Evaluation and Supervision of Tutoring Services at Junior High School 7 Malang

Evaluation of the tutoring program is an important part of assessing the extent to which the tutoring program that the BK SMPN 7 Malang teacher provides to students has been implemented. This evaluation aims to determine the suitability of the tutoring program that has been carried out by guidance and counseling teachers at SMPN 7 Malang based on the six standards and criteria for professional counselors set by the Indonesian Guidance and Counseling Association (ABKIN) as an adaptation of the program evaluation set by the South Carolina Guidance and Counseling Program Model. This research uses quantitative methods. The technique used in collecting data uses instruments, which in this research were carried out and shared directly in the form of a Google Form. The instrument used in collecting research data is a tutoring evaluation instrument that has already been used with adjustments made by the current evaluator in an effort to achieve a better tutoring evaluation instrument. The results of the evaluation of basic tutoring services have been implemented fully and entirely, with a percentage of 86.26%.

Analyzing the Impact of the “Double Reduction” Policy on Student Well-Being and Academic Performance in Urban China

The “Double Reduction” policy, introduced in China in 2021, seeks to alleviate academic pressure on students by reducing homework loads and regulating private tutoring services. This study analyzes the policy’s impact on student well-being and academic performance in urban settings, drawing on quantitative and qualitative data from students, parents, teachers, and school administrators. The findings indicate a dual impact: a decrease in stress and anxiety levels and improvements in social behaviors and time management, but also challenges in maintaining academic discipline and performance, particularly among students preparing for high-stakes exams. While the policy promotes a more balanced approach to education, it requires further refinement and adaptive strategies to address diverse student needs effectively. The study concludes that ongoing support and monitoring are essential to achieve the policy’s long-term objectives of reducing stress while ensuring academic excellence.

Keefektifan Layanan Bimbingan Kelompok Teknik Problem Solving untuk Meningkatkan Kemandirian Belajar dalam Menentukan Karir

Group guidance services are one way of providing guidance to students who have certain problems in a group. Group tutoring services can be said to be effective if students can understand and follow the guidance optimally so that they can increase learning independence. Problem solving techniques are techniques for handling difficulties faced by each individual to reduce a person's sense of lack of understanding in order to achieve success. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of problem solving technique group guidance services to increase learning independence in determining a career. The type of research used in this research is experimental research with a true experimental research design. The objects in this research are the experimental class and the control class. The sample used in this research was taken randomly as a control group with a total of 7 students and 7 students as a class. Data collection techniques used in this research include interviews and observations. The research data was analyzed using the Independent Sample T-Test and the N-Gain test on the SPSS 23 application. The research showed that the average Pretest was 129.74 and Posttest was 138.5. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the increase in respondents' scores from pretest to posttest, giving treatment can improve the results of respondents' answers, there is an increase in learning independence in determining a career after being given treatment.

THE INFLUENCE OF GROUP GUIDANCE SERVICES WITH ASSERTIVITY CONTENT ON BULLYING BEHAVIOR IN CLASS X STUDENTS AT SMK NEGERI 3 PANYABUNGAN

<p>This research aims to determine the effect of group tutoring services with assertive content on bullying behavior in class X students at SMK Negeri 3 Panyabungan. The type of research used in this research is experimental research by providing activities to the guidance of the experimental group. The researcher used 10 students as samples in this research. This research uses IBM SPSS Statistics 26. Based on the results of the t test, it can be seen that the significance level is 0.05 with a probability of 1-α and degrees of freedom dk = n-k= 10-1=9, so from the t table we get t = 2.262. Thus tcount>ttable (10.713 > 2.262) or Sig .000 < 0.05. Where the sig (2-tailed) value is smaller than 0.05 so it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Ha was accepted because of the differences between the two tests.</p>

ASSERTIVE TRAINING THROUGH GROUP GUIDANCE TO INCREASE STUDENT RESPONSE IN LEARNING FOR CLASS VIII STUDENTS OF SMP NEGERI 2 MEDANG DERAS

<p>Responding activities are part of the learning process which is included in student learning activities in class. Many students are just silent and inactive during the learning process in class. Regarding the problem of students' low ability to respond in learning, it has a negative impact on lack of understanding and mastery of learning material and has an impact on student learning outcomes which tend to be low. Group guidance in this research is a process of providing assistance to increase all the potential possessed by a number of individuals and to obtain new information that will be discussed. The aim of this research is to determine the application of group tutoring services to increase student responses in learning for class VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Medang Sangat for the 2022/2023 academic year. The objects of this research were 7 students in class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Medangdera who had a tendency to be inactive and did not want to respond to learning. Service implementation is carried out in 2 cycles of group guidance services. The research design in this study is planning, action, observation and reflection. To obtain data and information in this research, observations and interviews were carried out. The data analysis techniques used are data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the data analysis that has been described. It can be concluded that the group guidance service in cycle 1 for students in class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Medang Sangat went well, there were several students who showed changes in responding during learning activities, but had not yet reached the good category, in cycle 2 showed changes in attitudes that were even better in responding during learning activities to teachers and friends. Based on the results of observations and interviews conducted in cycles 1 and 2, the researcher stated that group guidance services could increase students' responses to learning.</p>

The centralization and standardization of student services in Universitas Terbuka

Universitas Terbuka (UT) now a days is applying the centralization and standardization model on its student service management system. Those both administrative and academic services are handled directly by t he Rectorate office and the working units under it. Student administrative services include admission, registration, tutoring the Modul-Base of course subject matter, exam-schedules determination, exam-results announcement, grader-transcripts printing and graduation ceremonies. Academic services involve curriculum establishment, subject course material settlement, tutorial services, remedial teaching, learning assessment, and academic judisium. The objectives of managerial centralization and standardization are at least assuring the achievement of managerial efficiency and effectivity. However, in the practical terms the midle line and operating core bussiness services apperently could not resolve problems in quick and effective manner, when students asked for help due to the problems of delivered administrative and academic services. The research question was "what is the impact of centralized and standardized of student service management system to the UT overall services performance?". The method used was a case-study, and the data were taken through series of document review, observation technique and interviews. The data were analyzed descriptively qualitative using MPFAAC technique. The study concluded that the student service managerial centralization and standardization brought about the inability of the midle line and operating core bussiness services from doing any job creativity, innovation, and responsivity.

Assessment of the Numeracy Tutorial Service of Project KaISIPnayan: Inputs to the Sustainable Extension Program

This study provides an overview of an assessment conducted on the numeracy tutorial service, namely Project KaISIPnayan. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and sustainability of the program, with the objective of enhancing its extension initiatives. By examining the inputs required for a sustainable extension program, this assessment provides valuable insights into the long-term viability and impact of the numeracy tutorial service. The research employs a mixed-methods approach that combines data analysis and qualitative analysis. The quantitative phase entails delivering pre- and post-tests to participants to assess their improvement in mathematics. In addition, the qualitative phase uses an evaluation form to collect feedback on the numeracy tutorial service to gather comprehensive data. The results reveal the strengths and weaknesses of the program, highlighting key areas for improvement. Furthermore, the data imply that Project KaISIPnayan creates a positive attitude toward mathematics and increases learners' confidence in mathematics. The findings emphasize the importance of program design, trained tutors, adequate resource allocation, and collaborative partnerships to ensure sustainability. The assessment contributes to the development of evidence-based strategies for enhancing numeracy tutorial services and provides valuable inputs for sustaining Project KaISIPnayan's extension initiatives. The findings of this study can guide organizations and educational institutions in designing effective and sustainable tutorial programs that promote numeracy skills among students, empowering them for lifelong success.

Transnational juku: Japanese shadow education institutions in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shanghai

Japan has a longstanding history of shadow education, which has evolved, transformed, and extended beyond its borders. Japanese shadow education institutions, known as juku, have expanded worldwide, including in Asia, the US, and Europe, offering offline and online tutoring services mainly for Japanese expatriates. This study examines the role and features of juku, specifically in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. It identifies 20 different juku, analyzes their types, and explains a different type of juku, the “Japanese cultural supplementary school,” that caters to expatriate parents aiming to nurture Japanese culture and traditions in their children. Although the Japanese juku phenomenon has previously attracted the attention of scholars, there is a gap in the literature when it comes to transnational juku and its operation outside Japan. This paper contributes to informing scholars, policymakers, and the public on the transnational movement of shadow education as a global phenomenon.

STRATEGI PENGEMBANGAN BISNIS INDUSTRI JASA BIMBINGAN BELAJAR DENGAN METODE ANALISIS SWOT

Education is the foundation of knowledge for growth and development as a provision for living life. The increasing competition among students for achievement means that students need additional learning through additional tutoring institutions. The growth of additional tutoring institutions is increasingly rapid, making competitiveness even higher. The problem that is often faced in the field is that players in the tutoring services industry must try to stay afloat in the midst of the growing competition in the domestic tutoring business. One of the efforts of tutoring institutions to be successful and successful is by developing a tutoring business. 
 The problem formulation in this research is how to develop a tutoring business. The aim of this research is to develop a tutoring business using the SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, and Threat) analysis method. The results obtained from this research are the appropriate strategy design, namely the implementation of the SO strategy. The conclusion of this research is that SO (Strength Opportunities) strategies that can be implemented are improving the approach to parents of students, commensurate service fees with services, improving fast response services to students' sudden needs, increasing the professionalism of teachers, improving learning program services both online and offline, improving quality books that are easy for students to understand, allocating teachers according to students' needs and improving facilities.

Social Loafing Level of Class X Students at Senior High School 8 Semarang

This research aims to determine the level of social loafing of class X students at SMA N 8 Semarang. Looking at the level of activity of class X students during the process of providing Classical Tutoring services by the guidance and counseling teacher. When the group discussion process took place there were only a few students who were actively discussing. So the researcher feels that there is a need for research regarding the level of social loafing in class X students. This research is quantitative descriptive research. The sampling technique in this research is simple random sampling. The data collection technique uses a questionnaire which contains statements stating the object to be expressed. Data analysis uses descriptive analysis techniques. The results of this research are that the level of social laziness of class X students at SMA Negeri 8 Semarang on average has a moderate level of social loafing.

From the Peripheral to the Transboundary: Documenting the Lived Experiences of Students and Parents with Online Math Tutoring Services

Despite the growing prevalence of tutoring services in Canada, and a corpus of studies focusing on its overall implementation, research on the tutoring experience of Canadian students is lacking. This article reports findings from a study that responds to this gap through interviews with three high school students receiving online tutoring services in math, and two parents of children receiving online tutoring services. Specifically, the study responds to three questions: (1) What are the lived experiences of high school students receiving math tutoring from a private tutoring service in Ontario, Canada?; (2) What are parents’ motives for seeking private tutoring services?; and (3) How do participants perceive the learning taking place in different environments (e.g., tutoring vs. school)? In response to these questions, this article outlines the extent to which student participation in online tutoring demonstrates “transboundary learning”, responding to earlier claims arguing that tutoring services are considered to be more like “peripheral” learning environments as opposed to an important context for student learning. Findings show a distinct shift in the relationship between tutoring and schooling, where learning is more transboundary in nature and boundaries between schooling and tutoring are blurred. Discussion of findings elaborates on evidence of this transformation as aligning with central characteristics of transboundary learning. The increasing role of tutoring in families' learning and schooling experiences could signal the potential for more inequalities in education, which are discussed in detail.

Factors Contributing to Business Failure and Eventual Exit among Selected Tutorial Service Centers

ess failure and exit are concomitants of business discontinuance which must be extensively studied as businesses such as tutorial centers can experience unfavorable events. This paper investigated the internal (i.e., owner/founder orientations) and external (i.e., compliance with government policies) antecedents leading to business failure and the eventual exit in the shadow education industry in 2013, particularly of Philippine privately owned tutorial centers which are divided into non-registered and registered services. Using the multiple case study approach, empirical findings showed that business failure is primarily caused by internal factors specifically the owner/founder orientations, while non-compliance with government regulations is secondary. The owner/founder orientations were comprised of motivation, characteristics/behavior, skill managerial deficiencies, capabilities, and financial knowledge shortcomings. Non-registered tutorial centers asserted that only skill/managerial deficiencies and capabilities lead to failure while registered tutorial services perceived all as reasons for business failure. Not complying with government policies can affect more the registered tutorial services than the non-registered centers. Business exit was chosen by all the owners of tutorial centers as a viable option in case of business failure. Future studies can consider obtaining more participants and comprehensively investigating tutorial centers from different countries to enrich cross-country research in shadow education.

SEM - PLS in the WebQual 4.0 Method for Enhancing the Quality of Online Tutorial Learning Applications at Open Universities

Universitas Terbuka (UT, literally Open University) organizes distance learning through the Online Tutorial (Tuton) service. Tuton is an internet-based tutorial service that can be accessed via the site http://elearning.ut.ac.id by all UT students, including UPBJJ UT Denpasar students. Analysis of the quality of UPBJJ UT Denpasar student tutoring services has never been carried out before. Based on these problems, this research aims to analyze and measure the quality of Tuton application services using WebQual 4.0 dimensions, which are moderated by gender and age variables. This research uses a quantitative method approach to student satisfaction data from the UT UPBJJ Denpasar Management Study Program, who have used the Tuton application for more than three semesters. Data analysis techniques using the SEM–PLS method. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that there was a positive influence between the usability variable, the service interaction quality variable, and the Information Quality variable on the user satisfaction variable. The gender moderating variable can act as pure moderation on the service interaction quality and Information Quality variables. Meanwhile, the age variable is a potential moderator of the three variables. From these results, it can be concluded that the service quality of the Tuton application shows a robust model on the Webqual Method indicators for user satisfaction variables, and this application is beneficial and in accordance with student needs. The learning support aspects still need to be improved, especially the speed of response time and the accuracy of the tutorial services provided by tutors.

Face-to-face and e-learning during the COVID-19 pandemic: A Pakistani dental undergraduates perspective.

Globally, educational institutes have been obliged to make a quick transition from traditional face-to-face teaching to e-learning during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, which has purportedly created various barriers to achieving desired learning outcomes. The aim of our study was to assess the perceptions of undergraduate dental students regarding online and physical learning in Pakistan. This cross-sectional study was conducted from January to March 2022. The study comprised dental students from 1st to 4th years who were above the age of 18 and of either gender. The Google Forms questionnaire was created to evaluate the quality and efficiency of online and physical learning among dentistry undergraduates. In a survey of 246 students, 70.3% strongly agreed that they would prefer face-to-face instruction over e-learning. There was a statistically significant difference in the improvement of students' technical skills (p = 0.01), accessibility to instructors (p = 0.01) and classmates (p = 0.02), value of technology (p = 0.03), improvement of oral communication skills (p = 0.01), promotion of hybrid model learning after the pandemic (p = 0.01), and utilization of tutorial services (p = 0.04) between different year of study. Pakistani dental students indicated satisfaction with numerous aspects of e-learning, such as technical skills, accessibility to instructors and classmates, the value of technology, improvement of oral communication skills, promotion of hybrid model learning, and utilization of tutorial services compared to face-to-face education concerning the year of study.

Pelaksanaan Layanan Bimbingan Klasikal untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Bijak Bersosial Media pada Siswa di SMP N 7 Bukittinggi

This research was motivated by the fact that students were still found to be less wise in using social media in their daily lives. For example, there are still students who spend a lot of time playing on social media, there are still students who make unfavorable comments on social media, and there are still students who make negative posts. This research aims to: (1) determine the level of student policy regarding social media (2) determine the level of student social media policy before being given classical guidance services. (3) find out whether or not classical guidance services are effective in increasing students' social media skills. This type of research is Pre-Experimental Design using the One Group Pretest-Posttest model. The population in this study was class VIII.2. The sample for this research was 27 people taken using a total sampling technique, which means that the entire population was the sample for the research. Data was collected using a scale for developing wise social media skills. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used was the Wilcoxon test. The results of the research show that: (1) the wise description of students' social media before being given classical guidance services is in the medium category with a mean of 27.41. (2) after being given classical guidance services, they are in the medium category with an increasing score with a mean of 34.56. (3) classical tutoring services are effective in increasing students' social media skills. This statement is supported by the asymp sig (2-tailed) results, which obtained a value of 0.000, which means it is smaller than the α value of 0.05. So it can be said that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected, meaning that classical guidance is effective in improving the social media skills of students at SMP N 7 Bukittinggi.

Improve English Learning through Artificial Intelligence for Online and Offline Mixed Teaching Path

With the development of higher education in China, English has been listed as a compulsory course in basic education, and people’s demand for English teaching level is also increasing. However, with the advent of the information age, there have been significant changes in the dissemination of knowledge, teaching methods, and teaching environment. Traditional English teaching models can no longer meet the requirements of modern society for versatile talents. Therefore, exploring the mixed online and offline English teaching path has become particularly important. Artificial intelligence (AI) is an advanced technology today. It can evaluate students’ pronunciation and provide corresponding guidance, thereby increasing students’ interest in English and improving English pronunciation accuracy. It can also provide personalized learning content and learning paths according to students' learning needs and levels. By analyzing students' learning situation and feedback, it automatically adjusts and optimizes learning resources so that students can better master English knowledge and skills. The traditional English teaching model is often limited by time and space, while the AI-based hybrid teaching model can integrate a variety of educational resources around the world, including high-quality course content, learning resources and online tutoring services, so that students can get the most suitable educational resources anytime and anywhere, which can improve learning efficiency.

Inequality and deprivation in an affluent community: A case study of the livelihood of low-income households in Central and Western District, Hong Kong

The Central and Western District (C&W District) of Hong Kong is often associated with prosperity. However, some families in the C&W District, like those in other areas of Hong Kong, face poverty and deprivation. This study implemented purposive sampling and the constructivist grounded theory to investigate the perceptions of and daily challenges faced by underprivileged residents and community stakeholders in the district. This study conducted individual or small group in-depth interviews with 40 residents in 2019. The results revealed that unaffordable housing and poor living environments impeded family cohesiveness. Young people lacked sufficient academic support. Under the government's latest policy direction of “targeted poverty alleviation”, this study recommends that government departments and relevant social stakeholders proactively explore the development of social housing in the district. In addition, community volunteers with English proficiency and other professional skills should be recruited to offer free or affordable tutoring services for underprivileged students.

College Students Expectation Toward Tutor in Distance Education

Teacher performance will affect students' endurance, motivation, and spirit during learning. Someone's competence to become a teacher/Tutor is no longer enough by only mastering teaching materials, especially for tutors whose role is more as a facilitator. The purpose of this research is to find out the expectations of college students toward tutors in distance education. This research is qualitative by using a survey method. The aspect measured used an instrument of the Likert scale and then analyzed by using descriptive statistics. Key findings highlight that students recognize the importance of tutors' skills and appreciate the benefits of guided tutorials. There is a notable expectation among students for tutors and the Universitas Terbuka (UT) units to collaborate effectively to enhance tutorial services, which are integral to the learning structure in distance education. The results indicate a positive correlation between the tutors' abilities and the provision of efficient and effective learning support. Students' understanding of tutors' skills, their perception of the benefits of guided tutorials, and their internal consistency in evaluating tutor performance during tutorials are collectively rated as 'good'. This reflects the tutors' successful efforts in assisting students to become independent learners who are self-motivated and actively engaged in the learning process. The study underscores the need for focused tutor training programs aimed at developing competencies that align with students' expectations and the demands of distance education.

Digital Transformation for the Future of Education: Community Service in Website Design Company Profile Tutoring Institution Scholastica Education Center (SEC)

This community service project explores the growing and crucial role of tutoring institutions (Bimbel) in providing important academic support to students in need. Traditionally, tutoring has been conducted in physical settings, involving face-to-face interactions between students and teachers. However, with the rapid advancement of technology and the soaring popularity of the internet, online tutoring has witnessed a tremendous surge in demand, becoming easily accessible and highly sought after. The Scholastica Education Center (SEC) located in Larantuka, East Flores, NTT, recognizes the importance of following technological advances and using them to increase access to education for children throughout Indonesia. Through these community service initiatives, SEC is wholeheartedly dedicated to making the most impactful contribution to the education sector, catering to the diverse needs and academic levels of its students. An integral aspect of promoting online learning programs is the role of official websites. As a result, Servants designed and launched a company profile website for the SEC, leveraging cutting-edge web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and Javascript. The implementation of this website aims to increase SEC's reach to its target audience, effectively disseminate information about their online tutoring services and programs, and provide an interactive and enriching learning experience for all students. The overall goal of this community service project is to generate a positive and transformative impact by improving the overall quality of education in Indonesia. The seamless integration of technology and the ease of access to learning through online tutoring offered by leading institutions such as the Scholastica Education Center actively contribute to the educational progress and holistic success of students.
