Text messaging intervention for Pap smear uptake: a single-institution study.

Cervical cancer continues to be one of the leading causes of death among women in many parts of the world. With the increasing proliferation of mobile technology, text messaging interventions have been effective in improving Pap smear uptake in non-United States populations. This study evaluated whether text message reminders from a health system in Galveston, Texas, USA increased uptake of cervical cancer screening as compared to usual care. A single text message reminder was sent to 16,002 unique patient phone numbers using the Televox Communication Program from February 20, 2019, to April 4, 2019. The institution's population health database was subsequently used to determine if patients received cervical cancer screening (Pap smear) following the text message transmission. Patient demographics within text message and control groups were compared using Chi-square tests. Our text messaging intervention to improve Pap smear rates did not show a statistically significant difference between the intervention group receiving a text message and the control. However, there were significant interactions between text messages and age, financial class, and county (P=0.0023, 0.0299, and <0.0001, respectively). Text messaging did have a positive impact on our most vulnerable patient populations given that the text messaging intervention showed a marginally higher rate of Pap smear among Medicaid and low-income/uninsured (MLIU) patients. Text messaging interventions do have effectiveness in increasing Pap smear uptake in populations which are most impacted by health disparities.

The impact of Allergan implant-related issues on patients with breast implants for reconstruction

Background In August 2019, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons confirmed the first case report of breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) in Korea and provided recommendations. This study was conducted to evaluate the impact of the first case report of BIA-ALCL on patients and whether the impact could be mitigated through expert recommendations.Methods A retrospective chart review was performed of patients who underwent implant-based breast reconstruction using Biocell textured breast implants at Soonchunhyang University Hospital. After the first case report of BIA-ALCL and informing the patients via text messages, the pattern of outpatient visits and the proportion and indications of outpatient office visitors who received reoperations were analyzed.Results After the first BIA-ALCL case report in Korea, 12 patients underwent reoperations due to other complications identified incidentally, while only three patients underwent prophylactic surgery. Among the patients who underwent reoperation after the Allergan issues, 76.7% received implant exchange. There was no significant difference in the proportion of reoperation types before and after the Allergan issues and the transmission of text messages (P=0.700).Conclusions Despite the major issues, outpatients were managed successfully according to our recommendations. The study found a low rate of regular outpatient visits; however, our efforts increased this rate. Therefore, methods for appropriate information delivery are needed for outpatient visits, as well as a system for regular monitoring. As experts, plastic surgeons should provide responsible leadership in this situation to relieve patients’ concerns.

Design and Analysis of Session Initial Protocol Communication System Using Kamailio Server Based on Open Source at the Airport

The need for telecommunication in this era is very important and increasing. Including communication that uses digital data such as VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). One of the SIP servers (Session Initials Protocol) that worked well is the Kamailio server. It’s operating on an open-source and operating on the Linux system. The SIP communication system at the airport designed on this research uses Kamailio as SIP server. The goal is to make communication easier at the airport by using existing network facilities such as wi-fi. The quality of service parameters (QoS) of this study is a delay, throughput, and packet loss on the transmission of text messages, voices, and videos. Results obtained indicate the good value of that communication standard. 114 with 86.62 ms delay parameters for text, 110.10 ms for votes, and 127.52 ms for the video. The throughput shows the average varies with 330 kbps, 45.71 kbps, and 72.3 kbps according to the type of communication. The zero-percent value of packet loss shows all communication on this system is sent to the user in real-time. In this study, it can be concluded that the Kamailio server can be used as a SIP-based communication system at the airport. Testing shows good results on QoS text messages, voice calls, and video calls.

Distance education stimulates the development of the students’ value orientation, determines the direction of personality development training, opens up new opportunities for progress, exchange the education and training, promotion the successful intercultural communication. The interactive capacity of distance learning lies in providing an intensive process of communication with remote communication partners based on the text. Provided that communication means the exchange of information in a foreign language, then the transmission of text messages is the most meaningful form of information transfer. The idea that the perception of text messages in remote communication is an adequate form of information transfer is substantiated. The role of intellectual activity and production is increasing in the modern context of higher education globalization. The main value is the information itself and the ability to apply it. Distance learning occupies an important place in the process of specialists’ professional development. The author characterizes the reading skill both from the learning speed of implementation standpoint, and the standpoint focused on achieving and understanding the linguistic representation. The process of communicative competence creation, based on the skills of reading in the context of distance learning special features’ development is discussed.

Alarm System based on GSM Network and FPGA using NIOS II Embedded Processor

The present work describes how to carry out a text message transmission in a communication system based on GSM network using a NIOS II processor programmed into an FPGA with the objective of controlling a system alarm remotely. A processor interconnects a bus system with electronics components, such as memories and peripherals, integrating them into a chip to demonstrate the potential applications using both wireless technology and embedded processor through a communication module deployed into an educational board for either commercial or academic uses. The implementation of the communication system proposal was through Intel Platform Designer, Intel Quartus Prime, and NIOS II.

Gaussian channel transmission of images and audio files using cryptcoding

Random codes based on quasigroups (RCBQ) are cryptcodes, i.e. they are error-correcting codes, which provide information security. Cut-Decoding and 4-Sets-Cut-Decoding algorithms for these codes are defined elsewhere. Also, the performance of these codes for the transmission of text messages is investigated elsewhere. In this study, the authors investigate the RCBQ's performance with Cut-Decoding and 4-Sets-Cut-Decoding algorithms for transmission of images and audio files through a Gaussian channel. They compare experimental results for both coding/decoding algorithms and for different values of signal-to-noise ratio. In all experiments, the differences between the transmitted and decoded image or audio file are considered. Experimentally obtained values for bit-error rate and packet error rate and the decoding speed of both algorithms are compared. Also, two filters for enhancing the quality of the images decoded using RCBQ are proposed.

Performance Evaluation of Encrypted Text Message Transmission in 5G Compatible Frequency-domain Subband Superposed Scheme Implemented MIMO OFDM Wireless Communication System

In this paper, an investigative study has been made on the performance evaluation of encrypted text message transmission in 5G compatible multiuser frequency-domain subband superposed (FDSS) scheme implemented MIMO OFDM wireless communication system. The 2×2 multiantenna configured simulated system under consideration incorporates modern channel coding (LDPC and Repeat and Accumulate (RA)) and signal detection (Cholesky decomposition based ZF detection, Group Detection (GD) approach aided Efficient Zero-Forcing (ZF) and Lanczos method based efficient signal detection) techniques. In the scenario of transmitting encrypted text message over AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels, it is noticeable that implementation of Repeat and Accumulate channel coding and Group Detection (GD) approach aided Efficient Zero- Forcing (ZF) signal detection techniques is very much robust and effective in retrieving transmitted text messages for all users.

AITSteg: An Innovative Text Steganography Technique for Hidden Transmission of Text Message via Social Media

With the popularity of smartphones and widespread use of high-speed Internet, social media has become a vital part of people’s daily life. Currently, text messages are used in many applications, such as mobile chatting, mobile banking, and mobile commerce. However, when we send a text message via short message service (SMS) or social media, the information contained in the text message transmits as a plain text, which exposes it to attacks. In some cases, this information may be confidential, such as banking credentials, secret missions, and confidential appointments; moreover, it is a major drawback to send such information via SMS or social media, as neither provides security before transmission. In this paper, we propose a novel text steganography technique called AITSteg, which provides end-to-end security during the transmission of text messages via SMS or social media between end users. The AITSteg technique is evaluated by considering a trusted scenario. We then evaluate the efficiency of the proposed technique in terms of embedding capacity, invisibility, robustness, and security. The experiments confirm that the AITSteg is able to prevent various attacks, including man-in-the-middle attacks, message disclosure, and manipulation by readers. Moreover, we compare the experimental results with the existing techniques to show the superiority of the proposed technique. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first text steganography technique that provides end-to-end secure transmission of the text message using symmetric keys via social media.

The Development of a Local Area Network Communication Software Based on Peer-to-Peer Mode

Compared with traditional client/server modes, peer-to-peer (P2P) mode has obvious advantages in eliminating the performance bottleneck of server and enhancing the utilization rate of network resources. Based on P2P technology, local area network (LAN) communication software was well designed in this paper. By using the support function of Java for multithreading technology and socket technology, P2P mode was adopted to realize various communication functions, such as LAN text message transmission, file transfer and voice transmission. Though processing multicast messages, the software can detect the login and logout status of LAN users. Proved by testing, this software can operate stably in a system environment installed with Java Virtual Machine (JVM).

Investigation of Correlated Rayleigh Fading Channel with Alamouti’s STBC-MRC system

The effect of antenna diversity for a double transmit and multiple receive antenna supported wireless communication system is investigated, that employs multi user Alamouti’s space time block coding (STBC) and maximal ratio combining (MRC) scheme on secured text message transmission. The FEC encoded Alamouti’s-MRC transmission system under investigation implements RSA cryptographic algorithm and deploys various multi-level digital modulations (16-PSK and 16-QAM) techniques over an Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) and Correlated Rayleigh Fading Channels. Rayleigh channel correlation parameter ρ is varied from 0 to 0.9. It has been observed from the study that in case of without receive antenna diversity the system shows comparatively worst performance in 16PSK scheme and satisfactory performance in 16-QAM for the correlation parameter ρ=0.9. It can also be seen that the system performance is improved with increase in number of receive antenna. The performance analysis shows that with implemented Alamouti’s-MRC scheme under 16-QAM digital modulation, the system provides excellent performance over a significantly low signal to noise ratio (SNR) values.

Secure text message transmission in a 4G compatible MIMO MCCDMA system with combined implementation of Vigenere Cipher and RSA cryptographic algorithm

In this paper, a comprehensive performance evaluative study has been made on a secured MIMO MCCDMA wireless communication system with implementation of Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) and Zero- Forcing (ZF) Linear channel equalization schemes. The 4G compatible system deploys two channel encoding schemes(1/2-rated Convolutional and CRC ) under BPSK,DPSK QPSK and QAM digital modulations. In the present simulated system, a text message transmission has been secured with concatenated implementation of Vigenere Cipher and RSA cryptographic algorithm. It is anticipated from the numerical results that with MMSE channel equalization and 1/2-rated Convolutional channel Encoding schemes, the MIMO MCCDMA system outperforms in BPSK digital modulation under AWGN and Raleigh fading channels. In CRC channel coding, the system shows comparatively worst performance in higher Signal to Noise ratio(SNR) values under DPSK, QPSK and QAM digital modulations. It has been observed from the present study that the system performance deteriorates with increase in noise power as compared to signal power .

In this paper, we made a comprehensive performance evaluative study of a secured MIMO Orthogonal FrequencyDivision Multiplexing wireless communication system with implementation of two pre channel equalization techniques such as Pre-Minimum Mean Square Error (Pre-MMSE) and Pre-Zero Forcing (Pre-ZF) under QPSK and QAM digital modulations. The simulated system deploys three channel coding techniques (1/2-rated Convolutional, CRC and BCH). In the present simulated system, text message transmission has been secured with concatenated implementation of Electronic Codebook (ECB) and Cipher Feedback (CFB) cryptographic algorithm. It is anticipated from the numerical results that the pre-ZF channel equalization based MIMO OFDM wireless communication system outperforms in QAM digital modulation and BCH channel coding under AWGN and Raleigh fading channels .In Pre-MMSE/pre-ZF channel equalization scheme, the system shows comparatively worst performance in convolutional channel coding scheme with QAM/QPSK digital modulation. It has been observed from the present study that the system performance deteriorates with increase in noise power as compared to signal power.

Encrypted message transmission in a QO-STBC encoded MISO wireless Communication system under implementation of low complexity ML decoding algorithm

In this paper, we made a comprehensive BER simulation study of a quasi- orthogonal space time block encoded (QO-STBC) multiple-input single output(MISO) system. The communication system under investigation has incorporated four digital modulations (QPSK, QAM, 16PSK and 16QAM) over an Additative White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) and Raleigh fading channels for three transmit and one receive antennas. In its FEC channel coding section, three schemes such as Cyclic, Reed-Solomon and ½-rated convolutionally encoding have been used. Under implementation of merely low complexity ML decoding based channel estimation and RSA cryptographic encoding /decoding algorithms, it is observable from conducted simulation test on encrypted text message transmission that the communication system with QAM digital modulation and ½-rated convolutionally encoding techniques is highly effective to combat inherent interferences under Raleigh fading and additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channels. It is also noticeable from the study that the retrieving performance of the communication system degrades with the lowering of the signal to noise ratio (SNR) and increasing in order of modulation.

Performance Analysis of a Concatenated LDPC Coded Alamouti-Based STBC-OFDM System on Text Message Transmission

This paper investigates the impact of concatenation of an interleaved low density parity check (LDPC) code with convolutional channel coding on the performance of the space time block coded (STBC) orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) wireless communication system on text message transmission. The concatenated channel encoded OFDM system deploys various digital modulations (BPSK, QPSK and QAM) over an additative white gaussian noise (AWGN) and other fading (Raleigh and Rician) channels. Computer simulation results on bit error rate (BER) demonstrate that the 1/2-rated convolutional and LDPC channel encoded OFDM system outperforms with BPSK modulation technique as compared to other digital modulation schemes and the system is highly effective to combat inherent interferences under AWGN, Rayleigh and Rician fading channels. The BER performance of the concatenated channel encoded OFDM system with 1/2-rated channel coding is better as compared to 3/4rated channel coding. The transmitted text message is found to have retrieved effectively under noisy and fading situations. It is anticipated from the BER simulations that the performance of the communication system degrades with the increase of noise power.
