Transformational leadership and job satisfaction in vocational high schools in Türkiye: a multilevel mediation model of teacher professional learning and self-efficacy

PurposeIn recent decades, researchers have increasingly begun to study the effects of transformational leadership on various teachers’ attitudes in K-12 settings. However, studies on the effect of transformational leadership on the job satisfaction of vocational high school teachers are not sufficient. Therefore, in this study, the nature of the relationship between transformational leadership and job satisfaction in Turkish vocational high schools was examined.Design/methodology/approachThe study data came from 847 teachers working at 82 state vocational high schools located in 12 regions in Türkiye. To test the research model, we conducted multilevel structural equation modeling to explore the structural relationships between transformational leadership, teacher professional learning, teacher’ self-efficacy and job satisfaction.FindingsThe analysis confirms that teacher professional learning and self-efficacy are prominent mediators in the relationship between transformational leadership and job satisfaction in Turkish vocational high schools.Originality/valueThe present study is expected to contribute to the body of research focusing on the effects of transformational leadership on job satisfaction in vocational high schools. Implications for theory, practice and policy are discussed.

Analysis of Curriculum Policy Implementation Freedom to Study at State Vocational High School in Batubara Regency

This research aims to analyze the implementation of the curriculum policy of the Merdeka Study in the State vocational high school of Batu Bara District, concerning Ristek Permendikbud No. 56 Year 2022 and No. 262 Year 2022. The research theory trail uses the framework of Edward III's policy implementation theory. The research method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Data was collected through interviews, documentation, and observations, involving respondents consisting of the Head of the Department of Education of Region V, the Head of School, Business Staff, and the State vocational high school Teacher in Batu Bara District. The results of the research show that the implementation of the curriculum policy Merdeka Learning in the State SMC of Batu Bara County is running well, supported by clear communication transmission processes, adequate resources, positive disposal, and an effective bureaucratic structure.

Analysis of improving innovative work behaviour of vocational high school teachers in terms of servant leadership with knowledge sharing as an intervening variable

The purpose of this research is to describe the innovative work behavior of vocational high school teachers in terms of servant leadership which is intervened by knowledge sharing. This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The sampling technique was simple random sampling which came from vocational high school teachers from the provinces of East Java, Central Java, West Java, DKI Jakarta, Banten, Riau Islands, and South Sumatra with a total of 165 teachers. Data analysis techniques using descriptive analysis and path analysis. Results: The dimension of the teacher's innovative work behavior, namely with the intent of benefit to the organization has the highest score and the idea promotion dimension has the lowest score. Servant leadership has a positive and significant influence on knowledge sharing with a contribution of 42.3%. knowledge sharing has a positive and significant influence on innovative work behavior with a contribution of 58.4%. Knowledge sharing cannot be an intervening variable of servant leadership on innovative work behavior because the path analysis results show that servant leadership does not directly affect innovative work behavior through knowledge sharing. The implication is that city or district education offices must further enhance the idea promotion exploration of teachers through training or workshops and maintain that with the intent of benefit to the organization of teachers through servant leadership style and knowledge sharing of teachers and school principals.

Measuring the impact of principals' competence and facilities on teachers' achievement in Public Vocational High Schools in Palembang City: A multivariate analysis

The level of teacher performance in carrying out their main duties at school is greatly influenced by the competence of the school principal and the completeness of school facilities. This study examines the influence of school principals' competence and the completeness of school facilities on the performance of vocational high school (SMK) teachers in Palembang City. Employing a quantitative correlational design, the study involved 55 teachers from three vocational high schools.. The research instrument was validated using Pearson Product Moment, and data reliability was verified using the Cronbach Alpha test. The research results reveal that (1) the principal's competence is related to teacher performance, and the principal's competence has minimal influence on the performance of vocational school teachers. (2) Facilities and infrastructure were found to be related to vocational school teacher performance. Facilities and infrastructure have a significant effect on the performance of vocational school teachers. (3) The competence of the school principal, facilities and infrastructure have a significant influence on the performance of vocational school teachers. These findings underscore the importance of developing school leadership and enhancing facilities to support teacher performance. The study invites further research to explore additional factors affecting teacher performance and strategic implementation to improve the quality of vocational education. Implications for educational practice include the enhancement of leadership training programs and investment in adequate educational infrastructure.

A study on Taiwan's vocational senior high school teachers' teaching identity and teaching transformation when facing a new competency-based curriculum.

The competency of education is advocated in the 2023 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. UNESCO encourages countries to provide inclusive, equitable, competency education and lifelong learning opportunities for all. Starting from 2019, 12-Year-Basic-Education, a new curriculum, was fully implemented in Taiwan to conform to the competency education strategy. For the teachers on site, teachers' understanding of the new curriculum and teaching practice has a direct impact on the competency of the implementation of this new policy. The main purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between vocational senior high school teachers' competency-oriented teaching, teaching identity and teaching transformation regarding this new curriculum. In order to effectively expand teachers' understanding of competency-oriented teaching identity, this study put forward 6 hypothetical approaches based on the implicit theory of teaching transformation. The 747 valid questionnaires accounted for 97.1% of the total recovered questionnaires. The reliability and validity analyses, as well as overall model fitting analysis and research model validation were performed on these valid questionnaires. The results of the study showed: (1) With the background of Competency-oriented teaching, teachers' teaching attitude and teaching willingness has a positive impact on teaching identity; (2) teachers' teaching identity has a positive impact on teaching preparation, teaching practice, further study, three types of teaching transformation. In summary, three conclusions from this study were concluded on the aspects of teaching preparation, teaching practice and further study on practical competency-oriented teaching, teaching identity and teaching transformation in the educational field. Three conclusions were derived for the relationships among these six constructs: (1) Teachers with a "good attitude" and "strong willingness" to teach, a "high sense of identification" acceptance and full implement of "teaching preparation" are considered as teachers with a "foresight and a visionary predictive style"; (2) Teachers with a high sense of self-awareness who can fully practice "teaching practice" are teachers with a "pragmatic teaching by example style"; (3) Teachers with a "good attitude," a "strong willingness" to teach, a "high sense of identification" acceptance and who are able to fully practice "advanced research" are considered as teachers with an "empowerment-enhancing coaching style".

Teacher growth mindset and ICT integration in Indonesian classrooms: insights from in-service and preservice teacher programs

PurposeThis study explores the relationships among multiple factors, including growth mindset, lifelong learning and continuous professional development (CPD), influencing teachers’ integration of information and communication technology (ICT) into their teaching methods.Design/methodology/approachThe study involved 1,095 Indonesian vocational high school teachers who participated in in-service or preservice teacher development programs. Data was collected through a survey, and a structural equation model with partial least squares parameter estimation was used to analyze the relationships and mediations.FindingsStructural equation modeling revealed that a growth mindset positively affects both lifelong learning and CPD. Moreover, lifelong learning positively impacts CPD. Furthermore, all of these variables demonstrate a positive effect on teachers’ ICT integration in the classroom. The findings indicate that lifelong learning and CPD partially mediate the relationship between a growth mindset and ICT integration.Originality/valueThis study contributes to the literature on the determinants of teachers’ ICT usage postparticipation in in-service and preservice teacher programs. The findings underscore the significant impact of a growth mindset on teachers’ ICT use in the classroom.

Investigating Vocational High School Instructors' Views on Mobile Learning in the "Tourism English Conversation" Course

This research delved into the perspectives of English teachers in vocational high schools towards mobile learning (m-learning) in the "Tourism English Conversation" course. It involved interviews with eleven teachers from public vocational high schools in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. These interviews explored various facets of m-learning, such as teachers' knowledge of mobile devices and apps, the widespread use of the Internet and mobile devices, instructional materials, and its impact on students' learning duration and concentration. The study focused on three aspects of mobile learning: its acceptance, teachers' readiness to adopt it, and the challenges they face in shifting from traditional to mobile teaching methods. Findings revealed a positive reception towards m-learning, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic when traditional classroom teaching was impossible. Nonetheless, the effective implementation of m-learning was influenced by teachers' familiarity with the technology, student motivation, the availability of relevant instructional materials, and the pressures associated with teaching in this new format.

The Influence of Teacher Professional Attitude, Welfare, Continuous Self-Development, and Job Satisfaction on High School Teachers Performance

This study aims to determine the influence of teacher professional attitude, teacher welfare, teacher continuous self-development, and teacher job satisfaction on the performance of vocational high school teachers. This quantitative research used a correlational type. The sample of this research encompassed 155 vocational high school teachers, especially business and management teachers in Surakarta Residency, Central Java, Indonesia. The data were collected using a questionnaire which was tested for validity and reliability before being used. This research employed the Structural Equation Modelling analysis technique operated by Linear Structural Relationship. This study found that the teacher's professional attitude affected teacher welfare (t-count 5.27), but did not affect teacher continuous self-development (t-count 1.14), teacher job satisfaction (t-count -0.29), and teacher performance (t-count 0.55). Teacher welfare was confirmed to affect teacher continuous self-development (t-count of 2.94) and job satisfaction (t-count of 2.38), but not influence teacher performance (t-count -0.59). However, teacher continuous self-development was proven not to impact teacher job satisfaction (t-count value of 0.21) but impacted teacher performance (t-count value of 2.40). Meanwhile, job satisfaction had no impact on teacher performance (the t-count value of 1.53). The findings of this study can be used by policymakers to pay attention to improving teacher performance to the maximum and further researchers can examine other factors affecting teacher performance. An Analysis of Technological Content Knowledge (TCK) of English Teachers in Vocational High School

Technological Content Knowledge (TCK) is the knowledge of integrating technology into learning materials. The previous research examined TCK in many fields of education, such as history, elementary school teacher education, mathematics, biology, and science. However, TCK study in the English field is still under-researched. Therefore, this study aims to find the English teacher's knowledge of TCK. This study employed a qualitative approach with narrative inquiry design. The researchers used interviews, observation, and documentation to collect the data. The samples of this study are three English teachers in vocational high schools recruited based on several criteria determined by researchers. The finding showed that all participants mastered various technologies to deliver learning and could combine the two things well to achieve learning objectives. It can be concluded that all participants have a good level of knowledge of TCK.

특성화고 예비신입생 및 학부모의 고교 진학 준비과정 분석: 서울 지역을 중심으로

The purpose of this study is to explore ways to improve vocational high school admissions support. Accordingly, in order to analyze the experiences of vocational high school students in the high school preparation process, a survey was conducted targeting vocational high school freshmen and their parents. The main results of the study are as follows.
 First, many students considered their career path and aptitude at the stage of deciding to go on to vocational high school, and some were concerned about society's negative views. Second, awareness of the support policy for university admissions to vocational high schools was high, but awareness of other support policies was found to be low. Third, the motivation for entering vocational high school was often consistent with the purpose of establishing vocational high schools, there were some students who decided to enroll because of their grades or college admission. Fourth, in the case of vocational high school admission and career guidance, middle school and vocational high school teachers were found to be of great help, but satisfaction with middle schools career guidance was relatively low. Fifth, in terms of vocational high school admission information, the need for continuous provision of information and the difficulty in collecting specific information for major or admission preparation were confirmed. Based on the research results, improvement methods were presented to communicate a consistent message to create a positive image of vocational high schools, strengthen advancement and career guidance training for middle school and vocational high school teachers, provide specific major information for admission support.

Higher Order Thinking Skills in Reading Literacy Questions at Vocational High Schools in Indonesia

This research is motivated by the demands of every student to have high-level thinking skills or known as HOTS. This ability can be known if the instrument used is classified as a question that requires high-level thinking skills. The purpose of this study was to analyze the fulfillment and percentage of indicators of high-level thinking skills in the minimum competency assessment of reading literacy at SMK Negeri Pekanbaru city. This research is qualitative research using a content analysis method. Data were collected using documentation techniques in the form of reading literacy questions obtained from teachers of Vocational High Schools throughout Pekanbaru City. The results showed that the AKM instrument was reading literacy with 79% HOTS category and 21% non-HOTS questions. In general, the question instructions have led to HOTS questions. The instrument contains dimensions that measure critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills. Another thing that needs to be considered is how the instruments used can be developed using standardized instrument development steps so that the expected results can be recognized as true

This study aimed to design the competencies of Teachers in Charge of the Vocational High School Credit System and to calculate their educational needs, utilizing The Locus for Focus Model for analysis. The research questions set for this study were as follows: First, what are the competencies of Teachers in Charge of the Vocational High School Credit System? Second, what is the educational need for each competency of these operators? Third, what are the priorities of these educational needs? The specific research results are as follows: Firstly, based on the literature review, a total of 31 competencies in 5 areas were identified for Teachers in Charge of the Vocational High School Credit System, which were finally reviewed through expert FGI. Notably, competencies in the curriculum organization and operation area, such as 'Ability to Organize School Curriculum Planning Meetings' and 'Ability to Organize Vocational High School Credit System Curriculum Operation Meetings', were emphasized as crucial. Secondly, across all areas, teachers' current performance levels were found to be lower than the importance of these competencies, with high educational needs identified. Particularly, the 'Introduction Environment Creation' and 'Curriculum Organization' areas showed the highest educational needs. Thirdly, based on the LF model, a total of 10 competencies were identified as top priority for Teachers in Charge of the Vocational High School Credit System, especially in the areas of 'Introduction Environment Creation', 'Curriculum Organization', and 'Career and Life Guidance'. Based on these findings, the recommendations are as follows: Firstly, stepwise training programs should be developed based on the identified competencies and priorities to enhance the capabilities of these teachers. Secondly, differentiated educational training programs should be designed and provided based on the prioritized competencies. Thirdly, detailed support from the Ministry of Education and local education offices is necessary for the successful establishment of the 2022 revised curriculum and the high school credit system. Fourthly, further research is needed on the competencies related to the credit system for vocational high school teachers, tailored to different types of teachers.

Improving the IT Competence of Vocational High School Teachers with Internet of Things Training Based on ESP 8266

Abstract. This training aims to improve participants' understanding and skills of SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta Teachers in developing IoT applications using the ESP8266 module. The employed training techniques encompass both theoretical and practical modules, as well as interactive group discussions. Trainees are interested in technology and want to expand their knowledge of IoT. During the training, participants were given an understanding of the basic concepts of IoT, an introduction to the ESP8266 module, and how to use the Arduino IDE for microcontroller programming. The results of this dedication show a significant increase in participants' understanding and skills after attending the training. Participants can understand the basic principles of wireless communication, install, and configure the ESP8266 module, and develop simple IoT applications. Evaluation of the participants showed high satisfaction with this training. The training was deemed highly beneficial and applicable to the participants' everyday routines. Participants also feel more confident in facing challenges in developing IoT applications. The training program is expected to yield enduring advantages, foster indigenous ingenuity, and enhance community engagement with the Internet of Things (IoT) technology.

Perceptions of Vocational High School Teachers on Organizational Commitment: Malatya Example

This research tries to determine the perceptions of vocational high school teachers about organizational commitment. In this context, it is aimed to determine the internal and external factors affecting the organizational commitment of vocational high school teachers and to determine the effects of administrators on teachers' organizational commitment. The universe of the research consists of teachers working in vocational high schools in Battalgazi and Yeşilyurt districts of Malatya. 21 teachers working in the same districts participated in the research. The Phenomenology design of qualitative research was used as the research method. The data were collected with a semi-structured interview form with 4 questions aiming to reveal the internal and external factors affecting the organizational commitment of vocational high school teachers and analyzed with descriptive analysis technique.
 In the results of working; It has been determined that the school management's attitude, the harmony of the teacher staff and the school branch harmony come to the fore among the in-school factors affecting the commitment. While the culture lesson teachers talk about the disadvantages they experience in vocational high school due to their branches; on the other hand, vocational course teachers emphasized the advantages of their branches. While it was determined that the most positive factors affecting the teachers' commitment levels out of school, social activities, related parents and the positive image of the school outside, it was determined that individual problems arising from their private lives, financial dissatisfaction and loss of professional reputation also negatively affected their commitment. of teachers; It has been determined that the situation they expect the most from school administrators and senior management is to be valued. In addition, it was concluded that teachers and administrators should always have a positive view of events.

Analysis of Implementation of Guidance and Counseling Post Pandemic Covid 19 as a Basis for Service Development: High Schools, Vocational High Schools and Madrasah Aliyah

<p><strong>Analysis of Implementation of Guidance and Counseling Post Pandemic Covid 19 as a Basis for Service Development: High Schools, Vocational High Schools and Madrasah Aliyah</strong>. The aim of the research is to analyze the implementation of post-pandemic covid 19 guidance and counseling services in senior high schools, vocational schools and Islamic high schools. The research method uses a quantitative survey method approach. The research subjects were 72 high school students. Random sampling technique. The instrument used was in the form of a questionnaire which totaled 29 questions packaged in a google form. The questionnaire was tested for legibility and validity with the acquisition of an r count of 0.635 > R table0.2126. Data analysis using percentages. The results of the study found that the implementation of post-Covid 19 Guidance and Counseling services was utilized by students through guidance and counseling teachers. However, problem solving is only felt by some students because solutions are still in the form of advice and punishment, the majority of services are carried out online using whatshap and zoom/google meet and are focused on responsive services, namely individual counseling and group guidance, the field of tutoring is more dominantly carried out, so it becomes a record for Vocational High School teachers to provide more career guidance. <em>Research findings can become the basis for developing advanced services and considering related parties so that guidance and counseling services can be fully integrated and in achieving educational goals</em></p><p class="06IsiAbstrak"> </p><strong>Keywords:</strong> Guidance and counseling services; Post covid 19; High Schools, Vocational High Schools and Madrasah Aliyah

Customer perceptions regarding the comparison between fulfilling needs and desires and the accuracy of delivery to balance customer expectations which are closely related to the quality of products, services and human resources are called Service Quality. Teachers are the main aspect and key determinant of successful learning, policy implementation and creative, innovative efforts, as well as the democratization of education. Teachers are the main players and spearheads in the world of education. Therefore, the existence of programs that concretely always support, accompany and help to continue to develop the personal and professional qualities of teachers is a guarantee for brilliant education. Based on preliminary research, it is known that the permanent foundation teachers (GTY) of PGRI Vocational High Schools (SMK) in Bogor Regency have relatively suboptimal service quality. Therefore, research is needed to obtain information on variables related to improving service quality. The aim of this research is to make efforts to improve the quality of service for vocational school teachers by conducting research on the influence of the variables knowledge management, interpersonal communication, organizational support and job satisfaction. This research uses the path analysis method to determine the influence between the variables studied and the SITOREM method for indicator analysis in order to obtain optimal solutions in an effort to improve the quality of vocational school teacher services.

Optimasi Organizational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB) Guru Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) Melalui Penguatan Knowledge Management, Kecerdasan Adversitas, Efikasi Diri, Budaya Organisasi dan Motivasi Kerja

Teachers who successfully carry out their main duties as stated in their job descriptions plus the awareness of doing something extra are the key to organizational success. Extra activities that are not directly related to the formal reward system in place are called OCB (Organizational Citizenship Behavior). Based on preliminary research, it is known that permanent foundation teachers (GTY) of PGRI Vocational High Schools (SMK) in Bogor Regency have relatively low OCB. Therefore, research is needed to obtain information on variables related to increasing OCB. The aim of this research is to make efforts to increase vocational school teachers' OCB by conducting research on the influence of knowledge management variables, self-efficacy adversity intelligence, organizational culture and work motivation. This research uses the path analysis method to determine the influence between the variables studied and the SITOREM method for indicator analysis in order to obtain optimal solutions in efforts to increase vocational school teachers' OCB.
