Developing students’ soft skills through the elective course “English for cross-cultural communication”

Importance. The planned transition to new Federal State Educational Standards of the 4th generation has necessitated a revision of the range of competencies developed by students while mastering the educational program in general and in the process of studying different courses. Particular attention has to be paid to the formation of universal competencies, or soft skills, which are necessary for a modern specialist to solve professional problems. To ensure the implementation of this process, Russian universities are introducing additional elective and optional disciplines, as a result of studying which students are expected to acquire a certain set of universal competencies. The purpose of this study is to identify what soft skills can be developed through the elective course “English for cross-cultural communication”.Materials and Methods. The research is carried out using theoretical methods – literature review on the research topic, analysis, comparison and generalization of the results obtained, and experimental methods – a survey of 2nd year undergraduate students. The objectives of the survey include identifying the degree of students’ understanding of the essence of soft skills, identifying priority competencies and receiving feedback on the course content.Results and Discussion. The existing approaches to defining soft skills and their classification are studied. An analysis of the literature on the research problem reveals the lack of a unified terminology, multiple interpretations of the term “soft skills” and classifications of soft skills. An attempt has been made to describe the content of the course “English for cross-cultural communication” in terms of developing soft skills necessary for a modern professional. The types of tasks integrated into the content of the course and their correlation with soft skills formed through one or another type of in-class or out-of-class activities are considered.Conclusion. It is found that the elective course “English for cross-cultural communication” has great potential in terms of increasing the general cultural level of students and developing a wide range of soft skills: communication, cooperation, critical thinking, creativity, empathy, leadership and the ability to work in a team.

The legal nature of crypto assets and its reflection in the civil and tax legislation of the Russian Federation

The article analyzes the legal nature of crypto assets in Russian legislation and the specifics of their taxation, focusing on the need to form a legal framework that promotes effective protection of the rights of participants in the turnover of crypto assets.The methodological basis of the research is the dialectical method, the formal logical method, the formal legal method and the method of interpretation of law.The lack of a unified terminology base in the field of digital economy in Russian legislation creates additional difficulties in creating comfortable conditions for the development of the crypto asset market. Currently used various terms such as “virtual assets”, “digital assets”, “crypto assets”, “cryptocurrency” are not fixed in the current legislation. At the same time, the terms existing in Russian legislation do not allow for effective regulation in the field of taxation and civil turnover, since they intentionally exclude the most common crypto assets from their scope. Without clear and unambiguous legal regulation, it is difficult to ensure proper control and taxation of transactions with crypto assets, which can lead to significant tax losses and a decrease in budget revenues.Moreover, the concept of “digital currency” used in Russian legislation does not correspond to the generally accepted meaning in international practice and is mainly considered in an economic context, rather than in a legal one. Such a discrepancy in terminology creates additional difficulties for participants in the cryptocurrency market and creates obstacles to the formation of an effective legal framework for the regulation of the digital economy. According to the results of the study, it was concluded that the current approaches to the development of the terminological apparatus of the regulation of crypto assets have flaws, since they allow for a mixture of concepts and do not imply the formation of a clear hierarchy. The definition of “the digital asset” is proposed for the purpose of filling existing terminological gaps in the current legislation.

The problems of adapting Antitrust Law to the digital economy

In connection with the Fifth Antimonopoly Package, the author analyzes the effectiveness of new competition law. The aim of the research is to identify the legal and economic consequences of including the term “network effect” and special legal structures for abuse of a dominant position in digital markets in Russian legislation. The study is based on Russian and foreign legislation, materials from judicial practice, and scientific research. The new rules make it possible for the existing legal regulation on the protection of competition to be applied to the phenomena of the digital economy. However, in the digital sectors, prohibiting the abuse of a dominant position contributes to strengthening the dominance of platform operators and the formation of a digital monopoly. This is not entirely consistent with the goals of antitrust regulation. With the consolidation in the provisions of Russian law of the principle of technological neutrality, as well as the design of a public contract, the strengthening of the dominance of platform operators may be restricted. A consequence of the lack of unified terminology in the Fifth Antimonopoly Package and legislation on digital platforms is the unreasonable limitation of the subject composition of the prohibition of abuse of a dominant position in digital markets. The Fifth Antimonopoly package applies to the activities of marketplaces and aggregators, but does not extend to digital ecosystems and digital services in the format of applications, cloud storage, social networks, search engines, streaming services, among others. This limitation will be overcome by applying the general rules on the prohibition of monopolistic activities and unfair competition to digital ecosystems and digital services. The author draws attention to a number of practical problems in applying dominance criteria to the activities of digital intermediaries, focusing on their business model. Conclusions are drawn about the advisability of expanding the subject composition of relations regulated by the new special rules of the Fifth Antimonopoly Package. Legal means are also proposed aimed at ensuring a balance of interests of the dominant digital platform operators and users.

Initiating a One Digital Health Unified Terminology (ODH-UT) to Facilitate Community Expansion.

One Digital Health (ODH) merges the Digital Health and One Health approaches to create a comprehensive framework for future health ecosystems. In this rapidly evolving field, a standardized vocabulary is not just a convenience, but a necessity to ensure efficient communication. This research proposes the development of a "One Digital Health-Unified Terminology" (ODH-UT) to facilitate communication among researchers and practitioners in Digital Health and One Health, addressing this crucial need.

In the article, special attention is paid to the diverse aspects of the allocation of regional growth points, which made it possible to identify their characteristic features and parameters of assessing factors for a possible rating of territories. It was concluded that the methodological and methodological aspects of the study of regional development parameters encountered in practice for identifying growth points do not take into account such important characteristics as the dig-ital development of single-industry territories, digital sustainability and digital transformation processes that take place in a particular territory. At the same time, there is no unified terminology that allows taking into account the peculiar-ities of digitalization of municipalities, which was the basis for the proposal of the author's concepts "digital transformation of a single-profile municipal for-mation" and "digital stability of a single-profile municipal formation", as well as the proposal of a system of parameters for their assessment. A register of prob-lematic aspects of the allocation of regional growth points has been formed, which are subject to monitoring analytical treatments for the use of appropriate tools to suppress them.

The classification of the fern family Gleicheniaceae, with the description of a new genus, segregated from Sticherus

Abstract Gleicheniaceae is an early diverging lineage of leptosporangiate ferns. Although the family can be readily recognized by the pseudodichotomous branching pattern of its fronds, generic circumscription has long been debated. Phylogenetic analyses based on genomic data supported the monophyly of six genera (Dicranopteris, Diplopterygium, Gleichenella, Gleichenia, Rouxopteris, and Stromatopteris) but indicate the paraphyly of Sticherus. To accommodate this latter result, we describe a new genus, Sticheropsis, gen. nov., segregated from Sticherus. We provide a new taxonomic treatment of Gleicheniaceae, including an identification key to all eight genera, descriptions of the genera with comments and notes concerning geographic distributions and phylogenetic affinities, as well as an overview of the morphology of the family with a revised and unified terminology for the fronds. We recognize 149 species plus two hybrids for the family, distributed into eight genera, and propose six new combinations.

ANALYSIS OF DISCOURSE AND TERMINOLOGY OF NATION-BUILDING IN THE CONTEXT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

The article analyzes the problems of nation-building terminology in policy documents, regulatory legal acts and social scientific discourse of Kazakhstan, using Norman Fairclough's three-dimensional model of critical discourse analysis. The authors divide content structure into three dimensions corresponding to Fairclough's model: text, discursive practice and sociocultural practice, which allows for a comprehensive assessment and analysis of linguistic and conceptual factors influencing the formation of national policy and public opinion. The study is aimed at identifying contradictions and discrepancies that exist in the terminological base and discursive practices. The authors offer specific recommendations for unifying terminology to improve the effectiveness of public policy in the field of nation-building.

Impact of implementing the first edition of the Paris system for reporting: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Urine cytology is a noninvasive, widely used diagnostic tool for screening and surveillance of genitourinary tract neoplasms. However, the absence of unified terminology and clear objective morphological criteria limits the clinical benefit of urine cytology. The Paris System for Reporting Urine Cytology (TPS) was developed with the goal of standardizing reporting and improving urine cytology performance in detecting high-grade malignancy (HGM). We aimed to evaluate potential effects of TPS on improving urine cytology diagnostic performance and clinical utility by conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis. We searched six electronic databases to identify cross-sectional and cohort studies written in English assessing the accuracy of urine cytology in detecting genitourinary tract malignancies of patients under surveillance or with clinical suspicion of malignancy from January 2004 to December 2022. We extracted relevant data from eligible studies to calculate relative distribution of cytology diagnostic categories; ratio of atypical to HGM cytology diagnosis; and risk of HGM (ROHGM) and HGM likelihood ratio (HGM-LR) associated with cytology diagnostic categories. We used a generalized linear mixed model with logit transformation to combine proportions and multilevel mixed-effect logistic regression to pool diagnostic accuracy measurements. We performed meta-regression to evaluate any significant difference between TPS and non-TPS cohorts. We included 64 studies for 99,796 combined total cytology samples, across 31 TPS and 49 non-TPS cohorts. Pooled relative distribution [95% confidence interval (CI)] of negative for high-grade urothelial carcinoma (NHGUC)/negative for malignancy (NM); atypical urothelial cells (AUC); suspicious for high-grade urothelial carcinoma (SHGUC)/suspicious for malignancy (SM); low-grade urothelial neoplasm (LGUN); and HGM categories among satisfactory cytology cases were 83.8% (80.3%-86.9%), 8.0% (6.0%-10.6%), 2.2% (1.4%-3.3%), 0.01% (0.0%-0.1%), and 4.2% (3.2%-5.5%) in TPS versus 80.8% (76.8-2.7%), 11.3% (8.6%-14.7%), 1.8% (1.2%-2.7%), 0.01% (0.0%-0.1%), and 3.3% (2.5%-4.3%) in non-TPS cohorts. Adopting TPS classification resulted in a significant increase in the frequency of NHGUC and a reduction in AUC cytology diagnoses, respectively. The AUC/HGM ratio in TPS cohort was 2.0, which showed a statistically significant difference from the atypical/HGM ratio of 4.1 in non-TPS cohort (p-value: 0.01). Moreover, the summary rate (95% CI) of LGUN called AUC on cytology significantly decreased to 20.8% (14.9%-28.3%) in the TPS compared with 34.1% (26.4%-42.8%) in non-TPS cohorts. The pooled ROHGM (95% CI) was 20.4% (6.2%-50.0%) in nondiagnostic (NDX), 15.5% (9.6%-24.2%) in NHGUC, 40.2% (30.9%-50.2%) in AUC, 80.8% (72.9%-86.8%) in SHGUC, 15.1% (5.7%-34.3%) in LGUN, and 91.4% (87.3%-94.3%) in HGM categories in TPS studies. NHGUC, AUC, SHGUC, and HGM categories were associated with HGM-LR (95% CI) of 0.2 (0.1-0.3), 0.9 (0.6-1.3), 6.9 (2.4-19.9), and 16.8 (8.3-33.8). Our results suggest that TPS 1.0 has reduced the relative frequency of AUC diagnosis, AUC/HGM ratio, and the frequency of LGUNs diagnosed as AUC on cytology. Adopting this classification has improved the clinical utility of SHGUC and HGM cytology diagnoses in ruling in high-grade lesions. However, an NHGUC diagnosis does not reliably rule out the presence of a high-grade lesion.

ПРОБЛЕМЫ ПРИМЕНЕНИЯ СОВРЕМЕННЫХ НОРМАТИВНЫХ ДОКУМЕНТОВ ДЛЯ РАСЧЕТА ТРАНСПОРТНЫХ СООРУЖЕНИЙ

About 400 normative documents were developed in the field of transportation construction, but the correctness and relevance of some of them is questionable. The lack of a unified terminology, the presence of contradictions and the increasing volume of documentation significantly complicate its use. In addition to general disadvantages, there are a number of private problems. For example, the authors point out the incorrect use of the limit states methodology for the calculation of structures, since this methodology considers limit (extreme) loads, and the regularities of the real behavior of the structure at lower levels of loads are unknown. In addition, the calculation according to limit states methodology does not take into account durability (it is not defined). When calculating using this methodology for the action of only loads with other unknown operating influences, the limit state is realized by reaching a certain limit value by this load. In reality, the limit state may occur due to changes in the shape of the structure, dimensions of cross-sections of structural elements and, more often, due to degradation of its material properties under the influence of service conditions. For the calculation of structures, it is necessary to apply the deformation approach more widely. According to it, both strength and deformation problems of structural calculation are correctly interrelated, and their hypotheses do not conflict with each other.

Интегративный подход к классификации молочной сыворотки

In 2014-2020, the Russian cheese and cottage-cheese market turned to import substitution, which boosted the volume of whey production. However, whey processing for food purposes remains as low as 20–30%. Despite the constant state control and penalties, most dairy plants prefer to dump whey in the sewage system, where it mixes with wastewater, which is environmentally and economically irrational. The factors that prevent the dairy industry from transiting to complete cycles of whey deep processing include the lack of unified terminology and standardization of secondary dairy raw materials. Mechanisms of dairy protein coagulation are different, which leads to numerous standardization issues. Other technological factors also contribute to the differences in criteria approaches. This article introduces a new whey classification system based on an integrative approach that takes into account the main technological aspects of whey production. It relies on scientifically substantiated mechanisms of protein coagulation, i.e., rennet, acid, acid-cheese, thermoacid, and thermo-calcium, as well as on the principle of microfiltration of dairy raw materials in obtaining micellar casein. As a secondary factor, the research involved curd, casein, and coprecipitate whey. The resulting integrative approach to whey classification will make it possible to perform whey processing depending on whey properties, as well as to create new models of complete deep processing cycle.

Accessory cavitated uterine malformation (ACUM): A scoping review.

Accessory cavitated uterine malformation (ACUM) is a relatively recent term used to describe a noncommunicating, accessory uterine cavity. ACUM have been published under different terms ranging from juvenile cystic adenomyosis to "uterus-like mass". The objective of this study was to systematically identify all cases of ACUM and definitions described in the literature, regardless of label, and identify morphological, epidemiological, and clinical characteristics as well as management, while also highlighting knowledge gaps. A systematic literature search of three databases was performed, reviewing all records of cystic myometrial lesions. Cases that fitted common definitions for ACUM were included and clinical and imaging characteristics were documented in detail. This work was registered to PROSPERO and reporting followed PRISMA guidelines for scoping reviews. A total of 53 articles were included, comprising 115 cases that met the minimal criteria for ACUM. The median age at onset of symptoms was 17 years, presenting with dysmenorrhea soon after menarche. A total of 19 women were parous. On ultrasound, ACUM appears as unilocular myometrial cysts, usually with ground-glass content. Hemorrhagic content is also observed on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), with high signal intensity on both T2 and T1-weighted images. Ninety-five (83%) cases were managed surgically, with a trend towards primary nonsurgical options. Although no adverse outcomes were reported, long-term follow-up on subsequent fertility and pregnancy was rare. Despite its increasing recognition as a clinical entity, ACUM often remains underdiagnosed as it shares similarities with other myometrial masses. We propose a unified terminology and definition for ACUM based on the data in this review. ACUM presents as a cavitated lesion, surrounded by a myometrial mantle, in continuity with the anterolateral uterine wall and located beneath the insertion of the round ligament and the interstitial portion of the fallopian tube. In contrast to other uterine abnormalities, a normal uterine cavity is visualized. Future studies are needed, using a clear definition for ACUM, and prospectively investigating management strategies, including long-term follow-up of patient-reported symptoms, fertility, and pregnancy outcomes.

The relationship between fear of missing out, digital technology use, and psychological well-being: A scoping review of conceptual and empirical issues.

Given the rise of digital technology and its assumed impact on psychological well-being, this scoping review systematically examines the literature on Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), which is assumed to play a pivotal role in this dynamic. Although adverse effects of FoMO are commonly assumed, there is still no consensus on the nature of the phenomenon or its relations with psychological well-being and digital technology use, making a scoping review essential. To address this need, we comprehensively assess the conceptualizations of the construct of FoMO and its roles in relation to well-being and digital technology use. We conducted a literature search in PubMed, Ebsco/APA PsycINFO, and Web of Science (period 2013 to July 7, 2023), screening 4121 articles at the title and abstract level and assessing 342 full-text articles for eligibility, ultimately including 106 articles. The review revealed a fragmented FoMO literature, emphasizing the need for conceptual clarity to address critical gaps and inconsistencies in existing research. Consensus exists on FoMO's essence-an unpleasant feeling arising from missed social experiences driven by activity comparison. However, debates include FoMO's associated affective states and conceptual boundaries, as well as the need to disentangle FoMO as a trait or state. The review also underscored FoMO's multifaceted roles in well-being and digital technology use, highlighting the need for causal research, theoretical guidance, and unified terminology to advance understanding in the FoMO literature.

Developing the First Digital Occupational Therapy Dictionary Worldwide: A Promising Mobile Application Model for Occupational Therapy Service Providers and Recipients.

The purpose of this study was to develop the first English-Arabic occupational therapy dictionary mobile application that could be used by occupational therapy service providers and recipients and help fill the gap in understanding and communicating occupational therapy services. Google Play Store and App Store application stores were searched first to identify any current electronic occupational therapy dictionary. While developing the dictionary concept and structure, end users' needs, language, and culture were taken into consideration applying a user-friendly design, functionalities, and an easy-to-understand language with illustrative visual representations. Our search for currently available electronic occupational therapy dictionaries did not identify any mobile application on the official application stores for iPhone and Android. As a result, a conceptual model was created to develop a mobile application aiming to develop a comprehensive and user-friendly mobile electronic dictionary with over 2400 scientific terms translated and annotated from English to Arabic, more than 350 illustrative pictures, and special features to assist occupational therapy professionals and occupational therapy services recipients in looking up and understanding terminology used in rehabilitation and occupational therapy in the most convenient, fastest, and easiest way possible. The occupational therapy dictionary mobile application has helped create a unified terminology and a common language of shared understanding, proved to be a helpful tool of communicating important messages between Arab occupational therapy professionals and community members through providing an easy access to up-to-date comprehensive English-Arabic lexicography in occupational therapy. It has become the first digital occupational therapy dictionary worldwide and has been made available for everyone to download from Google Play and App Store on their smartphones, computers, or tablets free of charge. Further research is urgently needed for quality improvement and to further enrich Arabic content in occupational therapy through developing evidence-based mobile tools to be used in occupational therapy practice by Arabic-speaking population.

When Meta-Learning Meets Online and Continual Learning: A Survey.

Over the past decade, deep neural networks have demonstrated significant success using the training scheme that involves mini-batch stochastic gradient descent on extensive datasets. Expanding upon this accomplishment, there has been a surge in research exploring the application of neural networks in other learning scenarios. One notable framework that has garnered significant attention is meta-learning. Often described as "learning to learn," meta-learning is a data-driven approach to optimize the learning algorithm. Other branches of interest are continual learning and online learning, both of which involve incrementally updating a model with streaming data. While these frameworks were initially developed independently, recent works have started investigating their combinations, proposing novel problem settings and learning algorithms. However, due to the elevated complexity and lack of unified terminology, discerning differences between the learning frameworks can be challenging even for experienced researchers. To facilitate a clear understanding, this paper provides a comprehensive survey that organizes various problem settings using consistent terminology and formal descriptions. By offering an overview of these learning paradigms, our work aims to foster further advancements in this promising area of research.

Definition and Diagnostic Criteria for Pediatric Blepharokeratoconjunctivitis

Pediatric blepharokeratoconjunctivitis (PBKC) is a chronic, sight-threatening inflammatory ocular surface disease. Due to the lack of unified terminology and diagnostic criteria, nonspecific symptoms and signs, and the challenge of differentiation from similar ocular surface disorders, PBKC may be frequently unrecognized or diagnosed late. To establish a consensus on the nomenclature, definition, and diagnostic criteria of PBKC. This quality improvement study used expert panel and agreement applying the non-RAND modified Delphi method and open discussions to identify unified nomenclature, definition, and definitive diagnostic criteria for PBKC. The study was conducted between September 1, 2021, and August 14, 2022. Consensus activities were carried out through electronic surveys via email and online virtual meetings. Of 16 expert international panelists (pediatric ophthalmologists or cornea and external diseases specialists) chosen by specific inclusion criteria, including their contribution to scientific leadership and research in PBKC, 14 (87.5%) participated in the consensus. The name proposed was "pediatric blepharokeratoconjunctivitis," and the agreed-on definition was "Pediatric blepharokeratoconjunctivitis is a frequently underdiagnosed, sight-threatening, chronic, and recurrent inflammatory eyelid margin disease associated with ocular surface involvement affecting children and adolescents. Its clinical spectrum includes chronic blepharitis, meibomitis, conjunctivitis, and corneal involvement ranging from superficial punctate keratitis to corneal infiltrates with vascularization and scarring." The diagnostic criteria included 1 or more suggestive symptoms accompanied by clinical signs from 3 anatomical regions: the eyelid margin, conjunctiva, and cornea. For PBKC suspect, the same criteria were included except for corneal involvement. The agreements on the name, definition, and proposed diagnostic criteria of PBKC may help ophthalmologists avoid diagnostic confusion and recognize the disease early to establish adequate therapy and avoid sight-threatening complications. The diagnostic criteria rely on published evidence, analysis of simulated clinical cases, and the expert panel's clinical experience, requiring further validation with real patient data analysis.

Sustainable Material Selection Framework: Taxonomy and Systematisation of Design Approaches to Sustainable Material Selection

Design can play a fundamental role in addressing the climate crisis and preserving the planet’s finite resources. Through design, it is possible to reduce the environmental impact of products and services right from concept stage. The elements that concur within a project are diverse and often have an impact on each other. The material is one of them, being able to influence the product, but also the business model, company relations, etc. To help the designer keep all these aspects under control, various methodologies and tools have been developed, among them design strategies and guidelines. To date, several authors have dealt with the topic, offering different perspectives and generating a critical mass of information, which differs in the level of depth and operability of the suggestions, often differing only in terminology rather than content. This inhomogeneity can confuse both professionals and students. This study proposes an ordered taxonomy of the different levels of detail and a unified terminology of the strategies and guidelines in the literature. To test taxonomy and systematisation, this article focuses on guidelines for material choice, resulting in a framework to guide the selection of materials with a view to sustainability.

Construction and Statistical Analysis of Discourse Cohesive Components in Modern Chinese

In discourse semantic analysis, the primary focus lies on cohesive elements that maintain discourse coherence. Additionally, attention is given to referring components and topic description structures that facilitate articulation. Various terms are used to refer to these cohesive elements, such as connecting components, logical connectives, relational words and cohesive components. However, there is a lack of unified terminology. The concept of cohesive components has been proposed before. In prior research, it primarily encompassed connectives, discourse markers and tone words, all of which contribute to discourse coherence. However, these definitions were relatively imprecise, and previous studies did not systematically categorize discourse cohesive components based on specific semantic functions. Consequently, they were inadequate for chapter-level semantic analysis. This paper extends the definition and scope of cohesive components based on existing research. It categorizes cohesive components according to both their formal characteristics and semantic functions. We extract cohesive components from the BLCU-CST tree bank, filter them based on specific scope and definition, and summarize a total of 247 logical connectives, 118 discourse connective markers and six types of numerical sequence connectives. In terms of semantic function, we analyze the distribution of 14 different logical-semantic relations that cohesive components indicate within discourse. This analysis not only enriches the understanding of discourse semantics for natural language comprehension but also offers valuable insights for linguistic ontology research.

Re-defining wearable robots: a multidisciplinary approach towards a unified terminology

Effective communication is especially important in the wearable robots (WRs) community, which encloses a great variety of devices across different application domains, e.g., healthcare, occupational, and consumer. In this paper we present a vocabulary of terms with the aim to create a common understanding of terms and concepts among the different fields of expertise relevant in the WRs community. Our goal is to develop shared documentation that could serve as a reference to facilitate the use of accepted definitions in the field. The presented vocabulary is the result of different focus group discussions among experts in the field. The resulting document was then validated by presenting it to the WR community through an online survey. The results of the survey highlight a strong agreement in terms of acceptance of the vocabulary, its usefulness, and applicability of the proposed definitions as well as an overall appreciation for its purpose and target. This work represents a pilot study providing unique material for the WR community, encouraging the use of shared agreed definitions. Freight last mile delivery: a literature review

ABSTRACT The authors review the literature on last mile delivery logistics within commercial and humanitarian supply chains from 2010 to the end of 2021. The scope of the last mile, including last mile logistics, last mile distribution, and last-mile mile delivery, is covered. A unifying terminology of the major concepts in this field and a bibliometric analysis are provided. Based on the analysis, the authors further classify and discuss the literature into three clusters: humanitarian relief, commercial logistics, and emerging technologies. Within each generated cluster, research gaps and current trends are identified. Future research directions are suggested based on this literature review.

Theoretical and methodological foundations for forensic commodity examination of garment products

The examination of garment products is a popular type of forensic commodity expertise in proceedings related to the protection of the interests of Ukrainian producers, business entities in the sale and rental of garment products, as well as the investigation of offences related to export and import operations.
 Based on the study of the legislative framework for conducting forensic commodity research of garment products, as well as regulatory documents on the methodology for assessing the quality of garments for various purposes, the author states that there is still no unified list of control objects to be studied in the course of garment examination.
 The article is devoted to the problems of methodology for forensic commodity examination of garments. It has been established that the lack of unified terminology causes differences in the interpretation of methodological guidelines for conducting examinations and differences in the interpretation of research results. The fundamental differences between the purpose, composition of materials and market conditions of a particular type of garment can significantly affect the choice of research methods. In this regard, the article considers the nomenclature of objects of forensic commodity examination of garments, which makes it possible to streamline the expert’s actions in accordance with the specifics of the object of study. The nomenclature identifies the following groups of indicators for the examination of garments: compliance of the product and control label details with the requirements of regulatory documentation, correspondence of appearance, adequacy of the type of materials used for sewing the garment, safety of materials, quality of fit of the garment, quality of manufacture of the garment, correspondence of linear measurements to nominal values, and market value of identical (similar) goods.
