The Planning of Reduced, Reuse, and Recycle-Based Temporary Disposal Site

Abstract The community-based waste management methods through reduce, reuse and recycle-based temporary disposal sites (3R-TDS) was one of the possible municipal solid waste management strategies for reducing the volume of waste. The aims of this studied were to planned and design 3R-TDS in densely populated areas by combining various 3Rbased waste management methods for obtaining a reducing volume of municipal solid waste to FDS. This studied was conducted into five main steps, that were collected primary data, calculated the density and composition of municipal solid waste, designed the 3R-TDS to determine the appropriate space based on functional processing. The results had identified the waste generation 4,454.72 kg/day or 0.431 kg/person/day, and it was predicted up to 8,930 kg/day within 10 years. The highest percentage of municipal solid waste was organic food waste 58%, and the lowest composition was leather 0.2%. Design of 3R-TDS could been applied to managed municipal solid waste had been the concept of 3R-TDS leads to arrange 973 m2, which provided area for in ordered to facilitate dropping, separating, sorting, waste processing for plastic, inorganic, organic, residue, leachate, and supporting area.

Performance of incineration bottom ash amended marine soft clay stabilized by cement in seawater

Incineration serves as an effective waste management method driven by its ability to reduce mass and volume of municipal solid waste. However, this process generates incineration bottom ash (IBA), which is commonly disposed of in landfills in many countries, especially when dealing with fine IBA. To address this issue, recycling fine IBA for soft marine clay (MC) stabilization is a sustainable option compared to landfilling. Previous studies revealed that aggregate-like and weak hydration properties of fine IBA may increase the strength and decrease compressibility of MC. Nevertheless, when using IBA-MC in land reclamation or coastal protection, the performance may deteriorate, particularly in the presence of seawater. Therefore, this study employed chemical stabilization method combined with ordinary Portland cement (OPC), to solidify/stabilize IBA-MC (OPC-IBA-MC). The aim was to improve the performance of IBA-MC in seawater. The appearance, water content, strength, mineralogy, and microstructure of IBA-MC and OPC-IBA-MC soaked in seawater were investigated. The results showed that the strength of OPC-IBA-MC (4075 kPa) cured in air for three months was significantly higher than that of IBA-MC (983 kPa). Nevertheless, after soaking in seawater, OPC-IBA-MC was dismantled, rendering its strength untestable. The mineralogy and microstructure of OPC-IBA-MC revealed that the formation and growth of ettringite caused instability in OPC-IBA-MC in seawater.

Waste-to-Energy Generation: Complex World Project Analysis

Sustainable development and the circular economy mandate efficacious management of waste. The annually increasing volumes of municipal solid waste pose a formidable global challenge. Waste-to-energy conversion, utilizing thermochemical or biochemical technologies, presents a viable solution for mitigating waste disposal concerns. This study conducts a thorough analysis of extant projects to evaluate the economic viability and environmental benefits across various technologies. Employing a self-compiled, unique database, our examination spans enterprises operational from 1980 to 2022, including 37 of the most representative facilities across Europe, North America, and East and Southeast Asia. Economic efficiency is gauged through the levelized cost of electricity generated by these installations, while environmental impacts are assessed based on the statistics on prevented greenhouse gas emissions. The methodology encompasses correlation and techno–economic analyses and expert evaluation. Contrary to conventional wisdom, our findings challenge the ubiquity of scale effects among technologies and the presumed decline in electricity generation costs with newer technologies. However, they corroborate the enhanced environmental benefits of recent technological advancements. The insights derived from this research are poised to inform strategic municipal solid waste management planning in Russia and beyond, offering a foundation for the design of new facilities. The scientific novelty of this work lies in its holistic approach to analyzing the ecological and economic efficiencies of all extant technologies.

Evaluating the impact of China's MSW sorting pilot policy on urban sustainable development: Empirical evidence from 95 cities.

The escalating challenge of municipal solid waste (MSW) critically tests the sustainable development capacities of urban centers. In response, China initiated pilot policies in 2017 aimed at bolstering MSW management. The effectiveness of these initiatives, however, necessitates empirical scrutiny. This study leverages panel data spanning 95 cities at the prefectural level or higher, covering the period from 2006 to 2020, to assess the impact of the MSW sorting pilot policy on urban sustainable development using a difference-in-differences approach. The research found that the MSW sorting pilot policy has significantly increased the processing volume of MSW, thereby enhancing the sustainable development capabilities of cities. Further, the study identifies augmented fixed asset investments as a key mechanism through which pilot cities have enhanced their MSW management capabilities. Notably, the policy's stimulative effects are more pronounced in less densely populated and economically lagging regions. These findings provide critical insights for developing nations in shaping MSW sorting strategies and advancing urban sustainability.

Resource potential of municipal solid waste in Odesa Region

Despite the widespread use of the term "municipal solid waste" (MSW), the main regulatory and legislative documents of Ukraine use the term "household waste". International practice also does not have a clear definition of the "municipal solid waste" concept, however, there are a number of related terms. Municipal solid waste is defined as a waste that is generated in the course of human activity, accumulated in residential buildings and social institutions and considered as unsuitable for further use at places of its generation. As for the related terms used in foreign and national practice, the term “household waste”, i.e. waste generated directly by households, is more appropriate. Municipal solid waste is a heterogeneous mixture that has a complex waste composition and its quantitative and qualitative characteristics are not constant and depend on characteristics of a certain country, region, city or town where it was generated, season and other factors. Growing volumes of municipal solid waste is one of the components of growing anthropogenic load that poses a threat to environmental safety of the country's regions and public health and negatively affects the state of our environment. The main methods of such solid waste management in Ukraine include landfilling, incineration, recycling and recovery. Out of the total annual waste volume generated on the post-Soviet territories, 93% are taken to landfills or dumpsites, 4% – incinerated, and only about 3% – recycled.
 Therefore, creation and implementation of an effective system of solid waste management is an important task for ensuring environmental safety and sustainable development of the country's regions. Moreover, solid waste is a significant reserve for obtaining secondary material resources. According to the circular economy concept, almost all components of solid waste should be reused for production of new items. This will minimize negative impact on the environment and allow rational use of natural resources. The article analyses the current state of municipal solid waste management system in Odesa Region and assesses resource value of such waste. Secondary raw materials worth of almost UAH 1.4 million can be produced annually from the total flow of municipal solid waste in Odesa Region. And this figure does not take into account liquidity of food and other waste. After establishing an effective food and other organic waste management system, such amount may be significantly increased. Separation of resource-value components from the total solid waste flow and their subsequent use will help to reduce technogenic load on the environmental natural components and improve the overall environmental situation in Odesa Region.

4D Models Generated with UAV Photogrammetry for Landfill Monitoring Thermal Control of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Landfills

The management of the increasing volume of municipal solid waste is an essential activity for the health of the environment and of the population. The organic matter of waste deposited in landfills is subject to aerobic decomposition processes, bacterial aerobic decomposition, and chemical reactions that release large amounts of heat, biogas, and leachates at high temperatures. The control of these by-products enables their recovery, utilization, and treatment for energy use, avoiding emissions to the environment. UAVs with low-cost thermal sensors are a tool that enables the representation of temperature distributions for the thermal control of landfills. This study focuses on the development of a methodology for the generation of 3D thermal models through the projection of TIR image information onto a 3D model generated from RGB images and the identification of thermal anomalies by means of photointerpretation and GIS analysis. The novel methodological approach was implemented at the Meruelo landfill for validation. At the facility, a 4D model (X,Y,Z-temperature) and a 13.8 cm/px GSD thermal orthoimage were generated with a thermal accuracy of 1.63 °C, which enabled the identification of at least five areas of high temperatures associated with possible biogas emissions, decomposing organic matter, or underground fires, which were verified by on-site measurements and photointerpretation of the RGB model, in order to take and assess specific corrective measures.

The Treatment of Municipal Solid Waste in Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam: An Environmental and Technological Analysis of Current and Future Scenarios

The population growth of South-Asian countries is contributing significantly to the escalating volume of municipal solid waste (MSW). Presently, waste management in this region predominantly relies on landfilling, necessitating a shift towards a more sustainable paradigm. To address this imperative, this study explores the feasibility of extending the European-based waste management system for treating MSW in Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam. Assuming as current scenario the direct disposal in landfill, the environmental and technical performances of five other proposed scenarios based on the following technologies were assessed: mechanical–biological treatment; incineration; their combination; mechanical recycling; composting and anaerobic digestion. As expected, all alternative technologies showed potential for improving the current scenario. However, from an environmental point of view, incineration of mixed MSW emerged as the sole option that yielded a discernible environmental benefit for all the countries involved in the study (achieving a carbon footprint of about −0.111 t-CO2-Eq./FU). Recycling-based scenarios achieved higher benefits for Thailand and Vietnam (−0.145 and −0.186 t-CO2-Eq./FU, respectively), but not Cambodia (0.072 t-CO2-Eq./FU) due to the lack of valuable materials to recycle. Technical findings showed how separate collection remains the system generating the least amount of waste for disposal (about 0.185 t), having a synergic effect on the combined approach of mechanical–biological treatment and incineration, which boasts the highest specific energy yield (about 0.339 and 1.183 kW/t, for electric and thermal energy, respectively). These results underscore the imperative to extend the analysis to the economic domain, combining diverse criteria to identify the most sustainable solution.

What establishes citizens' household intention and behavior regarding municipal solid waste separation? A case study in Jiangsu province

Management of municipal solid waste in China requires special attention because China has become the world's largest producer of municipal solid waste, and the overall volume of municipal solid waste produced is still increasing. Recently, local and central Chinese authorities have significantly enhanced municipal solid waste treatment. Therefore, this current study aims to extend the theory of interpersonal behavior with perceived benefits to assess citizens' household municipal solid waste separation intention and behavior in Jiangsu province. This study will help widen and improve the comprehension of the key factors affecting citizens' household municipal solid waste separation. Utilizing data from 615 sampled citizens in Jiangsu, analysis was conducted using partial least squares structural equation modeling. Empirical evidence revealed that affect, attitude, and social factors positively influence citizens' household municipal solid waste separation intentions. Perceived benefits also positively impact citizens' household municipal solid waste separation intentions via attitude. Facilitating conditions influence citizens' household municipal solid waste separation intentions and behaviors. The study also found that facilitating conditions negatively moderated the association between intention and behavior in Jiangsu Province. Habits significantly and positively influenced and moderated citizens' household municipal solid waste separation intentions and behaviors. These findings provide great insights and contributions to pro-environmental research and can be applied to various provinces that value household municipal solid waste separation in China.

Energy production from municipal solid waste in low to middle income countries: a case study of how to build a circular economy in Abuja, Nigeria

The volume of municipal solid waste produced in many cities in low to middle income countries exceeds the capacity of handling facilities causing environmental and health risks. This study provides the most comprehensive analysis to date of municipal solid waste to energy options for Abuja, Nigeria. We use most recently available data on waste generation from Abuja municipal authorities, integrated with secondary data from the literature. This is combined with standard relationships between waste composition and energy production to compare the potential for thermochemical conversion and anaerobic digestion to meet the energy requirement of Abuja. In addition, we use assumptions about digestate production and nitrogen release to estimate the potential production of organic fertilizer from digestate. The organic fraction of municipal solid waste from Abuja [7.1 × 107(±4 × 106) kg y−1] has potential to produce 3.6 × 106(±2 × 105) m3y−1biogas. This could provide 7.8 × 103(±4 × 102) MWh y−1electricity, equivalent to 8% of annual electricity requirement in Abuja, 4.0 × 107(±2 × 106) MJ y−1heat, and 5.3 × 105(±3 × 104) kg y−1digestate use as bio-fertilizer from organic fraction only. Potential power generation by thermochemical conversion for combined heat and electricity is much greater, 7.73 × 104(±4 × 103) MWh y−1, equivalent to 83% of power requirement in Abuja, but does not produce bio-fertilizer. Using the organic fraction for anaerobic digestion and the remaining waste for thermochemical conversion provides combined heat and energy that is 91.5% of Abuja power requirements, while also producing digestate. Barriers to implementation include informal waste recyclers with poor collection and handling procedures, absence of public education, weak environmental policies and lack of funding. There is a need for periodic review of policies and waste legislation to create a circular economy in Abuja.

VECTOR OF “GREEN CONSTRUCTION” IN MODERN CITIES

The article deals with the history of the formation of the scientific direction of urban ecology in the context of the development of domestic urban planning science. The relevance is substantiated by the global processes of the struggle for energy resources, the deterioration of the environment, an increase in the volume of municipal solid waste and an increase in carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere as a result of the use of hydrocarbon energy sources, and other negative processes accompanying the spread of urbanization and industrial production around the world. The development of technologies for "green" urban planning is analyzed in connection with scientific research on the sustainability of regional landscapes to anthropogenic loads and increased requirements for the compensatory properties of landscape frames in the largest cities. Both the concepts of smart cities of the future and measures to gradually improve the quality of the environment in established cities both in Russia and abroad are considered, including with the help of targeted programs "Green City," Green Quarter "and others. The study of these trends seems to be an important scientific problem for the formation of a consistently positive regional environment in terms of the topics of promising research in universities.

Municipal and Industrial Urban Waste: Legal Aspects of Safe Management

Competent management of the production and consumption of waste is the foundation for ensuring a favorable environment in cities and comfortable living conditions for the population. Laws and regulations play a key role in this process since they determine measures aimed at creating conditions for safe waste management, an effective management system in the field of environmental protection from waste pollution. In the cities of many developing countries, including Russia, despite the efforts being made, there is an increase in the volume of municipal solid waste. Solving the problems of waste management has been set as a national task. The article analyzes the current condition of solid waste management systems in developed and developing countries and identifies the features and prospects of waste management, including the one in Russia. It is established that the existing set of organizational, sanitary, and legal measures, and legal regulation of relations and law enforcement practices in the field of solid municipal waste management in many developing countries is still in the forming stage. The positive experiences of countries in implementing sustainable systems of safe waste management and the positions of judicial bodies on controversial issues of waste management in cities can be used as the basis for an environmental policy of safe waste management at all levels of public authority, as well as improving legislation in the field of waste management.

Anaerobic digestion of food waste for biogas production in glass bot-tles

The generation and inadequate disposal of urban solid waste have been a major environmental problem worldwide. The management of solid urban waste generated in large urban centers is problematic and concerning globally. Alternatives are being developed for the treatment of organic solid waste. Brazil has great potential for biogas production, more precisely, biomethane, a component of raw biogas that needs to be purified. Considering the large daily volume of municipal solid waste (MSW) generated in urban centers, the main objective of this study is to develop a biodigestion technique for organic food waste from restaurants, specifically the university restaurant (RU) of UFPR. The experiments were conducted with homogenized and non-homogenized waste with quantities of recyclables added such as plastic, paper, and cardboard at proportions of 0%, 1%, and 5% in the waste mass, and the temperature of 35 and 45°C was controlled for the system's biodigestion. The data were presented as means ± standard deviation. To compare response variables, normality and homoscedasticity were checked, and mean values were evaluated by the one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) tool. The experiments conditioned to a temperature of 35°C showed statistically significant higher cumulative biogas values when compared to 45°C. As for the experiments that varied the percentage of recyclables inside the biodigester, only 12.5% of the experiments conducted with 1% of added recyclables showed higher cumulative biogas volumes in 30 days of production, followed by 37.5% with 5% of recyclables and 50% with 0% of recyclables (control). Compared to the waste treatment experiments (with 2mm treatment ≠ without 2mm treatment), 21% of the experiments that were not treated with 2mm showed statistically significant higher values (p<0.05) for accumulated biogas in 30 days when compared to their respective treated experiments. This study allowed the development of a biodigestion system using glass bottles and demonstrated the behavior of biodigestion when recyclables are added, conditioned to different process routes (wet and dry), in terms of granulometry and temperature (mesophilic and thermophilic).

Smart Cities and Households’ Recyclable Waste Management: The Case of Jeddah

Over the past 30 years, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has recorded rapid economic growth and development rates matched by corresponding levels of consumption. This has led to an exponential increase in the volume of municipal solid waste. Even if the bulk share of this waste is recyclable, the propensity of households to engage in the recycling of waste has so far produced a negligible effect. Arguably, in the context of the pervasive digitalization of public and private spaces, accompanied by the developments in information and communication technology (ICT), best conceptualized by reference to the concepts of smart cities and circular economy, it is natural to expect ICT and policy objectives to converge in order to encourage and enable greater engagement with waste segregation and recycling amongst households. Against this backdrop, this paper explores the feasibility and ways of increasing households’ participation in recyclable waste collection, segregation, and disposal in a context devoid of a top-down city-level waste management policy. To this end, the design thinking approach was employed to identify factors inhibiting/facilitating households’ engaging in recycling. A variety of ideation techniques were adopted in subsequent stages of the design thinking process, including interviews with stakeholders from the government and industry sectors, surveys with Jeddah households (N = 446), an eight week-long recyclable waste collection experiment, and feedback surveys (N = 46). The results suggest that applying relatively simple and resource-savvy tools aimed at promoting household recyclable waste collection has substantial potential. This, in turn, not only feeds into the debate on smart cities but also into the research of public policy.

Dynamic Multi-Compartment Vehicle Routing Problem for Smart Waste Collection

The rapid increase in urbanization results in an increase in the volume of municipal solid waste produced every day, causing overflow of the garbage cans and thus distorting the city’s appearance; for this and environmental reasons, smart cities involve the use of modern technologies for intelligent and efficient waste management. Smart bins in urban environments contain sensors that measure the status of containers in real-time and trigger wireless alarms if the container reaches a predetermined threshold, and then communicate the information to the operations center, which then sends vehicles to collect the waste from the selected stations in order to collect a significant waste amount and reduce transportation costs. In this article, we will address the issue of the Dynamic Multi-Compartmental Vehicle Routing Problem (DM-CVRP) for selective and intelligent waste collection. This problem is summarized as a linear mathematical programming model to define optimal dynamic routes to minimize the total cost, which are the transportation costs and the penalty costs caused by exceeding the bin capacity. The hybridized genetic algorithm (GA) is proposed to solve this problem, and the effectiveness of the proposed approach is verified by extensive numerical experiments on instances given by Valorsul, with some modifications to adapt these data to our problem. Then we were able to ensure the effectiveness of our approach based on the results in the static and dynamic cases, which are very encouraging.

The utilisation of End-of-Life Plastics for the production of paver blocks: A waste management and disposal strategy

The volume of municipal solid waste in developing countries continues to grow, yet disposal and management have become significant challenges. As a result, a proper disposal strategy is required. The feasibility of making paver blocks from plastic waste for construction work was investigated in this study. Paver blocks manufactured from plastic waste (PP and HDPE) and sand in varied proportions were evaluated for compressive strength, water absorption, and abrasion resistance. Paver blocks were manufactured with plastic (PP and HDPE) to sand ratios of 30:70%, 40:60%, 50:50%, 60:40%, and 70:30%, or PP30, PP40, PP50, PP60, and PP70, and HDPE30, HDPE40, HDPE50, HDPE60, and HDPE70. The paver blocks were inspected after 28 days. Compressive strength, LA abrasion, and water absorption of paver blocks increased from 30% to 40% HDPE, then fell to 70%. As paver block PP content grew from 30% to 70%, abrasion and water absorption decreased. The compressive strength of PP paver blocks declined from 30% to 50% PP, then increased somewhat, and then fell to 60% and 70% PP. PP60 and HDPE40 paver blocks had the highest compressive strength, abrasion value, and water absorption. HDPE40 pavers have lesser water absorption and more abrasion than PP60 pavers. PP60 water absorption and abrasion were 0.53% and 11%; HDPE40 was 0.03% and 24.2%. PP60 and HDPE50 have compressive strength, abrasion resistance, and water absorption of 20.09 MPa, 11%, and 0.53%, respectively, and 13.06 MPa, 12.1%, and 0.03%.

Waste to Energy Management for Sustainable Development

"The difficulty of managing the proper treatment of the city concrete waste or municipal solid waste (MSW) is one that affects urbanized environment on a regular basis. As more goods and services are used for a high-life standard, the volume of MSW often rises. Less than 35% of the MSW in the United States gets recycled, while the majority is landfilled. New energy technologies offer the opportunity to minimize the rising MSW burden. Waste-to-energy (WTE) methods including gasification, plasma arc gasification, incineration, and pyrolysis can be used to transform MSW into a significant source of energy. Sources can be produced by various WTE technologies and can be used in place of fossil fuels energy resources. It is expected that the aspects of the stability related to different energy and waste treatments can be improved. The work introduces the creation of a model of WTE plant which is based on one the WTE technology, pyrolysis. This work initially needed to remove energy from the waste for which the study of various waste processing technologies has been done and appropriate waste processing technology is selected. The construction process started by selecting the necessary equipment and some challenges were made and changes were made to fix issues that were born during the construction and testing of the power plant model. The result of this work is the production of fuel from waste, which is stored in both gaseous and liquid form by condensation.

Оценка уровня развития циркулярной экономики в регионах России

Currently, the solution of a whole range of priority tasks of social and economic development of Russia is possible in the conceptual and instrumental framework of the circular economy. In accordance with this concept, the article reveals the content of the circular economy and justifies the importance of its assessment. According to the opinion of the authors, the recognition of the potentially high efficiency and priority of development of a circular economy does not imply its automatic implementation in real economic systems. In practice, the transition to a circular economy requires the development of special mechanisms at different levels of economic hierarchy. The creation of such mechanisms, the definition of their content, instrumental core and resource provision is largely due to the current level of economic circularization, which determines the importance of the development and application of methods for circular economy measurement. The article analyzes the existing Russian and foreign methods of circular economy measurement. China’s considerable experience in the development of the system of indicators for circular economy assessment at the macro-, meso- and microlevels is shown. The paper proves that the indicators characterizing the development of the circular economy are mainly focused on the formation and use of waste, energy intensity and water capacity of the gross regional product, as well as investments in “green” initiatives, the values of which give an idea of the development of the circular economy in various territories. Taking into account this fact, assessment expediency of the circular economy which uses official statistical data at the level of Russian regions is justified. To solve this goal, clustering of the regions of the Russian Federation was carried out according to the indicators of energy intensity of GRP, share of used and neutralized waste in the total volume of waste generated during production and consumption, water capacity of GRP, amount (mass) of generated production and consumption waste per capita, volume of municipal solid waste exported per capita over the year. This assessment made possible to determine the specifics and develop recommendations for the development of the circular economy in the regions of the country.

Characterization and energy potential of municipal solid waste in Osogbo metropolis

The emission of methane from dumpsites remains a significant source of global environmental pollution concern. This study investigated the physical composition and volume of municipal solid waste at the central dumpsite, Egbedi, Osogbo metropolis. The volume of landfill gas and concentration of methane gas that will be produced via anaerobic digestion over a specified period towards the possibility of energy recovery were also estimated. Results from the characterization of the municipal solid waste revealed that organic materials constitute the highest fraction (35.71 %). The energy content of the organic material was determined to be 21,582.8 kJ/kg. The methane generation potential from 2017 to 2025 was estimated to be around 41,125 tonnes by employing the method proposed by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Methane gas emitted can be harvested and utilized as a renewable source of energy thereby mitigating pollution environmental occasioned by the release of methane into the atmosphere from dumpsites most especially from developing countries towards ensuring a sustainable city. • Waste management is a challenge in developing world. • Municipal solid wastes in developing countries have a high organic component. • Methane from landfill gas is a significant contributor to global warming.

Leachate drainage volume of municipal solid waste landfills: field testing and hydro-mechanical modeling.

The leachate drainage volume (LDV) of municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills is crucial to the operation of leachate treatment plant and development at the leachate level, but there is still a lack of reasonable evaluation methods. In this study, the evaluation methods, including both field measurements and numerical simulations, are proposed and applied in the case study of a MSW landfill in Southeastern China. For field measurements, 23 boreholes were drilled to test the leachate level distribution, and thus to determine the saturated volume (SV) of the landfill. The water retention capacity of the drilled samples was tested in a compression cell for a calculation of the undrainage volume (UV) of the landfill, and total LDV was obtained as SV-UV. The total LDV and SV were measured to be 2.31 × 105 m3 and 1.08 × 106 m3, respectively, which indicated a total leachate drainage percentage (LDV/SV) of 22%. For numerical simulations, a hydro-mechanical model is established to predict the daily LDV during layered landfilling. The model couples leachate flow and MSW compression, which are two fundamental processes determining daily LDV. As the model takes into account the leachate generation caused by the compression of MSW, the prediction has a good agreement with the measurement. If ignoring compression, the daily LDV will be underestimated by a percentage of 35%-50%. This study provides basic information and an assessment framework of leachate drainage volume and contributes to leachate management in landfills.

This article presents an analysis of waste collection at the landfill of municipal solid waste (hereinafter - MSW) LLP "KazEcoProm", located in the north - east of Kazakhstan, in one of the industrial centres of the country in the city of Pavlodar. In addition, in the Pavlodar region there are about one thousand industrial enterprises generating municipal solid waste. In the paper, the analysis of the amount of production and consumption waste generated by industrial processes and life processes that arrive at the landfill. The analysis considered the types of waste entering the landfill: volumes of municipal solid waste, construction and ash and slag waste. It also provided for the implementation of landfill activities in accordance with sanitary requirements. The implementation of activities of the landfill that meet the sanitary requirements is also analysed. The work reflects the conditions of accumulation and disposal of waste: the volume of accumulated waste and the design capacity of the landfill as of July 1, 2020 is compared, the annual volume of waste produced in 2020-2023, the amount of their storage and sorting are given. The data obtained can be used in determining compliance with waste storage and collection standards as well as sanitary regulations at landfills.
