The Inheritance Dilemma and Development of Contemporary Qiang Embroidery

Qiang embroidery is one of the important carriers of Qiang history and culture and was listed on the national intangible cultural heritage list in 2008. With the gradual advancement of urbanization, industrialization, and marketization, the traditional handicraft industry is facing a crisis of transformation. Qiang embroidery was also severely impacted by the Wenchuan earthquake, making its study and protection imperative. Through field investigations in Wenchuan County, where the Qiang ethnic group is concentrated, it was found that although Qiang embroidery has received some protection from the local government, it faces practical difficulties such as a lack of inheritors, weak craft innovation capabilities, and gradual neglect in daily life. Qiang embroidery needs to seize opportunities in the current tourism boom, cultivate more outstanding inheritors, and integrate with modern clothing design, artistic aesthetics, and other fields. This approach will help explore a new development path for Qiang embroidery that combines practicality, artistry, and cultural industry value.

Globalization and Diversification of Interior Decoration Styles and Their Impact on Pakistani Handicrafts

With the gradual advancement of globalization, cultural values and traditional decorative practices as well as people’s lifestyles have changed through digital awareness. This has seriously affected the interior decoration industry and brought challenges to the local handicraft industry. Pakistan’s traditional handicraft is famous in the world, but the flow of imported machine-made products in Pakistan has led to a decline of Pakistan’s handicraft industry. This research investigated which factors are involved in home decoration and to see if these factors are advantageous for the handicraft industry or not. The use of handicraft decoration objects varies among people when they design their houses. Thus, study conducted a survey, which found several factors that Pakistani people emphasize in relation to home decoration. Currently, these factors do not benefit the handicraft industry as people pursue a modern lifestyle and they consider handicraft objects without innovation and design outdated. Interior decoration is seen as a major aspect of traditional Pakistani life and culture, with distinct cultural characteristics. Inspired by the latest way of thinking, an interior design first exists as a concept and is then realized through careful planning. It is meant to evoke a specific mood through the strategic use of color, space, and style. In Pakistan, home accessories are generally and strongly influenced by the current fashion in the end market, with many changes brought about by consumers’ purchasing patterns, designers’ and decorators’ styles, and economic conditions. Keeping up with constantly changing trends is the main challenge faced by the traditional handicraft industry sector. In many cases, craftspeople are disconnected from the end market, which is a challenge for them to be able to profit from their work.

After consulting the reasons for the decline of the traditional handicraft industry and the reasons for the turmoil caused by modern technology, this paper conducts a combined design of artificial intelligence technology, wireless communication technology, and cosmetic packaging and then performs wireless communication and artificial intelligence on the cutting of traditional paper design elements. The design of the technical matching system is also designed for traditional paper-cut art and cosmetic packaging. And find professional practitioners for research and discussion and multiple transformations and obtain experimental analysis results data. In recent years, artificial intelligence technology has developed faster and faster, and many industries need to rely on artificial intelligence technology for transformation and upgrading. The purpose of this article is to study the future development and exploration of artificial intelligence technology in traditional handmade leather goods, and to specifically propose the use of intelligent new technologies to enhance personal experience, use new Internet media to innovate traditional handmade leather goods display, and expand composite types. However, with the rapid development of society, the living environment of intangible cultural heritage has changed, and the intangible cultural heritage of traditional handicraft industry is rapidly declining or even disappearing. In order to protect traditional handicraft intangible cultural heritage, this article studies the influence of the integration of traditional handcrafted intangible cultural heritage with the form of material carrier, reading and analyzing a large number of related documents using the literature survey method, and according to research needs, through the study of the content of the literature In summary, a questionnaire survey method was adopted to investigate traditional handicraft intangible cultural heritage visitors and inheritors. The results of the survey found that visitors’ satisfaction with the integration of digital forms and physical carrier forms of intangible cultural heritage projects was nearly 30% higher than that of unintegrated forms. Inheritors generally believe that integrated research has better publicity and education for traditional handicraft intangible heritage. The merged handmade intangible cultural heritage items are easy to store, retrieve and query, and at the same time help to preserve the related traditional handmade intangible cultural heritage items safely and for a long time, making the traditional handmade intangible cultural heritage items widely spread and shared around the world.

Utilization of Geographical Indication Protection System for Traditional Handicrafts in Indonesia

This work attempts to analyze the implementation of the GI law and regulations in the traditional handicraft industry in Indonesia. We particularly focus on the natural and human factors that are assessed when stakeholders apply for GI registration for their traditional handicraft products. This work also analyzes the books of requirements of five handicrafts with registered GIs in Indonesia. Indonesia’s GI regulations and policies, especially with regard to handicrafts, are compared with those of India and Thailand. The article comprises four chapters. Chapter 1 introduces the topic of this work. Chapter 2 explores the protection of traditional handicrafts through GI systems. Chapter 3 details the GI law and regulations in Indonesia and the traditional handicrafts protected by GI. Chapter 4 analyzes the issue of GI registration for traditional handicrafts in Indonesia, especially the issue of the assessment of natural and human factors. The chapter also covers the comparative analysis of the GI systems implemented in Indonesia, India, and Thailand to protect traditional handicrafts. Chapter 5 summarizes our conclusions and recommendations.

The fabrication of traditional handicrafts is both an art creation activity and a social economic activity, meaning that the resulting works have dual artistic and economic characteristics. With the development of industrial mass production, the traditional handicraft industry is facing a series of challenges. For sustainable development of the traditional handicraft industry, first the establishment of its historical context and experience is necessary. Therefore, through an analysis of the competitive advantages of the Su-style furniture industry in the Ming Dynasty, this study first sorts out and summarizes the historical experience of the industry’s successful development. Next, sustainable development strategies for the contemporary traditional handicraft industry are explored, and opinions on the inheritance and development of the traditional handicraft industry at the present stage are put forward. Based on the diamond model, this study of Su-style furniture in the Ming Dynasty shows that its competitive advantages in this period included style, material, and skill, and the contributions of the government and consumer demand played important roles in these competitive advantages. Therefore, the current development of the traditional handicraft industry requires both external heritage protection of the government and the internal transformation and innovation of the industry.

Strategic Determinants for the Development of Traditional andicraft Industry of Algeria

The traditional handicraft industry is an important asset to support and help developing the tourism sector of a country. Such conventional products appear as a part of the tourism industry of any country. Algeria has been working for promoting this sector at least for the last few years. This paper thus, attempts to uncover the present situation of this sector in Algeria to identify the achievements that resulted from the taken initiatives. This research is followed descriptive analytical method supported by a theoretical explanation of traditional trades in tourism and the pertaining problems of this sector in the Algerian perspectives. The study then went on analyzing the plans that were taken between the period of 2003-2020 to develop the sector. These plans envisioned to upgrade the competitiveness of this sector by encouraging more entrepreneurial initiates and trainings. These plans also aimed to engage a group of mediators to liaise with the craftsmen and central management bodies of the Algerian government. These plans are said to have achieved considerable positive outcomes especially, in creating a solid ground for this sector’s development and by creating more jobs. Still, the lack of consumer demand remains an issue. On the other side, funding also becomes the other concern for this sector’s development. This study thus, stresses on appropriate action for ensuring better return from this sector by more funding and strategic policy suggestions.

Knowledge Diffusion and Modernization of Rural Industrial Clusters: A Paper-manufacturing Village in Northern Vietnam

This article tests the role of social learning in the modernization of a rural nonfarm industry, using data from a paper-manufacturing village that was transformed from a traditional handicraft industry into a modern industrial cluster. Knowledge diffusion through kinship networks is shown to have played a significant role in the dissemination of mechanized production by helping the followers to overcome subjective risk during the initial investment stage. The financial support through kinship networks also had a demonstrably positive impact on the diffusion of the technology, which removed financial constraints on the initial fixed investments.

Tissue culture costs of 3 superior wild clones of Prunus sargentii Rehder (PS 1, PS 2, PS 3) for the Japanese traditional handicraft industry was studied using sprout axillary buds. The overall degree of micropropagation difficulty of the 3 clones was in the order of PS 3, PS 2 and PS 1 judging from shoot propagation, rooting, plug and acclimation. The estimated cost of the plug was 304 yen (PS 1), 485-646 yen (PS 2) and 509-680 yen (PS 3). PS 1 was propagated with1 or 3.16μM BAP, but PS 2 and PS 3 only propagated with 1μM BAP. Under shoot propagation with 1μM BAP, the rooting was only observed in PS 2. Rooting and shoot development under rooting conditions indicated different patterns of IBA response among 3 clones. The clonal differences of phytohormonal response among 3 clones are considered to be due to the physiological status and/or genetic background.
