Evaluation of the Use of Cloud Computing Technology in Managing Organizational Information Systems

Cloud Computing technology has become a major focus in the development of organizational information systems, providing flexible and efficient solutions for data and application management. The aim of this research is to evaluate the use of Cloud Computing technology in managing organizational information systems with a focus on effectiveness, efficiency and security. The research method used involves literature analysis and case studies from several organizations that have adopted Cloud Computing technology. The research results show that the use of Cloud Computing significantly increases data accessibility, system scalability, and application performance. However, challenges related to data security and privacy remain a major concern, requiring the implementation of appropriate strategies for risk mitigation. In conclusion, the integration of Cloud Computing in the management of an organization's information systems can provide significant benefits, but it needs to be balanced with careful attention to security and privacy issues.

A Correlate of Acceptance and Actual Use of Cloud Computing Technology for Teaching among University Lecturers in Southwestern Nigeria

Cloud computing technology had been found effective and efficient in providing online learning at all levels of education. This study investigated the relationship between the lecturers’ acceptance of the technology and its’ actual use for teaching. It also determined the influence of sex, academic qualifications and university ownership on the acceptance and actual use of the technology for teaching. The study is a survey. The population consisted all the lecturers in all the universities in southwestern Nigeria. Three hundred lecturers selected from one Federal, one State and one Private university using multistage sampling technique were the sample. AUCT an adapted questionnaire was used for data gathering. Analysis of data showed a significant relationship between acceptance and actual use of cloud computing technology for teaching among the lecturers (R2 = 0.37; p = 0.00). Also neither sex (F(1,274) = 1.83; p > 0.05), academic qualifications (F(3,274) = 0.30; p > 0.05) nor ownership of university (F(3,274) = 2.57; p > 0.05) significantly influenced lecturers’ acceptance of cloud computing technology for teaching. Sex, academic qualifications and ownership of university combined also had no significant influence on the lecturers’ acceptance of cloud computing technology for teaching (F(3,274) = 0.12; p > 0.05). Sex, academic qualifications and ownership of university combined also had no significant influence on the lecturers’ actual use of cloud computing technology for teaching (F(3,274) = 0.23; p > 0.05). Acceptance of cloud computing technology for teaching has positive correlation with actual use among university lecturers in southwestern Nigeria.

The use of electronic discovery and cloudcomputing technology by lawyers in practice: Lessons from abroad

In the present electronically driven world, it is vitally important for lawyers to understand advancing or new technology and to have adequate computer literacy in order to best represent their clients. The so-called “e-information explosion” requires lawyers to request, produce and manage electronic documents in order to protect their clients’ interests and to obtain a strategic advantage over their opponents. Lawyers or legal practitioners should adapt to technological changes, develop an awareness of the unique challenges posed by the advances in technology, and embrace technology’s role in both their practices and the legal system. This article examines issues pertaining to electronic discovery and cloud-computing technology in civil practice in South Africa, the United States of America and the United Kingdom. The article also examines current electronic discovery (e-discovery) practices and the use of cloud-computing technology in the United States of America and the United Kingdom to ascertain whether useful lessons can be gleaned from these jurisdictions for possible incorporation into South African law. The study notes that, while South African law has taken great strides to address advancing technology, useful lessons from abroad can be adopted such as, inter alia, the need for greater preservation of electronic evidence; the use of a wider definition of the term ‘document’ to include all types of electronic information and future technological developments; the amendment of the rules to include the discovery of electronically stored information; the use of the proportionality principle in trials, and the incorporation of the cost-shifting regime. The article concludes that lawyers need to learn more about relevant law such as the ECT Act and POPI, and embrace advancing technology more enthusiastically, yet responsibly, in order to succeed in their new competitive and changing legal environments and to provide the best service for their clients.

Towards data analysis for weather cloud computing

This paper demonstrates an innovative data analysis for weather using Cloud Computing, integrating both system and application Data Science services to investigate extreme weather events. Identifying five existing projects with ongoing challenges, our aim is to process, analyze and visualize collected data, study implications and report meaningful findings. We demonstrate the use of Cloud Computing technologies, MapReduce and optimization techniques to simulate temperature distributions and analyze weather data. Two major cases are presented. The first case is focused on forecasting temperatures based on studying trends from the historical data of Sydney, Singapore and London to compare the historical and forecasted temperatures. The second case is to use five-step MapReduce for numerical data analysis and eight-step process for visualization, which is used to analyze and visualize temperature distributions in the United States, before, during and after the time of experiencing polar vortex, as well as in the United Kingdom during and after the flood. Optimization was used in experiments involved up to 100 nodes between Cloud and non-Cloud and compared performance with and without optimization. There was an improvement in performance between 20% and 30% under 60 nodes in Cloud. Results, discussion and comparison were presented. We justify our research contributions and explain thoroughly in the paper how the three goals can be met: (1) forecasting temperatures of three cities based on evaluating the trends from the historical data; (2) using five-step MapReduce to achieve shorter execution time on Cloud and (3) using eight-step MapReduce with optimization to achieve data visualization for temperature distributions on US and UK maps.

The use of creative techniques in the engineering human resources development

Starting from the role of new technologies in the development of engineering innovation, this paperwork has two main research directions with respect to creativity and innovation in engineering education. These are based on a combination of creative techniques with traditional engineering education methods. The first component of our research presented herein aims the use of creative methods such as Creative Training and Image Streaming, and the second component of the research statistically analyses the Social Media posts regarding the use of Cloud Computing technology as a support for innovation. The aim of combining such lines of research will lead to the emergence of specific knowledge needed to identify and implement new creative techniques in engineering human resources. Applying such creativity techniques within groups of students can result in innovative ideas usable in ongoing research projects, in certain deadlock situations on finding critical solutions to overcome blockages.

Design Virtual Learning Labs for Courses in Computational Science with Use of Cloud Computing Technologies

This paper describes the approach to the design and imp le mentation of a virtual learning laboratory (VLL) with the use of cloud computing technologies within the mode l of AaaS (Application as a Service). The formal model of composite application and a set of learning models using cloud-based VLL are proposed. The relation to learning objectives in accordance with the revised Bloom's taxonomy was identified for each model. The software tool to auto mate the creation and configuration VLL, based on the cloud computing platform CLA VIRE are presented. The paper ends with the description of case study implementation with the use of the offered approach.
