Non-Intrusive Techonology to Its for BRT

The Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) is allowing that ubiquitous society use the ITS facilities to conducting their activities, so this research studied the use of LPR (License Plate Recognition) as a tool for ITS BRT operation. The use of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to identify the vehicles will permit to monitoring several items, like: localization of bus, non-authorized vehicles and so on. This research considers the use of existing ITS infrastructure and technology and the main advantage of LPR is the ability to identify vehicles without disrupting the normal flow or even cause a decrease in speed and to be nonintrusive in perspective of vehicles owners.

Artificial Light Driven Power Generation and IoT Device Convergence

This special issue introduces artificial photovoltaic cell technology as a new vision of solar cells that can generate electricity using an indoor lighting source. In particular, organic artificial photocell materials and device technologies are described. Basic driving mechanisms and material-process technology for high-efficiency artificial photovoltaics are introduced; furthermore, actual application research cases, such as wireless IoT sensor driving, are described. Wireless power management technology is very important to establish future social values such as a ubiquitous society and a carbon-neutral society. Instead of placing an object in a place where power can be supplied, power should be supplied by necessity anytime and anywhere, thereby maintaining a more effective global energy balance and rapidly implementing a society with zero carbon emission. If Indoor light sources, which are energy sources that are discarded, pia identification can be used, they can efficiently maximize energy use in architectural spaces such as homes and offices and contribute much in terms of the environment.

IoT to Monitor the BRT Bus

Technological evolutions at Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) is allowing that ubiquitous society use the ITS facilities to conducting their activities. At this scenario the paper presents a study case in order to use ITS technologies applied to conduct his activities, mainly for bus tracking. The study case presented in this paper uses the concept of IoT (Internet of Things) to make the inspection of trucks; all study case considers the use of existing ITS infrastructure, as well as the deployment of new infrastructure. In order to implement the IoT, the study case use the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technologies associated with sensors installed at vehicle in order to identify the vehicle when it pass through a portal and the associated information, if available, as: temperature, average velocity, doors and others relevant information. The advantage of IoT is the ability to identify the vehicles and other information without disrupting the normal flow.

University Virtual Learning in Covid Times

Online training is demanded in the ubiquitous society we live in, and this is especially true if we consider the current situation at universities due to the Government issuing a state of alarm decree which requests all citizens to remain at home. The goal of this study is to determine the opinion of university students from different Spanish campuses on e-learning platforms, by the means of a descriptive and correlational study design, with N = 431. The results reveal that there is still a long road ahead to ensure that these tools work optimally to enable professors to fully exert their teaching profession. We can conclude that the online teaching system needs to be improved regarding the technical service that the university offers.

Keeping High Schools Relevant in a Global, Innovative and Tech Ubiquitous Society

With the onset of COVID-19 and game-changes like ubiquitous technology, artificial intelligence and global economies, public high schools are challenged to provide a new level of education. In order for the United States and other countries to compete on a global scale, school leaders need to reevaluate and redesign educational programs to provide students the exposure and experience needed to become globally competent competitors. This collective case study examined the knowledge of educators ranging from school leaders to teachers in regards to the predicted global megatrends, the future 2030 workforce, game-changing technology and the impact at three public high schools. The study examined how the process of change was implemented, how each school addressed challenges and barriers, and to what degree each school was able to transition to an online environment during the unexpected 2020 COVID-19 shutdown. The study design incorporated a mixed method case study approach. The information collected consisted of school leader and teacher interviews, as well as review of artifacts, documents and data. The researchers concluded that school transformation needs to start with an understanding of the future workforce and potential megatrends. Most importantly, schools must take action regardless of the challenges and barriers before them.

Today the human being assumes a nomadic position in a ubiquitous society. It inhabits at the same time hyperspaces, characterized by the fluidity of communication mediated by emerging technologies of fast connection to the wireless networks, which contribute to interaction between people from both town and the small and little known village, even in the condition of displacement and ubiquity. The communicational ecologies in fluid spaces in hypermobility are a relevant aspect for the pedagogical use of Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT) in Distance Education (DE) since pedagogical actors, although geographically dispersed, can interact with each other. This study focuses mainly on the mapping and description of the pedagogical use of DICTs by the specialized tutors of the courses taught at EaD at the Pedagogical University of Mozambique - Delegation of Niassa (UPNI). For the empirical research, a survey was consciously and voluntarily answered by 30 tutors, 13 of which were from the AMA-Administration and Management Education, 11 from the BE-Basic Education course and 6 from the ET-English Teaching course. Among the participants in the survey half (50%) have between 31 to 40 years old. The results indicate high levels of satisfaction in terms of overcoming digital primary division rates and digital divide characterized by the possession by the subjects of the main computing devices and telecommunications with Internet access, access whose frequency ranges from weekly to daily. Considerable digital literacy was also observed in the use of digital technologies connected to the web through the exploration of software and web services by the participants, indicators evaluated as relevant for the pedagogical use of DICT in courses offered in the modality of Distance Education and more correlated to the cyberculture's time.

Cool governance: Japan’s ubiquitous society, surveillance, and creative industries

ABSTRACTThe rapid reform of the Akihabara district of Tokyo during the first decade of the twenty-first century, in conjunction with the Japanese government’s policy on the global promotion of Cool Japan, has been envisioned under the Japanese government’s new direction of becoming a ‘ubiquitous society’. From the postwar period when Akihabara became the techno-gadgetry hub of Tokyo, into the twenty-first century where it transforms itself into the Mecca of anime and video games, Akihabara has become the embodiment of national hope and technological future. Noticeably, what also implemented alongside this advance of techno-future is a new form of governance and surveillance. After Katō Tomohiro’s murderous rampage in Akihabara in 2008, numerous CCTVs have been installed to secure the neighbourhood from crime and news of this solution became a spectacle in international media. This form of ubiquitous techno-governance integrated as part of everyday life had already been imagined in anime such as Dennō Koiru (Coil A Circle of Children), which broadcast on Japan’s national broadcast station NHK in 2007. In light of the concerted effort of the Japanese government’s promotion of anime to the global consumers seamlessly integrating the urban developmental project of Akihabara, the production of Dennō Koiru at that historical juncture presents a pertinent foreshadowing of Japan’s ‘society of control’. This article will examine the notion of ubiquitous society and surveillance in Dennō Koiru and situate its production against the backdrop of Japan’s growing techno-governance vis-à-vis its creative industries in the twenty-first century.

Evaluation of network service model based on network convergence

Technologies such as Bluetooth, RFID, WiFi, 4G, and the Internet of things are mutually converged with ADSL and fiber to the home network. Users can get information in the forms of word, voice, images, etc. through ubiquitous networks including the fixed telephone, the mobile telephone, the television, the computer, and diversified informational zed terminal equipment. Ubiquity informatization may be the trend of future network development, which is the development direction of the ubiquitous intelligent comprehensive network information society. Its physical representation is the appearance of ubiquitous network or the named universal network. It represents the ubiquitous prosperity that all people, all organizations, and industries can get benefits from the ubiquity informatization. This article studies the internal and external structures of network service model and introduces technology dynamics, demand dynamics, competition, and security as adjustment variables. Then, the evaluation model of network service based on network convergence is proposed and tested. The test results prove the validity of the evaluation model.

Highly Deformable and See-Through Polymer Light-Emitting Diodes with All-Conducting-Polymer Electrodes.

Despite the high expectation of deformable and see-through displays for future ubiquitous society, current light-emitting diodes (LEDs) fail to meet the desired mechanical and optical properties, mainly because of the fragile transparent conducting oxides and opaque metal electrodes. Here, by introducing a highly conductive nanofibrillated conducting polymer (CP) as both deformable transparent anode and cathode, ultraflexible and see-through polymer LEDs (PLEDs) are demonstrated. The CP-based PLEDs exhibit outstanding dual-side light-outcoupling performance with a high optical transmittance of 75% at a wavelength of 550 nm and with an excellent mechanical durability of 9% bending strain. Moreover, the CP-based PLEDs fabricated on 4 µm thick plastic foils with all-solution processing have extremely deformable and foldable light-emitting functionality. This approach is expected to open a new avenue for developing wearable and attachable transparent displays.

Performance evaluation framework design for smart sensor business

RFID is a technology to identify objects such as products and things with radio frequencies, which is recognized as a basic technology to realize ubiquitous society and has attracted significant attention of government, industries, and academic world. In addition, RFID has an enormous ripple effect as a killer application on a variety of business areas including logistics/distribution, military, or food/safety in particular because of a high identification rate, contactless identification media, propagation range, and scalability being able to connect and communicate with other communication networks. But there are insufficient studies of analyzing quantitative effects on economic effectiveness generated after implementing RFIDs through empirical analysis. Therefore, this study analyzed economic effect that can be obtained by implementing RFIDs into companies. Based on the study results, common effects were concentrated on the primary benefit, and the administration and management work had common effects of the third benefit.

Microcontroller Based Automatic Impedance Matching Circuit and its Operation in Wireless Body Area Sensor Network

Background: Wireless body area network (WBAN) including bio-sensor network is expected to be a new communication system in ubiquitous society including medicine or point of care from the view point of easy connection of equipment．In this case, reduction of risk of information leak to a third party through special propagation is necessary. Human body communication (HBC) through the human body is a good solution for this problem. On the other hand, radio frequency (RF) communication should be carried out with a small power from the viewpoint of minimal invasion. Thus, high efficiency signal injection into human body is necessary. This paper provides the RF signal injection method with automatic impedance matching circuit operated by the use of Peripheral Interface Controller (PIC©)) for this purpose. Using TOC to develop U-tourism and to formulate its marketing strategy

The progress of information and telecommunication technology (ICT) has accelerated the arrival of an 'Ubiquitous Society', where information can be received and exchanged anytime and anywhere. The transformation of commerce comes from brick and mortar stores to electronic commerce and to mobile commerce, now we call 'ubiquitous commerce' (U-commerce). U-commerce implies ubiquity, universality, uniqueness and unison, and brings lots of new challenges to marketers. Meanwhile, ICTs also provide new opportunities to tourism industry, and its food and beverage sector. Therefore, this study uses theory of constraint (hereafter TOC) to identify the existing challenges of tourism industry in Taiwan and provide the possible solutions of utilising ICTs properly. Then construct the U-tourism and formulate its corresponding marketing strategies. Hence, the results of this study could be divided into three major parts: 1) identifying tourist's demand and corresponding ICTs by questionnaires; 2) through TOC to map Taiwan's tourism challenges with possible solutions; 3) formulating new marketing strategies for U-tourism with U-space as the infrastructure.

New Key Performance Indicators for a Smart Sustainable City

We propose key performance indicators (KPIs) based on the Gross Social Feel-Good Index to evaluate a smart sustainable city and report the results of a field trial in a city located almost at the center of the Tokyo Metropolitan Area. We developed KPIs based on the following concepts: (1). The triple bottom line is the basic evaluation criteria; (2). The same unit is used for every evaluation criterion; (3). The KPIs can be used to assess a diverse range of smart sustainable cities with different goals. With the proposed KPIs of smart sustainable cities, indicators are divided into four layers for simplicity: the triple bottom line and “satisfaction” lie in the first layer. Since the notion of “society” is broad, it is further split into “safety”, “health”, and “comfort”, which are positioned in the second layer. The third layer includes indicators such as “information security” and “ubiquitous society” from the perspective of information communication technology (ICT). We conducted a trial evaluation by applying the proposed KPIs to individual ICT solutions of “Internet Protocol announcements”, “Wi-Fi around the station” and “information transmission and control” which have already been installed in a smart sustainable city.

Nomadism and intermittent ubiquity in ‘off the grid’ Shuar people

Media ecology suggests that the anyone, anywhere, anytime slogan of the ubiquitous society characterizes our times. A priori, mobile technology in the “digital ecosystem” fits this circumstance. However, if we delocalize to a remote area, this initial assumption changes. Results of a case study analyzing the use and appropriation of mobile phones in the indigenous Amazon Shuar communities show a different reality that could be labeled ‘intermittent ubiquity’. How does the delocalization facilitated by mobile telephones affect a remote area? How do Ecuadorian Shuars appropriate digital mobile technology? How does technological novelty become apparent in a context that is currently ‘off the grid’? These questions drive our interest in examining the three premises of the ubiquitous society slogan in this specific context

A Strong Lightweight Authentication Protocol for Low-cost RFID Systems

RFID is an important technology that can be used to create the ubiquitous society. But an RFID system uses open radio frequency signal to transfer information and this leads to pose many serious threats to its privacy and security. In general, the computing and storage resources in an RFID tag are very limited and this makes it difficult to solve its secure and private problems, especially for low-cost RFID tags. In order to ensure the security and privacy of low-cost RFID systems we propose a lightweight authentication protocol based on Hash function. This protocol can ensure forward security and prevent information leakage, location tracing, eavesdropping, replay attack and spoofing. This protocol completes the strong authentication of the reader to the tag by twice authenticating and it only transfers part information of the encrypted tag’s identifier for each session so it is difficult for an adversary to intercept the whole identifier of a tag. This protocol is simple and it takes less computing and storage resources, it is very suitable to some low-cost RFID systems.

국내 RFID 시장의 확산 분석 및 예측 모형

However, Korea has not seen good success in diffusion of RFID even though Korean government continues funding many projects to diffuse the technology in industries. Most previous researches overestimate the growth of Korean RFID market in contrary to real market situation. This study aims to analyze the Korean RFID market and find a reasonable forecasting model for it. Our experimental results show that Bass forecasting model provides the more realistic estimates than any other models and the analyses of forecasting error provide useful information for the better forecasting. We also observed that government policy plays a crucial role in the diffusion of RFID technology in Korea.
