MAPLE APPLICATION TRAINING PROGRAM FOR MATHEMATICS EDUCATION AT UNIVERSITAS KATOLIK SANTO AGUSTINUS HIPPO

The community service activity entitled “Maple Application Training for Mathematics Education Study Program” at St. Augustine Hippo Catholic University aims to improve students' abilities in mathematics education study programs using existing applications as sources of learning mathematics. The problems found at the Catholic University of St. Augustine Hippo in the mathematics education study program where students still do not know the application, students still use the manual way of counting, students are still not accustomed to using existing learning applications, and rarely use applications in learning. Community service activities that use a participatory approach and through this training method, the result that students at St. Augustine Hippo Catholic University realized that increasing competence is essential for the world of education, both in increasing knowledge and skills, through various applications of learning mathematics, in this case, the application of maple. Educators here can improve their competence to play a direct role in online and offline learning to improve students' mathematical problem-solving abilities.

Using microcomputed tomography (μCT) to count varves in lake sediment sequences: Application to Lake Sagtjernet, Eastern Norway

Varved lake sediments are one of the most important natural archives that allow annual resolution paleoclimate reconstructions. Conventional varve counting techniques use thin sections to manually identify lamina. However, this technique is destructive, labour intensive and limited to a 2D representation of complex 3D features which may lead to misidentification of varve boundaries. This study presents the use of microcomputed tomography (μCT) scans in constructing varve chronologies, utilizing scanning resolutions of ∼50 μm (binned to ∼200 μm) for core sections up to 150 cm long. To evaluate this method, we cored and analysed Lake Sagtjernet in Eastern Norway — revealing a 593 cm-long sediment record of the past 10274 (+220/-329) years, with continuous laminations from 84 to 533 cm depth (75% of the sediments). Through limnological monitoring and microfacies analyses we demonstrate that the laminations are rare ferrogenic varves, with an annual deposition pattern comprised of seasonal changes in biogenic production superimposed on seasonal precipitates of iron and manganese hydroxides. The floating μCT-counted varve chronology presented here is the first non-glacial varve chronology in Norway and covers 4023 +113/-185 years. We find that μCT scans allow for a very fast and non-destructive way of counting varves with sufficient detail of varve boundaries. In the few sections where varve boundaries are too vague to resolve, we recommend using complimentary techniques such as thin sections in parallel. The varve chronology is in good agreement with the 95% confidence interval of the independent radiocarbon chronology based on 16 14C dates, and 210Pb and 137Cs activity peaks, indicating that the varve chronology can be equated to calendar age.

Lexicographic Description of Maranao Language

One of the most significant local languages in Mindanao is the Maranao language. It has been featured in popular literary masterpieces of Mindaonaon and played an important part in its culture and history. Using a semi-structured interview guide, the researcher explored the existence of Filipino words in the Maranao language as well as comparing both languages in terms of structure and meaning through the interview conducted with three Maranao native language speakers. The objective of this study is to provide an example of the Maranao language’s overall lexicographic components, patterns and meanings. Results revealed that nouns, adverbs, adjectives, and verbs make up the majority of the researcher’s established Maranao terms collected during this examination. Additionally, “hard consonants” are aspirated in Maranao syllables, which enhance the sound of the vowels that follow. When it comes to words that are used in counting, the Maranao language, like all other languages, makes use of the technique of adding new words to the root words, which alters the meaning of the word and creates a different quantity or way of counting. In addition, words are stressed but in a way that creates a down step accent rather than a stress accent. Additional encouragements for writers, students, professors, and other language experts are required in order to use Maranao as a medium in education, literatures, publications, research, and many other sectors.

The purpose of this study was to determine the development of children's ability to recognize the concept of addition and subtraction using the Jarimatika method. Due to the inaccurate way of learning addition and subtraction, many children do not know the concept of addition and subtraction from 1 to 10. Fingering is a method of counting using fingers that can develop children's arithmetic abilities. In the math activities it is fun to introduce mathematics to children on the path of arithmetic, through from start to finish the game, let the children enjoy the fun of mathematics in math learning activities, no more problems in learning math activities. Discussion on Redundant Processing Algorithm of Association Rules Based on Hypergraph in Data Mining

With the rapid advancement of big data, it is becoming a great problem for people to find objective information in the database. The relevance data processing rule for digging the information can be the way. Relevance data processing rule for digging the information is mainly studied in three aspects: data dimension, data abstraction level, and processing variable type. In the aspect of rules, the research mainly focuses on three aspects: active relationships, passive rules, and uncommon relationship rules. Association rules of digging the data can be the most well-employed investigation goal and aim for the data digging. Along with the advancement of the information scale, the time rate of traditional relationship rules exploration of counting ways is too low. How to increase the time rate for the way of counting is the main research content of relevance data processing rules for digging the information. Current relevance data processing rules for digging the information have two limitations: (1) metrics such as support, confidence, and lift rely too much on expert knowledge or complex adjustment processes in value selection; (2) it is often difficult to explain rare association rules. Based on the existing research, this paper proposes a Markov logic network framework model of association rules to address the above shortcomings. The theory of a hypergraph and system is proposed, and the method of a hypergraph in 3D matrix modeling is studied. Aiming at the new characteristics of big data analysis, a new super edge definition method is introduced according to the definition of the system, which greatly enhances the ability to solve problems. In the cluster analysis and calculation of hypergraph, this paper will use the hypergraph segmentation operator hMETIS to carry out the cluster analysis method in order to achieve higher accuracy in cluster analysis and calculation. As for the test of cycle ones, which is in line with the relevance of the hypergraph with clear directions, the thesis will offer a brand-new way to make an analysis and turn the rule of relevance into the hypergraph with clear directions with a new definition of the near linking matrix, and it will change the dealing way from the test of the cycle and more ones into the linking f bricks and circles, which is a new way to explore. This paper uses two datasets of different sizes to conduct rule prediction accuracy experiments on the Markov logic network framework model algorithm of association rules and the traditional association rule algorithm. The results show that compared with the traditional association rule algorithm, the rules obtained by the Markov logic network framework model of association rules have a higher prediction accuracy.

Absolute identity and the Trinity

AbstractTrinitarians are charged with at least two contradictions. First, the Father is God and the Son is God, so it seems to follow that the Father is the Son. Trinitarians affirm the premises but deny the conclusion, which seems contradictory. Second, the Father is a God, the Son is a God, and the Holy Spirit is a God, but the Father is not the Son, the Father is not the Holy Spirit, and the Son is not the Holy Spirit. This argument seems to entail that there are three Gods. Again, Trinitarians affirm the premises but deny the conclusion. In this article, I present a novel Trinitarian solution to these alleged contradictions. The solution allows one to maintain that the premises in the above arguments are absolute identity statements, forestalls the need to develop a new way of counting (e.g. by sortals or numerical sameness), and is compatible with divine simplicity.

A Modern Reconstruction of Richard Carrington’s Observations (1853–1861)

The focus of this article is a re-count of Richard Carrington’s original sunspot observations from his book drawings (Carrington in Observations of the Spots on the Sun from November 9, 1853, to March 24, 1861 Made at Redhill, Williams and Norgate, London, 1863) by an observer from the World Data Center-SILSO (WDC-SILSO, http://www.sidc.be/silso/home ) network, Thomas H. Teague (UK). This modern re-count will enable the recomputation of the entire Sunspot Number series in a way Carrington’s original counts (Casas and Vaquero in Solar Phys. 289(1), 79, 2014) did not. Here we present comparison studies of the new re-counted series with contemporary observations, new data extracted from the Journals of the Zürich Observatory and other sources of Carrington’s own observations and conclude that Carrington’s group counting is very close to the modern way of counting while his method for counting individual spots lags significantly behind modern counts. We also test the quality and robustness of the new recount with methods developed in Mathieu et al. (Astrophys. J. 886(1), 7, 2019).

This article proves that the dialogue between Islamic teachings and the local culture of the Kejawen community creates a syncretic blending culture. The influence of culture is more dominant than the values ​​of Islamic teachings The transmission of teachings from ancestors is delivered orally and is believed to be the truth. The marriage tradition of the kejawen community is a fusion of local Javanese culture with Islamic religious values. Creative dialogue between local Javanese culture and Islamic religious traditions gave birth to a syncretic pattern of religious traditions. In the tradition of the kejawen community, the determination of a life partner and the day of the wedding uses a calculation based on the birthday of the prospective bride and groom. FPGA Realization of the Reconfigurable Mesh Counting Algorithm

Pass transistor logic (PTL) is a circuit design technique wherein transistors are used as switches. The reconfigurable mesh (RM) is a model that exploits the power of PTLs signal switching, by enabling flexible bus connections in a grid of processing elements containing switches. RM algorithms have theoretical results proving that [Formula: see text] can speed up computations significantly. However, the RM assumes that the latency of broadcasting a signal through [Formula: see text] switches (bus length) is 1. This is an unrealistic assumption preventing physical realizations of the RM. We propose the restricted-RM (RRM) wherein the bus lengths are restricted to [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text]. We show that counting the number of 1-bits in an input of [Formula: see text] bits can be done in [Formula: see text] steps for [Formula: see text] by an [Formula: see text] RRM. An almost matching lower bound is presented, using a technique which adds to the few existing lower-bound techniques in this area. Finally, the algorithm was directly coded over an FPGA, outperforming an optimal tree of adders. This work presents an alternative way of counting, which is fundamental for summing, beating regular Boolean circuits for large numbers, where summing a vast amount of numbers is the basis of any accelerator in embedded systems such as neural-nets and streaming. a

Indistinguishability and Counting: Teaching the role of different interpretations in Quantum Mechanics

The theme of indistinguishability in the context of Quantum Mechanics as opposed to a distinguishability in the context of Classical Mechanics has been treated for almost a century in terms of an essential difference between the way of counting in Quantum and Classical Mechanics. Such differences are based on the adoption of the principles of Heisenberg, Duality and Complementarity. In this work, we show that it is possible to avoid such considerations and derive the same results considering only the Correspondence Principle. This is done considering that, in the classic context, the quantum discrete energy levels become continuous or almost continuous. From these results, we indicate how to develop a discussion within the scope of teaching Quantum Mechanics that involves such principles and concepts and possible comparisons, working on ideas related to the interpretation of Quantum Mechanics with regard to this phenomenon, rarely developed in traditional courses.

Dirac electrons in the square-lattice Hubbard model with a d -wave pairing field: The chiral Heisenberg universality class revisited

We numerically investigate the quantum criticality of the chiral Heisenberg universality class with the total number of fermion components $N$=8 in terms of the Gross-Neveu theory. Auxiliary-field quantum Monte Carlo simulations are performed for the square lattice Hubbard model in the presence of a $d$-wave pairing field, inducing Dirac cones in the single particle spectrum. This property makes the model particularly interesting because it turns out to belong to the same universality class of the Hubbard model on the honeycomb lattice, that is the canonical model for graphene, despite the unit cells being apparently different (e.g. they contain one and two sites, respectively). We indeed show that the two phase transitions, expected to occur on the square and on the honeycomb lattices, have the same quantum criticality. We also argue that details of the models, i.e., the way of counting $N$ and the anisotropy of the Dirac cones, do not change the critical exponents. The present estimates of the exponents for the $N$=8 chiral Heisenberg universality class are $\nu$=1.05(5), $\eta_{\phi}$=0.75(4), and $\eta_{\psi}$=0.23(4), which are compared with the previous numerical estimations.

Zero morphemes in paradigms

Abstract This paper sheds a new light on the notion of zero morphemes in inflectional paradigms: on their formal definition (§ 1), on the way of counting them (§ 2–3) and on the way of conceptualizing them at a deeper, mathematical level (§ 4). We define (zero) morphemes in the language of cartesian set products and propose a method of counting them that applies the lexical relations of homophony, polysemy, allomorphy and synonymy to inflectional paradigms (§ 2). In this line, two homophonic or synonymous morphemes are different morphemes, while two polysemous and allomorphic morphemes count as one morpheme (§ 3). In analogy to the number zero in mathematics, zero morphemes can be thought of either as minimal elements in a totally ordered set or as neutral element in a set of opposites (§ 4). Implications for language acquisition are discussed in the conclusion (§ 5).

ReLoc: Hybrid RSSI-and Phase-based Relative UHF-RFID Tag Localization with COTS Devices

Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology brings tremendous advancements in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), especially for smart inventory management, as it provides a fast and low-cost way of counting or positioning items in the warehouse. In the last decade, many novel solutions, including absolute and relative positioning methods, have been proposed for this application. However, the available methods are quite sensitive to the minor changes in the deployment scenario, including the orientation of the tag and antenna, the materials contained inside the carton, tag distortion, and multipath propagation. To this end, we propose a hybrid relative passive RFID localization method (ReLoc) based on both the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) and measured phases, which orders the RFID tags horizontally and vertically. In this article, the phase-based variant maximum likelihood estimation is proposed for lateral positioning, and the RSSI profiles of two tilted antennas are compared with each other for level distinguishing. We implement the proposed positioning system ReLoc with commercial off-the-shelf RFID devices. The experiment in a warehouse shows that ReLoc is a powerful solution for practical item-level inventory management. The experimental results show that ReLoc achieves an average lateral and level ordering accuracy of 94.6% and 94.3%, respectively. Notably, when considering liquid or metal materials inside the carton or tag distortion, ReLoc still performs excellently with more than 93% ordering accuracy both horizontally and vertically, indicating the robustness of the proposed method.

A comparative study on patient safety attitude between nurses and doctors in operating rooms.

ObjectiveTo investigate and compare the attitudes of operating room nurses and doctors regarding patient safety, performance of surgical time-out and recognition of count error.MethodsThis cross-sectional study recruited operating room nurses, surgeons and anaesthesiologists between 1 August 2015 and 5 February 2016. A Safety Attitude Questionnaire was used to analyse the three elements in both groups of operating room staff (nurses and doctors).ResultsThe study analysed the questionnaires from 171 participants; 95 nurses (55.6%) and 76 doctors (44.4%). Differences exist between doctors and nurses regarding teamwork climate, working conditions, perception of management and the recognition of stress. On the performance of surgical time-out, nurses showed higher scores on way of counting, while doctors showed higher scores on the time-out procedure itself. Also, doctors believed they actively cooperated with the nurses, while nurses believed they did not receive cooperation. Scores for the recognition of count error were higher in nurses than in doctors. More experienced operating room staff showed higher scores than younger less experienced staff.ConclusionsPerceptual differences among doctors and nurses need to be minimized for the safety of the patient in the operating room.

UPAYA MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN BERHITUNG SISWA SD/MI MELALUI PELATIHAN CARA CEPAT DAN TEPAT BERHITUNG DI DESA PRINGGACALA KECAMATAN KARANGAMPEL

Training is one element in creating more qualified individuals. Training is very necessary in the learning process so that students are not bored with monotone learning when in class. Therefore, it is necessary to hold a training for students on how to quickly and accurately count to make it easier for students to calculate addition and multiplication operations. With this activity students are expected to be able to more easily understand the material in mathematics. In addition, students are also expected to be motivated to study harder and not think that mathematics is difficult. From the results of the activity, it was obtained input that students desperately need training in a quick and precise way of counting to make it easier for students to calculate addition, subtraction and multiplication. The impact is that student learning outcomes can be better and students prefer mathematics subjects. Participants expect that this community service activity can be carried out as often as possible and continuously so that communication between schools and universities is maintained in the development of learning.

On the Number of Integer Recurrence Relations

<p>This paper presents the number of k-stage integer recurrence relations (IRR) over the ring Z<sub>2</sub> which generates sequences of maximum possible period (2<sup>k</sup>-1)2<sup>e-1</sup> for e<span style="text-decoration: underline;">></span>1. This number corresponds to the primitive polynomials mod 2 which satisfy the condition proposed by Brent and is2<sup>(e-2)k+1</sup>(2<sup>k-1</sup>-1) for <span> e<span style="text-decoration: underline;">></span>3</span>. This number is same as measured by Dai but arrived at with a different condition for maximum period. Our way of counting gives an explicit method for construction of such polynomials. Furthermore, this paper also presents the number of different sequences corresponding to such IRRs of maximum period.</p>

Duality and syzygies for semimodules over numerical semigroups

Let $$\Gamma =\langle \alpha , \beta \rangle $$ be a numerical semigroup. In this article we consider the dual $$\Delta ^*$$ of a $$\Gamma $$ -semimodule $$\Delta $$ ; in particular we deduce a formula that expresses the minimal set of generators of $$\Delta ^*$$ in terms of the generators of $$\Delta $$ . As applications we compute the minimal graded free resolution of a graded $${\mathbb {F}}[t^{\alpha },t^{\beta }]$$ -submodule of $${\mathbb {F}}[t]$$ , and we investigate the structure of the selfdual $$\Gamma $$ -semimodules, leading to a new way of counting them.

The Olympic Medals Ranks, Lexicographic Ordering, and Numerical Infinities

Several ways used to rank countries with respect to medals won during Olympic Games are discussed. In particular, it is shown that the unofficial rank used by the Olympic Committee is the only rank that does not allow one to use a numerical counter for ranking – this rank uses the lexicographic ordering to rank countries: one gold medal is more precious than any number of silver medals and one silver medal is more precious than any number of bronze medals. How can we quantify what do these words, more precious, mean? Can we introduce a counter that for any possible number of medals would allow us to compute a numerical rank of a country using the number of gold, silver, and bronze medals in such a way that the higher resulting number would put the country in the higher position in the rank? Here we show that it is impossible to solve this problem using the positional numeral system with any finite base. Then we demonstrate that this problem can be easily solved by applying numerical computations with recently developed actual infinite numbers. These computations can be done on a new kind of a computer – the recently patented Infinity Computer. Its working software prototype is described briefly and examples of computations are given. It is shown that the new way of counting can be used in all situations where the lexicographic ordering is required.

A Comparison of Research Output Counting Methods Using a National CRIS – Effects at the Institutional Level

Recent decades have seen a trend towards scientific publications with many authors. There is not an agreed way of coun ting co-authored publications. This research in progress contribution compares the behaviour of four representative methods of counting research outputs. We present differences between those methods of counting evaluated at the level of whole universities, their faculties, or non-university research institutes. Our study uses publication metadata from a national CRIS.
