Analisis Perubahan Penggunaan Lahan Kawasan Kumuh Kecamatan Kandis Kabupaten Siak Tahun 2014 dan 2023

This research aims to identify the causes of land use change in the slum areas of Kandis Sub-district, Siak Regency, and analyze land use change from 2014 to 2023 using information maps. The method used is descriptive quantitative, with data analysis techniques based on weighting the quality of slum areas through geographic information systems (GIS) using GIS applications to identify location, distance, and settlement patterns. Sampling was done through proportional stratified random sampling. Data collection used primary data in the form of interviews and secondary data in the form of documentation studies. The results showed that: (1) The causes of land use change in Kandis Sub-district slum areas include an increase in population density every year, narrow spacing between buildings (1.5 to 3 meters), lack of clean water infrastructure, inadequate drainage, inadequate toilet conditions, and lack of waste disposal facilities. Community income is also low, below Rp. 1,000,000 per month. (2) The area of the slum area has increased significantly, from 0.27 Ha in 2014 to 9.6 Ha in 2023.

Effect of mineralized solution on protective properties of clays in radioactive waste isolation

In this paper there were studied the mineral composition and sorption properties as well as filtration properties of natural clay samples from “Gorodnoe” deposit of Brest region and “Markovskoe” deposit of Gomel region. It was determined that clay mineral montmorillonite of the samples contains illite phase in the structure, which is 4,8 wt.% in “Gorodnoe” sample and 3,6 wt.% in “Markovskoe” sample. The illite phase was shown to contain highly selective sorption sites for 137Cs. 85Sr sorption mostly takes place on montmorillonite. It was determined that model mineralized solution (the solution imitating chemical composition of water solution if water penetrates a radioactive waste disposal and consequently passes through concrete, Na-bentonite and again concrete layers) doesn’t affect 137Cs sorption, but significantly affects 85Sr sorption. Distribution coefficients (Kd ) of 137Cs sorption on studied clay samples are higher than 103 dm3 /kg, indicating high sorption properties of the clays towards 137Cs. Kd 85Sr for sorption on the clay samples in the model mineralized solution is 30 times lower than Kd 137Cs mostly because of competition between strontium and calcium ions. It was determined that filtration coefficient values of clays from “Gorodnoe” and “Markovskoe” deposits are 2,4 and 1,3 times higher after being treated with the model mineralized solution than the filtration coefficient values for raw clay samples. Hence, the clay from “Markovskoe” deposit is more resistant to the influence of the model mineralized solution than the clay from “Gorodnoe” deposit. The overall results of the research state that the clay from “Markovskoe” deposit can be used in the underlying layer of low- and medium-level radioactive waste disposal facility at NPP.

Waste Management Strategies by the Village Government

The general background waste management is a critical issue for sustainable community development, particularly in rural areas where resources are often constrained. Specific background in Wedoroklurak Village, effective waste management practices have become increasingly necessary due to rising waste production and its environmental impacts. Knowledge Gap: Although there is considerable literature on community-based waste management, there is limited research examining the specific roles of village governments in facilitating effective waste management strategies. Aims this study to analyze the roles of the village government in waste management, particularly its functions as a facilitator, mobilizer, and regulator. Results: The research findings reveal that the village government has successfully served as a facilitator by providing essential infrastructure, such as waste disposal facilities and educational resources for residents. Moreover, it has acted as a mobilizer by encouraging community participation through training programs. However, the government’s regulatory role has been inadequate, primarily relying on informal agreements rather than formal regulations. Novelty this study contributes valuable insights into the governance of waste management in rural contexts, emphasizing the need for more robust regulatory frameworks. Implications the findings suggest that strengthening regulatory measures can significantly improve waste management practices and promote sustainable environmental health in rural communities. Water scarcity and its implications on sanitation: A perspective study in an emerging city in Northern Ghana

Water scarcity is a critical global challenge affecting billions of people, particularly in developing regions like sub-Saharan Africa. In Ghana, this issue has become increasingly pronounced, with limited access to clean and safe water posing serious threats to the health and livelihoods of many communities. This study investigated the intricate relationship between water scarcity and accessibility, and the associated implications on sanitation practices in Damongo, a newly created regional capital and an emerging city. The study showed that the area faced evident water scarcity, with a daily per capita water consumption as low as 0.128 m3. Mechanized boreholes emerged as potential solutions, particularly for the 61.2% of respondents experiencing waiting times exceeding 15 min. The economic repercussions were noteworthy, as high water costs impacted livelihoods, emphasizing the need for policy interventions, especially for low-income households. Sanitation challenges are widespread, with 62.8% relying on pit latrines, and 56.1% lacking proper infrastructure. Water and sanitation-related diseases like typhoid and diarrhoea highlight the need for urgent interventions to enhance water quality and sanitation practices. Household water infrastructure analysis revealed diverse, primarily privately owned sources. Gender imbalances persist in water-fetching responsibilities, with 58.2% relying solely on females. Domestic water sources predominantly involved traditional options, potentially exposing residents to unsafe practices. Sanitation maintenance practices and intervals varied, signaling the necessity for comprehensive solutions. Households without toilets resorted to open spaces (43.6%), gutters (29.1%), and public toilets (12.7%), indicating challenges in waste disposal and sanitation facility access. Insights on the health dimension considered uncovering the prevalence of the top five water and sanitation-related diseases for 2022. These included typhoid (24.3%), diarrhoea (30.0%), Cholera (11.7%), Dysentery (14.6%), and Hepatitis (19.3%). These findings suggest the pressing need for improved sanitation and clean water access, as inadequate infrastructure and water scarcity contribute significantly to these health challenges.

Geospatial Analysis of Abiotic and Biotic Conditions Associated with Leptospirosis in the Klaten Regency, Central Java, Indonesia.

The Klaten Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia, is a leptospirosis endemic area. The purpose of this study is to spatially describe the abiotic and biotic environmental factors that contributed to the incidence of leptospirosis in the Klaten Regency in 2018. This was a descriptive observational with a cross-sectional approach conducted in the Klaten Regency, Central Java, in 2019 with 59 respondents. The results revealed that the percentage of abiotic environmental factors such as poor waste disposal facilities, poor gutter conditions, rivers < 200 m, and flooding history, namely 35.6%, 41.2%, 54.2%, and 6.8%, respectively. The highest leptospirosis cases occurred in April 2018, with 325 mm of rainfall, an average temperature of 27 °C, an average humidity of 82.3%, and an altitude of 100-200 MASL (79.7%). Meanwhile, biotic factors included rat nest existence (100%), having pets at risk (32.2%), and ≥three types of vegetation (79.7%). The main result confirmed that all leptospirosis cases had rat nests throughout the respondent's house. This finding emphasizes the importance of rat pest control programs by establishing cross-sectoral collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and educating the public to also play a role in environmental cleanliness in controlling rats.

Compacted Soil Liners and Covers for Waste Containment

An effective waste disposal system is essential in preventing the infiltration of leachate into the ground and achieving the sustainable development goal of ensuring access to clean and potable water. Liner is an important component of landfill in waste disposal facilities as it impedes the flow of leachate from the landfill. The choice of liner material depends on factors, such as the type and availability of soil, the site conditions, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness. This paper focuses on different soil types as compacted liners in waste containment facilities. The main purpose of this paper is to present the findings of laboratory investigations and measurements of hydraulic conductivity and other important soil properties extracted from previous literature with the aim of providing a guide in material selection for use as compacted soil liners and covers in waste containment applications. The key results of many laboratory studies previously conducted on soils of different properties, gradation, plasticity, and mineralogy, untreated or stabilized with various additives such as waste materials from industries, agricultural by-products and municipal waste materials are reported. The paper also presents the potential of using biopolymer-treated soils (soils modified by polymers) derived from plants and animals, as potential liner materials.

The level of implementation of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) practices among the public basic schools in Ghana

ABSTRACT Water, sanitation and hygiene practices (WASH) have been a major challenge facing many basic schools in Ghana for many decades. The school authority have made a number of complaints to the Ghana government through the Ministry of Education in relation to the inadequate potable water, sanitation facilities and hygiene practices in basic schools which the government has remained silent on. The aim of this study was to assess the level of implementation of Water, sanitation and hygiene practices in basic schools in the Sunyani East Education Directorate. Both qualitative and quantitative data were collected using questionnaires and interviews. The results indicate that hygiene and sanitation facilities available in schools under study included urinals, toilets, handwashing materials and solid waste disposal facilities. It was revealed that wooden slap pit latrine toilet was present in all schools except Methodist school which has cemented slaps. There were absence of toilet rolls, tap facilities and hand washing soap in all schools visited. The pupils fetched water from neighbouring houses and used it. The study recommends that the Parent-Teacher Association, School Management Committee, District Education Directorate and Ghana Education Service should team up to provide these essential facilities to basic schools in Sunyani East.

Penyuluhan Optimalisasi Drainase Pedesaan Sebagai Langkah Maju Menuju Lingkungan Yang Lebih Baik

Plosasari village, located in the Puri Sub-district, Mojokerto regency, Jawa Timur, deals with a severe communal drainage system problem, including erosion and environmental pollution. This community service aims to provide counselling on village drainage optimization as a step towards a better environment. The methodology to realize this service starts with a preliminary survey to investigate the existing condition of the drainage channel, preparation of presentation material based on literature review and previous survey, and finally, the implementation of the seminar in the village hall. The counselling results show that people's knowledge about the importance of drainage increased, and practical solutions to tackle common drainage problems were successfully formulated, including good drainage infrastructure planning, integrated waste management, and smart technology. Some constraints to realize those solutions include the difficulty of gathering community members and the lack of waste disposal facilities. This counselling supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals, especially for target number 6th, which is about clean water and sanitation, and target number 11th, which is about sustainable cities and communities, by proposing innovative and collaborative solutions for rainwater management and village drainage system. This counselling result can be implemented in other villages facing similar problems to improve the health and environmental conditions in the community.

Influence and mechanisms of perceived information disclosure in shaping public attitudes towards waste disposal facilities: Evidence from China

Waste disposal facilities are an indispensable infrastructure for modern urban development, and increasing public acceptance of such facilities contributes to sustainable urban development. Estimation results using the least squares method, based on widely representative questionnaire data, indicate that perception of government information disclosure has a significant positive impact on enhancing the public’s willingness to accept waste disposal facilities. This finding is further confirmed not only when using instrumental variables approach to address potential endogeneity as well, but also by a series of robustness tests. The results of the heterogeneity analyses show that the positive impact of government information disclosure is present only in the sub-sample of those who have no religious trust and frequency of online socialization. Further findings support the idea that political trust and the perception of the government capacity to ensure public security are two fundamental mechanisms. In particular, trust in county government and perceptions of medical security are more likely to drive this positive effect. This study reveals the role of perceptions about information disclosure in shaping public attitudes toward public programs and provides new insights into facilitating the successful construction of public facilities.

Discerning β-emitting radioactivity from caesium-137 γ radiation via bremsstrahlung for in-situ groundwater monitoring

A qualitative approach to discern the relative contributions of 137Cs and 90Sr in-solution with a monitoring probe is described, based on a comparison of X- and γ-ray photon spectra. The bremsstrahlung yield from 90Sr has been measured as a function of distance (x) from a cerium bromide scintillation detector relative to the 137Cs γ-ray full-energy peak response. The utility of two, count-independent shape factor parameters has been compared: the ratio of the sum of the counts in the 60–800 keV region to the full-energy peak response associated with the 137Cs 662 keV γ-ray line, termed for the benefit of this paper as SF1, and the ratio of counts in the 60–350 keV region to those in the 350–450 keV region, defined in this work as SF2. These parameters probe the presence of isotopes associated with clear full-energy spectral lines and bremsstrahlung, respectively. They have been calibrated as a function of x with sealed sources in the laboratory and both are observed to be asymptotic as x→0. This approach has been tested with a variety of open, laboratory-based liquid samples comprising 90Sr and 137Cs, and in a water-based, contaminated medium in the field associated with a sump at a low-level waste disposal facility on the former fast reactor site at Dounreay, UK. The highest response in both SF1 and SF2 measured in this work is observed in these on-site measurements, consistent with x→0, implying both 90Sr and 137Cs presenting together in solution. This is consistent with prior, laboratory-based analysis of the sump media, and suggests that the β−-emitter contribution (anticipated to comprise 90Sr and 90Y) is very near the probe, consistent with the solution being in contact with it. This is of relevance where the β−/γ composition of contaminated groundwater, in-situ, is not well understood or where migratory changes in activity are suspected.

Improper toy waste handling can harm human health via seafood consumption: A comprehensive health risk assessment of heavy metals

Toy production has been increasing over the last few decades to meet the growing demands for toys across the globe, which has inevitably worsened the problem of toy waste. Given the lack of modern waste disposal facilities, rural villagers in many developing countries often discard and incinerate toy waste in backyards or riverbanks, which may release the pollutants from toys (e.g., heavy metals), contaminate the surrounding areas, and eventually threaten the health of residents. As such, this study examined the impact of improper toy waste handling on the nearby aquaculture site by measuring the contamination level of heavy metals (As, Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn) in the sediment and seafood (crabs, shrimps, and fish). The health risk of heavy metals via seafood consumption was assessed in different groups of people (males, females, teenagers, and seniors). Results showed that the sediment and seafood at the aquaculture site were generally not contaminated with heavy metals (contamination factor and bioaccumulation factor <1). However, consuming the seafood cultured at this site, especially for crabs, could pose a health risk to humans due to As and Cd (hazard quotient > 1), irrespective of their age and gender. This risk could not be lowered by cooking, except As by boiling. Overall, we revealed that improper toy waste handling did not cause severe heavy metal pollution in the surrounding environment, but the consumption of contaminated seafood could still threaten human health. To safeguard public health, we propose that toy waste should be appropriately treated by the authorities concerned. In addition, consuming seafood with long culture periods (e.g., crabs) should be reduced to minimize the dietary intake of heavy metals and their associated health risk.

Численное моделирование миграции фильтрационных вод от объектов размещения твердых коммунальных отходов через грунтовые защитные сооружения

The paper studies numerically he processes of pollutant migration from the municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill and discusses the obtained results. Pollution of the natural environment with residues of substances and products resulting from the human household and industrial activities is one of the most urgent problems both in Russia and all over the world. In economically developed countries, in which waste management strategies are implemented to minimize garbage accumulation, priority is given to neutralization and recycling technologies, The beneficial effect of such strategy is a significant reduction of the waste volume. In Russia, despite the positive dynamics in the use of new waste management technologies, the main method of their treatment is disposal at MSW landfills. On the territory of Russia, along with the MSW landfills operated and built in accordance with environmental requirements, there are a large number of unauthorized landfills, which are of serious hazard to the environment. This raises the question of assessing the impact of such facilities on the environment. To study the characteristics of the pollutant distribution and determine the waste migration parameters, the archival data from a set of field and laboratory studies in the area of the existing MSW disposal site were used. A numerical model was constructed to describe the hydrodynamics of the migration of substances in the soil and soil layer forming the base of a solid waste disposal facility. The process of pollutant spreading is described in terms of dry residue. The model takes into account such factors as convective transport, diffusion and geological composition of the base of the waste disposal site, which have a significant impact on the pollutant migration.

Gambaran Sanitasi Sekolah Dasar Inpres Palsatu dan Sekolah Dasar Negeri Palsatu pada Kelurahan Manutapen Kecamatan Alak Kota Kupang

School sanitation, including the provision of clean water, toilet facilities, hand washing with soap (CTPS), waste bin management, has a big impact. When school sanitation facilities and infrastructure do not meet health standards, lack of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior, as well as lack of sanitation management schools, has negative impact on student health. The aim of the research to describe the sanitation situation at SDI Palsatu and SDN Palsatu using descriptive research methods. The research was conducted in January-February 2024 with a sample of 30 students and principals from each school. The results of research show that condition of clean water supply facilities at SDI Palsatu and SDN Palsatu meets requirements with percentage of 80% and 100%, the condition of latrines at SDI Palsatu and SDN Palsatu does not meet requirements with percentage of 45.45% and 36.36%, the condition of CTPS at SDI Palsatu and SDN Palsatu do not meet requirements with a percentage of 33%, Conditions of waste disposal facilities at SDI Palsatu and SDN Palsatu o not meet requirements with percentage of 20%, The behavior of using latrines for urinating/defecating at SDI Palsatu and SDN Palsatu does not meet requirements with percentages of 54.44% and 55.55%. CTPS behavior at SDI Palsatu and SDN Palsatu meets requirements with percentage of 82% and 78%. Waste management behavior at SDI Palsatu and SDN Palsatu does not meet requirements with percentage of 33.33% and 26.66%. Sanitation management at SDI Palsatu and SDN Palsatu is good with percentage of 71.42% and 85.71%.

The Effect of Pollutantmigration on the Environmental Situation in the Zone of Chemical Weaponinfluence

The article is devoted to the issues of monitoring the environment state in the influence zone of chemically hazardous objects on the example of the environmental monitoring system of a chemical weapons storage and destruction facility (CWDF) in the city of Kambarka, Udmurt Republic. Among the components there are: production control systems and site monitoring, environmental monitoring and health monitoring, however, it is environment in the zone of the chemical waste disposal facility influence which hasthe largest area and is the most difficult to control. Here, due to large areas, the process of migration of pollutants over considerable distances is observedclearly. The importance of the system for arranging sampling points on the topographic map of the waste disposal facility is shown in order to take into account the process of pollutantmigration. Vertical and horizontal migration of pollutants can lead to the emergence of unobvious local areas of pollutantaccumulation both within and outside the influence zone of the chemical waste disposal facility. A solution to the problem of migration process modeling on a conditionally selected area of the territory within the facility influence zone is presented to show the effect pollutantmigration on the dynamics of the environmental situation within the chemical waste disposal area. It has been proven that within the area under consideration there will be a significant amount of pollutant, which, subject to further evaporation of rainwater runoff, will remain in this area. This indicates the inevitability of the appearance of local areas of pollutantaccumulation in the influence zone of chemically-disposable substances in excess of permissible standards for their concentration, which requires a revision of the arranging sampling pointsystem, taking into account the application of migration processmodeling methods. The need for dynamic observations in individual sites of the area, selected with respect to the analysis results of the pollutantmigration routes within the entire influence zone of the chemically-disposable waste disposal facility, in order to assess the degree of impact of the non-toxic waste disposal facility on the environment, is substantiated.

Penerapan Fungsi Retribusi Pasar Terhadap Layanan Infrastruktur Pedagang Pasar Tradisional di Desa Batetangngga (Perspertif Hukum Ekonomi Islam )

The research investigates the traditional market levy in Batetangngga Village from an Islamic legal perspective. The aim of this study is to understand the function of market levies in providing trading facilities in the market. With two problem formulations: 1) how is the application of traditional market levies in Batetangngga Village, 2) How is the economic legal review of traditional market levies in Batetangngga Village. This research is qualitative using interview and observation techniques, and the data processing and analysis methods used in compiling this thesis are editing and verification. The results show that market levies in traditional markets come from the collection of business rental fees, cleanliness levies, electricity levies, and parking levies. These levies vary for each trader and are divided into several groups. Facilities available in Batetangngga Village traditional market include toilets, parking areas, and waste disposal facilities. The collection of levies in this traditional market does not comply with Islamic economic law because there are conditions not met by market officials, namely responsibility for repair and maintenance. However, market officials are not responsible for repairing facilities that have been paid for by traders. Taking away others' rights and causing harm to traders whose rights are taken is akin to stealing others' property. Taking someone else's rights is tantamount to committing injustice, a prohibition mentioned in the Qur'an and the Hadith of the Prophet.

MINERALOGICAL AND GEOCHEMICAL PARAMETERS OF SNOW COVER WITHIN THE ANTHROPOGENICALLY DISTURBED SITES OF THE NADYM-PUR INTERFLUVE (NORTHERN PART OF WESTERN SIBERIA)

The article analyzes the content of metals in solid aerosols and snow water sampled in the anthropogeni-cally disturbed and background sites of the Nadym-Pur interfluve. The results of microscopic studies of solid aerosols showed the presence of secondary minerals, technogenic formations, as well as a large amount of pyrite in samples from the eastern part of the study area. The maximum concentrations of metals in solid aero-sols were found in snow of the sanitary protection zones of waste disposal facilities, with the exception of Ca, which prevails in snow cover of Novy Urengoy (up to 10% of dry matter). The urbanized area is characterized by the highest values of dust load (up to 111 mg/m2 a day). The local contamination with Ba within the waste landfills in Novy Urengoy is associated with the sites of barite and drilling waste processing. We applied the factor analysis to identify the main metal associations characteristic of solid aerosols from different functional zones: Ca-Co-V-Mn (city), Ba-Sr-K-Na and Cd-Cu-Pb (waste disposal sites), Cu-Ni-Cd (the entire studied area). Based on the study of the content of dissolved forms in snow water, a high mobility of metals in the northern landscapes and its decrease in urban environment were revealed. The mineralogical and geochemical analysis of snow suggests the influence of the Norilsk industrial region on the eastern part of the Nadym-Pur interfluve, Zn, Cu, Ni, Pb and the mineral pyrite being the indicators. The risks of environmental pollution under the aerotechnogenic transport are associated with high content of Zn, Cu, Ni, Pb and Ba in solid aero-sols. The calculation of the Toxicity Probability Index (MERMQ) showed that some aerosol samples from the landfill sites have a high probability of biological effects. Using data on the chemical composition of soils and soil water, no visible effect of snow pollution on the growth of metal concentrations in soil and soil water was revealed, with the exception of local contamination with Ba, which led to a twofold increase in the content of the metal in the upper soil horizon.

USERS’ SATISFACTION WITH INTERCITY BUS TERMINAL QUALITY IN LAGOS STATE, NIGERIA

Globally, efficient intercity public transport relies on well-designed and high-quality terminal facilities and services to enhance accessibility, mobility, and safety for passengers and freight. Despite governmental efforts, bus terminals in Nigerian urban areas are becoming hotspots for unregulated activities and traffic chaos. In response, this study investigates users’ satisfaction with Lagos State's intercity bus terminal quality, analysing socio-economic profiles, satisfaction levels with quality of terminal facilities (QoTF) and services (QoTS), and challenges impacting terminal operations. Using a cross-sectional survey, 200 questionnaires were distributed to terminal users, employing a multistage sampling technique. Descriptive (weighted mean analysis) and inferential (multiple linear regression [MLR] analysis) statistics were employed for data analysis. Results indicate that the majority of respondents are male, aged below 40, and permanent terminal users. Satisfaction is noted with 13 out of 24 parameters of QoTF, with top-ranking parameters including parking space, restaurant facilities, and waste disposal facilities. However, dissatisfaction is expressed with 8 out of 14 parameters of QoTS. Least-satisfied QoTS parameters include staff attitudes, passenger safety, and bus service reliability. Top-rated challenges affecting terminal operations are security concerns, sanitation facility deficiencies and insufficient passenger amenities. MLR analysis indicates a significant influence of terminal facilities on overall service satisfaction (F= 2.899, p= 0.000 &lt;0.05). In conclusion, enhancing both terminal facilities and services is crucial for efficient operations in Lagos State's bus terminals. Recommendations include improving security measures, sanitary infrastructure and staff training to address user concerns and enhance satisfaction.

Basic Sanitation Factors Affecting Diarrheal Disease in Toddlers: Observations in the Working Area of Tambakrejo Health Center

Diarrhoea is a condition in which a person feels defecation with liquid or watery stools, generally occurring more than three times per day. Diarrhoea in toddlers in the area work Puskesmas Tambakrejo City Surabaya for the last 3 years (2020-2023) has increased. The increase shows an increasing trend of cases so it is necessary to know the cause. The purpose of this study was to identify factors - factors causes of diarrhoea in toddlers, namely: clean water facilities, healthy toilet facilities, sewerage and garbage disposal facilities in the homes of toddlers with diarrhoea. This study uses descriptive research with a approach cross-sectional using 47 samples. This research is a survey study by making observations at the same time or once upon a time with the help of questionnaires and interviews with mothers of toddlers. The results showed that as many as 80.9% of respondents who had clean water facilities met requirements, 80.9% of respondents' healthy latrine facilities met the requirements, 95.7% of respondents' sewerage met the requirements and 61.7% of waste disposal facilities met the requirements. The conclusion of this study shows that all variables studied fulfil the requirements of the applicable health standards. fulfil the requirements by the applicable standard quality of health. Geospatial assessment of the efficiency of waste disposal facilities in Lugbe, FCT

Solid waste consists of substances or objects that are disposed of and are mostly found where there are human activities, these substances are accumulations of waste materials generated from domestic, commercial, and industrial operations that are deemed unworthy or rejected and required to be disposed of. The study aims to assess the efficiency of waste disposal facilities in Lugbe FCT, with specific objectives to; evaluate the spatial distribution of waste collection sites (dumpsites) in the area, evaluate the proximity of dumpsites (waste collection sites) to the residential areas, and evaluate the level of appropriate use of waste bins in the study area. Both primary and secondary data were used for this study. The primary data used are the X and Y coordinates of dumpsite locations and questionnaire administration while the secondary data includes; the Google Earth image. Nearest neighbour analysis was performed on the dumpsite's coordinate locations to affirm its spatial distribution pattern in the study area. Buffering analysis was performed on the dumpsite locations with 300m standard to identify the proximity of dumpsites to buildings while the descriptive statistical method was used to analyze the retrieved administered questionnaires to assess the level of the appropriate use of waste bins in the study area. The result of the dispersed spatial distribution of the dumpsites and the result of the proximity analysis performed on dumpsites to the residential area revealed that buildings were found around almost all the dumpsites except the Park Estate dumpsite where no building is found around the dumpsite. At the level of waste bin appropriateness, all the waste bin types were adopted but 72% of waste bin types are appropriate.
