The most renowned personality of Indian literature is the legendary Rabindranath Tagore [Birth: 7 May 1861, Kolkata-Death: 7 August 1941, Kolkata], best known Bengali poet and mystic. Tagore achieved fame as a poet, writer, novelist, essayist, musician, lecturer, painter, composer, philosopher and social reformer. In 1913, he was the first Indian to be awarded Nobel Prize in literature for ‘Gitanjali’, the book which encircles the collection of poems which are an appeal to god. He is a voice of India's spirituality and backbone of Indian literature. Tagore is profoundly known for his emotional, natural and resplendent verses. He has acknowledged poetic thoughts, expressed in his own English words. He worked as an intermediate in spreading the art of literature. Every Indian can proudly say that they were born in rich land of literature, where the personality like Rabindranath Tagore had taken birth. We lost a great man but his memories are still alive through his work in our heart and inspire us.
