Developing highly efficient electrocatalysts for water splitting is an effective strategy to promote renewable and sustainable energy resources. Multimetal high-entropy alloys (HEAs) have generated considerable attention as promising catalysts because of their unique properties. Herein, the porous HEA coatings have been prepared via the plasma spraying method, which is expected to resolve the above issues. The catalysts can afford a promising catalytic performance through the distinct porous structure. This work results that the CoCrFeNiAlMo catalyst possesses a tiny overpotential (253mV at 50mAcm-2) with minimal Tafel slope (59.75mV dec-1). At the same time, the CoCrFeNiAlMo catalyst also exhibits a relatively small overpotential for hydrogen evolution reaction. As catalysts for overall water splitting, it delivers a cell voltage of 1.74V at 50mAcm-2 and a superior durable for 48h. This research provides an insight for using the multinary HEA coatings as electrocatalysts in energy applications.
