Lepton Flavour Universality in Rare B Decays

Tests of lepton flavour universality in rare decays of b hadrons mediated by flavour-changing neutral-current transitions constitute sensitive probes for physics beyond the standard model. In recent years, such tests have become increasingly precise and have attracted significant theoretical and experimental attention. In this article, we review the status of searches for lepton flavour universality violations in these processes and discuss prospects for future measurements at various facilities.

Observation of D_{s}^{+}→η^{'}μ^{+}ν_{μ}, Precision Test of Lepton Flavor Universality with D_{s}^{+}→η^{(')}l^{+}ν_{l}, and First Measurements of D_{s}^{+}→η^{(')}μ^{+}ν_{μ} Decay Dynamics.

By analyzing 7.33 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} annihilation data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226GeV with the BESIII detector, we report the observation of the semileptonic decay D_{s}^{+}→η^{'}μ^{+}ν_{μ}, with a statistical significance larger than 10σ, and the measurements of the D_{s}^{+}→ημ^{+}ν_{μ} and D_{s}^{+}→η^{'}μ^{+}ν_{μ} decay dynamics for the first time. The branching fractions of D_{s}^{+}→ημ^{+}ν_{μ} and D_{s}^{+}→η^{'}μ^{+}ν_{μ} are determined to be (2.235±0.051_{stat}±0.052_{syst})% and (0.801±0.055_{stat}±0.028_{syst})%, respectively, with precision improved by factors of 6.0 and 6.6 compared to the previous best measurements. Combined with the results for the decays D_{s}^{+}→ηe^{+}ν_{e} and D_{s}^{+}→η^{'}e^{+}ν_{e}, the ratios of the decay widths are examined both inclusively and in several ℓ^{+}ν_{ℓ} four-momentum transfer ranges. No evidence for lepton flavor universality violation is found within the current statistics. The products of the hadronic form factors f_{+,0}^{η^{(')}}(0) and the c→s Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |V_{cs}| are determined. The results based on the two-parameter series expansion are f_{+,0}^{η}(0)|V_{cs}|=0.452±0.010_{stat}±0.007_{syst} and f_{+,0}^{η^{'}}(0)|V_{cs}|=0.504±0.037_{stat}±0.012_{syst}, which help to constrain present models on f_{+,0}^{η^{(')}}(0). The forward-backward asymmetries are determined to be ⟨A_{FB}^{η}⟩=-0.059±0.031_{stat}±0.005_{syst} and ⟨A_{FB}^{η^{'}}⟩=-0.064±0.079_{stat}±0.006_{syst} for the first time, which are consistent with the theoretical calculation.

Beyond the Standard Model prospects for kaon physics at future experiments

Rare kaon decays offer a powerful tool for investigating new physics in s → d transitions. Currently, many of the interesting decay modes are either measured with rather large uncertainties compared to their theoretical predictions or have not yet been observed. The future HIKE programme at CERN will provide unprecedented sensitivity to rare kaon decays, allowing for strong constraints on new physics scenarios with lepton flavour universality violation. We present the overall picture that emerges from a study of the different decay modes with a global analysis considering projections based on the HIKE programme, both with and without KOTO-II future measurements. We also highlight the most relevant decays and identify that in addition to the “golden channel”, K+→π+νν¯\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$ {K}^{+}\ o {\\pi}^{+}\ u \\overline{\ u} $$\\end{document}, the rare KL→π0ℓℓ¯\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$ {K}_L\ o {\\pi}^0\\ell \\overline{\\ell} $$\\end{document} decay, especially in the electron sector offers strong constraints on short-distance physics.

Heavy neutral lepton corrections to SM boson decays: lepton flavour universality violation in low-scale seesaw realisations

We study lepton flavour universality violation in SM boson decays in low-scale seesaw models of neutrino mass generation, also addressing other electroweak precision observables. We compute the electroweak next-to-leading order corrections, which turn out to be important – notably in the case of the invisible decay width of the Z boson, for which the corrections can be as large as the current experimental uncertainty. As a well-motivated illustrative study case, we choose a realisation of the Inverse Seesaw mechanism, and discuss the complementary role of lepton flavour conserving, lepton flavour violating and precision observables, both in constraining and in probing such models of neutrino mass generation. Our findings suggest that invisible Z decays are especially important, potentially at the origin of the most stringent constraints for certain regimes of the Inverse Seesaw (while complying with charge lepton flavour violation and other electroweak precision tests). We also discuss the probing power of the considered observables in view of the expected improvement in experimental precision at FCC-ee.

We benefit from the lattice QCD determination by the HPQCD of the Standard Model (SM) form factors for the B¯s→Ds\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$ {\\overline{B}}_s\ o {D}_s $$\\end{document} [Phys. Rev. D101 (2020) 074513] and the SM and tensor ones for the B¯s→Ds∗\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$ {\\overline{B}}_s\ o {D}_s^{\\ast } $$\\end{document} (arXiv:2304.03137 [hep-lat]) semileptonic decays, and the heavy quark effective theory (HQET) relations for the analogous B → D(*) decays obtained by F.U. Bernlochner et al. in Phys. Rev. D95 (2017) 115008, to extract the leading and sub-leading Isgur-Wise functions for the B¯s→Ds∗\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$ {\\overline{B}}_s\ o {D}_s^{\\left(\\ast \\right)} $$\\end{document} decays. Further use of the HQET relations allows us to evaluate the corresponding scalar, pseudoscalar and tensor form factors needed for a phenomenological study of new physics (NP) effects on the B¯s→Ds∗\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$ {\\overline{B}}_s\ o {D}_s^{\\left(\\ast \\right)} $$\\end{document} semileptonic decay. At present, the experimental values for the ratios RD∗=ΓB¯→D∗τ−ν¯τ/ΓB¯→D∗e−μ−ν¯eμ\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$ {\\mathcal{R}}_{D^{\\left(\\ast \\right)}}=\\Gamma \\left[\\overline{B}\ o {D}^{\\left(\\ast \\right)}{\ au}^{-}{\\overline{\ u}}_{\ au}\\left]/\\Gamma \\right[\\overline{B}\ o {D}^{\\left(\\ast \\right)}{e}^{-}\\left({\\mu}^{-}\\right){\\overline{\ u}}_{e\\left(\\mu \\right)}\\right] $$\\end{document} are the best signal in favor of lepton flavor universality violation (LFUV) seen in charged current (CC) b → c decays. In this work we conduct a study of NP effects on the B¯s→Ds∗τ−ν¯τ\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$ {\\overline{B}}_s\ o {D}_s^{\\left(\\ast \\right)}{\ au}^{-}{\\overline{\ u}}_{\ au } $$\\end{document} semileptonic decays by comparing tau spin, angular and spin-angular asymmetry distributions obtained within the SM and three different NP scenarios. As expected from SU(3) light-flavor symmetry, we get results close to the ones found in a similar analysis of the B¯→D∗\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$ \\overline{B}\ o {D}^{\\left(\\ast \\right)} $$\\end{document} case. The measurement of the B¯s→Ds∗ℓν¯ℓ\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$ {\\overline{B}}_s\ o {D}_s^{\\left(\\ast \\right)}\\ell {\\overline{\ u}}_{\\ell } $$\\end{document} semileptonic decays, which is within reach of present experiments, could then be of relevance in helping to establish or rule out LFUV in CC b → c transitions.

A Lesson from RττK(*)$R_{\tau \tau }^{K^{(\ast )}}$ and RννK(*)$R_{\nu \nu }^{K^{(\ast )}}$ at Belle II

AbstractWithin the assumption of Left‐Handed (LH) New Physics (NP), the relations between and for several Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) scenarios are reviewed, commonly considered to explain the Lepton flavor Universality (LFU) violation observed in charged and neutral‐current semileptonic B decays. The latest world averages that include the recent LHCb measurement and assess the possibility of simultaneously explaining B‐anomalies without spoiling current bounds on di‐neutrino and di‐tau modes are employed. This is particularly relevant in light of the upcoming results by Belle II on neutrinos and the continuing improvement in accuracy and sensitivity achieved in tau modes.

Investigating the potential of [formula omitted] to probe lepton flavor universality violation

In this work we study the potential of the lepton flavor ratios RKτμ≡Γ(B→Kτ+τ−)/Γ(B→Kμ+μ−) and RK⁎τμ≡Γ(B→K⁎τ+τ−)/Γ(B→K⁎μ+μ−) to probe lepton flavor universality (LFU) violation in τ−μ sector. We show that these ratios can deviate from their SM values even if the new physics couplings are universal in nature, i.e., having equal couplings to e, μ and τ leptons. Therefore in order to utilize these observables to probe LFU violation, we need to compare the allowed range of RK(⁎)τμ for class of solutions with only universal couplings to leptons and solutions having both universal and non-universal components. For the current b→sℓℓ (ℓ=e,μ) data, we find that these two class of solutions can be discriminated provided the measured value of RK⁎τμ is greater than the SM prediction.

Superconducting shield for the injection channel of the muEDM experiment at PSI

At the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), we are setting up an experiment to search for the electric dipole moment (EDM) of the muon using the frozen-spin technique. The discovery of a muon EDM would indicate violation of charge conjugation parity symmetry (CP-violation) and lepton flavor universality, beyond the Standard Model. The experiment aims to achieve a sensitivity of σ(dμ ) ≤ 6 × 10-23 e · cm.This study is taking place during the first phase of the experiment and it focuses on the off-axis injection of muons into a 3 T storage solenoid. Muons need to be transported from the exit of the PSI beamline, a low magnetic-field region, into the strong magnetic-field of the solenoid. For this purpose, two magnetically shielded channels are being developed. In the direct vicinity of the injection helix inside the solenoid bore, we will use superconducting (SC) shielding to avoid any hysteresis effect, while farther away in the fringe field we will use iron tubes. Three prototypes of SC injection tubes will be produced: the first will use a commercial high temperature superconducting (HTS) tape wrapped around a hollow copper tube, the second will utilize several Nb-Ti/Nb/Cu sheets obtained from CERN, wrapped and mechanically clamped around another hollow copper tube, while the third will consist of a commercial cast Bi-2223 superconducting tube coiled with HTS tape. To evaluate the effectiveness of the different SC-shields, we will measure their shielding factors and determine the muon injection efficiency from the beamline into the solenoid.

We present a model based on S1 scalar leptoquarks to solve the tension observed in the recently proposed non-leptonic optimized observables LK∗K¯∗\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$ {L}_{K^{\\ast }{\\overline{K}}^{\\ast }} $$\\end{document} and LKK¯\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$ {L}_{K\\overline{K}} $$\\end{document}. These observables are constructed as ratios of U-spin related decays based on Bd,s0→K∗0K¯∗0\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$ {B}_{d,s}^0\ o {K}^{\\left(\\ast \\right)0}{\\overline{K}}^{\\left(\\ast \\right)0} $$\\end{document}. The model gives a one-loop contribution to the Wilson coefficient of the chromomagnetic dipole operator needed to explain the tension in both non-leptonic observables, while naturally avoiding large contributions to the corresponding electromagnetic dipoles. The necessary chiral enhancement comes from an O(1) Yukawa coupling with a TeV-scale right-handed neutrino running in the loop. We endow the model with a U(2) flavor symmetry, necessary to protect light-family flavor observables that otherwise would be in tension. Furthermore, we show that the same S1 scalar leptoquark is capable of simultaneously explaining the hints of lepton flavor universality violation observed in charged-current B-decays. The model therefore provides a potential link between two puzzles in B-physics and TeV-scale neutrino mass generation. Finally, the combined explanation of the B-physics puzzles unavoidably results in an enhancement of BB→Kνν¯\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$ \\mathcal{B}\\left(B\ o K\ u \\overline{\ u}\\right) $$\\end{document}, yielding a value close to present bounds.

Probing the muon (g − 2) anomaly at the LHC in final states with two muons and two taus

The longstanding muon (g−2) anomaly, as well as some hints of lepton flavor universality violation in B-meson decays, could be signaling new physics beyond the Standard Model (SM). A minimal R-parity-violating supersymmetric framework with light third-generation sfermions (dubbed as ‘RPV3’) provides a compelling solution to these flavor anomalies, while simultaneously addressing other pressing issues of the SM. We propose a new RPV3 scenario for the solution of the muon (g−2) anomaly, which leads to an interesting LHC signal of μ+μ−τ+τ− final state. We analyze the Run-2 LHC multilepton data to derive stringent constraints on the sneutrino mass and the relevant RPV coupling in this scenario. We then propose dedicated selection strategies to improve the bound even with the existing dataset. We also show that the high-luminosity LHC will completely cover the remaining muon (g−2)-preferred parameter space, thus providing a robust, independent test of the muon (g−2) anomaly.

Rare decay t→cγγ via scalar leptoquark doublets

A calculation of the one-loop contribution to the rare three-body flavor changing neutral current top quark decay $t\to c\gamma\gamma$ is presented in the framework of models with one or more scalar leptoquark $SU(2)$ doublets with hypercharge $7/6$. Analytical expressions for the invariant amplitude of the generic decay $f_i\to f_j\gamma\gamma$, with $f_{i,j}$ a lepton or quark, are presented in terms of Passarino-Veltman integral coefficients, from which the amplitudes for the processes $t\to c\gamma\gamma$ and $\ell_i\to \ell_j\gamma\gamma$ follow easily. An analysis of the current constraints on the parameter space is presented in the scenario with only one scalar LQ doublet and bounds on the LQ couplings are obtained from the muon $g-2$ anomaly, the lepton flavor violating (LFV) decay $\tau\to \mu\gamma$ and extra constraints meant to avoid tension between theory predictions and experimental data. For a LQ with a mass in the range of $1$--$1.5$ TeVs, the estimate ${\rm Br}(t\to c\gamma\gamma)\sim 10^{-11}$--$10^{-12}$ is obtained for the largest allowed values of the LQ coupling constants, which means that this decay would be below the reach of future experimental measurements. We also consider an scenario with three scalar doublets, which was recently proposed to explain the lepton flavor universality violation anomalies in $B$ decays as well as the muon $g-2$ anomaly. Although this scenario allows large LQ couplings to the tau lepton and the $c$ and $t$ quarks, the branching ratio of the $t\to c\gamma\gamma$ decay is also of the order of $10^{-11}$--$10^{-12}$ for LQ masses of 1.7 TeV.

The role of long distance contribution to the B → K⁎ℓ+ℓ− in the Standard Model

We investigate rare semileptonic B→K⁎ℓ+ℓ− by looking at a specific long distance contribution. Our analysis is limited to the very small values of physical accessible range of invariant mass of the leptonic couple q2. We show that the light quarks loop has to be accounted for, along with the charming penguin contribution, in order to accurately compute the q2-spectrum in the Standard Model. Such a long distance contribution may also play a role in the analysis of the lepton flavor universality violation in this process.

A Light Shed on Lepton Flavor Universality in B Decays

Behind succeeding measurements of anomalies in semileptonic decays at LHCb and several collider experiments hinting at the possible violation of lepton flavor universality, we undertake a concise review of theoretical foundations of the tree- and loop-level b-hadron decays, b→clνl and b→sl+l− along with experimental environments. We revisit the world averages for RD(D*), RK(K*), RJ/ψ, and Rηc, for the semileptonic transitions and provide results within the framework of the relativistic independent quark model in addition to the results from model-independent studies. If the ongoing evaluation of the data of LHC Run 2 confirms the measurements of Run 1, then the statistical significance of the effect in each decay channel is likely to reach 5 σ. A confirmation of these measurements would soon turn out to be the first remarkable observation of physics beyond the Standard Model, providing a wider outlook on the understanding of new physics.

Neutrino masses, flavor anomalies, and muon g−2 from dark loops

The lepton sector of the Standard Model is at present haunted by several intriguing anomalies, including an emerging pattern of deviations in $b \to s \ell \ell$ processes, with hints of lepton flavor universality violation, and a discrepancy in the muon anomalous magnetic moment. More importantly, it cannot explain neutrino oscillation data, which necessarily imply the existence of non-zero neutrino masses and lepton mixings. We propose a model that accommodates all the aforecited anomalies, induces neutrino masses and provides a testable dark matter candidate. This is achieved by introducing a dark sector contributing to the observables of interest at the 1-loop level. Our setup provides a very economical explanation to all these open questions in particle physics and is compatible with the current experimental constraints.

Singlet vector leptoquark model facing recent LHCb and BABAR measurements

Very recently the LHCb experiment released the first measurement of the ratio R(Λc)=BR(Λb→Λcτν¯τ)/BR(Λb→Λcμν¯μ). Moreover, the BABAR experiment reported a new result of the leptonic decay ratio of Upsilon meson ϒ(3S), namely, Rϒ(3S)=BR(ϒ(3S)→τ+τ−)/BR(ϒ(3S)→μ+μ−). Both measurements are below their corresponding Standard Model predictions (deficit), deviating by ∼1.1σ and ∼1.8σ, respectively. In addition, the LHCb recently presented the first search of the lepton flavor violating decay B0→K⁎0μ±τ∓. Motivated by these new data, in this work we study their impact on the phenomenology of the singlet vector leptoquark (U1) model addressing the hints of lepton flavor universality violation in the semileptonic decays of B mesons (B meson anomalies), by carrying out a global fit analysis. In general, we found that a minimal version of the U1 model with a mass of 2 TeV can successfully explain the B meson anomalies, while being compatible with all other flavor observables and LHC bounds. Interestingly, our study shows that the new observables R(Λc) and Rϒ(3S) generate strong tension, leading to non-trivial effects on the global fit. Future improvements at the LHCb and Belle II experiments would help to understand their complementary. Moreover, we also analyze the impact of the expected sensitivity on flavor observables at Belle II to provide a further test of the U1 model. Finally, we study the minimal assumptions under which the U1 model could, in addition, provide a combined explanation of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon.

NP effects in Λb → Λc(*) semileptonic decays

In the context of lepton flavor universality violation (LFUV) studies, we study different observables related to the b → cτν¯τ semileptonic decays. These observables are expected to help in distinguishing between different New Physics (NP) scenarios. Since the τ lepton is very short-lived, we consider three subsequent τ-decay modes, two hadronic πντ and ρντ and one leptonic µν¯µντ. This approach enables the differential decay width to be written in terms of visible (experimentally accessible) variables of the massive particle created in the τ decay. We present numerical results for the observables that can be accessed through the visible kinematics for the Λb → Λc and the Λb → Λ˚c p2595q transitions. This work is based on Refs.[1–3].

Preparations for a search of the muon EDM at PSI

Electric dipole moments (EDMs) of fundamental particles violate time invariance and the combined symmetry of charge and parity (CP). The existence of a large muon EDM (muEDM) is made plausible by tensions with Standard Model predictions for semileptonic decays of heavy meson measured at LHCb, BaBar, and Belle, as well as the muon’s anomalous magnetic moment (AMM). A discovery of the muEDM would manifest CP and lepton flavor universality (LFU) violation, revealing physics beyond the SM (BSM). The most sensitive muEDM search to date provides an upper limit of 1.8 × 10−19 e cm (CL 95%), extracted from high-precision data collected to measure the muon AMM. At the Paul Scherrer Institute, we are setting up a dedicated search for the muEDM using, for the first time, the frozen-spin technique to target an ultimate sensitivity better than 6 × 10−23 e cm. This novel technique increases the sensitivity to EDM-induced spin precession by cancelling the AMM-induced precession with the application of a precisely tuned electric field perpendicular to the muon momentum and the magnetic field. In this configuration, the dominant source of precession is the EDM coupling to the large relativistic electric field in the muon rest frame, generated by its motion in a strong 3 T uniform magnetic field. In a precursor experiment, we will apply the frozen-spin technique in a compact solenoid demonstrating a sensitivity of better than 3 × 10−21 e cm, probing uncharted and otherwise inaccessible territory in BSM theories.

We analyze the lepton flavor universality violation (LFV) in process b→sℓ+ℓ− in an R-parity violating supersymmetric (RPV-SUSY) scenario. The most recent update on RK from the LHCb collaboration suggests approximately 3.1σ deviation from the Standard Model predictions, strengthening the case of LFV New Physics. In this work, we show that RK(⁎) anomaly can be addressed via only sneutrinos within the framework of R-parity violating interactions assuming phenomenologically viable values of the couplings. While our proposed solution is by no means the only solution to these anomalies, it is a phenomenologically plausible one and, notably, quite a minimal one in the context of RPV-SUSY.

Probing Lepton Flavor Universality with Pion Decays

Searches for violation of lepton flavor universality are topical due to hints of discrepancies with Standard Model expectations in studies involving muons, B mesons, and beta decays which may be related by tests of the unitarity of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa quark mixing matrix. The status and prospects of pion decay experiments which offer the most precise tests of e − μ universality are discussed.

Impact of electroweak group representation in models for B and g−2 anomalies from dark loops

We discuss two models that are part of a class providing a common explanation for lepton flavor universality violation in $b\ensuremath{\rightarrow}s{l}^{+}{l}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ decays, the dark matter (DM) problem and the muon ($g\ensuremath{-}2$) anomaly. The $B$ meson decays and the muon ($g\ensuremath{-}2$) anomalies are explained by additional one-loop diagrams with DM candidates. The models have one extra fermion field and two extra scalar fields relative to the Standard Model. The $SU(3)$ quantum numbers are fixed by the interaction with the Standard Model fermions in a new Yukawa Lagrangian that connects the dark and the visible sectors. We compare two models, one where the fermion is a singlet and the scalars are doublets under $SU(2{)}_{L}$ and another one where the fermion is a doublet and the scalars are singlets under $SU(2{)}_{L}$. We conclude that both models can explain all of the previously mentioned issues simultaneously, while satisfying all other flavor and DM constraints. However, there are crucial differences between how the DM constraints affect the two models leading to a noticeable difference in the allowed DM mass range.
