosis is the medical analysis of artworks that looks for clinical signs suggestive of medical disorders and diseases. The application of iconodiagnosis in medical education is an alternative and stimulating way to exercise students’ observation skills; not only the physical examination of the patient is important, but also the information obtained from their posture, clothing, general demeanour and even physical aids.

Perspectives of VA healthcare from rural women veterans not enrolled in or using VA healthcare.

Women Veterans have unique healthcare needs and often experience comorbid health conditions. Despite this, many women Veterans are not enrolled in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and do not use VHA services. Underutilization of VHA services may be particularly prevalent among rural women Veterans, who may experience unique barriers to using VHA care. Nonetheless, knowledge of rural women Veterans and their experiences remains limited. We sought to understand rural women Veterans' perceptions and needs related to VHA healthcare, including barriers to enrolling in and using VHA services, and perspectives on how to communicate with rural women Veterans about VHA services. Rural women Veterans were recruited through community engagement with established partners and a mass mailing to rural women Veterans not enrolled in or using VHA healthcare. Ten virtual focus groups were conducted with a total of twenty-nine rural women Veterans (27 not enrolled in VHA care and 2 who had not used VHA care in the past 5 years) in 2021. A thematic inductive analytic approach was used to analyze focus group transcripts. Primary themes regarding rural women Veterans' perceptions of barriers to enrollment and use of VHA healthcare included: (1) poor communication about eligibility and the process of enrollment; (2) belief that VHA does not offer sufficient women's healthcare services; and (3) inconvenience of accessing VHA facilities. Although VHA has substantially expanded healthcare services for women Veterans, awareness of such services and the nuances of eligibility and enrollment remains an impediment to enrolling in and using VHA healthcare among rural women Veterans. Recommended strategies include targeted communication with rural women Veterans not enrolled in VHA care to increase their awareness of the enrollment process, eligibility, and expansion of women's healthcare services. Creative strategies to address access and transportation barriers in rural locations are also needed.

552-P: Disparities in Preventive Reproductive Health Services in Women with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes

About 50% of (~13 million) reproductive aged women with Type I or II diabetes receive any preconception care. Even fewer receive contraceptive counseling, or other vital reproductive health services. This scoping review aimed to explore if reproductive aged women with diabetes receive adequate preventative reproductive health services compared to women without diabetes. A systematic search strategy of the published literature was built and applied in multiple databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane). Interventional and observational studies describing access to reproductive health services among reproductive-aged women with compared to those without diabetes were included. The Preferred Reporting Items for Scoping Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines were followed. The search strategy identified 6785 unique records. A two reviewer method was used to screen abstracts, with 41 studies identified to be relevant. These studies were separated into the domains of contraception counseling (N=20), cervical cancer screening (N=12), counseling/screening for sexually transmitted infections (N=3), and preconception counseling (N=12). We did not include studies focusing on prenatal care, pregnancy, menstrual irregularities, sexual dysfunction, or breast cancer screening. While a vast amount of literature exists related to diabetes and pregnancy, this scoping review draws attention to the lack of research focused on the reproductive health of women with diabetes prior to pregnancy. The majority of available literature focuses on contraception and preconception management, consistently demonstrating that women with diabetes lack adequate preventative reproductive healthcare compared to their nondiabetic counterparts. Far less evidence exists for sexually transmitted infection risk assessment and screening. Beautifully broken: Implementing a peer support program to help healthcare providers heal

Introduction: This evidence-based project aimed to determine the feasibility of implementing a peer support program to minimize trauma in healthcare professionals (HCP)s following unanticipated adverse events. Based on the forYOU Program designed by Sue Scott at the University of Missouri Health System, this program trained peers to offer real-time caring and support to other clinicians coping with such events. Most healthcare professionals are involved in at least one adverse event in their careers. Albert Wu, MD (2000) coined the term second victim to capture the essence of the trauma experienced by healthcare professionals when an unanticipated event negatively impacts a patient. When left unchecked, this trauma can result in moral distress, stress disorders, and burnout as the clinician ruminates over the event. Providing emotional support has improved second victims' emotional well-being and recovery. Therefore, healthcare leaders are encouraged to develop comprehensive programs to provide easy access to peer and social support when they experience an adverse event.Methods: Designed for implementation in the Women's Service Department of a 350-bed southwestern hospital, this project employed a pre-/post-evaluation of subjective outcomes using an online survey for nurses. A core group of trainers attended a two-day peer support train-the-trainer event hosted by the forYOU Program at the University of Missouri Health Care System. This group trained 26 peer supporters representing the four departments in Women's Services and both shifts. Baseline data was collected (n = 44) to assess the frequency and impact of unanticipated adverse events, the perceived support, and the type of support received. Following the four-month implementation in the Summer/Fall of 2020, post-data was obtained, including a program awareness assessment (n = 17).Results: Pre- and post-implementation of the Peer Support Program, nurses in Women's Services reported adverse events impacting their emotional well-being. Post-program, more nurses reported receiving support (86% post-program versus 43% pre-program). Before employment, 79% of nurses who received support received peer support, versus 86% receiving peer support post-implementation. The implementation occurred during the COVID pandemic, which may have resulted in a decreased post-assessment sample size. However, the peer supporters reported hesitancy in completing encounter forms feeling that providing support was “too personal”. The participants said that they found the peer support program worthwhile.Conclusions: Nurses on the implementation units indicated receiving more support after the peer support program was implemented and felt the program was beneficial. Since unanticipated events are inevitable in health care, the steering committee recommended sustaining and spreading the program to all the nursing departments. More data is needed to determine the full impact of the program.
