ABSTRACT Glyptothorax pongoensis, sp. n. is described from the Yongmon River in Nagaland, India. Glyptothorax heokheei, a new species of catfish (Teleostei: Sisoridae) from the Brahmaputra River drainage, Arunachal Pradesh, Northeast India.

Glyptothorax heokheei, a new species of sisorid catfish is described from the Brahmaputra River drainage in India. It can be distinguished from all congeners, exceptG. dikrongensis,G. indicus,G. rugimentumandG. obliquimaculatus, in having the unculiferous striae of thoracic adhesive apparatus extending anteriorly onto gular region.Glyptothorax heokheeiis distinguished fromG. dikrongensisandG. obliquimaculatusin having a slender body at the anus, more serrations on posterior margin of pectoral-fin spine, greater number of branched anal fin rays, and the extremity of dorsoposterior margin of adipose fin uniformly convex (vs. sharply angular). Glyptothorax siangensis, a New Species of Catfish (Sisoridae) from the Brahmaputra River Drainage, Arunachal Pradesh, India

Glyptothorax siangensis, new species, is described from the Siang River in Arunachal Pradesh, India. The new species can be distinguished from its congeners from the Ganga-Brahmaputra drainage and its neighbouring drainages by the following combination of characters: a thoracic adhesive apparatus with skin ridges present over almost the entire apparatus, including the sword-shaped median depression, which is narrowly opened posteriorly; an elongated dorsal spine distinctly greater than body depth at its origin, posteriorly serrated with 11–17 serrae; nuchal plate saddle-like with W-shaped extensions; shallow body depth; long nasal barbel, almost reaching the anterior margin of eye; a complete longitudinal black band across the distal half of dorsal-fin; and tips of neural spines extension visible as a row of ridges between dorsal-fin base and origin of procurrent rays of caudal-fin. This is the nineteenth species of Glyptothorax known from the Ganga-Brahmaputra drainage.

Glyptothorax prionotos, a new sisorid catfish from Myanmar and Thailand (Teleostei: Siluriformes: Sisoridae)

ABSTRACT Glyptothorax prionotos, a new species of sisorid catfish from the Salween drainage in southern Myanmar and western Thailand, is described. It differs from its Indochinese congeners by a combination of colour pattern, thoracic adhesive apparatus morphology, dorsal spine morphology, and morphometry (with particular regards to the head, body depth, adipose and caudal fins, and caudal peduncle). The taxonomic status and identity of G. chavomensis is also briefly discussed.

Glyptothorax viridis, a new species of catfish (Teleostei: Siluriformes: Sisoridae) from Manipur, India.

Glyptothorax viridis, new species, is described from the Dujang, a hill stream tributary of the Chakpi River, Chindwin drainage in Manipur, India. It is distinguished from its congeners by the following combination of characters: presence of plicae on paired fins; thoracic adhesive apparatus with a deep, cone-shaped median depression opening caudally; a slender pelvic fin reaching the anal fin, and tuberculated skin with three stripes on the body.

Pseudolaguvia permaris, a new catfish from the Eastern Ghats of India (Teleostei: Sisoridae).

Pseudolaguvia permaris, a new sisorid catfish is described from the Mahanadi River basin in Odisha, India. The new species can be distinguished from congeners in having the following combination of characters: serrated anterior margin of dorsal-fin spine, thoracic adhesive apparatus not extending beyond base of last pectoral-fin ray, caudal peduncle depth 8.6-10.2% SL, body depth at anus 15.3-20.2% SL, adipose-fin base length 13.6-18.1% SL, dorsal to adipose distance 11.4-14.4% SL, length of pectoral-fin spine 19.3-28.0% SL, length of dorsal-fin spine 16.5-20.4% SL, head width 21.6-25.9% SL and indistinct, creamish bands on the body.

Glyptothorax sardashtensis, a new species of torrent catfish from the upper Lesser Zab drainage in Iran (Teleostei: Sisoridae).

Glyptothorax sardashtensis, new species, from the upper Lesser Zab in Iran, is distinguished from its congeners in the Persian Gulf basin by: a plain flank without black or brown blotches; a wide and round anterior margin of the medial pit in the thoracic adhesive apparatus; few, short median striae in the thoracic adhesive apparatus; three yellowish blotches arranged in a crescent-shaped arch on the nuchal plate in front of the dorsal-fin origin; no tubercles on the head and flank; and a short adipose fin. The new species is also distinguished by a minimum K2P sequence divergence of 2.16% in the mtDNA-COI barcode region from G. daemon and G. galaxias, its closest relatives. Glyptothorax kurdistanicus is re-discovered close to its type locality.

Glyptothorax irroratus, a new species of rheophilic catfish from the Mekong River drainage (Actinopterygii: Siluriformes: Sisoridae)

ABSTRACT Glyptothorax irroratus, a new species of sisorid catfish from the Mekong River drainage in Laos and China, is described. Pseudolaguvia meghalayaensis, a new diminutive sisorid catfish (Teleostei: Siluriformes) from Northeastern India

Pseudolaguvia meghalayaensis, a new diminutive sisorid catfish, is described from the confluence of Rongkil and Rongdal streams (tributaries of the Brahmaputra River) in Meghalaya, India. It is distinguished from its congeners by a combination of characters: striae in thoracic adhesive apparatus strongly anastomosing and break up into small rounded plaques posteromedially, smooth anterior edge of dorsal spine, 8 branched pectoral-fin rays, supraoccipital spine not reaching nuchal shield, pectoral-fin length 17.120.1% standard length (SL), predorsal length 40.443.8% SL, preanal length 71.173.1% SL, body depth at anus 15.618.1% SL, anal-fin base length 12.212.7% SL, and post adipose fin length12.312.6% SL.

Glyptothorax yuensis, a new species of sisorid catfish (Teleostei: Sisoridae) from Myanmar.

Glyptothorax yuensis, new species, is described from the Yu River, Sagaing division, Myanmar. It is characteristic in having a shallow adipose fin acutely incised at the posterior extremity of its base with an elongated pointed tip, adipose-fin base length 7.610.0 % SL; short nasal barbel, not extending to anterior margin of orbit; thoracic adhesive apparatus present with a conical-shaped median depression opening caudally, its length 11.713.0% SL and width 8.210.1% SL, anteromedial striae present; deep caudal peduncle, its depth 9.411.0 % SL; and two thin yellowish stripes on the body. A key to the species of the genus of Chindwin drainage is provided.

A new sisorid catfish of the genus Pseudolaguvia (Teleostei: Sisoridae) from Nagaland, north-eastern India.

Pseudolaguvia vespa, new species, is described from the Tscha River, Mokokchung district, Nagaland, India. The new species can be distinguished from congeners in having the following combination of characters: length of dorsal-fin spine 12.316.8% SL, a smooth anterior edge of the dorsal-fin spine, caudal peduncle depth 9.010.5% SL, body depth at anus 15.617.7% SL, caudal fin length 20.724.5% SL, pectoral fin length 20.124.1% SL, interorbital distance 22.728.1% SL, thoracic adhesive apparatus extending to midway between base of last pectoral-fin ray and pelvic-fin origin, and live specimens with two irregular, chrome-yellow bands on the body.

Five new species of the sisorid catfish genus Glyptothorax from Iran (Teleostei: Sisoridae).

Five new species of Glyptothorax are described from Iran. Glyptothorax alidaeii, new species, from the Seimare in the Karkheh drainage, G. galaxias, new species, from the upper Karun drainage, G. hosseinpanahii, new species, from the Zohreh drainage, G. pallens, new species, from the Sirvan drainage, and G. shapuri, new species, from Shapur in the Helleh drainage. Glyptothorax silviae from the Jarrahi drainage is re-diagnosed. All six species are morphologically distinguishable by the structure of the thoracic adhesive apparatus, as well as morphometric characters and details in the colour pattern. They form distinct mitochondrial clades between 1.2% and 4.1% minimum K2P distance based on the mitochondrial DNA barcode region.

A new species of Glyptothorax (Teleostei: Sisoridae) from the Brahmaputra River basin, Arunachal Pradesh, India.

Glyptothorax rupiri, a new sisorid catfish, is described from the Brahmaputra River basin in Arunachal Pradesh, northeast India. It differs from its congeners in the Indian subcontinent by the following combination of characters: the presence of plicae on the ventral surface of the pectoral spine and first pelvic-fin ray; a posteriorly serrated dorsal-fin spine, its length 11.312.2% SL; body depth at anus 11.213.4% SL; a thoracic adhesive apparatus longer than broad, with a V-shaped median depression which opens posteriorly; an arrow-shaped anterior nuchal plate element; adipose-fin base length 10.912.6% SL; nasal barbel not reaching anterior orbital margin; 1418 serrae on posterior margin of the pectoral-fin spine; body with two longitudinal pale-cream stripes; densely tuberculated skin; and the presence of numerous tubercles on the dorsal surface of pectoral and pelvic-fin rays.

The Glyptothorax catfishes of the Euphrates and Tigris with the description of a new species (Teleostei: Sisoridae).

The Glyptothorax species inhabiting the Euphrates and Tigris drainages are reviewed and six species are recognised, one of which is described herein as new species. Glyptothorax armeniacus is endemic to headwater streams in the Euphrates drainage. Glyptothorax kurdistanicus is endemic to the upper Tigris downstream to the Lesser Zab drainage. Glyptothorax cous and G. steindachneri are riverine species widespread in both the Euphrates and Tigris drainages. Glyptothorax silviae is endemic to Iran. Glyptothorax daemon, new species, from the Greater Zab and Yanarsu in the upper Tigris drainage, is distinguished by having the thoracic adhesive apparatus strongly elevated, 1.11.2 times longer than wide, without tubercles on the head, well developed anteromedial striae, the medial pit without striae, and a short adipose fin. Glyptothorax daemon is separated into two mitochondrial lineages, externally indistinguishable and separated by a minimum K2P distance of 2.0% in the DNA barcode region. These lineages are paraphyletic in our analysis indicating past introgressive hybridisation with G. cous. All six species are diagnosed and all, except unstudied G. steindachneri, form distinct mitochondrial clades with between 1.2% and 3.4% minimum K2P distance between them. Species from the Euphrates and Tigris form a monophyletic mitochondrial group separated from 53 other Glyptothorax species studied from India and areas further east.

A Novel Species of Sisorid Catfish, <I>Pseudecheneis nagalandensis</I> sp. nov., (Teleostei: Sisoridae) from the Chindwin Basin of Nagaland, India

A novel sisorid catfish, Pseudecheneis nagalandensis sp. nov., collected from the Tizu River, Chindwin Basin, Nagaland, northeast India is described. This new species differs from its congeners due to the presence of a long ray of pelvic fin that extends up to anal-fin origin, slender caudal peduncle and the thoracic adhesive apparatus with 13−14 transverse ridges which are separated by grooves. This is the only species of the genus Pseudecheneis currently known from Nagaland.

<i>Glyptothorax distichus</i>, a New Species of Catfish (Teleostei: Sisoridae) from Mizoram, North-Eastern India

A new sisorid catfish, Glyptothorax distichus, is described from the Barak-Meghna-Surma drainage in Mizoram, North-east India. It is distinguished from its congeners in having a combination of the following characters: a chevron-shaped thoracic adhesive apparatus, with poorly developed median depression that is widely opened posteriorly by skin ridges; short dorsal fin spine; short and slender caudal peduncle; unculiferous ridges of adhesive apparatus not extending anteriorly onto gular region; absence of plicate on ventral surfaces first pectoral and pelvic fins rays, smooth skin on head and body; presence of two broad pale cream longitudinal stripes on body; and 20 + 17 Vertebrae.

Glyptothorax gopii, a new species of catfish (Teleostei: Sisoridae) fromMizoram, north-eastern India.

Glyptothorax gopii, a new sisorid catfish, is described from the Kaladan River drainage in Mizoram, northeast India. It is distinguished from its congeners in the Indian subcontinent by the combination of the following characters: an axe-shaped anterior nuchal plate element extensively in contact with the posterior nuchal plate, plicae present on the ventral surfaces of the pectoral-fin spine and outer rays of pelvic-fin rays, an elliptical thoracic adhesive apparatus, the nasal barbel not reaching the anterior margin of the eye, tuberculate skin, and two pale cream longitudinal stripes on the body. Glyptothorax alaknandi is considered a valid species.

The Glyptothorax of the Bolaven Plateau, Laos (Teleostei: Sisoridae): new and endangered.

Glyptothorax forabilis, new species, and G. porrectus, new species, are described from the Bolaven Plateau in southern Laos. Both species closely resemble G. laosensis, but can be distinguished from it and other Indochinese congeners by combinations of color pattern, morphometry (with particular regards to the eye, body depth, and caudal peduncle) and thoracic adhesive apparatus morphology. Both species are endemic to the Bolaven Plateau, have a very limited distribution and are threatened by hydropower and agricultural activities.

The Glyptothorax of Sundaland: a revisionary study (Teleostei: Sisoridae).

The species of Glyptothorax of Sundaic Southeast Asia (Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo and Java) are revised in this study. A total of 17 species are recognized, of which six (G. amnestus, G. decussatus, G. famelicus, G. keluk, G. pictus and G. stibaros) are described as new here. A lectotype is designated for G. platypogon. The Sundaic Glyptothorax species are diagnosed by combinations of color pattern, morphometry (with particular regard to the eye, head, body depth, and caudal peduncle), dorsal-spine and thoracic adhesive apparatus morphology.

Glyptothorax mibangi, a new species of catfish (Teleostei: Sisoridae) from the Tisa River, Arunachal Pradesh, northeast India.

Glyptothorax mibangi, a new sisorid catfish, is described from the Tisa River of Arunachal Pradesh, India. The new species can be distinguished from its congeners in the Ganga-Brahmaputra and Barak-Surma-Meghna basins by the following combination of characters: an obtuse leaf-shaped thoracic adhesive apparatus with a spindle-shaped median depression, skin ridges present over the entire apparatus including the depressed region; ventral surface of pectoral spine and first pelvic-fin ray non-plaited; slender body with depth of 10.4-13.5% SL; caudal peduncle shallow with depth 6.8-8.3% SL; snout long with length 52.9-58.6% HL; and 2+7 gill rakers on the first branchial arch.
