EARLY MARRIAGE AS CORRELATE OF EDUCATIONAL AND VOCATIONAL ASPIRATIONS OF MARRIED FEMALE STUDENTS IN WOMEN DAY SECONDARY SCHOOL IN MAIDUGURI, BORNO STATE, NIGERIA

The study investigated early marriage as correlate of educational and vocational aspirations of married female Students in Women Day Secondary School in Maiduguri. The objectives of the study were to determine relationship between early marriage and educational aspirations of married female students in women day secondary school in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. The study further investigate relationship between early marriage and vocational aspirations of married female students in women day secondary school in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. The study adopted correlational research design to correlate early marriage, educational and vocational aspirations among married female secondary school students. The population of the study was 1,554 married female students. Three hundred and seven (307) married female students were sampled through purposive sampling technique. Questionnaire was used as an instrument for data collection. The instrument was validated and pilot tested using Cronbah’s alpha, the result of pilot test which yielded a reliability coefficient of (r = 0.97) (r = 0.93) Cronbach Alpha. The study concludes that early marriage has negative relationship with educational and vocational aspirations of female students in Women Day Secondary School in Maiduguri, Borno State. Based on the findings, Borno State Government should open functional Counselling centers in every institution, workplaces and communities to meet up students’ problems on education, economic, social and vocational. successful professionals in their desired field.

Space of perception of holidays by Ukrainians: towards the possibilities of conceptualization

The article is devoted to the study of the perceptual space of the functioning of the holiday in Ukrainian society. The authors refer to the materials of the multi-year survey-omnibus KІIS with the aim of analyzing the differentiation of distances and relationships between a number of religious, secular, and state holidays in Ukrainian society using the method of multidimensional scaling. The article proposes its own conception of the space of perception, built on a number of known concepts of social perception. Proposing hypotheses regarding the potential axes of spatial structuring is carried out using the work of such sociologists and anthropologists as representatives of the College of Sociology (J. Bataille, R. Caillois), classical sociology (E. Durkheim) and carnival theory (M. Bakhtin). At the conceptual level, the authors take into account the dialectic of unity and struggle of individual and collective, sacred and profane, rational and irrational, public and intimate, etc. in the holiday. Within the framework of the analysis, the authors identified and described the axes that are stable and reproduced in all years of the KІIS omnibus survey, which the authors designate as "rational modernity - irrational archaic" and "publicity - privacy". The authors pay special attention to the dynamics of the holidays selected for analysis; they refer to the holidays that demonstrate the greatest "movements" in space over the years. Considerable attention is paid to attempts to explain the reasons for such dynamics, which the authors look for in externalities relative to public awareness of holidays (political events, pandemic (self) isolation, cultural processes, social phenomena, etc.). Among the holidays, the authors receive special attention Trinity, Victory Day (May 9), Independence Day of Ukraine, Defender's Day, New Year, Christmas, International Women's Day, which, firstly, turned out to be the most sensitive to the factors of dynamics specified by the authors, and - the second - the most dynamic and sociologically demonstrative. A number of prospects for further research of this topic are proposed, starting from what the authors have already achieved in this article.

Semiomical Analysis of 8 March World Women's Day Advertisements

Communication dates back to the beginning of human history, as far back as human history. Human beings have always sought ways to communicate with the people they live with and have developed various communication strategies. Signs, symbols and body language are as important and necessary as human verbal communication. Indicators try to make sense of what is intended to be explained by making it meaningful and concretizing it. Any sign embodies linguistic situations, thoughts, ideas and feelings. In this context, semiotics is used for analysis purposes in cases where any product, service or communication study is involved. Today, as a means of communication, indicators are used when companies want to create various/purposeful thoughts about the product or service in advertisements developed as a way of conveying messages to the consumer audience. The idea, subject, situation and/or event that is intended to be explained is tried to be concretized in people's minds by creating indicators. In this study, "What Would the World Be Like Without Women?" prepared by Gratis for March 8 International Women's Day. In order to understand what kind of messages Kılıoğlu wanted to send to the audience with the signs used in the "If There Were No Women" commercials made by Megaron companies for March 8, International Women's Day, an analysis was made with the semiotic analysis method and an evaluation was made based on the findings obtained. Commercial films express the place and importance of women in social life with strong visual and auditory indicators. Through semiotic analysis, an attempt has been made to analyze how these messages are created and transmitted.

Challenging gender stereotypes: Young women's views on female role models in secondary school science textbooks

International Women's Day highlights both women's achievements and ongoing efforts toward global gender equality. Gender disparities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) affect a country's innovation and ability to tackle global challenges. Therefore, recent national education policies have looked for ways to promote gender equality, particularly in the STEM subjects. One problem is that teaching materials often lack female representation and recognition of female achievements and contributions to STEM subjects, affecting how female students perceive science. The study examines how female students aged 15 to 18 are impacted by gender disparity in their physics teaching materials and what importance they place on female role models. It encompasses 20 group interviews with female students (n = 80) in Switzerland, which were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Results show that, aside from Marie Curie, female scientists are largely unknown to female students, contributing to the perception of physics as a male domain. Female role models are crucial for fostering interest, motivation, and self-esteem in STEM subjects. However, internalized gender stereotypes and fears of negative reactions from male peers counter the demand for greater visibility of female scientists. Despite these challenges, most female students advocate for more female role models in STEM to inspire future generations of female students to pursue a STEM career and foster positive social change.

Application of Public Relations Management Concept as A Communication Strategy for Corporate Social Responsibility Campaign #BeautyDiQuity PT Luxury Cantika Indonesia (Luxcrime)

Luxcrime conducted a public relations program campaign, in 2023 by choosing the campaign moment to coincide with International Women's Day with the theme "Beauty in Diversity and Equality" #BeautyDiQuity which means that beauty in diversity and equality. In the #BeautyDiQuity campaign, Luxcrime invited five disabled models to campaign for beauty in diversity and equality, Luxcrime also invited the audience to take part and support the #BeautyDiQuity program by buying International Women's Day Bundle products which later ten percent of the revenue will be donated to the Unique Project Theatre Foundation and Nali Tari Yogyakarta. The response obtained through the BeautyDiQuity CSR event as part of Luxcrime's public relations activities was positive and supported. Where Luxcrime celebrates the diversity of beauty. This is already based on CSR activities that have previously been carried out by Luxcrime. So the expected response from this activity remains oriented to the Luxcrime brand image as a brand that upholds empowerment values and not just selling.

Sex matters in preclinical research.

International Women's Day 2024 has a theme of inclusion. As publishers of preclinical research, we aim to show how inclusion of females in research advances scientific rigor and improves treatment reliability. Sexual reproduction is key to all life across the plant and animal kingdoms. Biological sex takes many forms that are morphologically differentiated during development: stamens versus pistils in plants; color and plumage in birds; fallopian tubes versus vas deferens in mammals; and differences in size, for instance, males are smaller in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. Physical differences may be obvious, but many traits may be more obscure, including hormonal, physiological and metabolic factors. These traits have a big influence on disease and responses to treatment. Thus, we call for improved inclusion, analysis and reporting of sex as a biological variable in preclinical animal modeling research.

Women have played a pivotal role in the development of modern Scottish society, but as the BBC Series, Women Who Changed Modern Scotland illustrated, they have not always been recognised, acknowledged nor celebrated for their achievements. Much like the series itself, this Special Edition seeks to expand on the issues and successes, exploring new themes while revisiting others. Above all else, as we mark International Women's Day 2024, we celebrate all of those whose shoulders we stand upon while also sounding the alarm as Scotland stands at the crossroads of progress. We have come such a long way, but there is so much further to go.

LGBTQ+ identities in the Indian audiovisual advertisements: A content analysis.

In the late 2000s, LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and others) identities began to surface in Indian audiovisual marketing campaigns. By 2021, brands had produced at least 105 advertisements featuring LGBTQ+ identities. This research conducts an analysis of these campaigns, examining aspects such as their release date, featured characters, gender identity, sexual orientation, character age, narrative usage, genre, theme, and setting. The study reveals a substantial surge in advertising campaigns since 2018, with brands strategically launching them during Pride Month, Valentine's Day, and Women's Day. Characters embodying gay, lesbian, and transgender identities were most prevalent. Advertisements spotlighting gay, lesbian, or both gay and lesbian characters predominantly emphasised themes of love, featuring youthful characters and urban settings. In contrast, advertisements featuring transgender characters centred on human rights, with older characters and non-urban settings. Based on these findings, it is recommended that the number of LGBTQ+ marketing campaigns should continue to rise, diversifying character identities, ages, and settings while being released throughout the year.

Fostering Female Futures: Outcomes and Insights from applying The Girls-in-Control Workshop in Spain

The underrepresentation of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields remains a significant concern despite ongoing efforts towards gender equality. This gender gap not only underscores disparities in educational opportunities but also raises critical questions about diversity in thinking and innovation within STEM disciplines. Initiatives such as The Girls-in-Control workshop aim to address this gap by providing access to essential knowledge and skills in a supportive environment that encourages confidence and motivation among female students. This article presents a detailed analysis of The Girls-in-Control workshop held in Spain, focusing on specific control engineering problems and fundamental concepts. Developed in collaboration with several universities and research centers nationwide, the workshop was held on the Day of Women and Girls in Science (11F). Results from questionnaires filled out by both instructors and students highlight the success of the workshop, with students learning key control theory concepts in an engaging way using Scratch programming. Considerations for future editions are also explored.

ABSTRACT Gladiolus is a species that presents cultivars with flowers of different colors, and these floral stems can be produced using simple and low-cost management practices. Its growth is not widespread in the São Francisco Valley, in Brazil, thus requiring research to guide growers regarding its production and commercialization. The PhenoGlad program was developed to simulate gladiolus production based on temperature data from the previous year. Therefore, the objective of this work was to produce gladioli at different times, assess stem quality, and validate the PhenoGlad model for the region. The experiment was conducted between 2020 and 2021 at the Federal University of Vale do São Francisco, using a complete randomized block design, in a 4×3 factorial arrangement. The treatments consisted of four cultivars (Red Beauty, Jester, T704, and White Friendship) and three harvest peaks (H1: Feast of the Petrolina Patron Saint's Day, August 15, 2020; H2: All Souls' Day, November 2, 2020; and H3: International Women's Day, March 8, 2021). The parameters evaluated were total stem length, rachis length, stem diameter, and postharvest longevity at the R2-R5 stage. The interaction between cultivars and harvest peaks was significant for total stem length and stem diameter. All cultivars grown for H1 performed well and showed a low simulated error compared to field observations, validating the PhenoGlad model. Growing gladiolus in the region is feasible, as the stems meet quality standards and have a suitable shelf life for commercialization.

Strengthening the Capacity of Indonesian and Malaysian Student Institutions with a Project-Based Education Approach

Student institutions play an important role in the educational process and social life. In the era of rapid technological development, innovation is needed in every movement and activity of students to maintain their existence. One form of adaptation needed is openness to new methods to expand reach, as well as international collaboration. Student institutions in study programs, such as the Student Association (HIMA) of the Islamic Education Study Program (PAI) at the Faculty of Islamic Religion (FAI) of the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) and the Islamic Education Lajnah (LPI) of Universiti Malaya (UM), have roles and tasks that have been arranged. Both of these institutions already have work programs and organizational activities, both in academic and non-academic aspects. However, based on initial observations, activists in these two institutions face several problems in carrying out management. Among others are the lack of cohesiveness between members and fluctuations in the mental well-being condition of student activists which have an impact on the performance of the institution. Given the importance of the role of student institutions, solutions in the form of counseling related to the welfare of student activists are certainly needed. This solution includes aspects of self-regulated learning, socio-emotional management, and mentoring in the implementation of project-based student activities on a global scale. This program aims to increase students' understanding of roles and responsibilities in education and society. The focus of this program is to strengthen emotion regulation and performance management based on the values of cooperation, care, and responsibility. It is hoped that this program can strengthen the character of students and increase their creativity in facing the challenges of the industrial revolution 4.0 and the era of society 5.0, while still upholding Islamic and educational values. Methods used to achieve this goal include: a) FGDs with partners; b) Dissemination of activities; c) Implementation of workshops to strengthen the capacity of student institutions; d) Assistance through the Website on emotional literacy ; and e) Monitoring and evaluation of activities. The result of this service activity is the implementation of several program collaborations, both face-to-face and hybrid. Among them: workshops related to organizational management and emotions for activist students, World Women's Day webinars in commemoration of International Women's Day, and International Seminars on graduate profiles of education study program students. In addition to the collaboration program between the student body of PAI UMY and LPI UM, in this service, a website on emotional literacy has also been released which is expected to be one of the media for the general public to improve emotional management and digital literacy skills, especially for both institutions.

Educathon 23 – Girls in Science: An Educational Experience for Teaching Technology with a Gender Perspective

Hackathons are events and work sessions derived from the technological field in which the participants work collaboratively around different challenges and, in a short period of time, seek innovative solutions, presenting them formally at the end of the session. Given the potential of this type of activity related to promoting the development of skills such as problem-solving, teamworking and creativity, among others, and with previous experience and success of its application in science educational contexts, we decided to apply it in the event of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Considering the significant concerns in the access of girls to science and technology professional areas, mainly due to gender stereotypes and biased as well as the lack of referents, we held the Educathon 23 - Girls in Science (www.educathonencic.com), aiming to promote equity access to science and technological education. Hence, working collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, the 15 participants (students mainly from educational degrees) designed an educational resource aligned with the game-based learning methodology and addressed technology content, making the role of female researchers at the University of Málaga who work on related topics visible. To do so, they worked in groups of three during two sessions (five hours each) on the assigned tech topic and selected the stage (Early with a final five-minute presentation of each group. To analyse the experience, at the end of it, the participants responded to a questionnaire in which they generally expressed their satisfaction with the experience, how it had made them aware of the importance of making visible female references in their future teaching practice, and how it had provided them with examples of how to accomplish it.

Women’s health in Germany at a glance – a brochure derived from the Women’s Health Report

Abstract Issue In 2020, Federal Health Reporting published a 400-page report on women's health in Germany. Since dissemination is a general issue in health reporting, our aim was, after first addressing the scientific community, to convey the contents of this report to a broader audience and thus increase the public and policy impact of health reporting. Description of the problem After researching national and international models, the concept of an online brochure was developed with 50% text and 50% photos, illustrations and data visualisations. In the working process, which took about a year, the text of the comprehensive report was reduced to its core statements, the language simplified, examples and explanations added for better understanding. Content was rearranged forming double pages, e.g., the topics cancer, screening examinations, and HPV infection were combined. Data was updated, the topic of women during the Corona pandemic was added. To draw attention to the comprehensive report, links were inserted on each page. Results A 76-page brochure with the most important facts on women's health in Germany was published for International Women's Day 2023. It is illustrated by icons and photos, which are also used for an accompanying social media campaign. In addition to the online version, some printed brochures were produced and well requested. An English version is available at www.rki.de/womenshealthreport. Lessons The brochure is a data-based and scientifically reliable source of information for everyone interested in women's health. It gives visibility to the topic and supports those who advocate to strengthen women's health in Germany and elsewhere. We cannot yet assess its impact, but saw a great response to the social media campaign. One experience is the difficulty of reducing content and combining scientific accuracy and easy-to-understand language. An exchange with other countries on this could be useful, as could the development of good practice guidelines. Key messages • As an extract from the comprehensive report on women’s health in Germany, an illustrated brochure with the most important facts was published in March 2023 by Federal Health Reporting. • The aim of the brochure and the accompanying social media campaign was to convey the topic of women’s health to a broader audience, thus increasing the public and policy impact of health reporting.

Digital Nerve Care Forum: Innovative Healthcare Professionals Education on Neuropathy.

Neuropathy is a common complication of diabetes, rarely detected on time, often deprioritized by treating physicians, and hence rarely managed in time, leading to avoidable complications which can be limb and life-threatening. Despite introducing new diagnostic tests, novel potential bio parameters, and a series of relatively small intervention studies utilizing detailed phenotypic profiling, the management of diabetic neuropathy (DN) and painful DN has remained unchanged due to misdiagnosis. The diagnostic complexity of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN), variation in patient response to treatment, and regulatory pressures to meet data-driven quality metrics for diabetes management all likely contributes to the underdiagnosis and treatment of DPN in clinical practice. Educating the primary healthcare providers and diabetic trainers would help improve the number of diagnosed DPN cases as these practitioners lead public health literacy. The digital nerve care forum (NCF) is an educational initiative created by clinical experts and Procter and Gamble (P&G) health academy. Its primary aim is to generate awareness amongst healthcare practitioners (HCPs) about early diagnosis and timely management of DPN. Since its inception in October 2020, NCF has conducted 143 engagements; 39 neuropathy case puzzles, four interactive case-based discussions, two diagnostic workshops, four mentor-mentee nerve talk shows, two intercountry nerve talk shows, two global neuropathy awareness week initiatives, three nerves of steel (Women's Day special engagements), and 17 NCF times (Newsletters). This online forum is hosted on a global HCP education and upskilling platform, MediSage, which offers these educational resources to HCPs worldwide for free. It has helped create a community of 254, 714 HCPs from 86 countries across six continents supported by 30 neuropathy experts from seven countries. With a repeated viewership of 53% of HCPs engaging continuously, NCF empowers this community to improve diabetic patient care. Activities that increase disease awareness and highlight the importance of diabetic nerve health have been the key objectives behind the several educational programs on NCF. To drive this continuum, these digital programs are now becoming more phygital and impactful than ever. Therefore, earlier detection of DPN in at-risk individuals and those with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes is recommended for better management through optimal intervention and lifestyle changes and to prevent future complications of untreated DPN.
