<p style="text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US">The article presents the results of a master’s study of the specifics of the parental identity of substitute mothers with teenage children. Parental attitudes, the degree of acceptance of the parental role, the ratio of ideas about the ideal mother and about oneself as a mother, the stage of personal identity were considered as components of their parental identity. It is proved that the identity of foster mothers has its own specifics, which is expressed in inconsistency, insufficient acceptance of the parental position, attitudes towards an overprotective parenting style of foster children, insufficient attention to the emotional side of the relationship with the child, with higher assessments of their parental competencies compared to biological mothers. The study involved 60 mothers, 30 of whom raised their own children and 30 adopted ones.</span></p>

Sun exposure and challenges of sun protection in adolescents and young adults: A prevalence observational study.

The present study aimed to explore the adherence to and efficiency of skin protection measures among teenagers and young adults. The present study investigated the reasons for sun exposure and the obstacles impeding sun protection. In the summer of 2023, a self-reported questionnaire was posted on the social media account of two high schools, a university, some industrial companies and among the teenage children of a dermatology clinic. Descriptive statistics and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to assess the reasons for sun exposure behavior, sun protection measures and the frequency of sunburn among individuals aged 15 to 25 year. A total of 517 young individuals completed the questionnaire. It was found that 43.5% use a hat as a means of sun protection, and only 10% try to limit their exposure to the sun. Nevertheless, 78.7% indicate the use of sun cream, 61.7% expose themselves frequently or very frequently to the sun, and 51.2% exposed themselves to the sun for tanning. Young females were statistically more prone to tan [odds ratio (OR), 2.95; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.95-4.46] P=0.03 than males. Males exposed themselves to a 3-fold greater extent during recreational activities (OR, 2.98; 95% CI, 1.56-5.69) P=0,025, compared to females. On the whole, the present study demonstrates that young individuals aged 15 to 25 years are exposing themselves too frequently to the sun. A large proportion of individuals still wishes to acquire a tan. Even if the large majority of individuals uses sunscreen, the majority of these do not protect themselves correctly since they report becoming sunburnt frequently.

Adolescent pregnancy, maternal and child anaemia: Empirical analysis from India, Bangladesh, and Nigeria.

Early childbearing poses several potential risks to maternal and child health. This paper empirically analyses the association between teenage pregnancy and child nutritional status, maternal and child anaemia in three countries (Nigeria, India and Bangladesh) that account for the highest proportion of teenage births and/or total number of malnourished teenage mothers and children. Data were sourced from nine waves of Demographic and Health Surveys conducted in Bangladesh, India, and Nigeria from 2005-2018, covering a sample of 27,705 children from Bangladesh, 266,308 children from India and 54,719 children from Nigeria. Our outcome measures of maternal and child nutrition include (i) a composite measure of anthropometric failure for children (CIAF), (ii) maternal anaemia, (iii) childhood anaemia, and (iv) anaemia in maternal-child pairs. Using multivariate regression analysis, we examine the associations between early childbirth, child nutrition, and maternal and child anaemia, controlling for an array of household-level socioeconomic and demographic characteristics. Across all three countries, the prevalence of CIAF (childhood anthropometric failure) is significantly higher among children born to women aged below 17 at first birth. We further find that early pregnancy and childbearing are associated with significantly higher rates of severe/moderate anaemia among both mothers and children in Bangladesh and Nigeria. In the three countries studied, the proportions of teenage mothers with vulnerable socioeconomic status and suboptimal pre-conception care are relatively high, which raises the risk of maternal and child morbidity as well as mortality.

The Perils of Service Provision in Unsafe Areas: Providing Continuing Services to Youth during Gang Violence in the Cape Flats, South Africa

Youth involvement in criminal gangs is rife in a particular area of Cape Town, the capital city of Western Cape, South Africa, known as the Cape Flats. But the Cape Flats is not unique and the youth’s susceptibility to join these gangs cuts across cultures and societies. Wherever there is marginalisation and disadvantage, social issues emerge that are difficult to combat because of systemic and structural barriers. Community workers and those who live in these areas are often at their wits end trying to combat the allure that gang membership holds for their teenage children. This article reports on a study that was part of a larger research study conducted between 2016–2018 by social work students at a university situated in the area. The article reflects the findings of the 2018 study that focused on the perceptions and experiences of those who work or provide services in the area. The aim of the study was to explore the participants’ experiences of gang violence during service provision and their opinions about ways to address their concerns. A qualitative approach, utilising an intervention mapping design was used. Individual interviews were conducted with 325 service providers on the Cape Flats. Two main themes emerged from thematic data analysis, namely, impact on service providers and service delivery, and suggested interventions and solutions. The implications of the findings are that the increasing violence has severe consequences on service provision in communities and is disruptive and traumatising to everybody involved.

"I'm not your grandpa": Experiences of advanced age fathers raising their teenage children in Belgium, an interpretative phenomenological analysis.

This study aims to gain more insight in the lived experience of men who became father at an advanced age (40 years or older). Advanced Parental Age (APA) is becoming an increasingly widespread phenomenon as the average age at which people have children has been increasing for decades now. However, the psychosocial dimension of APA-fatherhood in particular remains a highly understudied topic. This Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis presents findings from a qualitative interview study with seven men who fathered their (now teenage) children in their early 40s to early 50s. Interviews were semi-structured and focused on lived experiences of the participants and their normative stances regarding the topic of parenting at an advanced age. Three themes were identified: The fathers in our sample describe their APA as a result of life events rather than an intentional postponement. Second, they managed how they were perceived as APA-fathers by distancing themselves from 'too old' parents. However, these fathers did not perceive fatherhood at a younger age as better than their current APA. Three fathers, who also had an earlier fatherhood experience, provided a rich account of how they made sense of their fatherhood roles in both families. Third, the seven fathers encountered social stigma, leading to various coping strategies. These findings contribute to better understanding the psychosocial dimension of APA-fatherhood.

Choose life, not vapes: empowering teens to make healthier choices- a cross sectional study.

The tobacco epidemic is more than just a health concern. It is a socioeconomic one with far-reaching effects. Smoking being the most common mode of tobacco use worldwide, has an impact on human life and well-being. Hence, this study aimed to seek the knowledge and awareness of adolescents about e-cigarettes and spread awareness about the harmful effects of vapig so as to reduce the ongoing rise in cigarette consumption among these individuals. A questionnaire-based cross-sectional survey was conducted among 100 teenage children of urban schools in Delhi NCR of age group 14-17 years which collected information on teenage vaping practices, views about vaping,and their accessibility to vaping items. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Program for Social Sciences- SPSS version 25 through frequency and percent, graphs, Bar chart and Chi-squared test. A total 100 participants took part in the survey out of which of 59 were males and 41 were females. A significant proportion of the participants (94 %) possessed knowledge of e-cigarettes, and 14 % had actually used them at some point. Most of the participants were aware of the disposable variety of e-cigarettes and most of them thought that e-cigarettes were less addictive. A significant portion of educated young adults who have never vaped are susceptible to using e-cigarettes in the future. It is also discovered that e-cigarettes are still available and being promoted in spite of the restrictions. Inaddition to good health education for minors, more stringent enforcement of current rules and monitoring could help prevent larger uptake in the future.

Revisiting the Link between Workplace Support for Families, Family Support, Diet Quality, and Satisfaction with Food-Related Life in the Second Year of the Pandemic.

The main objective of this study was to examine the actor and partner effects between Perceived Workplace Support for Families (PWSFs) and family support (PFS), diet quality, and satisfaction with food-related life (SWFoL) in households with both parents working and adolescents, along with the role of the three family members' diet quality as a mediator. During the second year of the pandemic in Chile, 860 dual-earner parents of different sexes and their adolescent child (average age 13 years, with 50.7% being male) were recruited from two cities. Parents responded to a measure of PWSFs and the Perceived Family Support Scale. Mothers, fathers, and adolescents answered the Adapted Healthy Eating Index (AHEI) and the satisfaction with food-related life Scale. The examination employed the mediation Actor-Partner Interdependence Model and structural equation modeling for the analyses. Results showed that mothers' PWSFs improved their and their teenage children's SWFoL, while fathers' PWSFs only improved their SWFoL. The mothers' PFS improved their and the fathers' diet quality while enhancing their SWFoL and the adolescents' SWFoL. The fathers' PFS enhanced their and the adolescents' SWFoL. The mothers' PFS also indirectly enhanced their and the fathers' SWFoL via each parent's diet quality. Each family member's diet quality was positively related to their SWFoL, while mothers' diet quality was positively related to the fathers' SWFoL. These results imply that resources obtained by parents from PFS positively impact the SWFoL of the three family members through different mechanisms. They also highlight the importance of maternal family support for SWFoL during the pandemic.

Content Analysis Tiktok on the Appearance Style of Teenagers in Belopa City, Luwu Regency

The TikTok application has become very popular among children, teenagers, and parents. No wonder that today's children have a cool and unique style of appearance, because they often see TikTok content that recommends trending outfits. This research is motivated by the impact of TikTok content on the appearance style of minors in Belopa City, Luwu Regency.This research uses a qualitative descriptive method of case study type. This study provides a picture of the reality of the impact of TikTok content that affects changes in children's appearance styles. This research is field research by making direct observations, in order to obtain accurate data, in accordance with the formulation of the problem in the research title (1) How is the impact of tiktok content on the appearance style of children under adolescence (2) Communication efforts made in preventing the negative impact of tiktok content. This research uses new media theory and imitation theory.The impact of TikTok content on the appearance style of minors which shows that the average teenage child begins to imitate to look like an adult through the TikTok application and uses the TikTok application as a tool for finding ideas for their outfit in appearance. The communication effort made is to educate their children properly and then their children want to listen to their parents in receiving advice.

PARENTAL ACCEPTANCE OF PREMARITAL PREGNANCY AMONG UNDERAGE ADOLESCENTS IN TERMS OF RELIGION AND PSYCHOLOGY IN CINTA MAKMUR VILLAGE - LABUHANBATU

Premarital pregnancy among underage adolescents is a complex and problematic social phenomenon in Indonesia. Cinta Makmur Village in Labuhanbatu is one of the case studies with a high prevalence. This study aims to understand parental self-acceptance of premarital pregnancy among underage adolescents in the village and the factors that influence it. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews with 2 pairs of parents who have teenage children who are pregnant premaritally, and documentation to support the research findings. The results of the study show that parental self-acceptance of premarital pregnancy among underage adolescents in Cinta Makmur Village varies. Some parents accept premarital pregnancy and try to help their children, while others reject and blame their children. Factors that influence parental self-acceptance include age, education, socioeconomic status, religious and cultural values, and social support. This study provides an important contribution to the understanding of parental self-acceptance of premarital pregnancy among underage adolescents in Indonesia. These factors need to be considered in efforts to prevent and manage premarital pregnancy among adolescents. The findings of this study can be used to develop intervention programs aimed at improving parental self-acceptance and reducing stigma associated with premarital pregnancy.

A tourist facility with a ban on children playing: The principle of non-discrimination and the statement of the Bulgarian court

Recently, both in Bulgaria and abroad, it is increasingly common to find accommodation, restaurants and entertainment facilities that advertise and offer a wide range of services. However, these are not intended for general consumers but only those who have reached maturity (excluding minors and the under-aged). According to press publications hotels and restaurants that pre-select their guests based on their age are mainly concentrated on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast and in the mountains or they specialize in spa and balneo procedures. It turns out that consumers find it easier to stay with a pet, albeit at an extra cost, than go on vacation with their teenage children. Such practices adopted by representatives of the tourism industry raise some questions of a moral, ethical and legal nature. The current article traces the development of a specific administrative and judicial proceeding initiated to establish the presence of discrimination against consumers in a tourist facility – a restaurant. An overview of the claims and arguments of the claimant is made as well as an analysis of the reasons and considerations given by the competent administrative and judicial authorities. The author’s opinion on the issue is expressed.

Attachment & Loneliness: Study of First-Time Adult Women Experiencing Parental Divorce

This study is aimed at investigate the role of attachment to loneliness for early adult children in experiencing parental divorce. Qualitative research was used. The population in this study were all girls whose parents experienced divorce. The sampling technique uses incidental sampling. The sample for this study consisted of 104 children aged 18-25 years. The primary data in this study were teenage children who had experience of their parents' divorce. Research data was obtained from teenagers and adults through interviews. The data analysis technique used in this research is quantitative-descriptive analysis. The results of this finding found that there was an effect of attachment to loneliness of early adult female experiencing parental divorce. Additional analysis of the type of attachement was carried out in this study using Relationship Quistionnaire (RQ), discovered that fearful subject’s has the high correlation. There was a difference between the father-attachment and the mother-attachment. Furthermore, age at the time of the divorce it is found to be associated with loneliness as an adult.

Suivi de la prise en charge scolaire et médicosociale des enfants inclus dans le registre des handicaps de l’enfant de Guyane : entre théorie et réalité

IntroductionIn France, to benefit from appropriate medical, social and educational care, children with autism spectrum disorders must obtain a referral from the Maison Départementale des Personnes Handicapées (MDPH), and these notifications must then be implemented. In French Guiana, social and territorial inequalities in health are omnipresent. However, there are no data on the care of adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder in French Guiana. Aim and methodologyThe aim of the project was to explore the educational and medico-social pathways of children included in Guiana's autism spectrum disorder register since 2016 (who were living in Guiana in 2016 and whose ASD had been diagnosed before their 8th birthday) by means of a telephone interview and data collection at the MDPH. We included 52 young people aged 11 to 18, including 40 families contacted by telephone. The results obtained through the variables collected show that, despite a diagnosis made before the age of 8, only 29 young people (out of 47 completed) benefit from medical, social and educational care that coincides with the recommendations of the current Commission des droits et de l’autonomie des personnes handicapées (CDAPH). ResultsOf the 52 young people monitored, at least nine – or 17.3% – were not receiving any form of education. Thirty one young people were receiving medical, social, health and/or educational care at the time of the survey, compared with 16 who were not receiving any, mainly because they had been on a waiting list for an average of five years. In addition, 34% said they were not satisfied with the overall care their child received, mainly because of staff shortages. ConclusionIn conclusion, in French Guiana, there is a significant gap between what is recommended to parents for their teenage child's care and what is actually possible.

Contemporary Dance As A Communication Media Between Generations Case Study: Empowering Family Welfare In Dadap Village, South Tangerang City

Contemporary dance is a dance art that is popular with not only Generation Z but also the millennial generation, which is currently the age of parents who already have teenage children. The increasing problems in children and adolescents that occur today are often caused by a lack of good internal communication through interpersonal communication between parents and their children. As the growth of digital media consumption, especially social media, occurs in Indonesia, it also affects the lack of communication within the family or even between neighbors, making it difficult to communicate and coordinate with each other. Through this research, it is hoped that it can help mothers and young women to be able to make dance a medium of communication between generations to be able to create harmonious and useful collaborative activities in fostering communication not only for the smallest social environment, namely the family but also for the community of Dadap village residents to create harmonious relationships between residents, especially between generations.

Parental Responses to Online Sexual Grooming Events Experienced by Their Teenage Children.

Online sexual grooming (a manipulative process in which the perpetrator locates a young person and creates an abusive relationship with the child that involves sexual exploitation) poses significant challenges to parents. This study examined how parents of adolescent victims of online sexual grooming experienced guiding their children through the event. This qualitative study, conducted in Israel, was based on semi-structured in-depth interviews with 15 parents who guided their adolescents who had been subjected to online sexual grooming. Results indicate that the parents reported a spectrum of emotions, from insecurity and guilt to a sense of control and satisfaction in managing the situation. Also, the reluctance of some parents to engage with the education system indicates potential trust issues. The study demonstrates the urgent need for targeted interventions to equip parents and educational professionals with the necessary knowledge for prevention and effective response to online sexual grooming. Implications for future research, policy, and practice are discussed.

How Do Attitudes of Adult Children Toward Long-Term Care Change with Education? International Evidence

ABSTRACT Global demographic trends indicate that the world population is aging and education acquisition is increasing. For the first time in history, people are expected to spend more years as adults with living parents than as a parent of teenage children, and the average years of schooling have increased dramatically over the past several decades for many countries. Additionally, family-provided care is still the most important form of care to meet care demands worldwide. As strong filial norms could affect older adults’ long-term care decision-making, understanding the link between filial obligations and education is critical under these trends. Using individual data from the World Values Survey and an instrumental variables strategy to account for endogeneity, this study finds that adult children with higher education levels have lower filial beliefs. Since population aging is expected to increase the demand for long-term care services, and education can reduce the supply of family-provided long-term care services, countries must start addressing this gap.

PSYCHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CHILDREN AND PARENTS IN ADOLESCENCE

This article provides feedback and insights into the psychological analysis of adolescent child and parent relationships. The relationship between teenage children and their parents is often portrayed as turbulent, filled with misunderstandings, and marked by conflict. While this stereotype holds some truth, it oversimplifies the complex and dynamic nature of these relationships. Psychological analysis reveals that the parent-teen relationship is a critical aspect of adolescent development, influenced by various factors, including communication styles, emotional regulation, and social influences.

Pola Asuh Orang Tua Single Parents dalam Menanggulangi Kenakalan Remaja di Kelurahan Karang Maritim Kecamatan Panjang Bandar Lampung

The purpose of this study is to determine the parenting style applied by parents, especially Single Parents mothers in overcoming juvenile delinquency, the causes of juvenile delinquency, solutions to juvenile delinquency aged 12-18 years in Karang Maritim Village, Panjang District, Bandar Lampung City. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method, which aims to describe and explain the state of the object under study as it occurs in the field. This research was conducted in Kelurahan Karang Maritim, Panjang District, Bandar Lampung. The subjects and informants in this study were mothers (single parents) and their teenage children aged 12-18 years. Data collection is carried out by observation to the field, interviews with informants, and documentation related to research. The results showed (1) Parenting styles in overcoming juvenile delinquency can be said to be less than optimal, due to parenting that is too restrictive (Authoritarian), as well as parenting that is too liberating (Permissive) so as to cause deviant behavior changes in the form of delinquency such as smoking, skipping school, brawling, returning home late at night for no apparent reason, saying dirty, and playing mobile phones until they forget the time, And there are few parents who use democratic parenting in educating children.

STRATEGI KUA KECAMATAN BANYUANYAR DALAM PENCEGAHAN PERNIKAHAN DINI

The purpose of this study is to analyze the strategic steps of the Banyuanyar District KUA to the community so that early marriage can be prevented by providing prevention efforts either through meetings with the community, especially women who have teenage children, or meetings or socialization to schools so that students understand early marriage. This study is a field study and uses a qualitative approach, and is analyzed descriptively. Data collection obtained directly based on the results of observations and interviews with sources at the location of a case or event being studied which was carried out directly by the researcher. The location of this research was carried out at the Banyuanyar District KUA office, Probolinggo Regency. The results of the study at the Banyuanyar District KUA are strategic steps in an effort to minimize or prevent early marriage which is carried out by providing a letter of rejection of early marriage. The Banyuanyar District KUA provides advice to prospective brides and grooms who are still underage so that there is no increase in early marriage. In implementing it, the KUA of Banyuanyar District provides direct socialization to teenagers in the form of character and mental development and training in order to reduce the high number of early marriages and additional funds are needed from the local government so that there is socialization of early marriage prevention either through the media or meetings in each region or area so that it can reduce or even suppress the number of early marriages. Subjective Assessment of Father – Teenage Child Interaction

The current dynamic socio-cultural processes lead to a qualitative revision of family roles, family relationships, and parenthood. The psychological interaction between parents has changed, as has the father’s status. This study featured the interaction between 40 fathers and their teenage children. The authors used the PARI method by E. S. Schaefer and R. K. Bell as adapted by T. V. Neshcheret, the Parent-Child Interaction method developed by I. M. Markovskaya, and J. Pleck’s Fatherhood and Masculinity Questionnaire. The consistency was determined by the Spearman’s correlation coefficient while the differences in the assessments provided by fathers and children were measured using the Mann – Whitney U test. For the teenagers, the main interaction indicator appeared to be the lack of strictness whereas their fathers stressed the emotional closeness. The comparative analysis revealed no significant differences between the assessments given by the fathers and the children: the father was described as not strict, accepting, cooperative, and consistent. Emotional closeness proved to be the most significant parameter in the father – teenage child interaction. Emotional closeness requires special attention from specialists that help parents and children overcome the adolescent crisis.

Characteristics of Families with Family Duties in the Prevention of Premarital Sexual Behavior in Adolescent Children in the Working Area of Sunyaragi Health Center Cirebon

Disseminating societal standards and values begins with the family, considered the most significant institution for an individual. The family serves as a mold for a child's conduct and mindset, particularly during their teenage years. Finding out how family chores and features relate to preventing premarital sex behavior among teenage children working in the village health center of Cirebon City was the aim of this study. The study design used in this study is cross-sectional and descriptive correlational. Thirty-two individuals were sampled using the random sampling technique. A survey is the tool that is employed. Chi-square analysis of data. June 2021: Study location at Puskesmas Sunyaragi Cirebon City Work Area. The study's findings indicate that the majority of married families—sixteen (18.8%)—are separated or divorced; separated or not, three houses—nineteen (9.4%)—interact and communicate negatively; and families with as many as twenty-six (81.3%) have a single culture. H0 was rejected, as indicated by the p-value <α derived from the chi-square test findings. In the Sunyaragi Health Clinic in Cirebon City, there is a correlation between homeownership, family responsibilities, and marital status when it comes to preventing premarital sex activity in teenage children. The P-value is 0.002, α is 0.05. Advice from parents or other family members to shield adolescents from harmful influences and steer clear of undesirable sexual behavior.
