Blockchain Enabled Trust-Based Location Privacy Protection Scheme in VANET

While enjoying the convenience brought by Location Based Service (LBS), the location privacy of vehicles in VANET may be disclosed. Distributed k -anonymity, as one of the most popular privacy protection methods, fails to take the trustworthiness of participants into account, resulting in malicious tracing of vehicles, which further leads to the sensitive information leakage, and even the safety threat of personal property. To address this issue, we propose a blockchain enabled trust-based location privacy protection scheme in VANET. Specifically, by analyzing the different requirements of the request vehicle and the cooperative vehicle during the process of constructing the anonymous cloaking region, as well as combining the characteristics of these two roles, we devise the trust management method based on Dirichlet distribution , such that both the requester and the cooperator will only cooperate with the vehicles they trust. Moreover, by employing blockchain, we also proposed the data structure to record the trustworthiness of vehicles on publicly available blocks timely, so that any vehicle can access the historical trust information of counterparties whenever necessary. Finally, the construction process of anonymous cloaking region is presented. Security analysis and extensive experiments indicate that the proposal is resilient to various trust model attacks, it can effectively detect the malicious vehicles, and preserve the location privacy of vehicles in the anonymous cloaking region construction, while the required time delay is limited.

Improving Trustworthiness in E-Market Using Attack Resilient Reputation Modeling

Asymmetric information is a major problem in e-commerce transactions as it gives rise to adverse selection and moral hazard problems. Reputation mechanisms provide a solution to this problem by discouraging fraudulent behavior and encouraging honest behavior of participants in the uncertain and un-trusted environment of e-market. This paper discusses trust and reputation relationships, and highlights the importance of key reputation building parameters to enhance trustworthiness of participants. Finally, it proposes reputation metrics that guard reputation systems from various attacks by malicious participants to improve the quality of e-market and presents a working prototype.

An authentication logic with formal semantics supporting synchronization, revocation, and recency

Distributed systems inherently involve dynamic changes to the value of security-relevant attributes such as the goodness of encryption keys, trustworthiness of participants, and synchronization between principals. Since concurrent knowledge is usually infeasible or impractical, it is often necessary for the participants of distributed protocols to determine and act on beliefs that may not be supported by the current state of the system. Policies for determining beliefs in such situations can range from extremely conservative, such as only believing statements if they are very recent, to extremely optimistic, such as believing all statements that are not yet known to be revoked. Such security policies often are heavily dependent on timing of received messages and on synchronization between principals. We present a logic for analyzing cryptographic protocols that has the capability to specify time and synchronization details. This capability considerably advances the scope of known techniques both for expressing practical authentication policies of protocol participants as constraints and for reasoning about protocol goals subject to these constraints.
