A revolutionarily, nationalistic movement is a conspicuous instrument of change. One of the great modern masters in this arena is Mohandas K. Gandhi. In this paper, the author examines his use of strategic techniques, especially those associated with the Great Salt March of 1930, and his cultivation of unity and self-sacrifice through doctrine, symbolism, ritual, and metaphor.
