Analysis of transverse momentum spectra of protons, deuterons, and tritons in symmetric heavy-ion collisions at √(s_NN ) = 200 GeV at the RHIC

Abstract The blast wave model with Tsallis statistics is used to analyze the transverse momentum spectra of the protons (p), deuteron (d), and triton (t) in √(s_NN ) = 200 GeV gold-gold (Au-Au) collisions at RHIC in various centrality bins. In particular transverse momentum ranges, model results closely match experimental data from the PHENIX (p) and STAR (d and t) Collaborations. The data is compared with protons obtained in Cu+Cu collisions and deuteron and triton in Ru+Ru collisions at 200 GeV, center of mass energy from STAR collaboration. Particle spectra are used to derive the kinetic freeze-out temperatures, transverse flow velocities, and freeze-out volumes. According to the findings, the kinetic freeze-out temperature rises as one goes from the central to peripheral collisions. In this transition, the transverse flow velocity and the freeze-out volume both drop. In the collisions of both Collaborations, this work reveals mass-dependent kinetic freeze-out temperature and differential volume possibilities. On the whole, the non-extensivity parameter q decreases with increasing centrality of the studied heavy-ion collisions, and heavier mass particles have smaller values of q, which implies higher degrees of thermalization and equilibrium in more central collisions and for heavier particles.

Effects of thermal string fragmentation in inelastic pp collisions at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron with beam momenta from 20 to 158 GeV/ c

The proton stopping behavior in proton-proton ($\mathit{pp}$) collisions at beam momentum of 20, 31, 40, 80, 158 GeV/$c$ suggests that more physics mechanisms are at play than traditionally assumed in Monte Carlo event generators. It is shown that the thermal string fragmentation model of pythia 8.303 is able to provide a good description of the observables in inelastic $\mathit{pp}$ collisions such as the rapidity and transverse momentum spectra of protons, charged pions, and charged kaons at the whole CERN SPS energies.

Collision centrality and system size dependences of light nuclei production via dynamical coalescence mechanism

Light (anti-)nuclei in relativistic heavy-ion collisions are considered to be formed by the coalescence mechanism of (anti-)nucleons in the present work. Using a dynamical phase-space coalescence model coupled with a multi-phase transport (AMPT) model, we explore the formation of light clusters such as deuteron, triton and their anti-particles in different centralities for $^{197}$Au + $^{197}$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 39$ GeV. The calculated transverse momentum spectra of protons, deuterons, and tritons are comparable to those of experimental data from the RHIC-STAR collaboration. Both coalescence parameters $B_{2}$ for (anti-)deuteron and $B_{3}$ for triton increase with the transverse momentum as well as the collision centrality, and they are comparable with the measured values in experiments. The effect of system size on the production of light nuclei is also investigated by $^{10}$B + $^{10}$B, $^{16}$O + $^{16}$O, $^{40}$Ca + $^{40}$Ca, and $^{197}$Au + $^{197}$Au systems in central collisions. The results show that yields of light nuclei increase with system size, while the values of coalescence parameters present an opposite trend. It is interesting to see that the system size, as well as the centrality dependence of $B_A$ ($A$ = 2, 3), falls into the same group, which further demonstrates production probability of light nuclei is proportional to the size of the fireball. Furthermore, we compare our coalescence results with other models, such as the thermal model and analytic coalescence model, it seems that the description of light nuclei production is consistent with each other.

Analysis of Spectral Temperature of Participant Protons in p + 12C Interactions at 4.2 GeV/c Using UrQMD Model

The transverse momentum spectra of protons participated in the collision processes calculated using UrQMD model simulations have been compared with the pT spectra of participant protons, obtained experimentally in interactions of protons beam with carbon nuclei at momenta of 4.2 GeV/c. Spectral temperatures of participant protons obtained in the experimental and UrQMD model simulated interactions of protons beam with carbon nuclei have been calculated by fitting both spectra with four different fitting functions i.e. Hagedorn Thermodynamic, Boltzmann distribution, Gaussian and exponential functions. These functions are used commonly for describing the hadrons spectra and their spectral temperatures. The most suitable fitting functions among these four functions have also been recommended.

Transverse momentum spectra and nuclear modification factors of identified charged hadrons in p-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV with ALICE

The ALICE experiment has measured the production of identified light-flavour hadrons in p-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions at 5.02 TeV in a wide range of transverse momentum. The newest ALICE results on pion, kaon and proton transverse momentum spectra, yield ratios and nuclear modification factors will be presented and discussed in comparison to lower energy results. In particular, the production of identified hadrons in most central Pb-Pb collisions relative to pp collisions is found to be strongly suppressed at high transverse momenta (pT > 8 GeV/c) whereas in p-Pb collisions the nuclear modification factors are consistent with unity. This indicates that the strong suppression of high-pT hadrons measured in central Pb-Pb collisions is not due to an initial state effect but instead to the energy loss of partons traversing a hot and dense QCD medium.

Transverse momentum distributions of baryons at LHC energies

Transverse momentum spectra of protons and anti-protons from RHIC (s=62 and 200 GeV) and LHC experiments (s=0.9 and 7 TeV) have been considered. The data are fitted in the low pT region with the universal formula that includes the value of exponent slope as main parameter. It is seen that the slope of low pT distributions is changing with energy. This effect impacts on the energy dependence of average transverse momenta, which behaves approximately as s0.06 that is similar to the previously observed behavior of Λ-baryon spectra. In addition, the available data on Λc production from LHCb at s=7 TeV were also studied. The estimated average <pT> is bigger than this value for protons proportionally to masses. The preliminary dependence of hadron average transverse momenta on their masses at LHC energy is presented.

Systematic parameter study of hadron spectra and elliptic flow from viscous hydrodynamic simulations of Au+Au collisions atsNN=200GeV

Using the (2+1)-dimensional viscous hydrodynamic code VISH2+1, we present systematic studies of the dependence of pion and proton transverse momentum spectra and their elliptic flow in 200 A GeV Au+Au collisions on the parameters of the hydrodynamic model (thermalization time, initial entropy density distribution, decoupling temperature, equation of state, and specific shear viscosity eta/s). We identify a tension between the slope of the proton spectra, which (within hydrodynamic simulations that assume a constant shear viscosity to entropy density ratio) prefer larger eta/s values, and the slope of the p_T-dependence of charged hadron elliptic flow, which prefers smaller values of eta/s. Changing other model parameters does not appear to permit dissolution of this tension

Nuclear stopping and rapidity loss in [formula omitted] collisions at [formula omitted

Transverse momentum spectra of protons and anti-protons measured in the rapidity range 0<y<3.1 from 0–10% central Au+Au collisions at sNN=62.4 GeV are presented. The rapidity densities, dN/dy, of protons, anti-protons and net-protons (Np–Np¯) have been deduced from the spectra over a rapidity range wide enough to observe the expected maximum net-baryon density. From mid-rapidity to y=1 the net-proton yield is roughly constant (dN/dy∼10), but rises to dN/dy∼25 at 2.3<y<3.1. The mean rapidity loss is 2.01±0.14±0.12 units from beam rapidity. The measured rapidity distributions are compared to model predictions. Systematics of net-baryon distributions and rapidity loss vs. collision energy are discussed.

Pion, kaon and (anti-)proton production in Au+Au collisions at

We report on preliminary results of pion, kaon and (anti-)proton transverse momentum spectra (−0.5 < y < 0) in Au+Au collisions at using the STAR detector at RHIC. The particle identification (PID) is achieved by a combination of the STAR TPC and the new TOF detectors, which allow a PID coverage in transverse momentum (pT) up to 7 GeV/c for pions, 3 GeV/c for kaons and 5 GeV/c for (anti-)protons.

Centrality dependence of pion and proton spectra in C+C and C+Ta interactions at 4.2 GeV/c per nucleon.

Target and centrality dependence of pion and proton distributions is studied in C+C and C+Ta collisions at 4.2 GeV/c per nucleon using the 2-m propane bubble chamber. The experimental data are compared with the predictions of the Monte Carlo quark-gluon string model (QGSM). The pion and proton transverse momentum spectra at midrapidity are well described by the two-component thermal model. The shape of the proton rapidity distribution strongly depends on the collision centrality and reflects the stopping power of colliding nuclei. The pion rapidity distribution is Gaussian in shape regardless of the target mass number and collision centrality. The QGSM completely reproduces main features of pion and proton rapidity spectra as well as pion transverse momentum spectra. The model does not fully reproduce the features of the proton transverse momentum spectra.
