Connecting individual-level creativity to strategic management processes

PurposeThis study examines how structured procedures and psychological safety can enhance six sigma processes’ effectiveness and foster individual creativity within an organization.Design/methodology/approachThis study employs a novel methodological approach, combining structural equation modeling (SEM) and multi-value qualitative comparative analysis (mvQCA).This combination gave us a unique lens through which to view the complex connections between the constructs that were the subject of the investigation.FindingsThe results substantiate that a well-structured six sigma approach, paired with a psychologically safe environment, fosters knowledge exploration and exploitation as well as triggering conducive learning behaviors. These elements, in turn, augment individual creativity, which is found to be instrumental in boosting six sigma performance.Originality/valueThis study is one of the first to combine mvQCA and SEM to investigate the complex interplay between structured methods, psychological safety and individual creativity in enhancing six sigma performance. This research highlights the importance of fostering creativity in strategic management processes and the unrealized potential of combining these methods.

Joseph Joachim's Cadenzas as a Site of Performative and Compositional Virtuosity

A recurrent trope in the reception of Joseph Joachim's performances is the notion that that he magically transformed himself into the composer of the work. In particular, his performances of violin concertos frequently evoked this perception, as documented by Andreas Moser, Otto Gumbrecht, Hans von Bülow, and Johannes Brahms. Building on work by Katharina Uhde and Karen Leistra-Jones, this article will propose that Joachim's cadenzas played a central role in fostering the perceived slippage between the composer and performer. Joachim composed – and performed – cadenzas for many of the concertos in his core repertoire, including works by Giuseppe Tartini, W. A. Mozart, Giovanni Battista Viotti, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Brahms. I will argue that Joachim's cadenzas enact a compositional approach to the thematic material. The depth of this engagement is profound, encompassing not only the soloistic passages but also the ritornello sections as material for developmental reworking and modulatory processes. In fact, he often explores harmonic avenues that are only hinted at in the ‘parent’ concerto, highlighting and fulfilling moments of unrealized potential. Joachim's cadenzas thus create the impression that the composer of the concerto is revising and expanding his own work. I propose that he inhabits the genre of the cadenza as a site of compositional and performative virtuosity, fusing the two personas at a time when they were becoming increasingly polarized in European musical culture.

Enhancing last mile connectivity using shared mobility: A stated preference survey of business park commuters

An important step towards more sustainable transport is to reduce the use of private cars. There is a significant unrealized potential of replacing car-based commute with public transportation, especially to and from business parks where many people are co-located, and where the use of private cars are quite common. This study examines the potential of shared mobility solutions to enhance the appeal of public transportation by addressing the last mile challenge. Various types of shared mobility are evaluated and compared in a stated preference survey conducted at the Sluppen business park in Trondheim. Results show that more people may choose the bus if there is a shared mobility solution available to complete the last mile of the commute. The respondents prefer e-scooters if there is no extra cost, but to a lesser degree if they must pay 20NOK. Car commuters who are willing to shift to from car to public transport and shared mobility, are also more willing to both wait and pay extra for a shuttle.

Agricultural Policies and Strategies in Ethiopia: A Review on Transformation Towards an Improved Agricultural Extension

In Ethiopia, economic development policy has historically been dominated by subsistence agriculture, leading to unrealized agricultural potential characterized by low productivity and a focus on subsistence farming practices. This would necessitate giving agricultural policies top priority and launching an improved initiative to speed up the transition from traditional farming. To this end, this review was to summarize the strengths and drawbacks of Ethiopia's agricultural policies and strategies, as well as make recommendations for improved interventions and the potential for scaling them up. This may be very helpful in directing policymakers to introduce the valuable interventions and handle related issues. Since 1991, the government of Ethiopia has implemented various agricultural policies in order to boost agricultural productivity and production, which in turn reduces poverty and food insecurity. However, the results have been found to be unsatisfactory. This is mainly due to the poor performance of the agricultural extension system in terms of its coverage and quality of implementation. Thus, the review argues, addressing such challenges and commercializing the sector could lead Ethiopia to further exploit its agricultural potential. In this regard, the recently implemented cluster farming is the right way to overcome these problems and support subsistence farming by increasing smallholder farmers bargaining power, increasing the faster diffusion of research recommendations and extension packages, knowledge transfer, and market linkage. Therefore, the review recommends that policymakers and development organizations should consider cluster farming as a main farming strategy to increase smallholder farmer’s productivity and support initiatives to attain the intended goals.

Jono Village Synergy in Improving Creative Tourism-Based on the Salt Industry

Grobogan Regency's tourist sector is still quite small and hasn't been able to significantly impact the growth of the travel and tourism sector in Indonesia. Even though Grobogan Regency has a lot of possibilities for overseeing local resources related to tourism. The Jono Tourism Village is one of the potentials in the Grobogan area that could be developed. The distinctive feature of Jono Village is its ability to generate salt products despite being distant from the ocean. At the end of 2016, the Ministry of Tourism designated Jono Village as a Tourism Village. Not much has changed in this community since it was recognized as a tourist village. This is due to the unrealized potential of other locations as tourist destinations, the dear th of facilities in this community, and the village's poor accessibility. As a result, the author wants to transform this vacation hamlet into a community-based destination with a hub for the salt industry serving as a major draw. A qualitative descriptive technique will be used in the design concept that will be put into practice. Reducing the unemployment rate, enhancing the local economy, protecting the area's cultural environment, and building the infrastructure necessary to support the tourist village's growth are just a few of the issues that need to be resolved to develop this village. Data collecting techniques employed in the construction of this creative tourism town include reading, interviews, and observation. Next, interactive analysis techniques and flow model analysis approaches are employed for data analysis. The study's findings enable Jono hamlet to develop into a creative tourism hamlet with attractions that match the community's capabilities, particularly the Jono Village Salt Industry.

Linking forest carbon opportunity costs and greenhouse gas emission substitution effects of wooden buildings: The climate optimum concept

Forests play a crucial role in achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emission targets in the coming decades, as they can act as natural carbon sinks by removing carbon dioxide from the Earth's atmosphere. The use of wood as a building material leads to lower GHG emissions throughout its life cycle compared to other building materials and is therefore considered a valid climate change mitigation strategy. However, the impact of wood harvesting on the potential carbon storage in forests has largely been ignored. In this study, we investigated whether the use of wood as a building material is beneficial for climate change mitigation when considering carbon opportunity costs, which represent the amount of carbon prevented from accumulating in forests due to wood extraction. We introduce the climate optimum concept, which links both GHG emission substitution and associated carbon opportunity cost of wooden buildings. Application of the concept to a case study building shows that the GHG substitution benefits of wooden buildings for climate change mitigation are overshadowed by carbon opportunity costs in forests. In our analysis, no wooden scenario achieves sufficient life cycle embodied GHG emission substitution in order to compensate for the unrealized carbon storage potential in the forest system due to harvest. Wood-based GHG mitigation strategies in the building sector and beyond need to consider this unrealized carbon storage potential of forests expressed via carbon opportunity costs, in order to obtain a more comprehensive picture of the climate impact of forests and wood-based products.

Characteristics of the structure and hydrocarbon prospectivity of the deeply buried strata in the eastern Precaspian basin

The article examines the geological structure and oil and gas prospects of the pre-salt complex in the eastern Precaspian Basin (PB). Based on the synthesis and comprehensive analysis of geological exploration (GE) results and the analysis of geological-geochemical criteria for hydrocarbon potential, the oil and gas geological zoning has been updated, and effective directions for GE have been identified. The justification of a new hydrocarbon resources base within the eastern PB margin can be ensured by further investigating of the deeply buried Devonian-Middle Carboniferous horizons in the known petroleum plays, as well as within the less explored Sakmar-Kokpektinsky segment of the Ural fold-and-thrust belt. Within the productive KT-I and KT-II formations, there is an unrealized hydrocarbon potential at depths of 5-6 km. Using the example of the Bozoba West area, the oil and gas prospects of the Visean-Bashkirian and Lower Permian strata are examined, highlighting the significance of faults as elements of the hydrocarbon system. The applied set of 3D seismic survey data and deep drilling allowed for the interpretation of deep seismic sections, up to depths of 7.0-7.5 km. The Middle-Upper Devonian strata are considered prospective but have not been extensively explored by deep drilling. To establish a new hydrocarbon resource base within the eastern Precaspian Basin margin, it is recommended to conduct advanced regional seismic surveys and parametric exploration drilling.

We have explored the expansive possibilities of kinnow peel, a frequently ignored by-product of the fruit processing industry, in this thorough analysis. The production of kinnow generates a significant amount of waste, including peel, seeds, and pulp. The disposal of this waste is a major environmental issue, as it can lead to pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Due to the presence of bioactive substances that may be used in a variety of sectors, kinnow processing waste has the potential to provide a number of advantages. In the culinary, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries, the peel, seeds, and pulp from kinnow can be used as natural sources of antioxidants, aromatics, pectin, and dietary fibre. Utilizing kinnow waste promotes eco-innovation, increases sustainability, and aids in waste reduction. The development of a circular economy can be sped up with more study and commercialization of kinnow waste products. This analysis emphasises how important it is to understand and utilise the unrealized potential of agricultural byproducts, like kinnow peel.

A scoping review of sport organisations’ accountability

ABSTRACT Purpose/Rationale Stakeholders of sporting organisations have expressed a myriad of concerns regarding sport organisations’ accountability. Despite growth in the literature, a review and examination of this scholarship remains missing. This paper provides a scoping review on the accountability of sport organisations, and in doing so, map the research field and determine future research opportunities. Design/Methodology/Approach Based on the scoping review guidelines of Arksey and O'Malley (2005), four databases were comprehensively searched. Following a thorough search process, 44 articles relating to sporting organisation accountability were reviewed. Findings Our analysis reveals a dominance of conceptual and theoretical-based studies with a varied approach to accountability, and evidently a pre-eminence of case study methodologies and lack of explicit theoretical perspectives. International sport organisations, national sport organisations, and government agencies were among the most studied. Practical implications Future studies should pursue an integration of discourses, and greater generalisability among organisations. This has the potential to strengthen the theoretical perspectives and guide research that improves accountability practices of sport organisations. Research contribution We have mapped the sport organisation accountability literature, as well as identifying research gaps to direct future research. Overall, the results reveal sport organisations’ accountability is a nascent topic with unrealised interdisciplinary potential.

Towards autistic flow theory: A non‐pathologising conceptual approach

AbstractFlow states are heightened moments of concentration, motivation and enjoyment, leading to total absorption in the present moment. A striking parallel exists between flow states and phenomenological accounts of autistic daily life. We analyse the components of flow theory alongside autistic autobiographical accounts to explore similarities and differences, in doing so moving toward an understanding of autistic flow theory. We highlight the considerations and opportunities this may hold for future autism research, in particular the advantage that this offers a non‐pathologising approach to researching autism, one which helps to explain contextualised behaviour (i.e., alignment between the situation and what is happening in one's mind). Drawing on autistic autobiographical accounts, we outline four principles: (1) autistic people are uniquely placed to discover and manage flow; (2) autistic flow may qualitatively diverge from traditional models of flow; (3) difficulties maintaining and exiting flow for autistic people highlight a need to examine transitions into and out of flow; and, (4) internal and external constraints to flow highlight there is unrealised autistic potential yet to be discovered. The implications of an autistic flow theory are discussed in terms of how it can impact (a) our conceptual understanding of autism providing alternative explanations to previously researched phenomena, and (b) how we build enabling environments for autistic people that allow flow to flourish across educational practice, wellbeing and research contexts.

Envisioning U.S. Climate Predictions and Projections to Meet New Challenges

AbstractIn the face of a changing climate, the understanding, predictions, and projections of natural and human systems are increasingly crucial to prepare and cope with extremes and cascading hazards, determine unexpected feedbacks and potential tipping points, inform long‐term adaptation strategies, and guide mitigation approaches. Increasingly complex socio‐economic systems require enhanced predictive information to support advanced practices. Such new predictive challenges drive the need to fully capitalize on ambitious scientific and technological opportunities. These include the unrealized potential for very high‐resolution modeling of global‐to‐local Earth system processes across timescales, reduction of model biases, enhanced integration of human systems and the Earth Systems, better quantification of predictability and uncertainties; expedited science‐to‐service pathways, and co‐production of actionable information with stakeholders. Enabling technological opportunities include exascale computing, advanced data storage, novel observations and powerful data analytics, including artificial intelligence and machine learning. Looking to generate community discussions on how to accelerate progress on U.S. climate predictions and projections, representatives of Federally‐funded U.S. modeling groups outline here perspectives on a six‐pillar national approach grounded in climate science that builds on the strengths of the U.S. modeling community and agency goals. This calls for an unprecedented level of coordination to capitalize on transformative opportunities, augmenting and complementing current modeling center capabilities and plans to support agency missions. Tangible outcomes include projections with horizontal spatial resolutions finer than 10 km, representing extremes and associated risks in greater detail, reduced model errors, better predictability estimates, and more customized projections to support next generation climate services.

Simulation design of 542kWp DC/480kWp AC Solar Photovoltaic System at Institute of Southern Punjab

Conventional methods of producing electricity are expensive, pollute the environment, need a lot of maintenance, and eventually run out of power. Because of this, it is imperative to take use of the unrealized potential of renewable energy sources that are also ecologically beneficial. At the Institute of Southern Punjab (ISP), Multan, Pakistan geographical location coordinates latitude 30° 17′ 20′′ N and longitude 71° 30′ 1′′ E. Current study developed an effective, long-lasting, and environmentally friendly Grid Tie PV System (GTPVS) to address this issue. One location where solar energy has enormous promise is Multan. At this location, the average yearly horizontal solar irradiance is 1861.8 kWh/m2/year and average diffuse horizontal solar irradiance 898.9 kWh/m2/year. In this study, PVSyst is used to calculate the performance ratio and various power losses, such as inverter, temperature-related losses, and losses from PV modules. Every day, 3026.26 kg of coal are saved, which is the same as growing 29062.87 Teak trees for life time. According to National Electric Power Regulation Authority (NEPRA) rule Tarif A3(66) is applied on universities and schools, where 60 Rs/kWh is unit cost in year 2024. The generated energy costs for Longi solar cell for proposed location in ISP Multan is 0.07 US dollars per kWh, while the standard energy pricing in Pakistan in 2024 is 0.21 US dollars per kWh. The simulation results show that, proposed RTSPVS design energy production is 966.4 MWh/year. Annual performance ratio (PR) for the proposed system is 85.8%.

Financial Stability and Innovation: Interconnection and Development Prospects

The development of the modern sphere of technologies ensures active implementation of various types of innovations in the activities of modern companies. If innovations are rationally planned, they can have a positive impact on the financial stability of business and the economy as a whole. At the same time, Ukrainian innovation activity has a huge unrealised potential, which can be realised under more favourable external conditions and high-quality planning of the specifics of innovation implementation. The purpose of the study is to summarise approaches to determining the relationship between innovation and financial stability of modern business. In order to achieve this goal, it is necessary to solve a number of urgent tasks, in particular: to determine the scale of innovation activity of modern business in the world and in Ukraine; to outline the key tasks that can be solved by innovative tools if they are implemented in business activities; to specify the directions of ensuring financial stability through the introduction of innovations. The research was based on an in-depth review of more than 50 scientific sources, including articles indexed in leading scientometric databases. The study found that the global innovation market is at the stage of active development, while Ukrainian enterprises are not currently realising their full innovation potential due to unfavourable environmental conditions. The study also identifies the tasks that can be solved by innovative tools, provided they are implemented in business activities. It is determined that the application of digital marketing tools and the use of social networks to promote products allow expanding the audience, which can have a positive impact on the development of the financial stability system. Working with data, planning, and processing data using the latest technologies can also have a positive impact on financial stability. A separate link is the optimisation of business processes (financial, production, procurement, etc.) using the latest information management tools (artificial intelligence, big data, cloud technologies), which can improve the information component of financial stability.

Handwritten Based Alzheimer Disease Prediction from One Dimensional Datasets Using Deep Learning

Because to their high cost, sensitivity, and difficulty in completing surgeries, brain-related disorders are among the most challenging conditions. On the other hand, since the procedure's outcomes could be negative, the operation itself does not have to succeed. Alzheimer's disease, which affects adults and causes varied degrees of memory loss and knowledge forgetfulness, is one of the most prevalent brain diseases. based on the state of each patient. For these reasons, using user-handwritten datasets to categorise memory loss and determine the patient's evaluation of Alzheimer's disease at every given level is crucial. This work offers a novel method for predicting Alzheimer's disease by using advanced deep learning techniques on handwritten data. Alzheimer's is a degenerative. Alzheimer's disease, a neurological condition that progresses and necessitates prompt diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Traditional diagnostic techniques are mostly based on clinical evaluations and imaging, which are frequently inaccessible and expensive. This study investigates the unrealized potential of handwritten data as a special kind of Alzheimer's disease prediction. The dataset provides a broad picture of cognitive impairments by containing handwritten samples collected from individuals in varying states of cognition. Using deep learning architectures, such as the multi-layer perceptron method, the suggested model takes use of the temporal dependencies found in sequential handwritten patterns. These designs show promise for ensuring the temporal characteristics of handwritten data are captured with subtle features. The handwritten input is converted into a format suitable for deep learning using feature extraction techniques, which helps with efficient model training. A thorough assessment of the model's performance is conducted using common metrics including specificity, sensitivity, and accuracy. The goal is to determine whether the model can correctly forecast Alzheimer's disease based just on the unique features present in handwritten samples.

The global relevance of locally grounded ethnobiology.

While ethnobiology is a discipline that focuses on the local, it has an outstanding, but not yet fully realized potential to address global issues. Part of this unrealized potential is that universalistic approaches often do not fully recognize culturally grounded perspectives and there are multiple challenges with scaling up place-based research. However, scalability is paramount to ensure that the intimate and context-specific diversity of human-environmental relationships and understandings are recognized in global-scale planning and policy development. Here, we identify four pathways to enable the scalability of place-based ethnobiological research from the ground up: local-to-global dialogues, aggregation of published data, multi-sited studies, and geospatial analyses. We also discuss some major challenges and consideration to encourage continuous reflexivity in these endeavours and to ensure that scalability does not contribute to unnecessarily decontextualizing, co-opting, or overwriting the epistemologies of Indigenous Peoples and local communities. As ethnobiology navigates multiple scales of time and space and seeks to increase its breadth, this study shows that the use of deliberately global approaches, when carefully nested within rich field-based and ecological and ethnographically grounded data, can contribute to: (1) upscaling case-specific insights to unveil global patterns and dynamics in the biocultural contexts of Indigenous Peoples and local communities; (2) bringing ethnobiological knowledge into resolutions that can influence global environmental research and policy agendas; and (3) enriching ethnobiology's field-based ethos with a deliberate global analytical focus.

Analysis of Consumer Buying Behavior for Beauty Brands in Amravati City

This research report sought to understand the process by which consumers select cosmetic products. In order to gather information for this study, which was carried out in Amravati City, 100 respondents were surveyed. The personal care industry has enormous unrealized potential and is vital to the country's economy. One of the biggest consumer industries in the nation is the personal care industry. Large companies have established themselves in this market over the past few years as a result of the Indian consumer's rising purchasing power and disposable income, which has driven the industry's phenomenal growth. During the data analysis phase, it was discovered that the majority of respondents were female and that the majority of them had purchased beauty items to apply on their faces. It was discovered that the majority of respondents had chosen different brands of cosmetics and it was discovered that the price aspect was what drove consumers to purchase their cosmetic items. It was observed that the Permanent Store was where the responders were buying their cosmetics. To increase sales, the business should concentrate on serving housewives and professionals and draw in more customers, the company should expand its line of male beauty products, boost the amount of herbal ingredients, and run aggressive advertisements including celebrity endorsements. A corporation should evaluate its historical financial performance and develop marketing and business plans to strengthen its brand and expand its market segments in accordance with consumer demands. Thus, this study contributes to our understanding of the constantly shifting preferences and buying habits of the female market for beauty products. We can therefore conclude that in order to encourage female clients to purchase beauty products, retailers need specifically target them.
