AI Chatbots in Chinese higher education: adoption, perception, and influence among graduate students-an integrated analysis utilizing UTAUT and ECM models.

This study is centered on investigating the acceptance and utilization of AI Chatbot technology among graduate students in China and its implications for higher education. Employing a fusion of the UTAUT (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology) model and the ECM (Expectation-Confirmation Model), the research seeks to pinpoint the pivotal factors influencing students' attitudes, satisfaction, and behavioral intentions regarding AI Chatbots. The study constructs a model comprising seven substantial predictors aimed at precisely foreseeing users' intentions and behavior with AI Chatbots. Collected from 373 students enrolled in various universities across China, the self-reported data is subject to analysis using the partial-least squares method of structural equation modeling to confirm the model's reliability and validity. The findings validate seven out of the eleven proposed hypotheses, underscoring the influential role of ECM constructs, particularly "Confirmation" and "Satisfaction," outweighing the impact of UTAUT constructs on users' behavior. Specifically, users' perceived confirmation significantly influences their satisfaction and subsequent intention to continue using AI Chatbots. Additionally, "Personal innovativeness" emerges as a critical determinant shaping users' behavioral intention. This research emphasizes the need for further exploration of AI tool adoption in educational settings and encourages continued investigation of their potential in teaching and learning environments.

Investigation of the moderation effect of gender and study level on the acceptance and use of generative AI by higher education students: Comparative evidence from Poland and Egypt

AbstractThis study delves into the implications of incorporating AI tools, specifically ChatGPT, in higher education contexts. With a primary focus on understanding the acceptance and utilization of ChatGPT among university students, the research utilizes the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) as the guiding framework. The investigation probes into four crucial constructs of UTAUT—performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence and facilitating conditions—to understand their impact on the intent and actual use behaviour of students. The study relies on data collected from six universities in two countries and assessed through descriptive statistics and structural equation modelling techniques, and also takes into account participants' gender and study level. The key findings show that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence significantly influence behavioural intention. Furthermore, behavioural intention, when considered alongside facilitating conditions, influences actual use behaviour. This research also explores the moderating impact of gender and study level on the relationships among these variables. The results not only augment our comprehension of technology acceptance in the context of AI tools but also provide valuable input for formulating strategies that promote effective incorporation of ChatGPT in higher education. The study underscores the need for effective awareness initiatives, bespoke training programmes, and intuitive tool designs to bolster students' perceptions and foster the wider adoption of AI tools in education.Practitioner notesWhat is already known about this topic ChatGPT is a tool that is quickly gaining worldwide recognition. What this paper adds This study explores students' acceptance of ChatGPT as an aid in their education, which has not been studied previously. We used the extended Unified Technology Acceptance and Use of Technology theory to test what factors mostly influence the use of ChatGPT by students. We conducted a multiple study in Poland and Egypt based on sampling strategy from six universities. Implications for practice and/or policy ChatGPT is a global game changer and should be incorporated into study programmes. The limitations of ChatGPT should be well explained and known since it is prone to making mistakes. Higher education teachers should be aware of ChatGPT's capabilities.

Predicting the employment of teledentistry in clinical practice by the Saudi dental community using a theoretical model.

There are very few scholastic studies applying a theory-driven methodology to analyse the employment of teledentistry in clinical practice by the Saudi dental community. The objective of this research was to predict the employment of teledentistry in clinical practice by the Saudi dental community using the UTAUT (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology) model. A countrywide survey was executed from November 2022 to April 2023 among the dental community (pre-graduate students, graduates, post-graduate students, general dentists, and specialist dentists) involved in clinical practice. The survey employed the UTAUT model, which has four fundamental constructs: performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI) and facilitating conditions (FC). These constructs are known to impact the user's behavioural intention (BI). The four fundamental constructs were independent, and BI was the dependent variable. A Likert scale with five scores was used to record each variable. Descriptive statistics were used to describe all the constructs. Cronbach's alpha scores were used to measure the inner consistency of the Likert scale. Simple linear regression and multiple linear regression were used to determine the correlation between all the constructs and the overall model's prediction. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences was applied for analysis. The study had 80% power and an alpha threshold of .05. The electronic survey was sent to 3000 participants, out of whom 2143 responded (response rate = 71.43%). PE (R2= 26%, p < .01) was the most significant predictor of the Saudi dental community BI to employ teledentistry in clinical practice, followed by SI (R2= 24%, p < .01), EE (R2= 19%, p < .01) and FC (R2= 6%, p < .01). With statistically significant predictive power, the UTAUT model explained 32% of the variance in the BI (R2= 0.32, p < .01). Each UTAUT construct and the entire model were significantly correlated with the employment of teledentistry in clinical practice by the Saudi dental community. PE had the most salient correlation, followed by SI, EE and FC. The participants have perceived the benefits of teledentistry, increasing the future likelihood of its utilisation. The Saudi government could consider the UTAUT constructs to promote teledentistry in tandem with Vision 2030.

Factors influencing the incorporation of web technologies by university libraries in Southern African Development Community

The role of web technologies into the service delivery in university libraries cannot be overemphasised. The purpose of this paper was to investigate the factors that influenced the incorporation of web technologies into the services of university libraries in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. The study was underpinned by the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) and triangulated quantitative and qualitative research strategies in data collection and analysis. The population of this study comprised librarians from university libraries in the SADC region whose language of communication is English. A questionnaire, administered with the research electronic data capture (REDCap) software, was employed to collect quantitative data from 54 librarians, while an interview protocol was used to collect qualitative data from 6 librarians. Results showed that university libraries in the SADC region have incorporated web technologies in services. The results further revealed that the UTAUT constructs, namely, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions played a part in decisions by the university libraries to incorporate web technologies into their services and that librarians were influenced by these factors to use such tools to provide web-based library services.

The design of the Deaf in Touch Everywhere (DITE)TM mobile application with Deaf and interpreter communities in Malaysia

Background Ineffective communication with Deaf individuals in healthcare settings has led to poor outcomes including miscommunication, waste, and errors. To help address these challenges, we developed a mobile app, Deaf in Touch Everywhere (DITETM) which aims to connect the Deaf community in Malaysia with a pool of off-site interpreters through secure video conferencing. Objectives The aims of this study were to (a) assess the feasibility and acceptability of measuring unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) constructs for DITETM with the Deaf community and Malaysian sign language (BIM) interpreters and (b) seek input from Deaf people and BIM interpreters on DITETM to improve its design. Methods Two versions of the UTAUT questionnaire were adapted for BIM interpreters and the Deaf community. Participants were recruited from both groups and asked to test the DITE app features over a 2-week period. They then completed the questionnaire and participated in focus group discussions to share their feedback on the app. Results A total of 18 participants completed the questionnaire and participated in the focus group discussions. Ratings of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions and behavioural intention were high across both groups, and suggestions were provided to improve the app. High levels of engagement suggest that measurement of UTAUT constructs with these groups (through a modified questionnaire) is feasible and acceptable. Conclusions The process of engaging end users in the design process provided valuable insights and will help to ensure that the DITETM app continues to address the needs of both the Deaf community and BIM interpreters in Malaysia.

Drivers of electric vehicle adoption: the moderating role of technological innovativeness

PurposeThis research examines the drivers of electric vehicle (EV) acceptance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) by applying the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model, contextualized for the EV setting. The study aims to provide insights supporting the transition to sustainable transportation and identifying consumer perceptions and behavioral intentions toward EV adoption.Design/methodology/approachBased on survey data from a convenience sample collected from undergraduate and MBA students in a major university of KSA, the authors use seemingly unrelated regressions to provide novel insights on electric vehicle acceptance.FindingsThe study shows UTAUT constructs influence purchase intentions and attitudinal outcomes. Results indicate that perceived EV sustainability plays an important role in the relationship between UTAUT constructs and purchase intention alongside attitudes toward EV technology. Technological innovativeness enhances the impact of EV attitude and weakens the effect of perceived EV sustainability on purchase intention.Research limitations/implicationsThe study benefits researchers on sustainable technology acceptance and stakeholders facilitating sustainable transportation shifts. The insights guide the promotion of eco-friendly transportation solutions.Originality/valueThe research contextualizes and extends the UTAUT model constructs to understand drivers of EV acceptance. The study contributes to understanding sustainable innovation acceptance, considering the mediating role of perceptions of EV sustainability and the moderating role of technological innovativeness in driving purchase intentions.

A REVIEW OF THE ACCEPTANCE ON LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (LMS) USING UNIFIED THEORY ACCEPTANCE AND USE OF TECHNOLOGY (UTAUT)

Technology advancement in the world nowadays has dramatically evolved, especially in education trends. LMS has become increasingly popular in higher education institutions because it provides a centralised platform for course materials, assignments, and communication. However, despite the benefits that LMS can offer, its adoption by students is only sometimes guaranteed. Conversely, The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) is a popular model for understanding and forecasting whether people will adopt a technology. This review looked at how UTAUT has been applied to examine the acceptance of Learning Management Systems (LMS). It was found that the four main factors in the UTAUT model, “Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, and Facilitating Conditions”, can all be important predictors of whether users will accept and use an LMS. The UTAUT model provides a relevant framework for discerning key drivers of user acceptance of learning technologies like LMS. The review found that the relative importance of these constructs can vary depending on the context of use. For example, social influence may be more critical in the context of mandatory LMS adoption. At the same time, facilitating conditions may be essential in voluntary LMS adoption. This review shows things that affect whether people use a new LMS. LMS setup should address user concerns and expectations. Thinking about these user factors can lead to better LMS success. Developers and implementers of LMSs should consider the four key constructs of UTAUT when designing and implementing their systems. Hence, it can increase users’ likelihood of accepting and using the LMS. The findings of this review provide a valuable overview of the factors that influence the acceptance of LMS.

Social Networking Sites for Success: A UTAUT-Based Investigation into University Employee Performance Enhancement

Social networking sites (SNS) have the potential to improve employee performance among university employees in Malaysia. This study delves into the potential of SNS as a means for enhancing employee performance, guided by the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). Leveraging targeted advertisements to augment performance, the research analyzes a sample of 299 university employee participants in Malaysia through a convenience sampling approach, employing SmartPLS analysis to explore the intricate relationships among technology adoption, advertisement effectiveness, and employee performance. The study reveals the significant impact of UTAUT constructs on technology acceptance and highlights the substantial influence of strategically placed advertisements on SNS engagement. The findings underscore the dynamic interplay between technological acceptance, advertisement efficacy, and enhanced employee performance. The implications of this research are noteworthy, offering organizations actionable insights for leveraging SNS platforms and tailored advertisements to optimize workforce productivity and elevate overall performance outcomes. This study contributes to the understanding of how SNS technology adoption among university employees can be a potent tool in shaping organizational success through improved employee performance.

Factors Affecting the Adoption of Teledentistry Based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology Model.

The rise of teledentistry initiatives within the healthcare system is being recognized as healthcare institutions strive to decrease costs and enhance operational effectiveness. While previous research endeavors have examined various variables influencing the adoption of teledentistry, there exists a dearth of empirical studies that comprehensively investigate the success factors facilitating the acceptance of teledentistry. This research aimed to examine the factors that influence the behavioral intention of undergraduate dental students and interns to utilize teledentistryusing the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) as a theoretical framework. A cross-sectional survey study was conducted in early 2023. An online survey was emailed to Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) students from the fourth to sixth years and interns (N = 199) at a dental school in Saudi Arabia. A total of 187 students have responded (response rate: 93.9%). The survey comprised questions and scales that measured the UTAUT constructs of performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI), facilitating conditions (FC), and behavioral intentions (BI). The data were analyzed using SPSS version 28 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY). The findings of the study revealed that all UTAUT constructs had strong predictive power in relation to the BI in the decision to adopt teledentistry. Nevertheless, PEand EEwere the salient factors. There was a statistically significant relationship between the UTAUT model and the BI, with the model explaining 60% of the variance in the BI (R2 = 0.606, P < 0.001). The findings revealed that dental students' openness to teledentistry is influenced by their expectations for potential success, the level of work required, and the level of social pressure exerted on them. Thus, a number of different forms of support are required to boost teledentistry's uptake.

Factors That Influence the Intention of Smallholder Rice Farmers to Adopt Cleaner Production Practices: An Empirical Study of Precision Agriculture Adoption.

Sustainable agriculture is crucial for achieving SDG2 and building a resilient climate-food system. This study provides a nuanced understanding of factors that influence the adoption of precision agriculture technology by Vietnamese smallholder rice farmers as a sustainable agricultural solution. The study's objectives are: (1) to provide a nuanced understanding of factors that influence adoption of precision agriculture technology by Vietnamese smallholder rice farmers; and (2) to identify factors associated with agricultural practice in Vietnam that may impact the adoption of precision agriculture technology. The study conducted 35 semi-structured interviews with smallholder rice farmers and agriculture experts. Data were analyzed using iterative thematic analysis. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model was used for empirical analysis. The UTAUT constructs of Performance expectancy, Effort expectancy, Government support, and Social influence were found to be determinants of adoption. Trialability and Observability impact Effort expectancy and Performance expectancy. We also discovered that the performance of agricultural cooperatives and support of lead firms play a crucial role in facilitating agricultural technology adoption by Vietnamese smallholder rice farmers. The results confirm the applicability of UTAUT in defining smallholders' behavioural intention and predicting agricultural technology adoption. The study also provides constructive feedback on the UTAUT model by highlighting the effect of agricultural cooperatives' performance as innovation intermediaries and of the support of lead firms.

C5-LMS design using Google Classroom: user acceptance based on extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology

ABSTRACT Changes in the educational landscape due to the COVID-19 pandemic open opportunities to create instructional materials that will make teaching and learning easier. The use of a learning tool such as Learning Management System (LMS) as the online classrooms of students is one of the essentials in an online learning environment. Utilizing an action research design, this study aims to assess the designed Cloud-based Centralized Collaborative Classroom and Communication – Learning Management System (C5-LMS) using Google Classroom. The assessment of C5-LMS was anchored on the extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model. The respondents of the study were the faculty members, supervisors, and students of a certain college that utilized the pilot of C5-LMS design. Findings of the study revealed that the C5-LMS via Google Classroom gained “acceptability” among the respondents in terms of extended UTAUT constructs. Users’ overall acceptance of the C5-LMS when grouped according to their roles revealed that the teacher-respondents’ rating is highly acceptable, nevertheless, the superior and students’ assessment is acceptable. Moreover, all the respondents confirmed that the C5-LMS has the following capabilities that corroborate the initial findings: collaboration, communication, facilitation tasks, usefulness, easy navigation, and monitoring system.

Examining the Acceptance of Automated Piggery Cleaner System Using UTAUT Model for Hog Business in the Philippines

This study examines the acceptance of automated piggery cleaner systems in the hog business in the Philippines using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model. It investigates piggery owners’ perceptions and attitudes toward adopting this technology and its potential impact on cleaning practices, hygiene standards, and productivity. A survey questionnaire was administered to 50 piggery owners in Cebu, Philippines, employing a mixed-methods approach. The analysis reveals that piggery owners generally hold positive perceptions and attitudes towards automated piggery cleaner systems, recognizing their potential benefits in enhancing productivity, efficiency, and career advantages. Factors influencing acceptance, such as performance expectancy, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, and social influence, were explored. Although the correlation analysis does not show significant relationships between UTAUT constructs and behavioral intention, it emphasizes considering other factors like subjective norms and perceived behavioral control. The findings have important implications for the hog business in the Philippines. Embracing automated piggery cleaner systems can improve cleaning practices, enhance hygiene standards, prevent disease outbreaks, and increase productivity. Collaborative efforts among piggery owners, industry associations, and technology providers are recommended to address concerns and barriers, including providing training and support, ensuring compatibility, and emphasizing voluntary adoption. This study offers valuable insights for pig farmers, industry stakeholders, and policymakers, enabling the adoption of innovative technologies and achieving sustainable and efficient pig farming practices in the Philippines.

Using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) to predict the behavioral intent of teledentistry utilization amongst United States adults.

Teledentistry is an innovative health care delivery platform that can potentially improve oral health access and outcomes. The purpose of this study was to predict teledentistry utilization intentions of U.S. adults using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) as a framework. This mixed-method, cross-sectional study surveyed 899 participants from two independent samples in August and September 2021. Convenience samples of Minnesota State Fair attendees and ResearchMatch volunteers completed electronic surveys to identify the behavioral intention (BI) for teledentistry use within the next 6 months. Independent variables were the UTAUT constructs of performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI), and facilitating conditions (FC). Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and multiple linear regression adjusting for age, gender and educational level. Qualitative analysis used thematic analysis using UTAUT as a coding framework. Univariate analysis showed statistical significance between each construct with BI (P < 0.0001). Adjusted multiple linear regression revealed statistical significance between PE and SI with BI (P < 0.0001). Qualitative responses corroborated quantitative results and revealed a lack of teledentistry knowledge. The majority of participants indicated an intention not to use teledentistry within the next 6 months. The lack of prior experience of telehealth or teledentistry use in addition to lack of knowledge regarding teledentistry may contribute to these results. Future interventions to improve the BI to use teledentistry may benefit from focusing on PE and SI constructs for educational and marketing strategies.

Behavioral Predictors of Intention to Use a Text Messaging Reminder System Among People Living With HIV in Rural Uganda: Survey Study.

The expansion of cellular phones in sub-Saharan Africa spurred the development of SMS text message-based mobile health (mHealth) technology. Numerous SMS text message-based interventions have attempted to increase retention in care for people living with HIV in sub-Saharan Africa. Many of these interventions have failed to scale. Understanding theory-grounded factors leading to mHealth acceptability is needed to create scalable, contextually appropriate, and user-focused interventions to improve longitudinal HIV care for people living with HIV in sub-Saharan Africa. In this study, we aimed to understand the relationship between constructs from the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), constructs identified in previous qualitative research, and behavioral intention to use a novel SMS text message-based mHealth intervention designed to improve care retention among people living with HIV initiating treatment in rural Uganda. We conducted a survey of people living with HIV who were newly initiating HIV care in Mbarara, Uganda, and had agreed to use a novel SMS text message-based system that notified them of abnormal laboratory results and reminded them to return to the clinic. Survey items assessed behavioral intention to use the SMS text messaging system; constructs from UTAUT; and demographics, literacy, SMS text messaging experience, HIV status disclosure, and social support. We used factor analysis and logistic regression to estimate the relationships between UTAUT constructs and the behavioral intention to use the SMS text messaging system. A total of 249 participants completed the surveys, of whom 115 (46.2%) expressed high behavioral intention to use the SMS text messaging intervention. In a multivariable analysis, we found that performance expectancy (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] of the scaled factor score 5.69, 95% CI 2.64-12.25; P<.001), effort expectancy (aOR of the scaled factor score 4.87, 95% CI 1.75-13.51; P=.002), and social influence (measured as a 1-unit Likert score increase in the perception that clinical staff have been helpful in the use of the SMS text messaging program; aOR 3.03, 95% CI 1.21-7.54; P=.02) were significantly associated with high behavioral intention to use the SMS text messaging program. SMS text messaging experience (aOR/1-unit increase 1.48, 95% CI 1.11-1.96; P=.008) and age (aOR/1-year increase 1.07, 95% CI 1.03-1.13; P=.003) were also significantly associated with increased odds of high intention to use the system. Performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence, as well as age and SMS experience, were drivers of high behavioral intention to use an SMS text messaging reminder system among people living with HIV initiating treatment in rural Uganda. These findings highlight salient factors associated with SMS intervention acceptability in this population and indicate attributes that are likely to be key to the successful development and scaling of novel mHealth interventions.

Adoption of online mathematics learning in Ugandan government universities during the COVID-19 pandemic: pre-service teachers’ behavioural intention and challenges

In the wake of COVID-19, higher education institutions worldwide were forced to continue teaching and learning through online means. However, it was only during the pandemic that institutions in Uganda, such as Kabale University, embraced online learning. Against this background, one could not predict how students drastically adapted to the new normal, especially in mathematics, which requires a lot of practice. Thus, this study sought to establish the relationship between behavioural intention to use technology and the adoption of online mathematics learning among pre-service teachers at Kabale University. We conceptualized behavioural intention to use technology according to the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) as comprising four factors: performance expectancy, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, and social influence. This mixed methods study followed a cross-sectional correlational survey and hermeneutic phenomenological research designs. We collected data from 140 pre-service mathematics teachers, who were sampled using stratified and simple random sampling techniques, through a self-administered questionnaire. Also, we collected qualitative data through nine face-to-face interviews of pre-service mathematics teachers using criterion sampling, where the most prominent criterion was the participant's experience with the phenomenon under study. Using Pearson’s linear correlation, results showed that all UTAUT constructs were related to the adoption of online learning. Simple linear regression revealed that facilitating conditions were the strongest predictor. Furthermore, the narrative analysis indicated that, among others, a lack of technological knowledge hindered learners’ effective participation in online mathematics lectures. Therefore they barely benefited from online learning. Thus, we recommend government universities enhance teachers’ and learners’ technological knowledge, among other facilitating conditions such as establishing strong on-campus Wi-Fi connections as online learning continues.

A systematic review of UTAUT2 constructs’ analysis among MSMEs in non-OECD countries

Purpose This paper aims to analyse the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) and UTAUT2 constructs used in research on information and communication technology (ICT) adoption and use among micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in non-organisation for economic co-operation and development (OECD) countries. It also investigates the areas of ICT adoption along the value chain in studies using these constructs. Design/methodology/approach Systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted, where 910 studies were retrieved manually in five academic databases. Forty-eight studies were finalised after four filtration levels. Findings Majority of the studies were published within the past six years, and 85.42% were studies in the form of journal papers. UTAUT constructs more researched compared to UTAUT2 constructs. More than half of the studies investigated ICT application in value chain boundaries, while 16 studies were organisation-wide studies. Research limitations/implications With developments in MSMEs’ technology, the UTAUT2 model must be expanded to internal company operations including finance and infrastructure maintenance. To boost competitiveness and productivity, non-OECD authorities should focus on the cost and user-centric characteristics of MSMEs’ technology adoption. Originality/value Although SLRs on UTAUT and UTAUT2 constructs have been attempted previously, this study contributes to the body of knowledge by focusing analysis on the application of those constructs on MSMEs in non-OECD countries and also by situating ICT adoption along the value chain of enterprises.

Modeling public acceptance of demand-responsive transportation: An integrated UTAUT and ITM framework

Demand-responsive transportation (DRT) is a flexible form of shared mobility in which service provision is shaped by the user demand. DRT has been considered a sustainable mobility solution, as it reduces CO2 emissions from fixed-route services and encourages a mode shift from private cars to shared mobility. Given that public acceptance is a key for the wider diffusion of DRT, this study explored the factors affecting usage intention for DRT in the Republic of Korea. Drawing on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) and the initial trust model (ITM), a conceptual framework was developed that linked attitudinal and psychological factors to behavioral intention for DRT usage. 1168 valid observations were collected from adults aged 19–64 years in the Republic of Korea using a structured online survey, and analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results showed that the four UTAUT constructs (performance expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, and environmental concerns) were directly related to intention for DRT usage. Indirect impacts of perceived safety, structural assurance, familiarity, performance expectancy, and effort expectancy on initial trust were also found. Consequently, the constructs with the greatest total effect on usage intention were (in order of relevance) initial trust, performance expectancy, social influence, and structural assurance. As one of the few attempts to examine public acceptance of DRT, it is expected that findings from this study could contribute to the literature by providing insights into potential users’ attitudes toward DRT. This study further offers guidance on designing interventions intended to promote a transition toward increased operational efficiency through policy developments for DRT, thereby achieving sustainable development.

Factors determining behavioural intention of nursing students to use mobile learning: an application and extension of the UTAUT model

Mobile learning (m-learning) promotes not only the quality of learning process but also learning performance. Therefore, this study proposed a theoretical framework model to predict the factors affecting behavioural intentions of nursing students to use m-learning. We evaluated the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model and extended it to include attitude, mobile self-efficacy, and motivation, with mobile literacy as the moderating factor. For this purpose, the structural equation model was used to analyse data from an online survey of 792 nursing students from six universities in Taiwan. The results confirm that: 1) attitude was an important determinant of the behavioural intention of nursing students to use m-learning; 2) amongst the four major constructs of UTAUT, performance expectancy had the most significant impact on behavioural intention; 3) M-SE and motivation were important external factors of PE and effort expectancy; 4) mobile literacy had a significant moderating effect on the relationship among PE, facilitating conditions, and behavioural intention. The results of this study provide support for an extended UTAUT model and significant practical recommendations for researchers, nursing students, and coherent education units, in order to improve the feasibility of m-learning.

Pembelajaran Akuntansi Secara Online: Pengujian Model Unified Theory Of Acceptance Dan Use Of Technology (UTAUT)

This study aims to test and analyze the factors that affect the E-learning System at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Mataram. The unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model is a synthesis of a technological acceptance model that will be appropriately used as an e-learning evaluation model. The variables used in this study are the four key constructs of UTAUT, namely; performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating condition. The samples in this study were determined using purposive sampling and determination of the number of samples using the Yamane taro technique so that a total sample of 229 respondents was obtained. Data collection was carried out by the questionnaire method and used SPSS version 25 in carrying out statistical data analysis. The results of this proposal show that the variables of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence do not have a significant effect on the e-larning system, while the facilitating condition variables have a significant effect on the e-learning system.&#x0D; Keyword: E-learning system, acceptance, UTAUT mode

Shared Decision-Making for Drug-Drug Interactions: Formative Evaluation of an Anticoagulant Drug Interaction.

Warnings about drug-drug interactions (DDIs) between warfarin and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) within electronic health records indicate potential harm but fail to account for contextual factors and preferences. We developed a tool called DDInteract to enhance and support shared decision-making (SDM) between patients and physicians when both warfarin and NSAIDs are used concurrently. DDInteract was designed to be integrated into electronic health records using interoperability standards. The purpose of this study was to conduct a formative evaluation of a DDInteract that incorporates patient and product contextual factors to estimate the risk of bleeding. A randomized formative evaluation was conducted to compare DDInteract to usual care (UC) using physician-patient dyads. Using case vignettes, physicians and patients on warfarin participated in simulated virtual clinical encounters where they discussed the use of taking ibuprofen and warfarin concurrently and determined an appropriate therapeutic plan based on the patient's individualized risk. Dyads were randomized to either DDInteract or UC. Participants completed a postsession interview and survey of the SDM process. This included the 9-item Shared Decision-Making Questionnaire (SDM-Q-9), tool usability and workload National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Task Load Index, Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), Perceived Behavioral Control (PBC) scale, System Usability Scale (SUS), and Decision Conflict Scale (DCS). They also were interviewed after the session to obtain perceptions on DDInteract and UC resources for DDIs. Twelve dyad encounters were performed using virtual software. Most (n=11, 91.7%) patients were over 50 years of age, and 9 (75%) had been taking warfarin for more than 2 years (75%). Regarding scores on the SDM-Q-9, participants rated DDInteract higher than UC for questions pertaining to helping patients clarify the decision (P=.03), involving patients in the decision (P=.01), displaying treatment options (P<.001), identifying advantages and disadvantages (P=.01), and facilitating patient understanding (P=.01) and discussion of preferences (P=.01). Five of the 8 UTAUT constructs showed differences between the 2 groups, favoring DDInteract (P<.05). Usability ratings from the SUS were significantly higher (P<.05) for physicians using DDInteract compared to those in the UC group but showed no differences from the patient's perspective. No differences in patient responses were observed between groups using the DCS. During the session debrief, physicians indicated little concern for the additional time or workload entailed by DDInteract use. Both clinicians and patients indicated that the tool was beneficial in simulated encounters to understand and mitigate the risk of harm from this DDI. Overall, DDInteract may improve encounters where there is a risk of bleeding due to a potential drug-drug interaction involving anticoagulants. Participants rated DDInteract as logical and useful for enhancing SDM. They reported that they would be willing to use the tool for an interaction involving warfarin and NSAIDs.
