Abstract This study proposes a new structure based on a grating with magneto-optical properties and a layer of transition metals (platinum, silver, copper, gold, and palladium). The research aims to investigate the impact of surface plasmon polaritons on enhancing the transverse magneto-optical Kerr effect when exposed to TM- and TE-polarized waves. After optimizing the structure’s dimensions, it was determined that the transition metal layer should have a thickness of 20 nm. The study involves applying TM- and TE-polarized light to the structure to observe variations in reflected light and the transverse magneto-optical Kerr effect. The findings reveal that the gyro-electric magneto-optics material responds to TMpolarized waves, and silver and gold are identified as the most effective metals for the proposed structure.
