A Longitudinal Analysis of the Impact of Digital Technologies on Sustainable Food Production and Consumption in the European Union.

In today's landscape, digital technologies hold immense potential in tackling challenges associated with food sustainability. This study aims to contextualize a broader investigation of food sustainability and digitalization within the agricultural sector. Its objective is to explore the influence of digital technologies on sustainable food production and consumption, particularly examining relationships among digital technologies, municipal waste, agricultural output, nitrogen emissions, methane emissions from agriculture, and Goal 12 Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG12). Through the use of Structural Equation Modeling, the empirical investigation scrutinizes the relationships between digital technology use and critical variables linked to food sustainability in a longitudinal analysis. The results highlight the significant impact of extensive digital technology use on municipal waste, sustainable production, and consumption, indirectly influencing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Empirical research findings reveal a negative influence of digital technologies on responsible consumption and production (path coefficient -0.349, p values < 0.001), suggesting an impact of digital technologies on diminishing sustainability in consumption and production. The relationship between digital technologies and municipal solid waste is also negative (path coefficient -0.360, p values < 0.001), suggesting that the use of digital technologies can contribute to reducing the amount of municipal solid waste. Digitalization has the potential to improve the sustainability of supply chains by reducing resource consumption and greenhouse gas emissions associated with production and distribution operations.

Does the transition to a circular economy contribute to business resilience and transformation? Evidence from SMEs

The implementation of the circular economy in companies undoubtedly requires a transition of their business systems towards more environmentally oriented ones. However, there is a lack of empirical research on the topic in the micro-level. Based on a sample of 404 managers with positions of responsibility in SMEs that are in transition towards a circular economy, this paper analyses at the micro level, through the use of structural equation modelling, how internal and external drivers contribute to this transition process and, at the same time, how the process itself impacts the resilience of the company and, consequently, its transformation process. The obtained results contribute to the literature by observing that internal factors carry more weight than external factors when implementing the CE transition. They illustrate how resilience derived from the CE transition can foster transformative change and demonstrate the CE's impact beyond environmental sustainability, extending its influence into strategic management and organizational fields.

The authentic leader in times of crises: a portrait of the effects of authentic leadership on the well-being of its employees during the COVID-19 pandemic

Purpose: The pandemic caused by the new new-sars-cov-2 variant significantly modified working conditions. In this context of crisis, leaders have come to occupy an even more sensitive and strategic place for companies. In this way, this article intended to study how an authentic leadership style could influence employees during the pandemic caused by COVID-19. Methodology: We used a quantitative approach. More specifically, through Structural Equation Modeling, by the SmartPLS 3.0 software, we analyzed data from a survey conducted with 1142 participants. Findings: The results show that organizations led by leaders who are considered authentic by their employees are more likely to take particular actions during the COVID-19 pandemic, which contributed to reducing work stress. Additionally, the presence of an authentic leader presents a direct influence on the professional stress levels decreasing of the respondents. Originality: Several studies have analyzed professional contexts during the COVID-19 pandemic, but they have made little correlation with the adopted leadership style, as in this study. In addition, the scope of the sample and the use of Structural Equation Modeling make the article unique.

Determining Factors Influencing Collegiate Players' Intention to Pursue a Professional Career.

The rise of professional careers in playing sports has been seen in the recent generation. Ranging from traditional sports to recent e-games, it can be seen that student athletes are not only considering these as motivational factors for education, but also as future career paths. This study aims to fill the knowledge gap about the factors influencing college athletes' aspirations to play professionally. The study examines the complex web of athlete decision-making by utilizing the extended Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and analyzing the roles of motivational factors, self-efficacy, affective behavior, and behavioral domains. With the use of structural equation modeling, the study deciphers the intricate links, emphasizing the critical role that attitude plays in affective behavior. It emphasizes how much optimism and self-efficacy shape an athlete's behavior and subsequent pursuit of professional careers. The current research provides a benchmark for future studies exploring student athletes' career goals. This research adds understanding to the knowledge gap regarding the complex decision-making procedures of aspiring professional athletes. Both theoretical and practical implications are provided based on the results of the study, which stakeholders and institutions may consider for student athletes wanting to pursue a professional sports career.

The Impact of Entrepreneurial Bricolage on Sustainable Entrepreneurship: Exploring the Role of Frugal Innovation

This study aims to investigate the determinants that impact sustainable entrepreneurship within the entrepreneurial community in Pakistan. The convergence of globalization and increased consciousness regarding sustainable development has generated tremendous ambition, zeal, and curiosity regarding the course of sustainable entrepreneurship. With these conditions, the study's goal is to investigate potential predictive factors that promote sustainable entrepreneurship among Pakistani entrepreneurs. This research investigated the relationship between entrepreneurial bricolage and sustainable entrepreneurship by employing a frugal innovation as mediators. Through the use of structural equation modelling with partial least squares, 392 responses to a Pakistani survey instrument were analyzed. The findings of this study suggest that there is a relationship between entrepreneurial bricolage and the level of sustainable entrepreneurship. This relationship is mediated by the function of frugal innovation. This research emphasizes the significance of sustainable entrepreneurship in light of the increased environmental and societal consciousness among consumers, as well as global regulations pertaining to environmental safeguarding.

Exploring the roles of academic expectation stress, adaptive coping, and academic resilience on perceived English proficiency

This study aims to examine and analyze a research model comprising three latent variables (academic expectation stress, adaptive coping, and academic resilience) to gain insights into the perceived English proficiency of EFL (English as a foreign language) learners. These variables have been overlooked in previous literature despite their importance in understanding learning outcomes. A total of 395 undergraduate students from a Taiwanese university participated in this study. Through the use of structural equation modeling, the hypotheses in the research model were tested. The findings of this research are as follows: (1) Academic expectation stress has a significant and negative impact on EFL learners’ perceived English proficiency; (2) Academic resilience positively predicts EFL learners’ perceived English proficiency; (3) Academic resilience mediates the relationship between academic expectation stress and perceived English proficiency; (4) Adaptive coping mediates the relationship between academic expectation stress and academic resilience. These results add valuable insights to the existing literature in EFL teaching and learning, shedding light on the dynamics of these variables.

Causal Effects of Time-Varying Exposures: A Comparison of Structural Equation Modeling and Marginal Structural Models in Cross-Lagged Panel Research

The use of structural equation models for causal inference from panel data is critiqued in the causal inference literature for unnecessarily relying on a large number of parametric assumptions, and alternative methods originating from the potential outcomes framework have been recommended, such as inverse probability weighting (IPW) estimation of marginal structural models (MSMs). To better understand this criticism, we describe three phases of causal research. We explain (differences in) the assumptions that are made throughout these phases for structural equation modeling (SEM) and IPW-MSM approaches using an empirical example. Second, using simulations we compare the finite sample performance of SEM and IPW-MSM for the estimation of time-varying exposure effects on an end-of-study outcome under violations of parametric assumptions. Although increased reliance on parametric assumptions does not always translate to increased bias (even under model misspecification), researchers are still well-advised to acquaint themselves with causal methods from the potential outcomes framework.

Objective: This research aims to investigate the impact of tax services and tax incentive policies on the level of tax compliance, by considering the tax knowledge factor as a moderating variable.&#x0D; Time and Place of Research: Participants involved in this research are MSMEs who specialize in selling used cars in the Tangerang area and its surroundings. This research uses a quantitative approach by distributing surveys to 250 used car entrepreneurs in the Tangerang area and surrounding areas 2024.&#x0D; Methods: The data collection procedure using non-probability sampling involves the use of convenience sampling to distribute it. The analytical method used in this research involves the use of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) techniques utilizing smart PLS 3 software.&#x0D; Conclusion: The findings from this research indicate that tax services do not make a positive contribution to tax compliance. However, tax incentives have a significant impact on the willingness to comply with tax obligations. Understanding taxes cannot influence the relationship between tax services and tax compliance, or between tax incentives and tax compliance. In addition, knowledge about taxes cannot influence the relationship between tax services and tax compliance, nor between tax incentives and tax compliance.

Entrepreneurial leadership style towards sustainability through agile and lean base strategy in private universities

The problem and the aim of the study. Even though previous literature in academia has focused on sustainable business practices and the impact of entrepreneurial leadership style on the sustainability of organizations, there is still a gap in the literature regarding the effects of entrepreneurship leadership on the sustainability of employees and companies. This study sought to identify the degree of the impact of entrepreneurial leadership style towards sustainability through agilebased Strategy compared to lean Strategy in private universities. Research methods. The study’s research methodology employs structural equation modeling (SEM) combined with confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to assess and validate the measurement model and to estimate indirect effects. This methodological approach aimed at achieving a high degree of confidence by focusing on academic and administrative staff across five private institutions in Jordan. The initial collection involved 400 cases, of which 385 passed data screening and were considered valid for the analysis. Data were gathered using online questionnaires in this descriptive correlational study. Results. Findings from this study on the impact of demographic factors on sustainability and leadership styles in a sample of 400 people (later reduced to 385 after outliers and missing data were removed) shed light on the significance of gender, education level, experience, and management level. A bachelor's degree was possessed by 90.4% of respondents, and the majority of those respondents were male 55.8%. There was also a considerable representation throughout different lengths of work. By examining comments on many characteristics, including Entrepreneurship Leadership Style, Lean and Agile Strategies, and sustainability factors, the Agile Strategy stood up as the top model, achieving an average score of 3.8104. The sustainability component with the highest mean score was Economic Sustainability, which also happened to be the highest rated. Through the use of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), the study was able to hone down on its findings and ultimately eliminate five items based on item loadings. This resulted in a marked improvement in the new model's fit indices. This improved model outperformed the original one in terms of goodness of fit, as evidenced by a Chi-square of 584.663, RMSEA of 0.048, and CFI of 0.933. Analyzing the relationships between the Entrepreneurial Leadership Style and the sustainability outcomes via the lens of the Agile Strategy was a key finding. The importance of the Agile Strategy in improving sustainability at private institutions in Jordan was further supported by the considerable total impact of the Entrepreneurship Leadership Style on sustainability, as measured by p &lt; 0.05, which was mediated by the Agile Strategy. With important ramifications for educational organization methods, this thorough investigation highlights the usefulness of the Agile Strategy in moderating the leadership influence on sustainability. Conclusion. Research shows that private universities in Jordan are more likely to be sustainable when entrepreneurial leadership is in place, and that agile strategy has a stronger impact on this than lean strategy. This highlights the significance of adaptive leadership strategies for promoting long-term viability in higher education. Based on the results, it would be wise to investigate how various leadership approaches affect sustainability in different types of educational settings. This study paves the way for future research in the field of higher education and beyond to investigate the wider effects of entrepreneurial leadership and strategy on the long-term viability of organizations.

Measuring the teachers’ talent management

PurposeA crucial issue in educational management refers to helping teachers reach their full potential and manage their talents. Although managing talent is advised as an essential resource for organizational transformation to maximize performance and to promote a school’s knowledge capital increase, Teachers’ talent management (TTM) is not an agreed-upon concept in the literature. The aim of this study is threefold: (1) to propose a theoretical and operational TTM definition, (2) to develop a test to measure TTM and (3) to discuss the value of TTM implementation in educational settings.Design/methodology/approachA psychometric validation design according to international standards for test development is implemented. A cross-sectional intentional sampling with 200 schools is used for obtaining reliability and validity evidence. We operationalized TTM using 9 factors (10 items per factor, 6-point Likert scale): attraction, selection, development, retention, succession, climate, culture, evaluation and knowledge management.FindingsResults show adequate evidence of reliability and validity, focusing on items' content and latent structure. The combined use of structural equation models (SEM) and psychometric networks (PN) detects a six-factor model with a test reduced version including 61 items, getting 64.28% of the total explained variance and adequate reliability indices and factor loadings.Originality/valueThe Teachers' Talent Management Assessment Test (TTMAT) can contribute educational institutions to create a culture of excellence and deliver the best possible education to their students. Educational transformation will only happen if teachers are professionalized, trained, motivated and supported to inspire and to guide their learners to reach their objectives and well-being.

IMPLICATIONS OF FUNCTIONAL POSITIONS IN THE CAREER DEVELOPMENT OF APPARATUS IN INDONESIA

Organizational commitment to apparatus career development is an interesting issue in the current literature in Indonesia. This study investigates how government organizational commitment and apparatus career development are influenced by the implementation of functional positions, administrative positions, and staffing regulations. Furthermore, it is an effort to strengthen understanding of the pathways and conditions to fulfil apparatus career development by assessing the role of the job of moderating the improvement of apparatus competency and organizational commitment. This study encourages the use of structural equation modelling using a cross-sectional approach to evaluate hypotheses using information gathered from 350 local government employees in the Indonesian city of Lubuklinggau, South Sumatra. The results show that organizational commitment is a mediator in career growth between apparatus functional jobs and administration ones. Additionally, the relationship between personnel policies and the advancement of the apparatus is moderated by the effect of improving apparatus competence. This research contributes significantly to helping determine how the functional positions of apparatus, organizational commitment, and career development of apparatus are intertwined by highlighting the important role of implementing functional positions, with staffing regulations and supported by increased competence of apparatus

The Influence of College Employment Guidance on the Employment Ability of College Students in Conghua District, Guangzhou

The main purpose of this study is to understand the current situation and problems of college students' employability, analyze their influencing factors, and propose corresponding strategies to enhance their employability from the perspective of college students, in order to achieve the ultimate goal of helping college students improve their employability. This study adopts quantitative research methods such as literature review, questionnaire survey, and statistical analysis to study the content of the article. The research subjects are students and graduates from nine major universities in Conghua District, Guangzhou. This article mainly collects data through SoJump's online distribution of survey questionnaires. Through statistical analysis of the survey data, we understand the current situation of college students' employability, compare it with their training goals, and identify gaps and problems. Based on the research results of the employment ability model in the industry, combined with the training goals of professional talents, and referring to the employment standards and competency model of a large group enterprise for fresh graduates, a college student employment ability evaluation scale was constructed. The sample data was analyzed and processed using SPSS and structural equation modeling. As a supplementary study, this study has made significant contributions to the study of the impact of college students' employability, and has pioneered the use of structural equation models to verify the above hypotheses, filling the gap in many such studies that have not been validated using structural equation models.

Using theory of planned behavior (TPB) examining consumer intention and behavior towards organic food consumption in Uttarakhand, India

This article use the TPM model to examine consumer intentions and behaviors related to the consumption of organic food in Uttarakhand, India. The study aimed to ascertain the primary determinants that is influencing consumer inclinations to purchase and consume organic food items and examine how these determinants may be leveraged to encourage consumption in the area. The study employed a questionnaire in a Likert Scale to gather quantitative data from 212 genuine respondents in the Gharwal district of Uttarakhand. The data underwent analysis using the use of Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) and AMOS-22. This analysis aimed to evaluate the influence of consumer attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and intention on organic food intake. The study revealed that customers’ attitude, social norms, and perceived behavioral control had a statistically significant positive influence on purchase intention (β=0.57, P=0.000), (β=0.47, P=0.000), (β=0.36, P=0.000), hence confirming hypotheses H1, H2, and H3. In addition, the study revealed that purchasing intention positively influences actual purchase behavior. The findings offer useful information for marketers to formulate policies and strategies to encourage the adoption of organic food in Uttarakhand.

Novel use of structural equation modeling to examine the development of a framework of patient-centered two-way referral systems for building digital subjective well-being healthcare: A cross-sectional survey in Central China.

Digital health technologies are progressively assuming significant roles in aspects encompassing in-hospital management, patient-centered design, and tiered referral systems. Nevertheless, current studies do not involve exploration into the potential value and mechanisms of digital health in a patient-centered context. This study aimed to explore the development of a framework of comprehensive, evidence-based digital health technologies for the construction of welfare-oriented healthcare. From March to June 2023, a cross-sectional online study was performed, involving 335 respondents with prior referral experiences hailing from the Central China region. Data on welfare-oriented healthcare factors (clinical pathway management, medical structure configuration, healthcare service accessibility, two-way referrals) underwent factor analysis in advance, and correlation between these factors and their association with two-way referrals was evaluated by testing for direct and indirect (mediating) effects. Firstly, there existed a significant positive correlation between integrative medical indicators and welfare-centered healthcare (β = 0.02-0.16, p < 0.05). Furthermore, two-way referral had an direct association with integrative medical parameters and the welfare healthcare service system (β = 0.15-0.31, p < 0.05), but exerted a partial mediatory function in the welfare healthcare service system (β = 0.005-0.021, α < 0.05). Two-way referrals partially mediate the integrated medical indicators, mainly through direct effects, while also providing complementary support. Clinical pathways, medical structure, and accessibility are closely linked to welfare healthcare and significantly influence healthcare quality. Thus, improving these factors should be prioritized. This study proposes a method combining integrated evaluation indicators with pathway mechanism design. This pathway mechanism design includes key steps such as patient registration, information extraction, hospital allocation or referral, diagnosis and treatment, rehabilitation plan monitoring, service feedback, and demand resolution. This design aims to change patients' intentions in seeking healthcare, thereby increasing their acceptance of bidirectional referrals, and ultimately enhancing the effectiveness and realization of welfare healthcare.

Technology-Driven Economic Behaviours: The Role of Willingness to Disclose Personal Data in Online Buying and Webrooming

Digitalization predetermines variety of economic behaviours that either happen online or integrate online and offline options. For instance, omni-channelling in retail gives buyers options of e-buying and webrooming (searching online, but purchasing offline). This paper highlights the role of willingness of buyers to disclose their personal data in regard to the two behaviours. The willingness is impacted by perceived benefits, privacy risks and trust in a store; relationships between all factors are grounded on social exchange theory. Empirical data from 964 respondents were analysed with the use of structural equation modelling. The findings showed indirect effect of willingness to disclose personal data on webrooming, clarified the way how privacy risks impact the willingness in regard to the two behaviours and confirmed the impact of online buying on webrooming. This way they helped to reduce addressed research gaps and present a substantial novelty.

What Influences People’s Adoption of Cognitive Cybersecurity?

Artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, among other new technologies, have attracted the attention and interest of practitioners and researchers in cognitive cybersecurity regarding the use of AI technologies to protect digital as well as analogue systems. This mixed-method study explores the main determinants of cognitive cybersecurity adoption at the individual level. We propose an integrated model with unified theory of acceptance and use of technology model in combination with trust, word-of-mouth, information security awareness, and habit. We empirically examine the hypotheses using a survey of 267 people from southern Europe. The results obtained from the use of structural equation modelling show that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and word-of-mouth affect behavioural intention. The behavioural intention and word-of-mouth influences use behaviour. The results were triangulated with field interviews, which supported the findings. This study offers a valuable contribution to software-selling companies that are at the moment, or will in the future be, interested and/or involved in developing cognitive cybersecurity software to be used at an individual level.

Investigating the moderating effects of social good and confidence on teachers' intention to prepare school students for artificial intelligence education

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has triggered profound reforms across industries, including education. These developments necessitate the inclusion of AI as a subject in K-12 classrooms. However, the need for students to learn AI demands that educators pay increasing attention, believe in its relevance and intend to promote it among their students and colleagues. This paper aimed to explore teachers' perceptions of and behavioral intention to teach AI. We specifically considered the association of AI anxiety, perceived usefulness, attitude towards AI, AI relevance, AI readiness, and behavioral intention factors. This research further aims to examine the moderator effect of AI for social good and confidence on the relationship in our hypothesized research model. To address this purpose, a quantitative methodology with the use of structural equation modeling was utilized. Data were retrieved through an online questionnaire from 320 lower and upper secondary school in-service teachers, mostly in STEM-related fields. Our findings reveal that teacher perceptions of AI for social good and confidence will affect most relationships in the model. Teacher professional programs should include the benefits and risks of AI and good practice sharing.

Counteracting noncommunicable diseases with front-of-pack nutritional labels' informativeness: an inquiry into the effects on food acceptance and portions selection

PurposeFront-of-pack nutritional labels have been extensively studied to support consumers in making healthier and more informed food choices. However, existing research has gathered conflicting evidence about which category of label, nutrient-specific or summary labels, is more effective. As a result, the European Union has postponed its decision on selecting a unified label to collect additional information. This study specifically focusses on individuals with noncommunicable diseases, an overlooked yet relevant segment of consumers who can significantly benefit from the proper use of nutritional labels in their self-care.Design/methodology/approachIn a sequence of three studies grounded in the front-of-pack acceptance model and focussing on customers with specific noncommunicable diseases, the authors examined the different effects of the NutrInform Battery and Nutri-Score on food acceptance and portion selection. This research involved the use of structural equation modelling and ANOVA and was conducted with a cumulative sample of 2,942 EU adults, residing in countries with or without previous exposure to nutritional labels.FindingsThe results suggest that among individuals with noncommunicable diseases, nutrient-specific labels are perceived as more useful and easier to use. They also generate a better attitude towards the usage of nutritional labels and are more effective in nudging those consumers towards a proper selection of portions.Social implicationsThe results provide valuable insights into how front-of-pack nutritional labels can impact the food choices of individuals with noncommunicable diseases and have implications for public health policies.Originality/valueInvestigation of the effects of NutrInform Battery and Nutri-Score on consumers with noncommunicable diseases, an area currently under-researched.

Use of Structural Equation Modelling and Neural Network to Analyse Shared Parking Choice Behaviour

The shared parking mode represents a feasible solution to the persistent problem of parking scarcity in urban areas. This paper aims to examine the shared parking choice behaviours using a combination of structural equation modelling (SEM) and neural network, taking into account both the parking location characteristics and the travellers’ characteristics. Data were collected from a commercial district in Nanjing, China, through an online questionnaire survey covering 11 factors affecting shared parking choice. The method involved two steps: firstly, SEM was applied to examine the influence of these factors on shared parking choice. Following this, the seven factors with the strongest correlation to shared parking choice were used to train a neural network model for shared parking prediction. This SEM-informed model was found to outperform a neural network model trained on all eleven factors across precision, recall, accuracy, F1 and AUC metrics. The research concluded that the selected factors significantly influence shared parking choice, reinforcing the hypothesis regarding the importance of parking location and traveller characteristics. These findings provide valuable insights to support the effective implementation and promotion of shared parking.
