Smart District Through a Study of Urban Area Usage onHigh-Speed Internet Area: A Case Study of Chiang Mai City

Towards becoming Smart city, Internet has become an important infrastructure in every city. Since 2018 Chiang Mai has forced as Smart city which focuses on city traffic and transportation. Without learning from people and city on the reality, an idea of smart city conceptually requires building up the relation of people and city development with high-speed Internet provider. To elevate quality of people life, smart city is not only holistically on city scale but also community as district scale. According to National Strategy 2018-2037, Smart city presently run by government and internet provider service as Top-down development. The shape of Chiang Mai city is sprawled by City development, Government has served only centralized infrastructure without understanding and elevating existing social and community learning. Then, City development in the past usually overrun and cause to conflict of local community. As 3 ring roads or superhighways which provides city spreading to other suburban districts. But why center of the city still gets potentially to raise businesses and happen new kind of convergence activities. The strategy of Smart city must be collaboratively planned by learning on smart lifestyle and grounding on people. To understand new city area wheresupports new smart people and society is the key to elevate and integrate City development. Several active areas in the city have been appeared as “Smart district” where creates new convergence activities by locals, entrepreneur, digital nomad. By wireless city and Smart city forcing, this leads to a question where Chiang Mai city area could potentially be ready to this upcoming development. Smart district is a new study to study urban area through high-speed internet area where ground up the topic of smart city specifically.

Design and Implementation of Home Video Surveillance Systems Based on IoT Location Service

Due to its simplicity, directness, and rich content, home video surveillance has gradually become the core content of the smart home security system. The rapid development of computer technology, the internet, video image processing, and transmission technology, as well as the emergence of “wireless cities,” have continuously expanded the coverage of wireless internet such as 5G and WiFi and greatly changed data processing methods and transmission speeds. Video surveillance has also gradually developed from traditional wired networking to mobile video surveillance of wireless networks. Therefore, this paper will focus on the design of the home video monitoring system based on the IoT location service. The system combines traditional network video surveillance with intelligent mobile terminals, which can meet the needs of users for video surveillance of home conditions at any location and at any time. And it compared the sensitivity, accuracy, capture time interval, and energy consumption of the two by comparing with traditional internet video surveillance.

Application of Key Technologies of Distributed Storage Based on the Internet of Things in Urban Fire Protection

Due to the rapid development of science and technology in the current era, fires occur more frequently, and the relationship between various economic activities and things is becoming more and more frequent. The need for real-time monitoring and remote monitoring of various firefighting facilities in buildings has become very urgent; this is a task that must be put on the agenda. The existing urban fire remote monitoring system has fewer intelligent networks, so it has high requirements for the firefighters on duty in the fire control room, which is no longer sufficient for the firefighting needs of the modern society. This paper proposes a wireless city fire remote monitoring system based on Internet of Things technology, NB-IoT technology, and cloud computing technology and studies core technologies such as designing wireless monitoring nodes at the perception layer. In the urban fire protection environment of distributed storage, several important theories, key technologies, and related algorithms are being studied in detail. After a variety of experimental verification results, the spatial data engine and adaptive spatial data model of the metadata database are developed. This provides a distributed storage virtual city geographic environment, multilevel, multiregional design and development of a simulated prototype platform and storage, management, sharing, and visualization of urban geospatial data. After technical analysis, a visualization framework was installed, which has the characteristics of global vector grid integration and distributed spatial data. Through the research on the key technology of distributed storage of the Internet of Things, this paper applies it to urban fire protection and promotes the intelligent development of urban fire protection. The application of IoT storage technology in urban fire protection can solve the shortcomings of the current urban fire remote monitoring system and automatic fire alarm system. Wireless city fire remote monitoring system, real-time collection, and transmission and storage of working status information of various fire facilities in the building are provided. The functions of real-time monitoring, real-time alarm, real-time search query, record query, maintenance management, route guidance, and user management are also realized.

Key Success Factors for Smart City Construction

Abstract The Smart City is not a new concept. In fact, the digital city appeared in the information era and the wireless city emerged in the Internet era, but the Smart City had not been clearly defined until the digital era. Unlike traditional informatization, a Smart City is not simply the combination of informatization in all industries. Not only is a smart city a top-leadership project, it reshapes the digital capabilities of all industries in a city, while also addressing systematic challenges. This paper presents Huawei perspective on Smart City development, including the conceptual framework, governance, type, connectivity, structural enablers. The paper also describes the strategic vision and a Smart City construction path, from the strategic planning, solution design and implementation.

Heterogeneous Sensor Data Fusion for Human Falling Detection

With the continuous improvement of human living standards, population aging has become a global development trend. At present, China has entered an aging society, the health and safety of the elderly have become the focus of social concern. Due to the aging of physiological structure and the decline of physical function, the probability and frequency of accidental falls in the elderly are very high. Under the above background, the purpose of this study is based on a heterogeneous sensor data fusion algorithm in an intelligent wearable sensor network. This article proposes a heterogeneous sensor data fusion algorithm based on wearable wireless body area network technology, and constructs a high-precision and stable wearable elderly activities of daily living (ADLs) and fall monitoring system. We first select the three-axis acceleration sensor, three-axis magnetic sensor, and three-axis angular velocity sensor to monitor the activities of the elderly. Then, we use Bluetooth to transmit the data collected by heterogeneous sensors to smartphones, and communicate with service centers and users through the mobile phone communication network, Family members interact to form a wireless city network based on wearable technology. Our proposed data fusion approach is based on the Kalman filter algorithm, which can reduce the system noise and improve the stability of the system. The experimental results demonstrate that the fall detection system proposed and implemented in this study can well detect accidental falls in the daily activities of the elderly, the sensitivity and specificity of the fall detection system are 98.7% and 98.5% respectively. The study in this article has a high research value and practical application significance in protecting the healthy life of the elderly.

Deployment and optimization of wireless network node deployment and optimization in smart cities

Followed by digital cities and smart cities, another advanced form of information city has emerged, namely smart cities. Such kind of city is integrated with informationization, industrialization and urbanization. Smart cities belong to the fusion of multiple information technologies such as the Internet of Things technology and cloud computing technology. Smart city is the use of various sensors and wireless networks, communication technologies to achieve information interaction. The use of cloud computing and big data effectively integrate information is to make comprehensive decisions on various data to achieve comprehensive coordination of city operation management and industrial development. In the wireless city infrastructure of smart cities, the deployment of network nodes directly affects the quality of network services. The problem can be attributed to the deployment of appropriate ordinary AP nodes as access nodes of wireless terminals on a given geometric plane. The deployment of special nodes as gateways will aggregate the traffic of ordinary nodes into the wired network Taking the wireless mesh network as an example, it is proposed to determine the deployment location and number of AP nodes based on the statistics of regional human traffic, and the gateway node deployment problem is seen as a geometric K-center problem. Taking the minimum path length between the node and the gateway as the optimization goal, an adaptive particle swarm optimization (APSO) algorithm is proposed to solve the gateway node deployment position. In the APSO algorithm, improved strategies such as random adjustment of inertia weights, adaptive change of learning factors, and neighborhood search are introduced. A new calculation method of the fitness function is designed to make the algorithm easier to obtain the optimal solution. Simulation results show that, compared with GA algorithm and K-means algorithm, the improved particle swarm algorithm has a stable solution effect, strong robustness, and can obtain a smaller coverage radius, thereby improving the network service quality.

基于WIFI探针的公共安全管理系统设计与研究

近年来，随着WIFI技术的快速发展和普及，国内掀起了无线城市建设的狂潮，前端AP设备采集了大量以终端MAC为主的探针数据。如何有效利用海量探针数据，为城市公共安全管理提供强有力的信息化手段引起了重点关注，是目前研究的热点问题。本文通过对前端AP采集的数据进行分布式存储、计算及分析，搭建基于WIFI探针的公共安全管理系统，可达到人群计数、拥堵预警、轨迹分析等功能。 In recent years, with the rapid development and popularization of WIFI technology, the new wave of wireless city construction has been set up in China, and the AP devices have collected a large number of Probe data based on terminal MAC. How to effectively use the huge number of terminal MAC information providing strong information methods for urban public safety management causes close attention, and is also a hot area of research now. Through the distributed storage, calculation and analysis of the data from AP set up the system of public safety management based on WIFI probe in this paper. The system can achieve population counting, congestion warning, path analysis and so on.

The Making of a Sustainable Wireless City? Mapping Public Wi-Fi Access in Shanghai

In the context of the global information economy, ready access to the Internet is critical to a city’s competitiveness, which has prompted a number of cities to launch plans to establish wireless networks. Most literature on the development of wireless cities focuses on cities in Western countries, and few have discussed how Chinese cities have adopted wireless technologies in their urban infrastructure development efforts. This paper examines recent development and spatial distribution of public Wi-Fi access in Shanghai, a leading business hub in China. We mapped Wi-Fi hotspots through the government sponsored “i-Shanghai” project and China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC). We find that while telecommunication providers have been proactively deploying WLAN (wireless local area network，a proxy of public Wi-Fi or wireless access) hotspots in Shanghai, neither government sponsored WLAN hotspots nor facilities established by CMCC could cover the old traditional neighborhoods in the central city and sub-districts in remote rural areas. We also address the development of a more sustainable wireless city in Shanghai with a particular focus on digital divide and social equity issues.

Editorial: Smart cities of the future: Creating tomorrow’s education toward effective skills and career development today

This special issue is dedicated to recent opportunities, perceptions, solutions and expectations that the emergent number of cities, exploiting the Smart City concept, face in designing and providing education that is striving to shape the new generation of the Smart Citizens. Smart Cities are improving the interconnection between citizens and with governments paying regard to shaping a new environment for the education of today’s students for life in tomorrow’s multifaceted technology-driven world. Various definitions that evolved from Digital City through Wireless City to Smart City and recently Smart City of the Future make us aware that technology and infrastructures are the leading aspect of the Smart City concept. The Smart City concept embraces not only various definitions but also diverse directions representing a collection that conveys many opportunities for educational arrangements. Viewed in this way, it builds the focus of this special issue illustrating the utilization of technologies, and methodology design experiences toward a Smart City setting by considering a wide-range of education and human performance development aspects, including new opportunities for learning and instruction, technology-enhanced learning, curriculum reform, assessment, skills development, and competence and knowledge management in a highly interconnected networked environment.

Design of the Client in Wireless City Based on IOS Platform

Design and Implementation of Lighting Management System Based on Wireless City

China mobile is using 3G and WiFi to construct a everywhere wireless network ,named wireless city.The lighting management system make every city lighting unit to access a unified management platform via the wireless network, so that realize the acquisition of working state, the setting of work mode and the automatic report of fault for every lighting unit. This paper mainly introduces the lighting management node and the unified management platform. The lighting management node is responsible for adaptive wireless network access, information collection and control of the lighting unit. The unified management platform is responsible for establishing the feature database of every light unit, the man-machine operation interface and the illumination energy conservation algorithm of the whole city. In addition, this paper also discussed the cost,and efficiency, the advantages and disadvantages of the lighting management system. Finally, through the experiment estimate for an intermediate city, This system can yield high rates of energy usage, with pay back in 10 years.

An integrative framework for intelligent software project risk planning

Software projects have inherent uncertainties and risks. Social software projects suffer even more requirement changes and require more attention to risk management. Risk analysis and planning are complex, making it difficult to manage risks effectively through subjective judgment. At present, ample empirical research on intelligent decision-support models for risk analysis in software projects exists. However, to the best of our knowledge, empirical models for software project risk planning, or those related to integrative software risk analysis and planning are not available. Thus, the current study proposes an integrative framework for intelligent software project risk planning (IF-ISPRP) to help in minimizing the impacts of project risks and achieving a better foreseeable project outcome. IF-ISPRP includes two core components, namely, risk analysis module and risk planning module. The risk analysis module is to predict whether a project will be successful or not. The risk planning module is to produce a cost-minimal action set for risk control based on the risk analysis module. For integrative risk analysis and planning, we propose a novel many-to-many actionable knowledge discovery (MMAKD) method for complex risk planning. We also apply the framework on a social media platform project, Guangzhou Wireless City, and demonstrate how the model can generate a cost-minimal action set to mitigate the project risk. The risk-control actions found may help develop strategies on mitigating the risks of other social software projects. We hope that the proposed framework will provide an intelligent decision-support tool for project stakeholders to effectively control project risks by integrating risk analysis and planning.

The mobility value of internet services in a wireless city: the case of Taipei, Taiwan

This research investigates whether the provision of citywide outdoor wireless Internet services (WISs) in the world's first wireless city, Taipei in Taiwan, creates mobility value for its users. In addition, demographic trait differences between current WISs users and local residents in this modern Confucian city are also explored. The research employs a survey method to collect data from Taipei Wi-Fi service users. A total of 1543 subjects participated in the survey. In the study, 22 WISs items are identified and six WISs modes are drawn. The findings show that only five WISs items from three WISs modes are used more frequently following the introduction of the Taipei Wi-Fi service. This implies that the current Taipei Wi-Fi service construction only provides limited mobility value to its users. The findings also show that Taipei Wi-Fi service users and Taipei residents exhibit different demographic traits in gender, education and age.

Antecedents for the Adoption of New Technology in Emerging Wireless Cities: Comparisons between Singapore and Taipei

This study examines the direct and indirect antecedents for the adoption of new technology in the emerging wireless cities of Singapore and Taipei (Taiwan). The results show that the development of Taipei wireless city relies on external factors that arise from top-down government policy and business strategies, whereas in the case of Singapore, it depends more on the internal factors and the market-driven participation of customers in particular. Policy-makers should give particular consideration to the divergent institutional environments that induce different types of expansion and varying degrees of efficacy in the adoption of new technology.

Engineering analysis and economic evaluation of broadband fixed wireless access in developing country: wireless city in Thailand

The emergence of advanced broadband wireless access technologies has significantly increased choices, putting pressures on network operators to obtain the necessary information on which to base their investment decisions. This research focuses on the technological and economical assessments of WiMAX, in a specific developing telecommunications market. The study examines the economic feasibility, and presents a discussion of planning and characteristics of WiMAX technology. The study also explores a new engineering-economic analytical model for evaluating a WiMAX system in a prospective wireless city and demonstrates its real-world applicability using Bangkok as the case study. The results show that the service area, quality of network planning and amount of frequency bandwidth allocated to WiMAX technology strongly influence the network’s economic merit, making investment decisions in BFWA network highly dependent on them.

도시가스 시설 안전관리를 위한 네트워크 인프라 및 지능형 서비스 구축

최근에 정보기술 패러다임은 유비쿼터스 기술이 도입되면서 스마트 서비스 환경으로 변화하고 있다. 도로, 상하수도, 가스 등과 산업 시설물에 유비쿼터스 기술이 접목되어 비용 감소 및 사고 예방성 향상이 높아지면서 관련된 연구 및 기술이 가속화되고 있다. 그러나 현재까지 공통환경 IT기술 위주로 개발되어 산업 도메인 특성이 고려되지 않았기 때문에 유비쿼터스 기술이 생활환경 및 산업시설에 활발하게 도입되지 못하고 있다. 본 논문은 도시가스 주요시설에 유비쿼터스 기술을 도입하기 위하여 현장지향형 무선 데이터 전송 인프라를 구축하고 효율적인 서비스를 제공하는 무선기반 도시가스 안전관리 시스템을 목적으로 한다. The information technology paradigm has been shift to smart service environment, as ubiquitous technology is used in the latest industry trend. The convergency between industry facilities and ubiquitous technologies accelerate related studies and technologies because of increasing accident prevention and decreasing cost. However, ubiquitous technologies are not used to life environment and industry facilities, because those technologies did not consider industry domain characteristics by means of developing IT technology for common environment until now. This paper aims to develop wireless city gas safety management system, which provide efficient service, and establish the field oriented wireless data transmission infrastructure in order to use ubiquitous technology to city gas facilities.

Wireless Cities: Local Governments' Involvement in the Shaping of Wi-Fi Networks

This study examines the role of local government in the deployment of municipal Wi-Fi networks from the perspective of path dependency and social shaping of technology. By employing a case study method, the study investigated ways in which municipal networks in three cities in the United States were constructed and operated. The study found that the technology models developed from each city's past experiences in communication technologies played an essential role in the rollout of the current Wi-Fi networks. It also uncovered that social and political factors accounted for the different characteristics of each city's network implementation.

The office is always on: DEGW, Lefebvre and the wireless city

The office is shifting. Architectural and space planning practices such as DEGW are reformulating work practices and the environments within which they occur. In DEGW's terms, the place of work in the knowledge economy is subject to market pressures demanding change within the surroundings of the contemporary city; office practices are being displaced from traditionally static locations and inhabiting places that were previously associated with the non-work world. Drawing on the work of Henri Lefebvre in The Production of Space1 and Reinhold Martin's research in The Organizational Complex,2 as well as Manuel Castells' The Rise of the Network Society,3 this paper will outline how technology is changing the idea and physicality of the office as discussed in DEGW's publication The Distributed Workplace4 and how pervasive networks are becoming the norm.

Community and social interaction in the wireless city: wi-fi use in public and semi-public spaces

Recent years have seen rapid growth in the availability of wireless broadband Internet access in public spaces. Providers and points of access take the form of municipal Wi-Fi networks (Muni Wi-Fi), such as those that have operated in Philadelphia and Toronto, community wireless networks, such as New York Wireless or Ile Sans Fil in Montreal, advanced mobile phone networks (e.g., 3G), and Wi-Fi cafes, restaurants, bookstores, and related spaces (hereafter abbreviated as “Wi-Fi”). While there is a significant body of research addressing whether fixed Internet use increases, decreases, or supplements the ways in which people engage in residential (Hampton, 2007; Hampton and Wellman, 2003) and workplace settings (Quan-Haase and Wellman, 2006), few studies have addressed how the use of wireless broadband in public and semi-public spaces influences social life. Ubiquitous Wi-Fi adds a new dimension to the debate over how the Internet may influence the structure of community—the network of supportive ties that exist between individuals. It is unclear whether wireless Internet use in public spaces will facilitate greater engagement with people in public spaces or encourage a form of “public privatism.”

Community and social interaction in the wireless city: wi-fi use in public and semi-public spaces

A significant body of research has addressed whether fixed internet use increases, decreases or supplements the ways in which people engage in residential and workplace settings, but few studies have addressed how wireless internet use in public and semi-public spaces influences social life. Ubiquitous wi-fi adds a new dimension to the debate over how the internet may influence the structure of community.Will wireless internet use facilitate greater engagement with co-located others or encourage a form of 'public privatism'? This article reports the findings of an exploratory ethnographic study of how wi-fi was used and influenced social interactions in four different settings: paid and free wi-fi cafes in Boston, MA and Seattle,WA.This study found contrasting uses for wireless internet and competing implications for community.Two types of practices, typified in the behaviors of 'true mobiles' and 'placemakers', offer divergent futures for how wireless internet use may influence social relationships.
