This is the proceedings for 2024 2nd International Conference on Researches in Educational Technology and Psychological Sciences (RETPS 2024). This conference was held on October 12-13, 2024 in Houston, USA, and it was a very successful joint conference by four countries namely China, United States, Canada, and New Zealand. Papers from educational technology, public management, psychology, humanities, and social science were well represented in this volume and we hope that these contributions will continue to play a large part in future RETPS conferences. RETPS 2024 also fosters cooperation among organizations and researchers involved in the merging fields and provides in-depth technical presentations with ample opportunities for one-on-one discussions with the presenters. We wish to thank each and every member of the proceeding editors and local technical committee. Many people contributed to the success of the conference, and the organisers specially would like to thank the reviewer team. AN EFFICIENT METHOD TO EVALUATE AND ENHANCE SPORT JUDGES’ PERFORMANCE DURING COMPETITION: A CASE STUDY IN ACROBATIC GYMNASTICS

Who judges the gymnastics judges? How do we measure their accuracy and concordance? How do we know if the judging process is fair? The superior jury has this responsibility. However, they normally lack time to provide effective feedback during competitions. Using macro functions to process statistical and mathematical statements, we designed and validated an automated Excel-based tool called the Automatic Acrobatic Gymnastics Judges Individual Report Tool to evaluate judges’ performances quickly and easily during competition, automatically creating and exporting individual reports showing each judge’s accuracy and concordance performance on a daily basis, rather than after the competition is ended. We present empirical data for 76 experienced international judges evaluating acrobatic gymnastics routines in four major official events. A total of 1240 individual reports were analyzed and sent confidentially to the judges during the competition, and 952 were analyzed to evaluate whether this feedback was effective in improving judges’ performance during the competition. The tool provides efficient and easily understood evidence-based feedback on acrobatic gymnastics judges’ performance during competition, quickly and automatically creating, analyzing and sending individualized information to judges, thus helping with specific Technical Committee scoring control tasks during competitions. We suggest that judges' performances remain high or are enhanced after receiving daily evaluation during major competition events.

Institutionalising guideline development in a new universal healthcare system: a study in Cyprus

Abstract Issue Guideline development is a lengthy and diligent process that involves the assessment and interpretation of evidence by a committee. Whilst the implementation of high quality healthcare guidelines ensures consistency and quality in healthcare delivery, many countries worldwide, including Cyprus, lack the capacity and resources to develop de novo guidelines. Description of the problem Guidelines developed by internationally recognised organisations, such as NICE, are a valuable resource for countries like Cyprus. The collaboration between NICE and the newly established healthcare system in Cyprus introduced a process for guideline institutionalisation, taking advantage of existing human resources and building guideline development capability in Cyprus. Results This process involved recruiting local professionals to form a guideline secretariat. The secretariat, supported by NICE, is responsible for overseeing the guideline development process including technical expert committee (TEC) recruitment and stakeholder consultation. The TEC contextualise an existing NICE guidelines to reflect local considerations. NICE provides quality assurance to ensure changes are contextual in nature and consistent with the underpinning evidence. Despite initial challenges, getting stakeholder buy-in and engaging healthcare professionals in the TEC, one contextualised guideline has been produced and two others are at the final stage. Lessons Guideline contextualisation is an efficient and sustainable way of building guideline development capability to institutionalize guidelines in settings with limited capacity. Key messages • De-novo guideline development is time consuming and demanding and many countries require an alternative process for producing locally relevant guidelines, capitalising on existing resources. • Support by an established organisation ensures quality, is less resource intensive, and builds capability for the sustainability of the process.

The 2024 International Conference on Mathematical Modeling, Algorithms and Data Processing (MMADP 2024) was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates during September 14-15, 2024. The conference is devoted to mathematical modeling, algorithms application, data processing, computer simulation, artificial intelligence, and scientific computing. It is an opportunity to academics, scientists, engineers, researchers, and scholars to discuss, to present, and to assess the results of their research work on recent developments. The primary goal of the conference is to promote research and developmental activities. Another goal is to promote scientific information interchange worldwide. The success of MMADP 2024 is due to the high scientific level of all the contributions as well as to the enthusiasm of all the attendees. The member of the technical committee did a precious job in selecting the papers that were accepted for presentation and for inclusion in this book of proceedings among those that were initially submitted. Evaluation of Promising Lines of Lai Patta (Brassica juncea var rugosa L.) Suitable for Cultivation in North Eastern India

The present study was carried out with ten accessions of laipatta (Brassica juncea var rugosa L.) in Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat in order to identify suitable high yielding variety(s) with desirable quality characters. The accessions viz., JorMLG-1, JorMLP-2, MLG-3, MLP-4, MLG-5, MLP-6, ShLG-7, KjLP-8, ChL-9 (Check), and KL-10(Check) were collected from different districts of Assam and North East. They were evaluated consecutively for three years in station trials in the Dept. of Horticulture, AAU, Jorhat for plant yield and other quantitative and quality characters. The accessions were tested in Multilocation trials in five research stations. In these trials. among all genotypes JorMLG-1 and JorMLP-2 were found to be the best for plant yield and other component characters. The On Farm trials conducted in 12 farmers’ fields in Jorhat and Kokrajhar districts of the state exhibited average plant yield of 350.1 q/ha in JorMLG-1 and 318.2 q/ha in JorMLP-2 with 34 – 48% yield increase over the best check variety (ChL-9). JorMLG-1was a green leaf variety whereas JorMLP-2 was a greenish purple variety. The edible leaves could be harvested upto 60 days in JorMLG-1 and 55 days in JorMLP-2 after transplanting till the initiation of bolters. However, the best check variety ChL-9 showed bolting at 25 days after transplanting. Estimation of quality characters revealed 147.6 mg ascorbic acid, 186 mg calcium and 11.21 mg iron per 100g in JorMLG-1 whereas 145.2 mg ascorbic acid, 176 mg calcium and 10.61 mg iron per 100g in JorMLP-2. They have been recommended in the Zonal Research Committee Meeting and Annual Technical Committee Meeting held at Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat during 2019-20 for release in the state of Assam. In view of yield performance, consumer preference and taste, the varieties are spreading very fast and getting popularity throughout entire NE states. However, more study is required on quality traits, genetic parameters and molecular aspects.

Effects of Inflow Turbulent Coherent Structures on a Small-Scale Wind Turbine in the Atmospheric Boundary Layer of Long Corridor Terrains: An Example Study in the Hexi Corridor

Considering its Venturi effect, long corridor terrain is considered as one of the outstanding wind-energy resources, but has not been developed due to unclear inflow turbulence effects on wind turbines. To advance the wind-power technology in long corridors and reveal the physics behind it, we conducted a series of data-fusion analyses combining field measurements in the Hexi Corridor, Gansu, China, and numerical simulations and summarize the effort here. In this study, the classical spectrum for the atmospheric boundary layer for wind-energy research, the IEC Kaimal spectrum (also known as IECKwind, International Elector technical Commission 61400-1) cannot describe the wind profile in corridors. Here, we proposed a new spectrum to describe the wind in the Hexi Corridor by modifying the IEC Kaimal spectrum, and we call it the IECK-HX spectrum. The results demonstrate that it preferentially resides at lower frequencies (larger spatial scales) compared with IECKwind. Large-scale motions (LSMs) and very large-scale motions (VLSMs) coexist in the Hexi Corridor atmospheric boundary layer, which can be well described by the IECK-HX spectrum, and these two dominate the large fluctuations in the power, thrust, and blade root flapwise moment of wind turbines, while the high-frequency small-scale coherent structures mainly cause high-frequency fluctuations in wind-turbine load. Furthermore, IEC Kaimal spectrum can not describe the VLSMs, and the generated flow presents significant fluctuations and thereby reduces the power output in high wind-speed regions. Digital Traffic Lights: UAS Collision Avoidance Strategy for Advanced Air Mobility Services

With the advancing development of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), there is a collaborative effort to increase safety in the airspace. AAM is an advancing field of aviation that aims to contribute to the safe transportation of goods and people using aerial vehicles. When aerial vehicles are operating in high-density locations such as urban areas, it can become crucial to incorporate collision avoidance systems. Currently, there are available pilot advisory systems such as Traffic Collision and Avoidance Systems (TCAS) providing assistance to manned aircraft, although there are currently no collision avoidance systems for autonomous flights. Standards Organizations such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA), and General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) are working to develop cooperative autonomous flights using UAS-to-UAS Communication in structured and unstructured airspaces. This paper presents a new approach for collision avoidance strategies within structured airspace known as “digital traffic lights”. The digital traffic lights are deployed over an area of land, controlling all UAVs that enter a potential collision zone and providing specific directions to mitigate a collision in the airspace. This strategy is proven through the results demonstrated through simulation in a Cesium Environment. With the deployment of the system, collision avoidance can be achieved for autonomous flights in all airspaces.

Wooden multistorey acoustic test facility for vibration reduction indices measurement on different junctions of floor decking used to reduce flanking transmissions

FCBA, CSTB and Cerqual joint forces together with the French acoustic wood technical commission, to create in 2020, an in-situ measurement mockup: the "Maquette Acoustique Bois". The mockup is a CLT based building of three floors construction, with four rooms on each level. Measurements from junction characterization to air-borne and impact sound insulations can be performed. In this paper the "Maquette Acoustique Bois" is used to measure vibration reductions levels indexes Kij, in different configurations, where smart building systems junctions are implemented to reduce flanking transmissions. Measurement results presented are generated from 4 types of junctions in between 2 rooms. The load bearing structure is Cross Laminated Timber (CLT). The measurement strategy is Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA). SEA involves cutting the structure into subsystems and decomposing the spectrum into third-octaves or octaves. In this way, the exchange of energy flow in the substructures can be analyzed. The parameters that govern vibrational transmission between subsystems are damping and coupling loss factors and can be identified experimentally by reversing the problem. The approach is, first, based on sub-structuring strategy of structure; second, on experimentally measured coupling and damping loss factors; third, on extracting vibration level difference one by one all flanking passes.

Recent advancements in Mechanical Engineering, particularly in areas such as thermo-fluids and system design, have spurred the need for comprehensive discussions on the development of associated sciences and their diverse applications worldwide. This initiative aimed to foster global awareness among researchers, including those who participated in our inaugural conference, ICTFSD 2022, and others from India and abroad eager to join our collaborative platform for exchanging ideas and showcasing local innovations. Thus, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi (India) organized the 2nd International Conference on Thermo-Fluids and System Design (ICTFSD) 2024 on April 4-5, 2024. The conference convened experts from academic institutions, research organizations, industries, and policymakers to facilitate in-depth interactions. Keynote speakers from India, the US, and Europe delivered talks on various applications within these fields. The conference was heavily supported through financial assistance from the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Government of India. Partial financial support was also received from private partners viz. ANSYS Inc., Entuple Technologies and COMSOL Multiphysics Pvt. Ltd. ICTFSD 2024 aimed to promote industry-relevant research in academic and research institutions, establishing networks for collaborative research and development. It identified emerging research areas while showcasing high-quality papers spanning both emerging and traditional fields. All conference papers underwent rigorous peer review by a technical committee, with select papers earmarked for publication in the Journal of Physics Conference Series, IOP Publications. The conference conveners and organizing secretaries, who also served as Editors of the Conference Series, extend gratitude to the Morressier team and the IOP publications team for helping us in the entire review and publication process. We especially acknowledge the valuable inputs of the expert reviewers for their pivotal role in quality check of the manuscripts. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all the conference sponsors, whose financial contributions were instrumental in making the event a success. Abstract With the continuous changes in material demand and the development of related disciplines driven by economic and social development, in recent years, material research has shown some new trends. The deep integration of material technology and information technology has deepened our understanding of material structure and performance, leading to more precise control over the material preparation process and functionality. The conference shares practical experiences and enlightening ideas from mateirals physics and appliacations and will be of interest to researchers in and practitioners everywhere. 2024 4th International Conference on Fluid and Chemical Engineering (ICFCE 2024) has been successfully held on July 26-27, 2024, in Wuhan China as a virtual event. Organized by Hubei Zhongke Institute of Geology and Environment Technology, ICFCE 2024 intends to invite worldwide famous scientists, experts, scholars, and researchers for academic presentations.
