Enhancing the Efficiency of Scientific Activities in a Medical Organization within the Scope of the Process Approach

The article substantiates the principal trends of research optimization in medical organizations with the use of process-oriented management methods (the case of Ya.L.Tsivyan Novosibirsk Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics). The research is based on the principle of the process approach. It is one of the fundamental principles of the total quality management model that is the most effective management concept based on quality. When developing a system for organizing scientific workflows based on the process approach, planning as well as a methodology of academic research play the key role. For all stages of research activities, processes of planning tasks, their fulfilment and reporting with the determination of responsibility for all types of work being performed and with the development of forms of necessary documents used in the organization of scholarly activities have been framed; approaches to the output of scientific products have been standardized and process regulations have been developed for each of its types. The development of processes is carried out on the basis of the requirements of regulatory documentation, taking into account modern approaches to the organization of research activities. Moreover, all documents containing requirements for processes are reviewed and updated at regular intervals, taking into account changes in regulatory guidance. The development and implementation of a system for organizing scientific activities based on the process approach allow a scientific medical institution to achieve compliance with modern requirements for conducting academic research, as well as to improve the quality and efficiency of scientific activities. The accumulated successful experience can be used in organizations that seek to increase the effectiveness of their scientific activities and meet contemporary requirements for their results.

Impact of modern technological methods of knowledge management and total quality management on the performance of educational colleges faculty: A case of Jordan

This research investigates the impact of modern technological methods of knowledge management (KM) and total quality management (TQM) on the performance of faculty members in educational colleges in Jordan. Drawing on a survey conducted with 306 faculty members, the study examines the influence of technology on teaching methodologies and academic quality within the Jordanian higher education context. The study utilizes the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to back up the modern technological methods of knowledge management (KM) and total quality management (TQM) models. The findings reveal a generally positive perception among respondents regarding the beneficial effects of modern technological tools on teaching effectiveness, collaboration, and innovation. Additionally, technology-enhanced TQM practices were found to contribute to improvements in curriculum design, student engagement, and administrative processes. Regression and correlation analyses support significant relationships between technology-enabled KM and TQM practices and faculty performance, highlighting the transformative role of technology in shaping the future of higher education in Jordan. Recommendations are provided for educational institutions to enhance the integration of technology and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement among faculty members.

Review of the Adoption of TQM Models and the Achieved Sustainable Business Results in the MENA Telecommunication Industry

Purpose: Understanding the criticality of the telecommunication industry in the current time and appreciating the significance of adopting total quality management models in organizations to extend business sustainability. This paper provides a comparison between two telecommunication leaders in the MENA region: Zain & Etisalat, to assess their adoption of TQM models and the impact on their organizational and market success. Methodology: this study uses a comparative case study. a mixed-methods methodology was applied, combining quantitative and qualitative data. Primary data collection methods included surveys given to employees at different levels to gauge the internal effects of TQM models on operational efficiency and employee satisfaction, as well as semi-structured interviews with key management personnel from both companies, aimed at gaining insights into the implementation and outcomes of TQM practices. Secondary data came from a number of sources, such as government publications that described TQM adoption and telecommunication trends, market analysis and financial performance data from industry databases like Statista, annual reports and official documentation from Zain and Etisalat, and relevant quality management certifications and standards (like ISO 9001:2015). Thematic analysis of interview transcripts to find recurring themes and implementation insights, content analysis of company reports and publications to evaluate the strategic alignment and integration of TQM models, and case study analysis to compare and contrast Zain and Etisalat's approaches to adopting and implementing TQM models were some of the qualitative data analysis techniques used. Findings: The study found that the adoption of TQM models like EFQM, Kaizen and Lean six sigma across the whole organization is more effective than localizing the application to one aspect as indicated by the comparison between Zain & Etisalat. The comparison indicated that the application of TQM extended the sustainability and resilience of Etisalat and Zain in the face of business challenges by improving performance and streamlining processes to increase customer satisfaction. Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The study recommended that both Etisalat and Zain should consider incorporating sustainability practices into their TQM frameworks, given the growing focus on corporate social responsibility and sustainability. This could be illustrating a dedication to sustainable business practices by coordinating Kaizen and Lean Six Sigma initiatives with objectives related to social responsibility and the environment. To improve the synergy between Kaizen, EFQM, and Lean Six Sigma initiatives, both companies should foster cross-functional collaboration.

Research Developments in Quality Management at Universities in Indonesia: A Systematic Literature Review

This systematic literature review evaluates the progression of Quality Management (QM) practices in Indonesian universities over the last two decades, leveraging high-quality studies from databases like Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science. Utilizing a stringent selection process based on relevance, rigor, and contribution, the review explores QM evolution, focusing on implementation, challenges, and impacts. The findings reveal a trend towards adopting QM practices, driven by international standards and local requirements, and place these developments within broader QM theoretical frameworks, such as the Total Quality Management (TQM) model. This analysis provides insight into the systemic and theoretical aspects of QM and examines the unique context of Indonesian higher education, highlighting its influence on QM outcomes. Offering both local insights and international implications, especially for similar developing countries, this review emphasizes the critical role of contextual factors in QM effectiveness. By integrating rigorous analysis with theoretical perspectives, the study contributes significantly to the discourse on quality management in higher education, suggesting directions for future research and policy-making.

Quality in Peruvian service companies in the context of COVID-19

The motivation of this study is to provide empirical evidence of service companies’ performance regarding nine dimensions in a total quality management model during the COVID-19 pandemic. The nine dimensions highlight strategic company activities, and it allows a comparative analysis of the overall effect of having a QMS such as ISO 9001:2015 on Peruvian service companies. A total of 630 Peruvian service companies were surveyed for this study. The questionnaire included 35 Likert-scale items that were further classified into nine (9) dimensions. The Mann-Whitney U test was used to estimate any significant differences between the ISO 9001 certified and non-certified companies. Our findings showed that the performance of ISO 9001:2015 certified companies was significantly higher than that of non-certified companies in all dimensions. Moreover, our findings showed that managers in ISO 9001:2015 certified companies effectively implemented the nine dimensions of the model. The originality of this study lies in proving the positive effect of having a QMS in service companies in a context of slow economic growth and decline of consumer demand such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The findings might encourage service companies, especially those in developing countries, to allocate the necessary resources to obtain a QMS such as the ISO 9001:2015.

Analysis of total quality management (TQM) implementation in the biotechnology industry

Over the past two decades, the relevance of the Total Quality Management (TQM) model has increased significantly. TQM is becoming increasingly popular as organizations focus more on improving the quality of their products, services, and internal operations to increase customer value and gain competitive advantage. Organizations from the biotechnology sector play a significant role in the development of the national economy, the social sphere and employment. In such a situation, they face strong competitive advantages of competitors from all over the world, such as low costs and high productivity. The change in the amount of added value alone over the last 10 years leads to an increase of 35.2% per year. In 2009 is BGN 12 million, and in 2019 is BGN 208 million. That is why it is critical for them to improve their organizational performance through the Total Quality Management (TQM) approach. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the individual components of TQM in organizations from the field of biotechnology and food industry and to determine its model in terms of engineering activities. Pre-designed questionnaires were used as a data collection instrument in the present study. Conducting semi-structured interviews with team leaders in a biotech manufacturing organization provides insight into the impact of TQM on competitiveness. These elements, leadership skills and supplier/customer relationships have been found to play an important role in improving overall performance.

A Proposed Model for Applying Total Quality Management in Vocational and Technical Training Institutes

The study proposes a model for management development in the vocational and technical training institutes of the Vocational Training Corporation in Jordan from the perspective of total quality management. The descriptive survey approach and the qualitative approach were used to develop the proposed model of total quality management. The study population consisted of all administrators, teachers, and trainers of the vocational and technical training institutes. The study sample was chosen randomly. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researchers developed a questionnaire to collect data after reviewing the theoretical literature and previous studies. The findings revealed that the degree of applying total quality management standards in vocational and technical training institutes was medium. Also, a proposed model for total quality management standards in vocational and technical training institutes was developed. In addition, there were no statistically significant differences at (0.05) in applying total quality management standards in the vocational and technical training institutes due to the variables of gender, job title, academic qualification, years of experience, and region. In light of these findings, the researchers recommended activating the standards of total quality management within the proposed model and starting to apply them actually in vocational and technical training institutes. This could be achieved by developing the values and trends within these institutes to assist in building a solid organizational culture for the standards of total quality management.

The Leadership Style of the Program Chair in Improving the Performance of Lectures and Its Relevance to the Quality of Education: A Case Study of the Informatics Engineering Program at ITB Swadharma

This research examines the significance of effective leadership and job performance in achieving organizational or company goals. The research focuses on the leadership style adopted by the head of the information technology engineering study program in improving the performance of lecturers and its relevance to the quality of education in the program. This research holds important value in providing recommendations to decision-makers in educational quality improvement programs to face increasing competition in the higher education industry. This section highlights the importance of effective leadership and job performance in motivating and guiding employees to achieve organizational goals and their impact on the quality of education. Good leadership can involve various aspects, such as providing direction, implementing plans, and motivating organizational members to work effectively. The factors that support educational quality in the implementation model of Total Quality Management include: 1) leadership, 2) customer-focused approach, 3) organizational climate, 4) problem-solving teams, 5) meaningful data, 6) scientific methods and tools, and 7) education and training. The data sources used in this research include: 1) secondary data from internal and external evaluation reports, 2) questionnaires to measure the perceptions of students and lecturers, 3) interviews with the head of the study program, lecturers, students, and alumni, 4) policy documents and strategic plans, and 5) statistical data on the performance of lecturers and students.

Basic Solutions for Managing Activities of Applying Information Technology in Teaching English in High Schools in Ho Chi Minh City Under Comprehensive Quality Management Approach

After 37 years of innovation, integration and development, Vietnam has achieved many great achievements, with its position and strength becoming stronger than ever. Economic development, political and social stability; Culture and society have developed, national defense and security have been strengthened; The material and spiritual life of the people is increasingly improved. Also in that process of innovation and integration, Vietnamese education has achieved many achievements in improving the quality of human resources and promoting the human factor to promote the country's development. With the efforts of administrators and teachers, the management of information technology application activities in English teaching in high schools has initially had positive changes in a number of aspects. This study was conducted to analyze and clarify basic solutions for managing information technology application activities in English teaching in high schools in Ho Chi Minh City according to the total quality management approach aspect - TQM (Total Qualityl Management). The results show that managing information technology application activities in English teaching according to the Total Quality Management model will contribute to ensuring that technology is being used effectively in schools learning, promoting and facilitating the effective application of information technology to teachers' teaching activities and students' learning activities, contributing to improving the quality of teaching. The basic solutions that the article states and analyzes towards managing the application of information technology to English teaching in high schools in Ho Chi Minh City are: raising awareness for officials and teachers. lecturer on the importance of applying information technology to teaching English in high schools according to the Total Quality Management approach; stage control of the management process of applying information technology to English teaching according to the Total Quality Management approach; Implement a quality management system for applying information technology to English teaching according to the Total Quality Management approach in schools. The limitation of this study is that it has not stated and analyzed the factors that affect the management of information technology application activities in teaching English in high schools in Ho Chi Minh City according to the approach comprehensive quality management.

A Literature Review of Total Quality Management Practices in Malaysia and Indonesia Schools

The rapid growth of information and technology has encouraged all organizations including school organizations to adopt a quality management called Total Quality Management (TQM). The practice of TQM in Malaysian and Indonesian schools shows similarities and differences. Therefore, this research seeks to explore some of the TQM models and elements that are applied in Malaysian and Indonesian schools. Using a qualitative literature study approach, this study uncovers the models and elements of TQM practiced in Malaysian and Indonesian schools. The TQM models found are the Deming model (PDCA), Quality Circles (QC), Total Quality Control (TQC). The elements of TQM that are practiced include leadership, employee commitment, continuous improvement, employee involvement, training, and customer satisfaction. The difference is that the TQM that is practiced in Malaysian schools found the Crosby "zero defect" model, meanwhile, in Indonesian schools found the Control Chart (CC) Model. The TQM element in the form of problem solving in Malaysian schools is proven to be able to train students' thinking skills, creativity, and innovation. Therefore, Indonesian schools need to adopt it in classroom learning.

A quality approach oriented towards continuous improvement requires the integration of the entire organization in a logic of dissemination and sharing information with all its stakeholders. An essential condition that need a shared vision of its Leadership, orienting its efforts towards the motivation of its internal and external partners for a better response to the market requirements. This research is part of a group learning approach where internal communication is the only explanatory factor for the success of a Total Quality Management model. The empirical part of this research work is based on a qualitative study, which consists of interviewing the Leaderships of four Moroccan hotels, located in the tourist city of "Marrakesh". The aim of our study is not just to explain the relationship between leadership's vision, internal quality audit and the quality approach, but rather to understand this relationship in terms of what it feels and seeks through the "ISO" certification process

A Structural Equation Modelling of Organizational Culture and Total Quality Management at the Islamic University in Uganda

This study aimed at examining the influence of organisational culture (OC) towards total quality management (TQM) at the Islamic University in Uganda. The study’s research Objectives were; examine whether the hypothesized model of organizational culture and total quality management fit the data. To establish whether the items for measuring organizational culture and Total quality management fit the model? To find out whether organizational culture construct statistically influence total quality management practices as perceived by staff at Islamic University in Uganda? To arrive at the intention of this study, a quantitative research design was employed, and a cross-sectional survey technique was used to attain data from 372 randomly chosen respondents. Data analysis was done using structural equation modelling. The findings of the study reflected that; the questionnaire items for OC and TQM fitted the data whereby CMIN was 1852.328, CMIN/DF 3.750, RMSEA .086, CFI .782 and DF 494.Further analysis to establish the influence of OC towards TQM reflected that CFI was .906, RMSEA .070, CMIN/DF 2.798, CMIN 506.362 AND DF 181; thus, the model fits the data. The influence of OC towards TQM was obtained at a .94 coefficient with a p-value of .000. The factor loadings for both constructs OC and TQM and their sub-constructs deemed reasonable at above 0.70. Thus, proving the model and theory worthy of employment in the management of HEIs so as to produce quality graduates with quality skills for addressing the 21st century challenges. More studies can be done using longitudinal surveys and other data analysis techniques to establish whether the results will differ. Lastly, it is recommended that leaders and their management teams in HEIs should change their perceptions towards running institutional businesses to fit the needs of the 21st century. Today’s world requires quality graduates with quality skills and culture to transform themselves and their community into a quality nation. However, these efforts cannot be achieved if HEIs leaders do not understand TQM’s meaning towards OC. This is because today's staff, students and other stakeholders are far different from the previous ones regarding their rights, services needed, input, the process and the output.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE TQM SYSTEM IN UKRAINIAN ENTERPRISES

This article substantiates the feasibility of using an innovative system of total quality management (TQM) based on theoretical and methodological research. This system has proven its effectiveness in the global economic space. It helps to solve problems associated with increasing the production of high-quality products, the interest and motivation of employees, and also makes production management more effective. The experience of introducing this system by individual countries, in particular, Japan and the USA, is also considered. A comparison of the indicators of Japanese companies before and after the implementation of the TQM model is given. It was concluded that today the majority of domestic enterprises manage product quality in accordance with the principles of the ISO 9000 series. ISO standards are based on technical systems and procedures, but employee involvement and continuous improvement are optional. Unlike ISO, the TQM system involves prioritizing philosophy, concepts, tools and methodology, as well as involvement of all employees and a continuous improvement of quality. The possibility of adapting the TQM system to the practice of Ukrainian enterprises was investigated. Given the available resource potential, this is possible, but first of all, for this, it would be necessary to completely rethink the approach to the management of the organization and conduct trainings on familiarizing employees with the TQM system. Based on the analysis of the main technical and economic indicators of the « Agricultural company 2004» PE, it is proposed to apply the key principles of TQM, which were developed by the famous scientist E. Deming, to increase the efficiency of its activities.

Developing The Quality of Traditional Islamic Boarding School Using The Total Quality Management Model

This study aims to reveal data related to efforts to develop the quality of traditional Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) using the TQM method at the Kebon Jambu Ciwaringin Islamic Boarding School, Cirebon Regency. This study uses qualitative research methods to obtain data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the research study show that by applying the TQM model the quality of education at the Kebon Jambu Islamic boarding school is well maintained with evidence of inputs being carried out through effective and efficient processes and outputs produced through these good educational processes. This boarding school can produce graduates who are proficient in religious knowledge and skills in other fields. Besides that, the legality of education has been recognized by both the Muslim community and the government. Second, in implementing the TQM model to improve the quality of education, the Kebon Jambu Islamic Boarding School makes several programs that are structured and implemented by all stakeholders of the boarding school effectively and efficiently. This achievement was supported by Ustadz competence, adequate infrastructure, and good financing management.

Causal Relationships Model for Total Quality Management, Supply Chain Management, and Organizational Performance: the Automotive and Automotive Parts Industries in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), Thailand

Fluctuations in the global economy in the early 21st century due to financial collapses and unexpected circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic have greatly affected the competitiveness and viability of many industries around the world including Automotive and Automotive Parts in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), Thailand. Effective management strategies including total quality management (TQM) and supply chain management (SCM) will guide the better performance of businesses. Additionally, the previous published studies in Automotive and Automotive Parts industries in these issues are limited. Hence, the objective of this study is to investigate the causal relationships model which focuses on total quality management (TQM), supply chain management (SCM) and organizational performance (OP) of the Automotive and Automotive Parts Industries in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). Data were collected from 212 companies operating in the Automotive and Automotive Parts Industries in Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). The data comprised answers from a self-administered survey, and these were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the structural equations modeling (SEM) method. The findings suggest that together, TQM and SCM generate positive outcomes for organizational performance. Furthermore, supply chain management mediates the relationship between TQM and organizational performance. Hence, effective total quality management and supply chain management can be integrated into businesses’ management and operational strategies to improve the financial and non-financial aspects of their performance.

TQM model based on Deming prize for schools

PurposeThis paper aims to develop a total quality management (TQM) model based on the Deming prize criteria extracted from the Deming Prize. The proposed model is aligned with the school education context and deployed with the goal of achieving school excellence.Design/methodology/approachThe model is developed based on a literature review in which key concepts for formulating the criteria and sub-criteria were identified. A qualitative research approach is applied to validate the model’s effectiveness. Interviews and feedback from an international school in Japan which adopted the model are used to determine its impact.FindingsThe model emphasises the achievement of school objectives (A) by implementing TQM activities (B) and assessing their impact (C). Its implementation offers enhanced organisational ability and the achievement of society-oriented school objectives. The findings show that the model gives clarity to TQM application and offers benefits for schools’ future sustainability.Originality/valueThis research proposes the adoption of a TQM model for educational institutions based on Deming criteria. Based on a comparison with prescriptive models such as Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and ISO 9001, this study shows how the developed model ensures organisational ability in current practice and future growth towards school excellence. Through the formulation of society-oriented school objectives and their linkage with results, it enables schools to create a balanced recognition of important stakeholders and gain consensus in realising the school’s objectives.

Total Transformative Learning Model in Child-Friendly School

This study aims to analyze about; 1) the profile of child-friendly schools in Indonesia, 2) the child-friendly school management model, and 3) the challenges of implementing child-friendly-based management models. A case study qualitative approach with a multi-site design is used in this study. The sites studied selected child-friendly schools representing various levels in Indonesia to obtain comprehensive data. The results showed that the management of child-friendly schools was carried out according to the process, namely planning, organizing, implementing, and supervising the implementation of safe, comfortable, healthy schools, free from acts of violence and discrimination, free to express opinions and participate in making decisions according to their capacity achievement of educational goals. Although the management model developed has different approaches and styles, it refers to a holistic management model that integrates the Total Quality Management Model and the Total Transformative Learning Model. Its main characteristics are sustainable development, growing awareness, and how collegial works. Meanwhile, the challenges faced in implementing Child-Friendly Schools are related to efforts to raise awareness of school residents and parents in forming a mindset according to the Child-Friendly School concept.

Total quality management in Peruvian goods companies during the COVID-19 pandemic

PurposeThe aim of this research is to empirically assess the nine dimensions of the Total Quality Management (TQM) model, which have been categorized into four blocks: the top management block, the supplier block, the process management block and the customer block. The nine dimensions represent key strategic activities of company performance. A comparative analysis of companies with ISO 9001 certification and those without certification in a developing country during the COVID-19 pandemic is carried out.Design/methodology/approachA survey was administered to the management of 259 Peruvian goods companies (in the mining, repair and manufacturing sectors) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey consisted of 35 Likert-scale items, which were grouped into the following nine TQM dimensions: Top management (leadership), quality planning, quality audit and assessment, product design, suppliers' quality management, process control and improvement, education and training, quality circles and focus on customer satisfaction. Then, Cronbach's alpha, the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test, the Mann–Whitney U test and means were computed for each of the dimensions. This analysis made it possible to estimate significant differences between ISO 9001 certified and non-certified goods companies in terms of the dimensions.FindingsThe results showed that, for ISO 9001 certified companies, the averages for all of the dimensions were significantly different from those of non-certified companies, except for the education and training dimension. ISO 9001 certified companies scored higher than non-certified companies in the TQM dimensions. For both certified and non-certified companies, the leadership dimension had the highest average and the quality circles dimension had the lowest average.Originality/valueThis study addresses two main gaps highlighted in the research on quality management: the application of Quality Management Systems (QMS) in developing countries like Peru, and the impact of ISO 9001 on the performance of goods companies during the COVID-19 pandemic.
