In this study, three kinds of Cu-Nd alloys were prepared. The effect of Nd content on the dynamic impact behavior of the Cu-Nd alloys and its strengthening mechanism were studied. The results show that during the dynamic impact process, nano-scale oxide particles are precipitated in the alloy matrix, and a large number of cracks are formed along the grain boundaries, and the formation of shear bands and thermal grooves are also observed in local areas. With the increase of Nd content, the compressive strength of the alloys increases significantly, the grain size is refined, the number of twins increases, the grooves are much deeper and the number of the precipitated nano-oxide particles also increase significantly. In addition, due to the refinement of the grain size, the crack length is reduced. The increase of the alloy strength is mainly attributed to the nano-scale oxide precipitation strengthening and grain refinement strengthening.
