Identification of Student Misconception Level Through The Four Tier Dignostic Test as A Result of The Implementation of E-Module Development

Learning in Kurikulum Merdeka guides students not only to wait for information from the teacher, but also to independently obtain good learning resources. Each student's literacy skills will influence their ability to understand material. Students having a misconception still becomes a big threat, therefore the students need specially designed learning media based on materials needed which is listed on the teacher's lesson plan. The learning media was developed in e-modules that can be used both offline and online so as to help reduce misconceptions in the material being studied. This study aims to identify the level of students' misconceptions between classes that use e-modules and those that do not. The research design used a posttest only control group design with questions of the type of four tier diagnostic test. Students answered by google forms and analyzed based on the Certainty of Response Index (CRI) criteria. The results of the implementation of e-modules, that have been developed based on the needs of the teacher's lesson plan, show differences in the level of misconceptions between classes that use it and those who don't. In the experimental class, 33.4% of students stated misconceptions, while in the control class it was 51.7.

Mastery concepts and misconceptions in biotechnology courses with a three tier diagnostic test

This research aims to determine the mastery of concepts and misconceptions of students in the Biology Education Study Program wich is in Pekanbaru. This type of research is survey research with a porpusive sampling type. The population of the study was all students who had taken biotechnology courses, while the research sample was 6th semester students who had just completed biotechnology courses in the previous semester. The total research sample was 32 students. The instrument used to measure mastery of concepts and misconceptions is a diagnostic test with 20 multiple choice questions accompanied by reasons and level of belief. The questions are given using a Google form and students work on the questions during class and are given 90 minutes.The research data were analyzed descriptively. Based on the results showed that for indicator 1 30.01% of students understood the basic concepts of biotechnology well and 55.63 had misconceptions. In indicator 2, only 5% of students understood the concept of biotechnology process while 64.38% had misconceptions and 29.38 did not understand the concept. Indicator 3, as many as 10.63% of students understand the concept of conventional and modern biotechnology characteristics and 59.38% of students have misconceptions and 25.63% do not understand the concept while indicator 4 as many as 30.63% of students understand the examples of biotechnology products while still 43.13% have misconceptions and 22.50% still do not understand the concept. Students' mastery of concepts in biotechnology courses is in a very low category and while more than half of the students still experience misconceptions and do not understand the concepts.

Analysis Of Student Misconceptions Using A Web-Based Diagnostic Test On Redox Material

This study aims to determine the presence of student misconceptions in redox material, misconceptions in each concept of redox material, and factors causing student misconceptions in redox material in class XII MIA SMA N 2 Percut Sei Tuan. This research is a quantitative descriptive research. The sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling technique. The samples in this study were 32 students of class XII MIA 1 who were selected based on the recommendation of the chemistry teacher. Data collection techniques were carried out using a web-based three-tier diagnostic test, misconception questionnaire, and in-depth interviews (teachers and students). The results showed that the misconceptions identified using the web-based three tier diagnostic test on the redox concept as a whole was 31.718%, while students who experience incomprehension of the concept is 54.687%, students who understand the concept is 13.906% and understand the concept is not sure 1.25%. Students' misconceptions on each concept of redox material are highest on the concept of compound names at 43.8% and the lowest on the concept of equalizing redox reactions with the oxidation number method and the ½ reaction/ion electron method at 26.6%.Based on the results of questionnaires and interviews, each factor has an influence on misconceptions, the biggest misconceptions are teacher factors and teaching methods, namely 21.32% and 21.28%.

Developing Diagnostic Test on Geometrical Optics (DT-GO) Concept

Developing Diagnostic Test on Geometrical Optics (DT-GO) ConceptThe purpose of this research is to develop the instrument of diagnostic test on optical geometry material, especially in the mirror and lens topics, as well as to unveil the misconceptions of students at one of the public schools in Subang Regency. A purposive sampling technique sampling with sample selection utilizing cluster random sampling technique was conducted on a total of 96 respondents. The instrument utilized by modifying the Four Tier Diagnostic Test which was developed by Kaltakci- Gurel (2017) is developing diagnostic test on geometrical optics (DT-GO). The results of the instrument analysis on the validity test, reliability test, difficulty level test, and discriminatory power, state that the instrument was very well utilized and developed. Based on data analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that overall misconceptions had occurred of overall misconceptions that occur in students are 42.04 %, thus they meet the requirements for misconceptions to a moderate level.

Identification of High School Students’ Misconceptions on The Biogeochemical Cycle Topics

Misconceptions are a learning problem that not only impacts student acceptance in the form of delays in receiving new knowledge, but also causes misinformation in society, especially in the publication media.This study aims to identify students' misconceptions by using a three-tier diagnostic test on biogeochemical cycle topics. The first step in identifying misconceptions is to develop an identification instrument using the Treagust development method in several stages, starting from identifying the material, analyzing common misconceptions, and compiling questions at each tier. The results of the development of the instrument show that the three tier diagnostic test instrument has a content validity ratio (CVR) and content validity index (CVI) validity of 1 and a reliability of 0.90 for answer choices and 0.86 for reason choices. The valid and reliable instruments were tested on 210 students in 6 accredited schools A, B, and C in South Sumatra, Indonesia. The results showed that on biogeochemical cycle topics, there were two sub-topics categorized as experiencing high misconceptions, fifteen in the moderate category, and eight in the low category. Misconceptions occur in the sub-topics in a cycles of water, carbon and oxygen, sulfur, and nitrogen. The results of the analysis also showed that the highest misconception of 64% was in the reduction and oxidation sub-topic of the sulfur cycle. These findings can be used as input for educators in South Sumatra and Indonesia in general in teaching biogeochemical cycle material to avoid similar misconceptions in the future

Development of PjBL Based Interactive E-Modules with a Scientific Approach in Remediating Misconceptions in Biology Subjects

The process of learning activities can not be separated from learning media. Learning mediaused has not been able to remediate misconceptions. The mediacan be used in remediating misconceptions, namely PJBL-based interactive e-module with a scientific approach. This research is R&D research with a development model ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The instrument used, Four Tier diagnostic test. Test to find out misconceptions, e-module validation questionnaire given to media experts, material experts and language experts to test and determine the feasibility of the e-module and response educators regarding e-modules and student questionnaires for testing limited trial and extensive trial. The data analysis technique uses descriptive quantitative. The research results show the value of expert suitability media is very decent, namely 89%, the value of material experts is very good decent, namely 90%, very decent linguist score, namely 94%, test score try educators very worthy 89%, limited trials very decent 84%, and widely tested value very feasible 80%, shows that the e-module is suitable for use. Results from n-gain effectiveness test 71.4%, e-module PJBL-based interactive with a scientific approach is quite effective in remediating students’ misconceptions about structural material and the function of plant tissue.

Identifying Students’ Conceptions on Sound Wave via the Sound Wave Four Tier (SOFT) Diagnostic Test

This paper aimed to assess the validity of the Sound Wave Four Tier (SOFT) Diagnostic Test that can be used to identify students' conception profiles. Using the Four Design (The participants were 42 students aged 15-17 years old in one of the public high schools in Bandung City. The participants were 42 students aged 15-17 in one of the public high schools in Bandung City. The data's validity, the instrument's reliability, and the distribution of students' conceptions were analyzed using the Rasch model with the MINISTEP 4.5.3.0 program. The dimensional-based validity of the items used was valid. Accuracy based on Cronbach Alpha (α) was in the high category, the item reliability score was in the good category, and the reliability of personnel was in the low category. The conception profile of the students categorized as. Sound Understanding (SU), Partial Positive (PP), Partial Neutral (PNt), Partial Negative (PNg), Misconception (MC), No Understanding (NU), and No Coding (NC). The highest category of conception found was MC. There were a lot of misconceptions found in the sound wave material. Students' Misconceptions are still commonly found in sound waves. A 4D model can be developed using Rasch modeling analysis to identify students' profiles. Utilizing the SOFT instrument enables students to gain a broader understanding of the concept, including verbal statements and various representations of images and mathematical symbols.

Analysis of Misconceptions on Material Solubility and Solubility Product (Ksp) Using a Four Tier Diagnostic Test Instrument

Solubility and solubility product (Ksp) have the potential to be chemical materials that can cause misconceptions in students. The characteristics of material that are abstract, concrete and contain mathematical calculations are often the reason this material is considered difficult to understand. This research aims to analyze the misconceptions experienced by students regarding solubility and Ksp material. This research uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The population of this study were all students of class XI Science at SMAN 1 Pronojiwo and all of them were the sample in this study. The sampling technique used is a saturated sample. The data collection instrument developed and used in this research is a four tier diagnostic test instrument. The data analysis technique uses quantitative descriptive which is guided by the results of the percentage of misconceptions experienced by students in each sub-concept of solubility and Ksp material as well as each question item. Based on the research results, it was identified that in general students' misconceptions regarding solubility and Ksp material were in the low category with a percentage of 23.35%. The highest percentage of misconceptions was identified in the sub-concept of the influence of pH on solubility at 26.62%. Meanwhile, the lowest percentage of misconceptions was identified in the sub-concept of determining the solubility(s) of salts or hydroxides that are difficult to dissolve at 17.48%.

Development of Interactive Multimedia Based on ISpring Suite Integrated Prompting Question to Facilitate Students' Concept Understanding Ability

The 21st century has been characterized by great advances in science and technology. These developments have efficiently addressed many issues in the field of education, in the study of physics. Effective physics learning focuses on students' concept understanding. However, the reality is that students' concept understanding is low, especially in the material of traveling waves and stationary waves. The proposed solution is to develop interactive multimedia based on iSpring suite integrated with prompting questions. The purpose of this interactive multimedia is to determine its characteristics and validity. The type of research used is development research using the Plomp development model. Initial data was collected using a four tier diagnostic test and analysis of 2 interactive multimedia journals. The validity test was conducted by 5 lecturers of Physics FMPA UNP. The validity analysis results reached 0.85 valid category.

PROFIL MISKONSEPSI SISWA PADA MATERI SUHU DAN KALOR

Misconception is a mismatch between the concept that a person believes and the scientific concept according to experts. The occurrence of misconceptions can affect one's knowledge of the next concept. This study aims to describe the profile of students ' misconceptions and find out the difficulties experienced by students on the material heat and temperature. This survey research was conducted on class X MA students totaling 24 students. Data were obtained through a web-based four tier diagnostic test consisting of 10 questions. Students' answers were categorized into 3 categories, namely understanding the concept, misconceptions, and not understanding the concept. The results showed that students had misconceptions with an average percentage of 41%. Students have the most misconceptions in the sub-material of the effect of heat on temperature changes with a percentage of 66%. Based on the results of the interviews, it was found that the average student had difficulty in several sub-materials, namely the concepts of specific heat, temperature, expansion, and the effect of heat on changes in temperature and phase. This research needs to be followed up to overcome students' misconceptions on heat and temperature.

The Effectiveness of The Six Tier Diagnostic Test (STDT) Instrument in Viewed from Empirical Validity to Identify Student's Misconceptions in Chemical Equilibrium Materials

Objective: Students are said to understand the concept comprehensively if they master the concepts from dimensions of ontology, epistemology, and axiology. One of the topics that still needs to be clarified is chemical equilibrium. Therefore, it is necessary to develop instruments to diagnose conceptions about the chemical concepts taught. The STDT is one of the instruments that will be developed by researchers, which contains three scientific questions to identify misconceptions in chemical equilibrium. Method: This development research used the ADDIE model. The instrument's effectiveness refers to the empirical validity after applying the STDT instrument. The effectiveness of the STDT instrument was obtained through the correlation of misconceptions experienced by students with the level of difficulty of the items. The STDT instrument was applied to 86 students. Results: The percentage of students who experienced the highest misconceptions occurred in the chemical equilibrium section of the equilibrium shift due to the influence of a catalyst. In each item of questions, most students need more knowledge or knowledge. The composition of the difficulty of these items should be considered from the start of the instrument's preparation. In the developed STDT instrument, the item difficulty obtained from empirical trials on students did not meet the ideal conditions for the composition of the item difficulty level. Novelty: The resulting instrument for detecting misconceptions. It is a tier diagnostic test that is integrated with three scientific questions.

Development of a Four Tier Diagnostic Test Instrument Based on iSpring Suite 9 to Identify Understanding of Concepts in Students

Evaluation is important to measure the achievement of learning outcomes. Multiple choices, form of test, is commonly used in learning evaluation. However, in the real situation shows that multiple choice tests make students choose the answers randomly. This study was conducted to provide a solution by developing a Four Tier Diagnostic Test based on iSpring Suite 9 to identify students' conceptual understanding of Static Fluid. This research methodology employed Research & Development (R&D). The subject in this study were students of the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Islam Syekh-Yusuf who are studying Basic Physics. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews, tests, validation sheets, and questionnaires. The validation results of material experts are 93%, media experts are 84% so that they are included in the very feasible category. The validity of the test showed that 35 items were valid, and 7 questions were invalid. The reliability of the test is 0.93. The index of difficulty consists of 3 easy, 35 moderate and 4 difficult. The discriminating power of each item included 16 very good questions, 9 good questions, 11 enough questions, 5 bad questions and 1 very bad item. Student response to this instrument is 74.83% included in the high category. This test can identify four levels of students' understanding of concepts, namely understanding concepts, not understanding concepts, partially understanding and misconceptions. Based on the results, the Four Tier Diagnostic Test based on iSpring Suite 9 has met the criteria for a good instrument and is suitable for use.

Identification of Students' Misconceptions Using Six Tier Diagnostic Test with CRI (Certainty of Response Index) on Wave

The concept of waves is essential in physics learning. This study aims to obtain a six-level diagnostic test instrument accompanied by a Certainty of Response Index (CRI) and use it to identify students' level of conceptual understanding and misconceptions on wave material. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with a sample of 220 students. Misconception data was obtained using a misconception test in the form of multiple-choice questions. There are 32 questions with six stages consisting of multiple choices answer, the level of confidence in choosing answers, the source of answer choices, the choice of reasons in answering questions, the level of confidence in selecting causes, and the source of students' reasons in answering the questions. The results showed that the percentage of students who experienced misconceptions in the whole question was 36%. Students who understood the concept was 30%, and 34% of students did not understand the concept. In addition, 61% of students chose answers and reasons for solutions based on personal opinions. The conclusion is that misconceptions are caused by student errors in applying the concepts received in the given problem, and students tend to choose the correct answers and reasons when the issue presented is equipped with a picture and only requires one step to get the correct answer.

PENGEMBANGAN INSTRUMEN TES DIAGNOSTIK THREE TIER PADA MATERI SUHU DAN KALOR DI SMA SWASTA BUDISATRYA MEDAN

The purpose of this study was to diagnose student concepts in temperature and heat material. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) by following the procedure for developing the Brog and Gall model consisting of 10 stages. The sample in this study was class XI IPA students at SMAS Budisatrya. The instruments used were interviews, questionnaires and tests. The results of testing the validity of the contents by the expert validator are classified as valid with an average of 98%, which means the test is in the very good category. From the results of the development of the Three Tier diagnostic test instrument that was developed there were 22 tests of tests that could be said to be feasible. The test results of the test instrument test testing showed that the test was included in the high reliability category, with an average of 0.81. The results of the analysis of students' answers to the test instrument tested show that; Class XI students of SMAS Budisatrya Medan have an average misconception of 33%, understand the concept of 18%, lack of understanding the concept of 23%, does not understand the concept of 15%, and guess 11%. From the results of the development of the Three-tier diagnostic test instrument, it is concluded that the test can be used to identify and find out the level of student misconceptions.

The Profile of Misconceptions Using Three Tier Diagnostic Test on Dynamic Fluid

Dynamic fluids have a stationary flow, where the volume of fluid flowing in each cross-section of the pipe in a specific time interval is the same even though the pipe is widening or narrowing but the fluid velocity is different. When a fluid moves through a section where the velocity and height above the surface change, the pressure in the fluid changes. Understanding led to errors in understanding the concept, so this research was carried out to identify the profile of misconceptions in a dynamic fluid material. Students misconceptions were detected using a three-tier diagnostic test with data analysis using the Certainty of Response Index (CRI). This research is quantitative descriptive research. The respondents of this study were students of class X of senior high school who had received dynamic fluid material. Based on the results of this research, showed that students experienced moderate category misconceptions on dynamic fluid material with the highest level of misconceptions, namely the concept of continuity equation analysis, and the lowest misconception in the analysis of the concept of water flow discharge.

This research aimed to 1) construct the four-tier diagnostic test for detecting the physics Misconceptions on work and energy of motion for the  grade students, 2) to validate the difficulty, the discrimination, the validity and the reliability of the test, 3) detecting physics misconceptions, and 4) to create the teacher manual of the test. The sample of the research was selected by stratified random sampling technique. The sample consisted of 701 students who studied in  and  grade of schools under Chon Buri–Rayong Secondary Educational Service Area Office. The research instrument was a 20-item of four–tier diagnostic test for detecting the physics misconceptions in work and energy.The research findings revealed that diagnostic test met the requirements of content validity with IOC indices which ranged between 0.80 and 1.00. The construct validity was between 0.72 and 0.95. The difficulty of all items ranged between 0.38 and 0.44. The discrimination index was calculated by Whitney and Sabers which ranged between 0.50 and 0.63. The reliability of the test according to Livingston Method ranged from 0.91 to 0.97. The cutting score calculated by Angoff Methed was 13 points from 20 points. The diagnostic test results showed that all most of the students had correct conception in power, did not understand the concept in meaning of kinetic energy, misconceived in power transform of the law of conservation and error in the meaning of conservation forces.

FEASIBILITY OF STUDENTS WORKSHEETS USING CONCEPTUAL CHANGE TO REMIDIATE MISCONCEPTIONS ON CHEMICAL BONDING MATERIAL

This research aims to determine the feasibility of student worksheetss to remediate misconceptions on chemical bonding material, sub-material ionic bonding and covalent bonding with the development of conceptual change models on student worksheets. The research method used is research and development (R&D). Three tier diagnostic tests are used to determine misconceptions experienced by students. Quantitative data analysis is used to determine the classification of students' conceptions and also the remission of misconceptions. The results of this study obtained the feasibility of a student worksheets which was assessed from validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Validity gets a percentage of 83.01% with a very valid category. Practicality gets a percentage of 93.54% with a very practical category. Effectiveness in terms of the N-Gain score in the high and medium level category. The Relationship between Students' Misconception Levels Using Four Tier Diagnostic Tests with Concept Understanding

This study was conducted to know the relationship between the level of students' misconceptions and students' understanding. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method with a correlative research model. This research was conducted in MA. Miftahul Ulum Bettet Pamekasan in February 2022. The population in this study were all class X students with samples of class X Mathematics and Natural Sciences A, B, and C taken using the purposive sampling method. Data on the level of student misconceptions was obtained using a four-tier diagnostic test and analyzed with student understanding data using SPSS 25. The data obtained in the study, namely the correlation coefficient value was obtained at 0.088, which means that the level of relationship between students' understanding variables and students' level of misconceptions variables is very weak.

Identification of Students' Misconceptions on Acid-Base using Four Tier Diagnostic Tests

Students often have difficulty understanding acid-base material, so it has the potential to cause misconceptions. If the students' misconceptions are left unattended and not immediately identified, there will be ongoing misconceptions. This study aimed to describe the misconceptions that occur in acid-base material and determine the large percentage of students who experience misconceptions. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. The subjects of this study consisted of 108 students of class XII MA Matholi'ul Anwar. The identification of misconceptions used a four-tier diagnostic test instrument with 20 items. The students' answers from the test were then analyzed and categorized into understanding concepts, not understanding concepts, and misconceptions. This study found that 50% of students hold misconceptions about acid-base theories, 59% in acid-base indicators, 55% in acid-base ionization constant, 58% in pH, 55% in the calculation of pH and 51.9% in pH concepts in the environment.
