VoIP-aware network attack detection based on statistics and behavior of SIP traffic

VoIP is one of the most popular Internet services. However, VoIP service is vulnerable to several potential security threats. Moreover, existing IP-based security solutions are unable to inspect call setup information. In this paper, we propose a VoIP-aware attack-detection scheme. The proposed scheme is able to detect VoIP network attacks including VoIP DoS and SPAM. It can detect VoIP DoS attacks with low false negatives using a statistics-based detection algorithm and can recognize SPAM with low false positives using a caller behavior-based detection algorithm. We have included experimental results to confirm the proposed scheme.

향상된 Multi Gray-Leveling을 통한 VoIP 스팸 탐지 기법

In this paper, we propose an improved Multi Gray-Leveling scheme which reduces the problems of the existing Multi Gray-Leveling scheme suggested as a way of prevention against call spam in VoIP environment. The existing scheme having two different time period distinguishes the possibility of call spam by checking the call interval, so that it prevents the spammer`s avoidance controlling the call interval. This is the strength of the existing one but it can misunderstand the normal user as a spammer due to taking long term time period. To solve this problem, this paper proposes the upgrade scheme which utilizes the receiver`s action pattern as well as the caller`s action pattern. It has such a good strength that can do gray leveling via the collected information in the database of VoIP service provider without user`s direct involvement. Hence it can be a very effective way of VoIP spam detection.

유무선 VoIP 취약점 분석과 해킹공격 및 보안 연구

Recently VoIP has provided voice(both wired and wireless from IP-based) as well as the transmission of multimedia information. VoIP used All-IP type, Gateway type, mVoIP etc. Wired and wireless VoIP has security vulnerabilities that VoIP call control signals, illegal eavesdropping, service misuse attacks, denial of service attack, as well as wireless vulnerabilities etc. from WiFi Zone. Therefore, the analysis of security vulnerabilities in wired and wireless VoIP and hacking incidents on security measures for research and study is needed. In this paper, VoIP (All-IP type, and for Gateway type) for system and network scanning, and, IP Phone to get the information and analysis of the vulnerability. All-IP type and Gateway type discovered about the vulnerability of VoIP hacking attacks (Denial of Service attacks, VoIP spam attacks) is carried out. And that is a real VoIP system installed and operated in the field of security measures through research and analysis is proposed.

MVoIP Vulnerability Analysis And its Countermeasures on Smart Phone

mVoIP (mobile Voice over Internet Protocol) service is a technology to transmit voice data through an IP network using mobile device. mVoIP provides various supplementary services with low communication cost. It can maximize the availability and efficiency by using IP-based network resources. In addition, the users can use voice call service at any time and in any place, as long as they can access the Internet on mobile device easily. However, SIP on mobile device is exposed to IP-based attacks and threats. Observed cyber threats to SIP services include wiretapping, denial of service, and service misuse, VoIP spam which are also applicable to existing IP-based networks. These attacks are also applicable to SIP and continuously cause problems. In this study, we analysis the threat and vulnerability on mVoIP service and propose several possible attack scenarios on existing mobile VoIP devices. Based on a proposed analysis and vulnerability test mechanism, we can construct more enhanced SIP security mechanism and stable mobile VoIP service framework after eliminating its vulnerability on mobile telephony system.
