Utilization of Educational Technology in Islamic education

ABSTRACT
 
 The integration of information and communication technology in education is driving the acceleration of computer literacy in Indonesian society. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive study method. The focus of this research relates to the application of technology in PAI learning at Alfa Centauri Elementary School, Bandung. To obtain the data used is by interview, observation, and documentation. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The validity of the data is obtained through data triangulation technical tests. The results of research on technological advances have led to many changes, including in the field of education which gave birth to the concept of e-learning. With e-learning, learning becomes more effective and efficient. The integration of information and communication technology in primary school education improves the quality of education in these institutions.

Pemanfaatan Canva For Education dalam Membangun Literasi Digital di Era Kurikulum Merdeka: Sebuah Analisis Studi Pustaka

This research focuses on the use of 'Canva for Education' in enhancing digital literacy in the era of the Kurikulum Merdeka (Independent Curriculum). Facing challenges in access and utilization of technology in education, this study aims to analyze the extent to which Canva can enhance the engagement and digital literacy of students and teachers. The method employed is qualitative analysis, through in-depth examination of academic literature and relevant case studies. This research emphasizes the secondary data analysis from academic and practical sources to evaluate the effectiveness of Canva. The research findings indicate that the use of 'Canva for Education' has a significant impact on improving digital literacy. Key findings show that Canva spurs active student participation in the learning process and trains essential digital skills for both students and teachers. Case studies at SMA Negeri 1 Bandung and literature analysis confirm that Canva, as an interactive digital tool, assists in enriching teaching methods, making them more engaging and effective. The conclusion of this research highlights the importance of integrating creative technology in education, which not only enhances engagement and digital literacy but also supports the development of innovative and adaptive pedagogical approaches. This research contributes to the development of educational theories that emphasize the importance of technology-based learning in modern education.

Personalized Design of Student Autonomy in STEM Curriculum

This paper explores the implementation of personalized design approaches to enhance student autonomy in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. The current state of STEM curriculum in China is examined, highlighting existing challenges in its implementation. The role of autonomy in learning is discussed, emphasizing its definition, importance, and its correlation with effective STEM learning. The paper then delves into personalized design approaches, including the customization of learning paths, integration of real-world applications, utilization of educational technology, and the adoption of project-based learning. Barriers to implementing personalized design are identified, encompassing teacher training, resource challenges, and cultural considerations. The advantages and implications of personalized design are discussed, focusing on improved student engagement, performance, and alignment with educational goals. The paper concludes by emphasizing the transformative potential of personalized design in STEM education.

The changing pattern of University Education in West Africa (A case study of the National Open University of Nigeria)

The utilization of technology in education has become a global trend, with West African countries actively exploring its integration into their educational systems. The internet is often perceived as a tool devoid of inherent values, offering the potential to democratize access to learning and overcome traditional barriers. It is widely acknowledged that online technologies hold the promise of addressing educational disparities and social exclusion while creating inclusive and accessible educational opportunities. The Nigerian government, recognizing the limitations of conventional educational methods, has advocated for the adoption of new technologies to reduce the cost of educating a large population of adults who have been excluded from traditional learning channels. This paper provides an overview of the advancements in open, distance, and technology-driven learning, with a focus on The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) as a case study. It employs the social cognitive theory to examine how universities in West Africa are embracing online learning practices, drawing insights from experiences in Western Countries.

Improving English Language Class Learning Outcomes in Reading through the Implementation of Quizizz Application

The utilization of technology in education involves the use of tools and technological applications to enhance the teaching and learning process. In this context, Quizizz serves as a relevant application that enables teachers to motivate students through various types of questions and good competitive elements. This includes measuring students’ comprehension, providing instant feedback, reinforcing material understanding, and monitoring students learning progress, resulting in improved learning outcomes. This research aims to determine the improvement of students learning outcomes in English language classes, especially in reading, by implementing the Quizizz application. The samples are used by students from the even semester of the academic year 2023/2024 in Muhammadiyah University of Parepare, focusing on second-semester students. The research uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method. Data was collected through tests and observations from June 2023 to July 2023. The results of this study indicate an improvement in learning outcomes, with an average learning outcome increase of 38% in cycle I and in cycle II by 78%.

The Influence of Collaboration, Participation, and Experience on Undergraduate Learner Engagement in the Online Teaching-Learning Environment

This study aimed to investigate the factors that influenced undergraduate learners’ engagement in the online environment in higher education institutions in the UAE. This quantitative study used an online survey that was distributed to undergraduate students at three universities in the UAE. Altogether, 126 responses were received, coded, and prepared for analysis. The findings indicated that the participants’ engagement levels in the online environment were influenced by their collaboration, learning opportunities, utilization of educational technology, and the learners’ relationships with their instructors and colleagues. The results also showed that there was no statistically significant relationship between the learners’ participation in online activities and their engagement levels. These findings have pedagogical implications in dealing with the complex and dynamic nature of the construct called learner engagement in the online environment and suggest providing undergraduate learners with real-life learning opportunities to enhance their collaboration, use of technology, and effective communication.

Analysis of Research Trends on General Mathematics at Universities : Focusing on Papers Published in Korean Journals Over the Past 10 Years

In this study, in order to provide a developmental discussion on general mathematics in universities and the direction for follow-up research, research trends were examined for papers published in Korean domestic academic journals over the past 10 years. The results of the research are as follows: First, among studies related to mathematics education and general education, research on general mathematics in universities is severely lacking. Considering that nearly all universities offer courses related to general mathematics, professors and researchers responsible for general mathematics should dedicate more attention to research on general college mathematics. Second, concerning the subjects and content areas of mathematics, research on general mathematics shows a bias towards basic general mathematics for science and engineering students. Therefore, there is a need for research on basic general mathematics for students in the humanities and social sciences, as well as research on pure general mathematics applicable to all students. Third, there is a lack of research on evaluation and educational technology in the field of general mathematics. Evaluation plays a crucial role in education, and it is important to conduct research on the evaluation of general mathematics and the utilization of educational technology, especially considering the increasing emphasis on the use of various technological tools in mathematics education. Fourth, in terms of research methods, the majority of studies focus on quantitative research. Therefore, it is necessary to employ diverse research methods that are suitable for the teaching and learning environment of general mathematics. Fifth, concerning the research topic on teaching and learning, while there have been numerous studies targeting science and engineering students, there is a need for a variety of studies on teaching and learning that encompass all students, including those in the humanities and social sciences, as well as the professors themselves.

The Challenges of Teaching Islamic Education In the Millennial Generation Era

This article discusses the issues of Islamic religious education learning in the millennial era, focusing on teachers, teaching methods, learning media, and students' interest in learning. The research was conducted in a high school in the Pasangkayu district. The research utilized a qualitative method with data collection techniques such as direct observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The research findings indicate that implementing Islamic religious education learning in the millennial generation begins with preparing teaching tools. However, the application of teaching methods and the utilization of educational technology still need more improvement. The issues of Islamic religious education learning in the millennial generation in high school include internal and external problems. Internal problems include the teachers' need for more ability to deliver the lessons and utilize educational technology. Islamic religious teachers must be role models for students regarding responsibility, low interest, and learning motivation. External problems include the influence of scientific and technological advancements in communication and the impact of social environments. The solutions to these learning problems involve Islamic religious teachers improving the learning process, providing learning aids, and mastering educational technology. Additionally, teachers engage in discussions with various stakeholders at the school to address the learning issues.

Understanding the Use of EduTech in Schools in the Philippines: Recommendations for Effectiveness

This article focuses on the utilization of educational technology in schools in the Philippines. The aim of the study is to provide recommendations for the effective use of EduTech in schools. The article takes a qualitative approach in presenting the author's perspective and opinion, supported by relevant literature. Educational technology is a phenomenon that is transforming the educational system of every school in the Philippines. However, there are several barriers to the effective implementation of EduTech, such as lack of infrastructure, teacher training, funding, digital divide, resistance to change, and technical difficulties. The article emphasizes the need for comprehensive and well-funded efforts to support the implementation and utilization of EduTech in schools in the Philippines. The study concludes that it is essential to educate teachers on the use of EduTech to ensure its effective implementation. Schools must also have adequate budgetary allocation to accommodate the use of technologies in instruction, and the digital divide between schools must be addressed to ensure that everyone has equal access to educational technology. Administrators should take the lead in promoting the use of EduTech in schools and creating an atmosphere that influences everyone to make use of these materials. By doing so, teachers and learners will be better equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the ever-evolving digital world.

Determining factors that can influence the understanding and acceptance of advanced technologies in universities' teaching and learning

As Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) have advanced, numerous new tools have been implemented to improve the effectiveness of instruction at the university level. It has had a ripple effect throughout Saudi Arabia's educational system. One of the results of this shift is the rise of e-learning, which requires technological means for delivery. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the elements that influence Saudi university students' acceptance of technology in teaching and learning. Data were obtained from 309 students. The data were analyzed using SPSS software. Surveys were used as the primary technique of data collection for this study. The results of the survey show that perceived ease of use, technical support, training, and content quality are expressively related to the acceptance of technology among university students. This study also provides evidence that there is a direct variation in people's acceptance of new technology, which helps explain 73.5 percent of people's acceptance of new technology. The results of the study will provide empirical data regarding the effective adoption of technology in Saudi universities, which will help in the growth of teaching and learning in the country. Similarly, the findings of the study may be of interest to researchers and policymakers in Saudi Arabia in providing the fundamentals for the acceptance and utilization of technology in education.

INFORMASI DAN TEKNOLOGI DALAM PERSPEKTIF PENDIDIKAN ISLAM

The presence of educational technology is a necessity to overcome the problems of education in remote-lagging regions. Although initially only expected to be able to "reach" those left and behind as a consequence of the strategy of expanding and equitable access to education, but did not rule out in its development able to be a supporter of quality improvement and competitiveness. Ideally, the use of educational technology should not only cease the ability to "reach" those who are marginalized and left behind, and support the improvement of quality and competitiveness; more useful if educational technology is also capable of giving birth to generations that have personal independence. In this case is needed quality control of content and learning process pursued through the utilization of educational technology. In this case, Islamic education with the foundation of the teachings of the Qur'an, in principle has provided a high enough motivation for the people to come forward and able to become khalifah on earth, in order to achieve real prosperity. Thus, education should be truly responsive to the changes and demands of the times, especially related to the development of information-communication technology, as well as to be a strengthening of technology-based Islamic education, especially information-communication technology in order to really have great benefits for the masak world.

Barriers to Implement ICT By Primary School Teachers in Private Schools Based in Muscat (Oman)

The development of technology in recent years has changed the ways humans used to live. Technology is undoubtedly contributing to enhancing the quality of lives of individuals, whereas Education is no exemption from it, as technology is also contributing to enhancing the quality of Education. The utilization of technology in Education increased during COVID-19, when pupils were taking their education through different electronic mediums. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the barriers to implementing ICT by primary school teachers in private schools in Muscat, Oman. Methods: The five-scale Likert scale questionnaire was used as a data collection tool to collect the data from 200 recruited participants, and the collected data was analyzed using SPSS, and descriptive statistics were used for interpretation of the data. Results: The findings underline different factors like the absence of assets, lack of preparation, and protection from change that obstruct the viable execution of ICT. The meaning of this review lies in giving bits of knowledge about the difficulties faced by primary teachers in private schools in Muscat, consequently adding to the current writing on ICT reception in the training area. Conclusion: To increase ICT adoption, the study's conclusions emphasize the need for enhanced training programs. This study’s future repercussions include influencing policy decisions and directing the creation of specific interventions to encourage successful ICT implementation in private schools.

Availability and Utilization of Educational Technology in Primary Schools of Ethiopia

The purpose of this study is to look into the availability and utilization of instructional technology in Ethiopian primary education, using some urban and regional schools as case representatives. 165 in-service teachers were recruited using available sampling method from Addis Ababa and Amhara regional state primary schools. A questionnaire and semi-structured interview items were created and administered to collect data. The study used a descriptive survey design with a mixed methods research approach. Major findings revealed that teachers in the case primary schools do not have accesses to properly utilize educational technologies in the teaching-learning processes. Multiple regression analysis results showed that there is no significant difference in the use of educational technology between regional and urban school teachers.

Utilization of Educational Technology in The Learning Process in The Sub-District of Tebas, Sambas Regency

This study aims to determine the use of educational technology in the learning process for educators in Tebas District, Sambas Regency, the theoretical use of research to contribute to the development and use of educational technology and practically to be able to apply the development of educational technology today. The variables in this study are Utilization of educational technology in the learning process" with indicators of learning models, learning strategies, learning methods, learning media and learning outcomes. The research method uses descriptive verification method in the form of case study research. The results of the study showed that the models, strategies, methods and learning media as well as learning resources most of the educators had mastered and could be applied, and it should be noted that the facilities and infrastructure that can support the use of educational technology such as internet facilities, wifi and equipment to support the implementation of learning when they want to implementing educational technology in delivering lesson messages and the lack of availability of learning resources in supporting the smooth process of using technology other than the teacher concerned.

Problems in the Utilization of Educational Technology in Remote Schools

Background: Education has always been a common conversation that we hear almost every day. The whole world considers education to be a problem that never ends. Because education feels less satisfactory, both in terms of learning and from the way of teaching. Even in developed countries, the problem of disding becomes a very complicated problem.Aim: The purpose of our research is to be able to find out the Problems of Using Educational Technology in Remote Schools, we want to provide an overview of how this educational technology can be used in every circle and during a pandemic that some schools implement online schools using digital media.Method: In this study, we used qualitative methods and library research from several journals and articles.Findings: The results of this study that the Problems of Using Educational Technology in Remote Schools, are still very less than optimal with various obstacles and current conditions. There are still many parents and even teachers complain about the lack of internet network, internet quotas that do not match their needs, and also the parents' lack of understanding with technology

The views of shareholders on utilization of educational technologies in adult learning

The purpose of this study was to reveal the views of shareholders on utilization of educational technologies in informal education institutions. A total of 10 people including 5 officers and 5 course attendees who were selected via convenience sampling which is one of purposeful sampling methods, participated in this study using qualitative research method. The study was conducted in phenomenological design, which is among qualitative research designs. Thus, a semi-structured interview form was prepared and interview technique was used to collect data in the study. The data were analyzed via content analysis technique. All the data acquired in the study were coded, various dimensions and appropriate themes for these dimensions were determined in accordance with the study purpose. Percentages and frequencies related to the themes were calculated. As a result of the study, the views of shareholders on utilization of educational technologies in informal education institutions were revealed.

Student perspective of classroom and distance learning during COVID-19 pandemic in the undergraduate dental study program Universitas Indonesia

BackgroundThe COVID-19 pandemic has become a global health issue and has had a major impact on education. Consequently, half way through the second semester of the academic year 2019/2020, learning methods were delivered through distance learning (DL). We aimed to evaluate the student perspective of DL compared to classroom learning (CL) in the undergraduate dentistry study program at the Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Indonesia.MethodsAn online questionnaire was sent at the end of the semester. A total of 301 students participated in the study.ResultsDuration of study influenced student preference. Higher number of first-year students preferred DL compared to their seniors (p < 0.001). Students preferred CL for group discussion, as DL resulted in more difficult communication and gave less learning satisfaction. Only 44.2% students preferred DL over CL, although they agreed that DL gave a more efficient learning method (52.6%), it provided more time to study (87.9%) and to review study materials (87.3%). Challenges during DL included external factors such as unstable internet connection, extra financial burden for the internet quota and internal factors such as time management and difficulty to focus while learning online for a longer period of time.ConclusionDespite some challenges, dental students could adapt to the new learning methods of full DL and the majorities agreed blended learning that combined classroom and distance learning can be implemented henceforth. This current COVID-19 pandemic, changes not only the utilization of technology in education but the pedagogy strategies in the future.

DEVELOPMENT OF LEARNING MEDIA BASED ON ARTICULATE STORYLINE

Utilization of technology in education will produce good quality learning, up to date, make critical thinking, have conceptual thinking and easy to access various learning resources. Together with technology, the teacher must realize a learning assisted learning media, so that students’ interest in learning increases. Articulate storyline application is an interactive multimedia application that can be used by teachers or students. Based on observations found that teachers use media objects for learning in class, especially in force material, then based on the results of interviews with teachers, teachers more often use learning media types of objects, visuals and silently projected. The purpose of this study is to validate the articulate storyline as a learning medium on force material. The steps of this research development include initial research and information gathering, planning, developing initial product formats, initial trials and product revisions. Data collected through observation, interviews and questionnaires. The results of the validation of the material experts stated that media is valid with an average value of 79.65%. Furthermore, the results of the validation of the media experts stated that media is valid with an average value of 86.16%. In tested valid media products with an average of 81.93%. From the results of these data the researchers concluded that the articulate storyline-based media are valid, and suitable for use as learning media.

The utilization of educational technologies: huge gap between the real and the ideal training processes in nursing education

Objetivo: analisar os entraves durante o percurso acadêmico no curso de Enfermagem acerca da utilização das tecnologias educativas. Métodos: pesquisa descritiva com abordagem qualitativa. Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas com discentes de enfermagem no período de novembro de 2016 a janeiro de 2017, sendo os depoimentos analisados através da análise de discurso. Resultados: os discentes discursaram como entraves o fato dos docentes permanecerem fincados no método tradicional de ensino; a falta de interesse em levar essas tecnologias para o ambiente de ensino, além da formação dos próprios educadores serem focadas em um ensino com metodologias tradicionais. Conclusão: surge a necessidade de discutir sobre o papel da gestão e a formação pedagógica necessária para a efetividade da docência em saúde, que, mesmo com todas as diretrizes norteadoras e reestruturadoras desse ensino, não garantem a formação do profissional com o perfil pretendido.
