Imperatives of Small-Scale Businesses and Employment Generation in Uyo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom state

The study investigated the relationship between small scale enterprises and employments generation in Uyo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. A cross-sectional survey research method was adopted for the study. A sample of 361 respondents was drawn from the population of 3725 using Taro Yamane’s scientific sampling formula. For the objectives of the study to be achieved, three hypotheses were formulated and tested. The study utilized structured questionnaire as a major instrument for data collection. 361 questionnaire were distributed and 334 were returned in useable form. Data collected were analyzed using simple percentage and regression. The results of the regression analysis indicated positive relationship between the variables of small scale enterprises and employment generation in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. It was recommended that; there should be simplified loan application processes and reduced collateral requirements for small scale enterprises to encourage access to funding, there should be government policies that promote and ensure regular maintenance of existing infrastructure to prevent deterioration and reduce disruptions to business operations, and there should be development of entrepreneurship and business management training programs tailored for small scale enterprise owners, covering essential skills like book-keeping, marketing and customer service.

ANALYSIS OF FACTORS INFLUENCING THE RETURNS ON BROILERS PRODUCTION IN UYO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF AKWA IBOM STATE, NIGERIA

The study analysed the factors influencing the returns on broilers production in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 100 poultry farmers practicing deep litter system for the study. The data were obtained from a cross-sectional survey of broiler farmers in the study area. The study revealed that male farmers (52%) dominated the broiler production in the study area. The total cost of broilers production was N786,303.60 while the total revenue was N1,430,329.8. The gross margin and net farm income were N 682,052.76 and N 644,026.20 respectively. The study also revealed that the high cost of feed accounted for 80.18% of the total cost of broilers production inversely affected the profitability of broilers production in the study area. The study also reaved that, despite the high cost of feeds deep litter system of broilers production is profitable as depicted by the net farm income of N 644,026.20. Besides, the return on a naira invested was N 0.819 implying that for every N1 invested 81.9k was return as profit. The study concluded that high cost of feeds and lack of funds are the major factors influencing the returns on broilers production in the study area. Based on the findings, it was therefore recommended; Subsidy on feed cost, simple procedures for credit facilities, increase in flock size to enhance profitability, Provision of adequate incentives and financial services to farmers for increase productivity, as well as stoppage of the arbitrary fees levied such as environmental fee, business premises fee and other levies that were introduced by the local government authorities to restore sanity and create a conducive environment for investment in poultry industry.

Principals’ adoption of budgetary control principles and their job performance in private secondary schools in Uyo Local Government Area

The study examined the extent to which principals’ adoption of budgetary control principles (P-ABCP) predict their job performance in public secondary schools in Uyo Local Government Area. The study adopted ex-post facto research design. The population of the study consisted of 41 principals in the 41 private secondary schools in Uyo LGA from which a sample of 21 principals were derived using census sampling approach. Data was collected with designed instruments tagged: “Principals Adoption of Budgetary Control Scale (PABCS)” and “Principals’ Job Performance Scale (PJPS)”. Data collected was analysed using mean while hypothesis was tested with linear regression. The results indicate that the extent of P-ABCP was low (1.88), implying that most of the principals did not utilize feasible budget in administering their schools. The results also showed that the extent to which P-ABCP predicts their job performance in secondary schools was very low. However, though to a very low extent, it was revealed that P-ABCP does significantly predict principals’ job performance. It is concluded the potentials of budgetary control in school administration has shown to be ineffective in enhancing sustainably, the principals’ job performance in public secondary schools. It is recommended that schools owners should mandate the principals to subject their budget and budgetary control plans for assessment before the commencement of an academic session and at the end of the session. This will spur the consciousness of the principals to the importance of having a clear-cut blueprint in the course of achieving effectiveness in school administration.

Maintenance Culture of Road Infrastructure and Socio Economic Development in Uyo Local Government Area Akwa Ibom State Nigeria

The focus of this study was on the maintenance culture of road infrastructure and the socioeconomic development in Uyo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The study was guided by the assumptions of Talcott Parsons' Structural Functionalism Theory. The study adopted a descriptive survey design. The population of this study consisted of critical stakeholders which included eleven (11) Councilors, Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and technocrats – Head of Local Government Service, Director of Finance, Director of Works, and Director of Environmental Health as key informants; and key workforce in AKROIMA and FERMA were part of the participants. The sample size for the study was 40 participants who were selected using purposive and snowballing non-probability sampling techniques. The study adopted observation, key informant interview (KII) and in-depth interview guide (IIG) as major instruments. The findings showed, among others, that maintenance culture is minimally felt in Uyo Local Government Area as a result of the slow response of the maintenance agencies to the deplorable roads in the area. Equally, prompt release of funds distorted by bureaucratic processes constituted a major hindrance to quick response which has affected the access to vital socio-economic institutions and marred the pace of socio-economic development in the study area. The study recommended stakeholders' concerted efforts through advocacy, support, and concern geared toward road maintenance for the development of social life and economic well-being.

WASTE DISPOSAL METHODS AND HEALTH STATUS OF HOUSEHOLDS IN UYO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA IN POST COVID-19 ERA

The study investigated Waste Disposal Methods and Health Status of Households in Uyo Local GovernmentArea in Post Covid-19 Era. Three research questions were raised to guide the study. Descriptive surveyresearch design was adopted in the study. The population comprised of 1,265,000 people made up of allresidents in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. A sample size of 400 respondents was drawnusing Taro Yamane sampling formula and used to collect data for the study. Stratified and simple randomsampling techniques were employed to select the respondents. A structured questionnaire titled: WasteDisposal Methods and Health Status of Households Questionnaire (WDMHSHQ) was used for datacollection. The content of the instrument was validated by three experts in cognate disciplines all inUniversity of Uyo. Cronbach Alpha statistical analysis was used to determine the internal consistency of theinstrument and the analysis yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.79. Data collected was analysed using Meanand Standard Deviation. Findings revealed that burning of wastes (cluster mean = 3. 49), dumping of wastes(cluster mean = 3.50) and compost wastes (cluster mean = 3.38) all had negative effect on the health statusof households in Uyo Local Government Area in the Post Covid-19 Era with varying cluster mean valuesand standard deviation. Based on the findings, the researchers conclude that waste disposal methods havenegative effect on health status of households in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State in the postcovid-19 Era and therefore recommend amongst others that households should engage more in the compostwastes disposal method as it has less negative effect on the health status of households in the study area

Intention to Smoke Tobacco Products among Senior Secondary School Students in Uyo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State

Introduction. Adolescence is a period in which many adolescents start exploring certain risky behaviours like tobacco use. Adolescent tobacco use is a significant global public health challenge. This study was conducted to determine the intention to smoke tobacco products among coeducational senior secondary school students in Uyo LGA, Akwa Ibom State. Materials and methods. A cross-­sectional study was conducted among 200 senior secondary school students aged 10–19 from January 2020 to December 2020. A multi-­stage sampling technique was used to select respondents from four senior secondary coeducational schools. Data were collected using a semi-structured interviewer-­assisted questionnaire. Results. Mean age of respondents was 15.3 ± 1.4 years, and 110 (55.0%) of them were males. The prevalence of intention to smoke tobacco products among the respondents was 75 (37.5%). 43 (21.5%) of them reported peer pressure as the reason for their intention to smoke. 190 (95.0%) of them knew that cigarette smoking is harmful to their health. There was a statistically significant association between respondents’ sex, ever smoked, currently smoking, age at first experience, last experience, having a sibling that smokes, having friends that smoke, and intention to smoke tobacco products (p < 0.05). Conclusion. Adolescents with these risk factors should be prioritized by smoking prevention efforts.

Morphological Characters and Soil Characteristics of Potential Horticultural Plants Growing in the Wild

This study investigated the variations observed in morphology of four (4) potential horticultural plants: Callichilia stenosepala Stapf, Clerodendrum splendens G. Don, Combretum bracteatum Herb. Madr. ex Wall and Combretum indicum (L.) Defillips and the soil characteristics of their habitats. Plants samples were obtained within University of Uyo Main Campus, Use Offot village in Uyo Local Government Area and Ifiayong Usuk Village in Uruan L.G.A. of Akwa Ibom State. Soil samples were obtained around the base of the studied plants before collection. Plants' morphological characters were extensively described and the soil samples analyzed using standard methods. The results revealed that these plants thrive on slightly acidic soils (6.31±0.07 to 6.75±0.05). Soils supporting Callichila stenosepala recorded the highest electrical conductivity (18.2±4.10), organic carbon (5.28±0.80), total nitrogen (4.86±0.52), calcium (164.00±10.20), magnesium (74.36±6.21) and exchange acidity (2.88±0.07) values, soils supporting Clerodendrum splendens recorded the highest pH (6.75±0.05), bulk density (1.88±0.004), phosphorus (2.08±0.003), sodium (18.40±4.09), potassium (32.18±7.02) and clay (34.00±6.10). Also, Combretum indicum was supported by soils having higher sand (62.00±7.10) and silt (23.00±4.30) contents while Combretum bracteatum occurred on soils with lower values of base cations, basic nutrient elements and soil physical properties. In conclusion, there are plants with potential horticultural values found within the study area and there are significant differences in the soil properties at the locations in which they are found. A better ecological investigation is needed in order to provide useful insights needed for the adoption, management, mass production, and better utilization of these potential horticultural plants within the study area.

Assessment of the causes of infant mortality in uyo local government area, akwa ibom state

This study assessed infant mortality in Uyo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State with the aim of investigating the causes of infant mortality and examining the contribution of the health professionals in curbing infant mortality in the study area. To achieve these objectives, structured questionnaires were employed. Through the use of the structured questionnaires, data were obtained through systematic random sampling of 399 households along three major zones selected for the study in Uyo Local Government. The hypothesis for the study was tested with regression model using the multiple factors Regression Analysis. The results indicated that non-parental factors such as hereditary neonatal disorders and premature birth are the driving causes of infant mortality in the study area. The study also indicated that the contributions of health professionals are positively felt in the study area. The study concludes that infant mortality is due to preventable non-parental factors. The study recommended that the action to ensure access to quality care and ensuring that no mother or new born dies from a preventable cause must be an urgent priority for every Government.

Teacher Self-regulatory Skills and Science Students’ Practical Achievement on Rate of Chemical Reaction in Senior Secondary School, Uyo, Nigeria

Effective engagement in practical work enables science students to acquire abilities, skills, competence and understanding of laboratory practical knowledge. The study investigates teacher self-regulatory skills in laboratory practice and students' academic achievement on the rate of chemical reaction in science. Eighty (80) science teachers and eighty (80) senior secondary science students were randomly selected from fourteen schools in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, using the technique of purposive sampling. Three research questions and three hypotheses tested at a 0.05 level of significance guided the study. The study utilized ex-post facto design as the independent variables of teacher self-regulatory skills, gender and experience are variables that have already occurred, and the researchers had no direct control over them. A 20-item multiple choice Achievement Test on Rate of Chemical Reaction and Questionnaire on Teacher Self-regulatory skills were instruments used for data collation. Mean, Standard Deviation, t-test and multivariate analysis of variance were used for analysis. Results show that teacher self-regulatory skills have a significant effect on practical achievement on rates of chemical reactions. There exists no significant difference in the achievement mean scores of science students based on gender with regards to teacher self-regulatory skills.; but the significant difference exists in the achievement mean scores of science students based on teachers' teaching experience given their self-regulatory skills. Recommendations amongst others were that science teachers should apply effective use of self-regulatory skills in teaching and understanding of the rate of chemical reactions.

Effectiveness of Paired Reading Strategy on Reading Ability of Struggling Readers in Primary Schools in Uyo L.G.A, Akwa Ibom State

The study examined the effectiveness of paired reading strategy on reading ability of struggling readers in Uyo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. A quasi-experimental study was adopted. The study population was all the 2,974 primary three pupils in all the 47 public primary schools. The purposive sampling technique was used to select a sample size of 73 primary three pupils from two intact classes. Reading Level Classificatory Test (RLCT) (Beginners), Reading Level Classificatory Test (RLCT) (Intermediate), Reading Level Classificatory Test (RLCT) (Proficient) and Struggling Readers Reading Ability Test (SRRAT) were used as the instruments for the study.. Kudar Richardson Formula 21 was used to determine the internal consistency of the instruments, which yielded coefficient indexes of 0.68 for Reading Level Classificatory Test (Beginners), 0.74 for intermediate, 0.69 for proficient and 0.90 for SRRAT. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used to test the hypothesis. The study revealed a significant difference in the mean reading ability scores of struggling readers exposed to paired reading strategy and those exposed to choral reading strategy. Based on the study's findings, the researchers recommended, among others, that all classroom teachers make efforts to integrate paired reading strategy into teaching reading.

The Constitution of Kenya specifically recognizes the freedom of association to form and belong to trade unions. However, despite the adoption of the Labour Relations Act, union practice is still hampered by excessive restrictions. The EPZ companies are labor intensive requiring a large amount of labor to produce its goods or service and thus, the welfare of the employees play a key role in their functions. This study sought to determine the effect of trade union practices on employees’ welfare at export processing zones industries in Athi River, Kenya. The specific objectives sought to determine the effect of collective bargaining agreements, industrial action, dispute resolution and trade union representation on employees’ welfare at export processing zones industries in Athi River, Kenya. The study employed a descriptive research design. Primary data was collected by means of a structured questionnaire. The target population of the study was employees in EPZ companies in Athi River, Kenya with large employees enrolled in active trade unions. The unit of observation was the employees in the trade unions. The findings indicated that collective bargaining agreements had a positive and significant coefficient with employees’ welfare at the EPZ industries. Industrial action had a positive but non-significant effect with employees’ welfare at Export Processing Zones industries. Dispute resolution had a positive and significant coefficient with employees’ welfare at the EPZ industries. Trade union representation had a positive and significant coefficient with employees’ welfare at the EPZ industries. The study recommended that trade union should avoid the path of confrontation but continue dialogue through the collective bargaining process and demands should be realistic in nature with what is obtainable in the related industry. An existence of a formal two way communication between management and trade unions will ensure that right message is properly understood and on time too. Social Activities and Academic Self-Concept of Secondary School Students in Uyo Local Education Committee

The study examined the difference in academic self-concept of secondary school students based on social activities in Uyo Local Education Committee. Two purposes of the study, three research questions and three hypotheses were formulated and tested at .05 level of significance and at 373 degree of freedom. Descriptive survey design was adopted, while the population of the study comprised 6,083 Senior Secondary Two (SS2) students in the fifteen (15) public secondary schools in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. A sample size of 375 Senior Secondary Two (SS2) students which represents 5 percent of the study population was selected for the study using Taro Yamane sampling formular. Systematic random sampling technique was used to select 7 public secondary schools for the study, while hat and draw method random sampling was used to select the sampled respondents from each of the sampled schools. A self-structured questionnaire titled “Social Activities and Students Academic Self-Concept Questionnaire (SASASQ)” was used for data collection. Mean and standard deviation was used to answer the research questions and independent t-test was used to test the research hypotheses. Findings of the study showed a significant difference in academic self-concept of secondary school students based on field trip activities and group study activities in Uyo Local Education Committee. Conclusion was drawn from the findings and the researchers recommended among other things, that teachers should always enlighten the students on the needfulness of forming study groups so that they can have a re-defined and purposeful academic self-concept for better achievement.

Personal Variables and Students' Academic Performance of Virtual Classroom Learners of Social Studies in Secondary Schools in Uyo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State

The study examines the factors of age, gender and location of social studies students and their performance on a virtual classroom platform. The study adopted the quasi-experimental design. A specific class arm of 50 Junior Secondary School (JSS) 3 students that were treated to a social studies lesson on family. The researcher developed a Social Studies Achievement Test (SSAT) with a reliability coefficient of .861; Cronbach Coefficient Alpha Statistics was administered to elicit student performance. The data collected were grouped based on age, gender and location. Mean (X ) score analysis indicated variance in performance based on personal factors, but, there was no significant correlation with academic performance of social studies students when taught using a virtual classroom platform, It was concluded that age and gender significantly influence students' academic performance in social studies using virtual classroom platform. The state government and education stakeholders adopted a virtual classroom strategy and teachers should be trained to use virtual classroom platforms for instruction for optimum educational effect in the study area.

Social Networking and Adolescents’ Behavioural Problems (Drug abuse, Bullying and Cultism) in Uyo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria

The study aimed at investigating the influence of social networking on adolescents’ behavioural problems (Drug abuse, bullying and cultism) in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The population for the study was 14,739 from 14 public secondary schools in the study area, and a sample size of 601 students was selected through a multi-stage sampling technique. The instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire developed by the researchers. Data obtained were analysed using Mean and simple regression analysis. Results showed that Facebook was the most frequently used social networking site. Findings also revealed that social networking had significant influence on drug abuse (P<.05) and cultism (P<.05), but the influence on bullying tendency was not significant (P>.05). On the basis of the findings, it was recommended among others, that individuals, groups, civil societies and the government should continue to sensitize the public on the dangers of all anti-social behaviours through social networking sites to help reduce their rate of involvement. Further studies was also recommended to explore the influence of social networking on a non-student adolescent population or out of school adolescents.

Emission from Uyo Main Refuse Dumpsite and Potential Impact on Health

This paper presents potential impact on health of emission from landfill site on Uyo village road, Uyo local government area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Three sampling points were assessed for particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulphur dioxide (SO2), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen sulphide H2S, ammonia (NH3), total volatile organic carbon (TVOC) and hydrogen cyanide (HCN) using highly sensitive digital portable meters. The data obtained were expressed in terms of an air quality index. Air quality index indicates that the ambient air can be described as unhealthy for sensitive groups for NO2, unhealthy for SO2 and PM2.5 and moderate for CO, respectively. H2S, NH3, TVOC, HCN, PM10 were not indicated in USEPA air quality standards. It recommended that stringent and proper landfill emissions management together with appropriate burning of wastes should be considered in the study area to ease the risks associated with these pollutants on public health.

Municipal Solid Waste Characterization and its Associated Vector-borne Diseases within the Vicinity of Dumpsite and Controlled Site

This paper presents the composition of municipal solid waste in Uyo and vector-borne diseases associated with municipal solid waste within the vicinity of the dumping site (less than 1 km) and controlled site (above 1 km). The compositions of municipal solid waste were determined using samples obtained from Uyo village road waste dumping site. The dumpsite receives solid waste from all the communities in Uyo local government area. In order to assess the public perception of vector-borne diseases associated with municipal solid waste, sample survey method was adopted, which involved the administration of 500 questionnaires of which 250 were administered to the residents who lived less than 1 km from the boundary of the waste dumpsite and 250 questionnaires were also administered to the communities living further away. The compositions and percentages constituent by mass revealed the following: Organic waste component constitute 53.86% and inorganic constituted a waste portion of 46.14%. For vector-borne diseases associated with municipal solid waste, the results indicated that 70.8% of the respondents attended tertiary education (OND/NCE and above), so the issues associated with municipal solid waste may not be strange to them. A significant number of respondents are aware that the origin of municipal solid waste is residential, commercial, industrial, market, street sweeping and industrial sectors. Respondents are more aware that rats, flies, mosquitoes, birds, pigs and cockroaches are vector-borne diseases associated with municipal solid waste. The findings in this study will be useful in a comprehensive solid waste management program which encompasses sweeping, storage, collection and disposal of solid waste. However, the waste can be best treated if any of these techniques are utilized composting, gasification and energy recovery in future for further reduction of waste.

Validation of Remote Sensing Data and Direct Field Observation in Mapping of Gully Erosion for Accuracy with Respect To Terrain Variation

Many Digital Elevation Model (DEM)-based methods have been proposed to enable automated gully mapping. However, the accuracy of a gully map derived from a DEM is inevitably affected by the DEM resolution. Related literature evaluated the accuracy of DEMs generated from stereo imagery of different satellite sensors; however, limited work has been done on quantitative analysis concerning the capability and accuracy of satellite DEMs in Gully erosion mapping. Therefore, this study was centered to map gully erosion and to investigate the accuracy of measured heights of gully erosion using field acquired data (RTK GNSS) and Global Satellite DEMs obtained from ALOS World 3D 30m and 30m ASTER GDEM. The Etim Umana Gully Erosion site in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria was used as the test site for this study. These datasets were referenced to orthometric height, therefore were converted to ellipsoidal height using the Earth Gravitational Model (EGM) 2008. Digital Elevation Model of the field data were generated using various kriging method (simple, ordinary, universal) of which the ordinary method assumed the best with the least Root-Mean-Square Error(RMSE) of 1.326199. Ground Control Points (GCP) (32) values were used to validate the accuracy of the field acquired data and obtained a RMSE of 1.125463 and a Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 0.8. The spot height values obtained from field were used to validate the satellite DEMs by calculating their RMSE from the difference between the measured values and the predicted values. The ALOS had a RMSE of 10.89154 when compared to the ASTER which had the least RMSE of 10.71999 which indicates the propagation of error. The Mean-Absolute-Error was calculated recoding MAE of 8.539147 for ALOS and ASTER 9.346781 and a Standard deviation of 9.176663 for the ALOS and ASTER 10.53712. ALOS had a mean error of -8.5174 and ASTER 7.706339. The result from this research indicates that they are similar levels of error propagation between the ALOS and ASTER and this can further be ascertained by carrying out validation on different terrain surfaces. These results indicate that it can be map to scale with contours based on the specifications of the National Mapping Accuracy Standards (NMAS)

School Farm Three-in-One Concrete Pond Construction Analysis: Implications for Integrating Theory and Practice for Students Acquisition of Sustainable Skill in Fish Farming

The study analysed the quantity and cost of materials of cements and chippings as well as site preparation, plumbing and labour required for the construction of a three-in-one concrete fish pond of12 x 2 x 1m3dimensionThe research was conducted at a homestead research site located at Ifa Atai, Etoi, Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. An experimental design was adopted for the study. Six research questions guided the study. Data were collected on; bill of quantities (BoQ), procurement of materials, execution and payment for labour. The result revealed that 53 bags of cements atN132,500.00. Three double trips of sharp sand and a single trip of soft sand atN57,000.00,7 tons of20mm aggregate of chipping at N39,669.00 was required. The study also revealed17nos lengths of purlins, 1kg of 2 inches nails, 2kg of 3inches nails and 1kg of 4inches nails at N6,300.00 was used for site preparation. Four lengths of 4inches pvc pipes, 4inches elbows, 1 tin 90ml of tangent, 4nos of 4 inches tees, 4nos of 4 inches plugs and 4nostaps atN16,000.00 was used for plumbing. The labour cost was N99,000.00. Hence, the total cost of materials and labour for the construction wasN391,015.90.It was recommended among others that Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Education to study and utilize the result as a guide to embarkon pond construction in school farms, to enhance the integration of theory and practical in the teaching and learning of fish farming for sustainable skill acquisition by students.

Effects of Environmental, Instructional and Behavioural Intervention Strategies on Academic Performance of Pupils with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in Akwa Ibom State Nigeria

At the international level, the majority of intervention strategies have concentrated on medical and behavioural approaches with very little attention being given to the impact of educational and/or academic interventions. Because children with ADHD are at two to three time’s greater risk of school failure than their peers without ADHD, it is essential that research focuses on educational approaches within school and classroom environments to address this problem. The purpose of the present research was to investigate the effects of educational intervention strategies which are environmental, instructional and behavioural modifications on the academic performance of pupils with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. The study was a quasi experimental design, the sample size of 44 ADHD pupils were purposively selected from three public primary schools. The instruments used for this study were adapted diagnostic checklist, pupils’ performance tests (pretest and posttest), environmental modification intervention strategies (EMIS), and Instructional modification intervention strategies (IMIS), Behvioural modification intervention strategies (BMIS). Descriptive statistics such as analysis of co-variance (ANCOVA) was used to test the hypotheses at .05 level of significance. The findings of this study, have indicated that environmental, instructional and behavioural modification intervention strategies significantly improved the Mathematics performance scores of pupils with ADHD than the conventional method of instruction (CMI) in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. It is therefore suggested that, teachers should be encouraged in developing more confidence in managing ADHD pupils’ challenging behaviours, implementing positive strategies in the classroom that lead to more time learning and less time managing behaviours, and improving their relationships with pupils in the classroom.
