Exploration Of Subjective Norms Of Tourists In The Application Of Planned Behavior Theory To Predict The Intention To Visit Tourist Objects In Indonesia

This research aims to explore a deeper understanding of the factors that influence tourists' intentions to visit tourist attractions in Indonesia using the Planned Behavior Theory (TPB) approach. This research focuses on exploring tourists' subjective norms, which is one of the main components in the TPB, along with attitudes and behavioural control. The research method involves an online survey targeting a sample of tourists who have visited or intend to visit tourist attractions in Indonesia. The research instrument consists of structured questions designed to measure critical variables in the TPB, with particular emphasis on subjective norms. Data analysis used descriptive and inferential statistical techniques to identify relationships between key variables. The research findings are expected to significantly contribute to understanding the factors that influence tourists' visiting intentions, as well as their implications for developing marketing strategies and managing tourist attractions in Indonesia. It is hoped that the results of this research can become a reference for tourism industry stakeholders, government and researchers in consumer behaviour and tourism to improve the management and development of tourist attractions in Indonesia to increase the attractiveness and competitiveness of tourist destinations globally.

Реализация программ активного туризма как драйвер развития регионального рынка туристских услуг

Increasing interest in healthy lifestyle and active recreation is a new trend of consumer preferences. There has been a significant increase in income from the sale of active tours in Russian regions. Their popularity has increased significantly in recent years. The purpose of the study was to analyze the practice and problems of implementing active tourism programs in Orel region, and to substantiate the importance and significance of popularization and implementation of active tourism programs for the development of regional tourism market. Methods of analysis and synthesis, comparison, comparison, and review evaluation were used in the study. The article provides an overview of interpretations of the concept of active tourism given by the authors of scientific works, and its social significance and development priority are indicated in connection with the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin, given to the Cabinet of Ministers: to consider a set of measures for the development of active tourism. The results of the review of organizing active tourism practice in Orel region are presented, and its types and organization system model in the region are indicated. It is proved that active tourism plays a significant role in formation of the tourist flow in the region, since the projects that attract federal funding to the region are being implemented in this area. A number of initiatives of Orel entrepreneurs received grant support from the Government of the Russian Federation. At the same time, active tourism has not received due attention so far. The main problems of the development of active tourism in Orel region are identified and outlined. The conclusion is made about the insufficient use of active tourism potential. So it is necessary to adjust and detail the Program of domestic tourism development in Orel region. Entities engaged in tourism activities in the region and organizations planning investments in tourism industry should receive a clear instruction concerning the priority of active tourism development in the region. This motivates them to focus their efforts on tourist products formation in demand in the region, expand the range of offers in the sector of active tourism, and accordingly initiates the development of regional tourism market. Development of active tourism will significantly increase competitiveness of tourist destination.

Tourism Destination Competitiveness Ranking and Tourism Performance

This research note compares the impacts of the macroeconomic condition on the relationship between tourism destination competitiveness (TDC) ranking and tourism performance. This study utilized the cross-country analysis of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) data among 115 countries. Macroeconomic conditions are conceptualized in high-income versus low-income nations, while the WEF TTCI ranking explains the TDC ranking. The Partial-least square-structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) Multi-Group Analysis (MGA) results showed that TTCI ranking significantly influenced the low-income group’s tourism performance only but not for the developed ones. The results confirm the criticism of the TTCI ranking bias, reflecting the unbalanced competitiveness assessment distribution between advanced and low-income countries. The study findings augment the incomparability among countries on different levels of development and the arbitrary weighting of the TTCI ranking report, which may lead to inaccurate perceptions of the country and incorrect investment decisions.

PHIC DESIGN CONNOTATIONS IN ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS FOR SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

This study aims to explore the benefit of graphic design in awareness campaigns promoting sustainable tourist destinations and to determine its contribution to the success of campaigns in terms of increasing the protection of natural and economic resources of the destination. The study applies semiotics to the field of social marketing to build a conceptual model that links graphic design of a campaign with public environmental awareness and destination preservation. The aim is to preserve the natural environment and pastoral activities, and that the semiotics of graphic design affects public environmental awareness. This innovative framework for graphic design can be adapted to marketing campaigns or other brands to improve the images of destinations. Tourism activities are closely linked to the environment. It is important to increase awareness among tourists, local residents, and stakeholders about the importance of adopting sustainable practices to ensure the sustainability of the tourism industry and the preservation of local resources. This is crucial in enhancing the reputation and competitiveness of tourist destinations. The increasing demand for new tourist experiences has led to the popularity of natural areas as tourist destinations, offering unique and authentic experiences for visitors seeking to escape their daily routine. Developing a weighted model to measure knowledge diffusion in a tourism destination network

ABSTRACT Efficient knowledge transfer enhances tourism destination competitiveness. Multiple factors, however, affect knowledge transfer, making it a complex process to quantify. To address this complexity, we developed a quantitative tool by integrating a diffusion model with the major antecedents of knowledge transfer identified in the knowledge management literature. We applied this model in the Western Australian tourism industry and demonstrated its practicality. The proposed model provides a quantitative tool for destination management organizations to monitor, assess and improve the efficiency of knowledge diffusion within their tourism destinations. Such improved knowledge diffusion is critical in strengthening a destination's innovative capabilities and competitiveness.

Technology Integration in Tourism Management: Enhancing the Visitor Experience

This research aims to investigate the integration of technology in tourism management with a focus on improving the visitor experience. The background is related to the rapid development of technology and its impact on the tourism industry, where the use of technology can influence the way tourism destinations are promoted, managed, and enjoyed by visitors. The aim of this research is to identify gaps in knowledge related to the implementation of technology in tourism management and to evaluate the effectiveness of various technological methods in improving the visitor experience. This research method includes literature analysis, case studies, and surveys to collect data on the use of technology in tourism management. It is hoped that the results of this research will provide new insights into the potential of technology to improve visitor experiences in tourism destinations, as well as its practical implications for the tourism industry. The implication of this research is to provide guidance for tourism practitioners in designing more effective strategies for integrating technology in destination management, which in turn can increase the competitiveness and sustainability of tourism destinations. The uniqueness of this research lies in its interdisciplinary approach that combines the fields of technology and tourism management, as well as its focus on visitor experience as a key aspect in the success of modern tourism destinations.

Tourist experience of Indonesia’s tourism in the era of digitalization

<p>Millennials are stakeholders as well as consumers of the tourism sector for a country. Millennials' needs, wants, habits, and behavior, especially regarding the use of new media in daily life, are seen as important things to pay attention to. Millennial characteristics, competitiveness and attractiveness of tourist destinations, and public relations are important concepts in this study. In this context, Malaysian tourists visiting Indonesia provided input regarding digital tourism in Indonesia. The main concepts used were Social Media and Digital Era for Tourism. Qualitative case studies were the research methodology in this study. The data collection technique used was in-depth interviews. The informants in this study were Malaysian tourists, totaling 6 people. The results show that the tourism experience of foreign tourists provides valuable information regarding the use of information and communication technology for better tourism in Indonesia.</p>

The Competitiveness of Tourist Destinations: A Review of the Scientific Literature

The competitiveness of tourist destinations worldwide is of vital importance for any destination that wishes to develop and improve its positioning in the global, national and/or regional market, because the actors of tourist destinations are aware that the greater the number of tourists and tourist spending in the destination, the greater the economic development that directly and indirectly affects the different actors, the ultimate objective being to improve the quality of life of the people in the community. Therefore, this study focuses on carrying out a review of the scientific literature on the competitiveness of tourist destinations, with the objective of identifying the dimensions, factors and indicators used in the different models of destination competitiveness, which can be applied to a tourist destination at the present time and have greater clarity when evaluating it. In this sense, a bibliographic review of 40 scientific articles from Scopus and Science Direct published between 2000 and 2021 was carried out, of which 29 articles were selected based on the criteria of the proposed models of competitiveness of tourist destinations, factors and indicators used. The results of the study contemplate a theoretical framework of competitiveness in itself, the competitiveness of tourist destinations and the models of competitiveness of tourist destinations, making an analysis of the differences and similarities between them; likewise, indicators used to analyze the destination are presented, and finally, studies that have used these theories and models in different countries are presented. Finally, it is concluded that the theories of the competitiveness of tourist destinations that have most influenced these models have been those proposed by Ritchie and Crouch, and Dwyer and Kim, since they have between 7 and 9 factors in common and 57 indicators.

Tourism Destination Management and Public-Private Partnership Networks: a Literature Review

The competitiveness of tourist destinations depends on their management and the role played by the actors in this activity. In this aspect, the study proposes, based on the review of research on the management of tourist destinations and public-private institutional collaboration networks, to demonstrate the feasibility of carrying out quantitative studies linking these two variables. The method of descriptive bibliographic review of the main databases was applied to find an approach to the most important research and studies on the subject. In the first place, qualitative inquiries directed to destination management and oriented to public and private networks from 2003 to 2022 were analyzed, observing the linkage between these two categories; where the importance of destination management for competitiveness is led by the different tourism stakeholders of the place, who through public-private networks optimize the performance of the locality. Secondly, quantitative cohort studies are presented where the variables of destination management and private public networks are analyzed from the dimensions and indicators for each one, evidencing that these two constructs lead to a relationship, proposing a model in which the factors of the authors Dwyer framed in the management of tourist destinations and that of Chiappa and Presenza channeled to private public networks are included. It is concluded the existence of a theoretical support on a linkage of these categories oriented to the qualitative and relational approach from the quantitative approach between destination management and private public networks, indicating that their study is relevant for the competitiveness of a tourist destination.

Empowering local communities engagement: Rural tourism and business innovation for SDGs desa

Purpose: This study investigates the role of social entrepreneurship and business innovation in empowering local communities for rural tourism development within the framework of sustainable development goals (SDGs). Research methodology: A comprehensive review of the existing literature on social entrepreneurship, business innovation, and rural tourism development is conducted. The study also involved qualitative interviews with key stakeholders and community members in the selected villages, followed by thematic analysis of the data. Results: The findings reveal that Social entrepreneurship plays a crucial role in fostering community engagement, promoting social inclusivity, and creating sustainable tourism initiatives. On the other hand, business innovation enables local communities to differentiate themselves, enhance visitor experiences, and improve the overall competitiveness of rural tourism destinations. Limitations: This study acknowledges certain limitations, including the selection of a limited number of case study villages and potential bias in qualitative interviews. Further research is needed to explore the generalizability of the findings across different contexts. Contribution: This study contributes to the understanding of the synergistic relationship among social entrepreneurship, business innovation, and rural tourism development. These findings provide insights for policymakers, community leaders, and practitioners in designing effective strategies to empower local communities and promote sustainable tourism within the SDGs Desa framework. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in its comprehensive examination of the combined influence of social entrepreneurship and business innovation on rural tourism development in the context of sustainable development goals (SDGs Desa). This highlights the potential of these concepts to drive positive change and create inclusive and resilient rural tourism destinations.

Optimalisasi Paket Wisata Pada Pantai Sawarna Menggunakan Aplikasi Sitaman Bumi Yang Terintegrasi Dengan Batour

Sawarna Village in Lebak, Banten, possesses significant tourism potential yet remains underutilized and has experienced a decline in visitors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Community Service Program (CSP) Group 7 focuses on managing and marketing tourism packages through digital platforms to enhance local economy and knowledge. Previously, tourism information was primarily disseminated orally, hindering Sawarna's tourism potential to reach its maximum. CSP is seen as a strategic opportunity to advance tourism potential through technology. Besides marketing, CSP empowers the community and local figures to actively participate in sustainable tourism development. The main objective is to enhance the community's capacity in managing tourism potential sustainably. The method employed involves comprehensive data collection of tourism packages and optimization of existing tourist attractions. The outcome is the creation of structured and digitally interconnected tourism packages, facilitating access to information for tourists and boosting Sawarna's competitiveness as a tourism destination. CSP is expected to serve as a catalyst in unlocking new opportunities for Sawarna as a competitive tourism destination. In conclusion, the management and marketing of tourism packages through digital platforms are crucial in maximizing Sawarna's tourism potential and increasing community involvement in sustainable tourism development

The changing role of hotel attributes in destination competitiveness throughout a crisis

Purpose By conducting a longitudinal study, this study aims to investigate how the role of hotel attributes in destination competitiveness changed through the stages of pre-, amid and recovery from the crisis. Design/methodology/approach First, the latent Dirichlet allocation method was used to identify hotel attributes from 15,137 online reviews, and then a sentiment analysis was performed to determine tourist satisfaction with the subject attributes. Second, separate asymmetric impact competitor analyses were conducted for the three stages of the crisis, and their results were compared with understand how the role of the hotel attributes changed throughout the crisis. Findings The results revealed that the impacts of hotel attributes on tourist satisfaction and destination competitiveness differed significantly at each stage of the crisis. Research limitations/implications This research expands the existing literature by offering valuable insights by elucidating the changing characteristics of hotel attributes at each crisis stage. The results extend the body of knowledge in destination management by providing evidence on the validity of asymmetric impact competitor analysis. Originality/value To fully understand the impact of a crisis (e.g. COVID-19) on destination competitiveness with a focus on the hotel sector, this research conducted a longitudinal study that covers three stages of the crisis (i.e. pre-, amid and post-crisis). Moreover, unlike previous studies, this research considers the asymmetric relationships between service attributes and overall tourist satisfaction, as well as competitors’ information.

Daya saing dan keberlanjutan destinasi wisata desa kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara

This research aims to descriptively identify the competitiveness of tourist destinations in Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan Province, according to the perspective of stakeholders, namely the local government and owners of tourist destination. It then classifies the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats under SWOT Analysis framework. This study also explains the sustainability of tourist destinations measured from economic, socio-cultural and environmental componentsUsing qualitative descriptive technique, our data. were taken from secondary and primary sources, namely from the Tourism Office of Kutai Kartanegara, Indonesian. and through sample field visits by interviewing informants from Benua Elai (Belai) Tourism Village (Desa Wisata Benua Elai) in Sub-District of Loa Janan. The research results show that the competitiveness of tourist destinations in Kutai Kartanegara has comparative and competitive advantages. Comparatively, natural tourism has 74 destinations, followed by cultural tourism with 157 destinations. There are also 21 artificial tourist destinations. In terms of competitive advantage, institutional support from the district government in supporting the development of community-managed tourist destinations through Kelompok Sadar Wisata (Pokdarwis) has been carried out. From the aspect of sustainability, tourist destinations such as Desa Belai have the potential to improve well-being of surrounding communities, though the position of tourist destinations has been threatened by large-scale mining activities. These coal mining explorations may harm sustainability of village tourism and its prospect to be leading growth sector.

Marketing Strategies, Competitiveness and Sustainability Practices of Tourists Destinations

The study was conducted to determine the marketing strategies, competitiveness and sustainability practices of tourist destinations. The subjects of the study were the employee of Department of Tourism and owner of Tourist Destination, in the Province of Aklan, Philippines for the year 2023. They were equated according to educational attainment, position, years of operation, types of tourist attraction, and municipality. The study utilized descriptive – correlational research design and the statistical tools used were Frequency Count, Percentage, Mean, Kruskal Wallis H-Test and Spearman Rho. All statistical computations were processed using the Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) Software. The margin of error was set at .05 alpha. The findings of the study revealed that the majority of respondents were highest educational attainment bachelor’s degree, rank in file for the position, natural with 1-5 years above in operation municipality of Tangalan. The marketing strategies among tourists destinations were employed, competitiveness level were most competitive, and level of sustainability practices was mostly practiced. The research underscores the critical role of aligning marketing strategies with tourists' wants and needs, ensuring continuous enhancement of services, preserving the natural and cultural environment, and boosting business profitability. The findings emphasize that effective marketing strategies lead to improved products and services, driving competitiveness and innovation in tourism destinations. Moreover, the study highlights the heightened competition among tourist destinations due to an increasing number of visitors, underscoring the need for sustaining a competitive advantage. Additionally, the study underscores the significance of sustainability practices in ensuring remarkable guest experiences and long-term tourism management, emphasizing the importance of meeting customer expectations. Lastly, the research establishes a significant relationship between marketing strategies, sustainability practices, and competitiveness, emphasizing their impact on customer satisfaction, business success, and community growth.

Experiences and Expectations: Drivers of Urban Tourist Destination Competitiveness

Research Question: This paper investigates into how the relationship between the perceived quality of tourists’ experiences and their expectations of the well-reputed urban tourist destinations affect its competitiveness. Motivation: Most of the published research in this field focuses on a general approach to the competitiveness, while the effect of the individual dimensions of tourist destination attractiveness, especially in case of urban tourist destinations, is still insufficiently explored. This study provides insights and recommendations for destination management that would result in a more effective management of urban tourist destinations and, consequently, increase competitiveness of the destination. Idea: The main idea of this study is to empirically evaluate the relationship between the perceived quality of tourists’ experiences and their expectations from urban tourist destinations, and to identify the most important dimensions of tourist destination attractiveness, taking into consideration different motivational factors. Based on the obtained results, it is possible to give recommendations that can contribute to increasing tourists’ satisfaction and competitiveness of the urban tourist destination. Data: The study was conducted on a sample of 312 respondents from Belgrade, a large outbound tourist centre, who met the pre-established set of criteria. Computer-aided web interviewing (CAWI) was used for data collection. Tools: The study was conducted using the Pearson correlation coefficient to determine the relationship between the perceived quality of experiences and expectations, and the SERVQUAL model for measuring quality of dimensions of tourist destination attractiveness by evaluating the differences between perceived quality and expectations, and descriptive statistics. Findings: Traditional understanding of tourists’ satisfaction that leads to tourist destination competitiveness is that the tourists’ expectations must be either met or exceeded. This study showed that tourists’ expectations from certain  dimensions of tourist destination attractiveness may be higher than the quality of the experience with them, but tourists would still be satisfied if the perceived quality of their experiences was positive. Moreover, the study has identified three social and one physical dimension of tourist destination attractiveness as the most significant, regardless of tourists’ travel motivation. Contribution: The study contributes to the existing body of literature by introduction of the new data-driven approach to the strategic processes of managing urban tourist destination and its dimensions of tourist destination attractiveness.

TOURISM DESTINATION COMPETITIVENESS MODEL FOR THE CITY OF SOLO

This study aims to identify the main factors that affect the competitiveness of tourist destinations in the city of Solo, involving an analysis of aspects of cultural uniqueness, service standards, and tourism infrastructure. This study used the descriptive-qualitative method. The results show First, the cultural uniqueness and heritage of the City of Solo appear to be major factors in attracting tourists. Traditional art, local cuisine, classic architecture, and cultural celebrations are the main attractions that set this destination apart. Second, superior service quality is proven to have a key role in creating a positive experience for tourists. Being responsive to their needs creates an emotional bond that encourages return visits and recommendations to others. Third, the influence of technology and social media in the paradigm of seeking information and planning travel has undergone changes. The use of technology, such as an augmented reality-based guide application, creates an interactive experience that enriches the visit.

Smart Destination Management: Challenges and Practices

While the benefits of Smart destination management are significant,there are also several challenges that need to be addressed. In this abstract, we explore the challengesand practices of Smart destination management. One of the key challenges is the lack of astandardized framework for Smart destination management. The absence of a common set of indicators,metrics, and benchmarks makes it difficult to measure the effectiveness of Smart destinationmanagement initiatives and compare performance across destinations.

The life cycle and competitive position of tourism destinations: a global empirical approach

ABSTRACT The competitiveness of tourism destinations depends on their degree of development or maturity. This article uses cluster analysis methods to establish the position in the life cycle of destinations in a pool of 154 countries. The article also explores their evolution between 2007 and 2017 doing a static comparative exercise. The position in the life cycle is determined by using confidence intervals for the means of the main variables. Following a recent and innovative methodology, thresholds are proposed that could potentially allow for a change of phase in the life cycle. Moreover, the article examines the main determinants of the competitiveness of the different destination groups as a function of their life-cycle position.

FACTORS AFFECTING BRANDS AND COMPETITIVENESS OF TOURISM DESTINATIONS: AN ANALYSIS OF THE MEKONG DELTA

International travel is one of the fastest-expanding links, connecting countries worldwide and bringing them closer together. Since 1990, many Southeast Asian countries have opened their doors to international integration and have become attractive destinations for international tourists by promoting tourism development, typically Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. The study of brands and competitiveness for tourism destinations in Vietnam is essential. However, there is no research done yet to study the brands and competitiveness of destinations in Mekong Delta. This research aims to define factors affecting the brand and competitiveness of a tourism destination; its foundation is a synthesis of qualitative and quantitative research methods and it focuses on a case study in the Mekong Delta. Group conversations with specialists were held to conduct qualitative research. Research directly interviewed 650 tourists in Mekong Delta tourist areas and was used to conduct quantitative research. The research will show which specific factors affect the brand and destination competitiveness in the Mekong Delta that other researchers have not shown. The research results show that: (i) brand of a destination is affected by eight factors (tourism infrastructure, natural environment, destination adaptation, culinary culture, safety and security in tourism, hospitality, service costs and local folk music); (ii) competitiveness of a destination is affected by nine factors (tourism infrastructure, natural environment, destination adaptation, culinary culture, safety and security in tourism, human service costs, local folk music and brand). From the results, this research suggests some managerial implications for expanding brands and strengthening the destination competitiveness in the Mekong Delta.

Examining the relationship between online distribution channels and tourist satisfaction and loyalty

Although the Internet and e-commerce have contributed positively to the tourism sector, there is not much empirical research on the transformation of distribution channels or that considers the use of the Internet in travel planning as an antecedent of tourist satisfaction and loyalty. This paper aims to test the influence of online distribution channels in trip planning by tourists on their general satisfaction level and their loyalty towards the destination and to differentiate the profile of digital and traditional tourists. Quantitative research techniques are used to analyse the dataset of 1,387 surveys of tourists visiting the province of Burgos, Spain. Among those surveyed, 65% search for information online and 54% book or pay for services online. According to ordinal regression analysis, the use of online channels does not significantly influence the level of satisfaction, but according to binary logistic regression, it does significantly influence loyalty. The findings provide valuable information for developing marketing strategies in tourism organisations and support decision-makers in creating competitive tourism destinations that are resilient to the demographic challenge of depopulation.
