Purpose: This tutorial provides multiple examples of how to incorporate the use of spectrograms in an undergraduate speech science course in an exciting, functional way. Incorporating spectrograms into foundational coursework provides an opportunity to create engagement within the classroom, fosters deductive reasoning skills within students, and encourages the synthetization of multiple concepts typically taught within the speech-language pathology curricula. Examples are presented in order of increasing difficulty and can easily be adapted to meet students' needs and interests. Conclusion: The following activities involving spectrograms are intended to assist anyone who is new to teaching speech science concepts or looking to update their current courses in ways that inspire critical thinking and excitement within their students.
