How does digital inclusive finance improve rural economic resilience? Evidence from China

This study investigates the role of digital inclusive finance (DIF) in strengthening rural economic resilience in China. Analyzing data from 31 Chinese provinces over 2011–2020, it explores how DIF impacts rural economic resilience, considering factors like the market environment and rural transportation infrastructure. The research identifies the positive influence of DIF, particularly in regions with poor market environment and transportation infrastructure. It also highlights the mediating effects of increased rural entrepreneurship and the reduction of the urban–rural income gap on enhancing rural economic resilience. The findings underscore DIF's potential in promoting sustainable rural economic development.

The Influence of Gender on the Performance of Village-Owned Enterprises in the Province of East Java, Indonesia

Village-owned enterprises constitute a significant facet of the government's endeavours to bolster rural economic growth; however, the current scenario in Indonesia showcases a concerning trend of underperformance within these enterprises. This study delves into the impact of female managers on the performance of village-owned enterprises, employing cross-sectional data sourced from 100 such enterprises in East Java, Indonesia. The data was subjected to analysis through an ordered probit model. The principal finding of this study underscores the noteworthy and statistically significant influence exerted by female managers on the performance of village-owned enterprises. This observation implies that enterprises led by female managers tend to exhibit superior performance compared to those managed by their male counterparts. Concurrently, the study underscores the pivotal role of demographic profiles, such as age and education, in shaping managerial performance. These findings carry significant implications for policy formulation. They underscore the urgent need to enhance women's empowerment in rural areas, specifically by encouraging their active participation in village-owned enterprises. Additionally, the study underscores the broader importance of augmenting the knowledge and skills of both male and female managers. Such efforts hold the potential to substantially enhance the contributions of village-owned enterprises to Indonesia's economic landscape. In summary, the study's findings emphasize the pivotal role of female managers in boosting the performance of village-owned enterprises. These insights underscore the necessity of empowering women in rural settings and cultivating knowledge across genders. By addressing these imperatives, policymakers can harness the potential of village-owned enterprises for driving sustainable rural economic development in Indonesia.

Analysis of the Promotion Effect of Agricultural Economic Management on Rural Economic Development Based on VAR Model

Under the background of my country’s new rural construction and the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, the rural economy has ushered in an unprecedented opportunity for development. Agricultural economic management plays a catalytic role in providing direction guidance for rural economic development, promoting sustainable rural economic development, and providing a good environment for rural economic development. However, there are some drawbacks in agricultural economic management, which are mainly reflected in the imperfect agricultural economic management system and the lag in information infrastructure construction. In view of this, the author puts forward corresponding the advanced VAR model from the aspects of improving the agricultural economic management system, improving the application level of information technology, and improving the quality of the agricultural economic management team. Research shows that: through effective management of agricultural economy, the obstacles to agricultural economic development can be reduced from the source, thereby promoting the healthy and sustainable development of rural economy.

This article meticulously enumerates these challenges and proposes strategic pathways for the development of rural brokers engaged in contract farming. The Effect of Using Digital Marketing Platforms, Optimizing Potential Assets on the Inclusive and Sustainable Economy Improvement

This study aims to analyze the role of the green economy and digitalization for sustainable rural economic development. This research is quantitative descriptive research. The research was conducted in Manistutu Village, Jembrana Regency, Bali Province. Research data using primary sources were collected using a questionnaire with a Likert scale. Respondents in this study were the community and village officials who carried out activities using technical assistance in government activities, tourism, agriculture, and plantations. The research sample amounted to 70 people using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling. The results of the research were conducted to explain the importance of maintaining sustainable economic growth in the tourism, agriculture, and plantation sectors in the Jembrana Regency by using technology. Digital marketing platforms and optimizing the potential of village assets have a significant influence on growth in the inclusive and sustainable economic and financial sectors.

The Framework of RBL-STEAM Learning Activities: Designing Batik Motifs as Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Rural Economic Development to Improve Students' Historical Literacy

This paper aimed to build the RBL model of teaching activities framework combined with the STEAM approach, specifically by developing batik motifs as cultural heritage and sustainable rural economic development to increase students' historical literacy. This type of research employs a qualitative methodology. The first step in the research process is collecting literature and published papers on creating a framework for research-based learning activities integrated with the STEAM approach. The findings were presented in a table containing six stages, stage 1-6. Each stage is explaining how students learned to design Batik motifs using CorelDraw and Geogebra software while implementing the Research Based Learning Model of teaching with a STEAM approach. The primary finding of these studies relates to the STEAM integrated to the RBL model are to determine STEAM activity in designing batik motifs using Geogebra and CorelDraw software to increase students' historical literacy in described in stage 1-6. This study also included the construction of a test instrument framework for students' historical literacy. The implication is that the learning activities frame are ready to be continued to the development process of RBL-STEM learning materials in improving students' historical literacy in designing batik motifs as cultural heritage and sustainable rural economic development.

Ecological Environment and Poverty Governance Based on Deep Learning of Big Data

The ecological environment is the basic condition for human survival and development. Maintaining a good rural ecological environment is the basis for ensuring the sustainable development of agriculture and the rural economy, and it is the fundamental guarantee for helping poor rural areas to get rid of poverty and become rich. To solve poverty by developing tourism, the so-called tourism poverty alleviation has been studied for many years in the theoretical circles at home and abroad. Therefore, this article conducts research on China’s rural ecological environment management and poverty management based on big data deep learning, aiming to analyze the problems in China’s rural ecoenvironmental management and the challenges facing rural poverty governance and explore a way to achieve sustainable rural economic development and farmers’ poverty alleviation the best way. In the context of big data, environmental monitoring and governance have also ushered in innovative reforms. With the advantages of powerful information collection and data processing, big data provides comprehensive data and information support for environmental monitoring and governance. This article uses a survey method, data statistics method, literature analysis method, and case analysis method. Firstly, it briefly summarizes the main ecological and environmental problems and poverty management issues facing the rural areas of China. It then lists 5 successful poverty alleviation cases to investigate their poverty alleviation. The experience and methods of getting rich sum up the strategies that China can refer to for poverty alleviation. Finally, through the collection and compilation of online data, we have discovered the results achieved by China’s poverty alleviation work in recent years, i.e., by the end of 2019, our rural poverty population has been reduced to 5.1 million. Compared with 2013, there has been a reduction of approximately 90 million (Fang, 2019), however, at the same time, China’s poverty alleviation work has entered a stage of overcoming difficulties. The remaining poor people make it a long way to go. In short, improving the ecological environment to help rural poverty alleviation is a long-term people’s livelihood project, and it is also a research topic of great social significance. For this reason, the research in this article has a certain reference value.

How does religious belief promote farmer entrepreneurship in rural China?

We investigate whether and if so, how religious belief promotes farmer entrepreneurship in rural China. We find a significant and positive relationship between religious belief and farmer entrepreneurship. Our results show that a family member’s religious belief, especially a male member’s religious belief, spills over to the family’s engagement in farmer entrepreneurship. In addition, the religion effect is more pronounced in eastern China, where conditions for developing entrepreneurship are more favourable. We demonstrate that compared with Western religions, Eastern religions have a stronger influence on farmer entrepreneurship in China. Our results have important implications for policymakers in other developing economies who seek to achieve sustainable rural economic development.

One Village One Brand for Sustainable Rural Economic Development: A Three Stream Perspective

Brand is the concrete form to encourage the intellectual property right (IPR) awareness. IPR becomes key to promote the product abroad. However, there is still a little awareness about how to protect the IPR, in the rural business area particularly. Thus, it becomes necessary to create a brand in a village, which will cover all the rural masterpieces to encourage the rural economy and protect its potential. This strategy is called as one village one brand. OVOB “One Village One Brand” is initiated by APEC project of Korea Institute of intellectual property and this program supports the economic growth and development in the Asia Pacific region. This study focused on the Agenda Setting stage. This study aims to find out how the Agenda Setting process of One Village One brand (OVOB) program in Kediri Regency. This research uses descriptive-qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of literature review, observation, and documentation. The result found that the BUMDES “Karya Mandiri” OVOB Program Setting Agenda uses the Quick Decision Analysis method. Meanwhile, the Public Problem Priority Preparation Technique is used through the priority process of public problems, evaluating by stakeholders on policy alternatives, and inferring priority issues. The Agenda Setting process correspond to Three Stream Theory, that is, in terms of the Problem Stream, it is known that problem mapping is done by the rural government. By the Policy Stream, the single-issue background is the issue of lack of skills and infrastructure which is then reviewed and produces the OVOB program. According to Politics Stream, this program will get support from the village government and the budget is included in the APBD that supports what is then included in the village government work program and BUMDES.

Impact of off-farm income on household energy expenditures in China: Implications for rural energy transition

This study examines the impact of off-farm income on rural household energy expenditures, paying special attention to clean energies such as electricity and gas and non-clean energy such as coal. We use instrumental variable approaches to address the endogeneity issues of off-farm income and analyze household survey data collected from rural Gansu, Henan and Shandong provinces of China. Econometric results show that off-farm income promotes rural energy transition. In particular, off-farm income significantly increases both electricity and gas expenditures but decreases coal expenditure of rural households. Further analyses reveal that the energy transition effects generated by off-farm income are more pronounced for households in Shandong where the economy is relatively better developed relative to Henan and Gansu. Our findings highlight the importance of income diversification through off-farm activities by farm households to enhance clean energy accessibility and boost sustainable rural economic development.

Public Policy Instruments and Dynamics of Economic Development Indicators in Rural Nigeria

Abstract This paper focuses on rural economic development that seems grossly reported, neglected and underinvested in Nigeria despite various acclaimed public policies that the sector holds the key to sustainable economic development of the nation. Analysis of the 55 years of sectoral performance appraisal of the Nigerian economy in relation to sustainability is not comprehensive and instructive if it is devoid of a review of development policies that are public and rural driven. This paper therefore, addresses the dynamics, challenges and prospects of public policy instruments as indicative of rural economic development and performance indicators in the overall discourse on sustainable rural economic development in Nigeria. The paper adopted a qualitative approach to show evidences of performance indicators in rural areas in Nigeria. It concludes that public policies have assisted in accelerating the pace of rural development in Nigeria and the impact cannot be wished away for whatever reasons. The paper recommended that, public policies on rural economic development must be community driven, environmental friendly in implementation, social capital impacted and guided by deliberative civic engagement to enhance the buy-in attitude of rural dwellers.

The Impact of Fiscal Policy on Rural Economic Development in Romania

Agriculture played a major role in the development of society since old times. The new paradigm of sustainable growth emphasizes the role of agriculture in economic growth, in ensuring food security, in poverty reduction, in the reduction of income disparities, in the development of the rural area and environmental protection. Fiscal policy is the means by which the government of a country interferes within the economy to stimulate or soothe its growth. Because the application of tax policy affects consumer demand of the society, it is considered that the fiscal policy operates on the market of goods and services units. Romanian Government's vision fiscal policy is focused on ensuring a stimulating role of taxes in order to increase the economic growth, to fiscal consolidation and to development and strengthening the middle class. The purpose of this article is to identify and highlight the impact of fiscal policy on sustainable rural economic development of Romania, in the context of Romanian rural economy realities and needs of the economic and social environment to become competitive on the European market. In order to reach our objective, we have used fundamental research methods consisting in reading of the specialized literature in this field and some articles and studies covering this topic. One of the most important decisions to make is that individual entities become legal entities with legal personality. There are necessary internal and external financing in agriculture based on investment (investment projects), involving agricultural companies and agricultural associations (not individuals bodies). Last but not least, we appreciate that the taxation of agricultural incomes is still a necessity, given the principle of universality tax, leaving it to the experts to determine the dimensions of income rules.

The Role of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) In Participatory and Sustainable Rural Economic Development in Nigeria

Nigeria is predominantly a rural economy. If development is to take place and become self- sustaining, it must therefore, emphasis more on rural transformation. It is universally acknowledged that rural areas are very important to a nation. They serve as the base for the production of food and fiber. Yet, despite the importance of the rural areas, they have been neglected for long. Development plans of the country, therefore emphasized on rural economic development. But in the implementation of the planned objectives, the success was rather limited due to some constraints, at the top of which was the lack of participation by the stakeholders, the rural dwellers. The role played by government has failed at addressing the key issues in rural economic development. It is therefore, the responsibility of the Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) who can penetrate the rural communities to engage them in participatory development process for the rapid development of the rural areas. An evaluative economic development typology for sustainable rural economic development

This research develops a management typology that focuses on the importance of project typology and selection as part of sustainable rural economic development. The typology includes quality of life elements, the overall community resource base, and the capacity to generate projects. It considers various implications on the social, economic, and environmental factors at a very early stage in the project life cycle. The typology also develops selection criteria for rural economic projects that include a strong risk assessment phase. Data collected from two rural economic projects are used to examine strategic planning and project selection processes. Results may be used to develop effective strategies to stimulate rural economies.

Evaluating the role of environmental quality in the sustainable rural economic development of England

The issue of the sustainable development of rural economies in England has recently received considerable attention. This is because many of the poorest areas in the country are rural, often of high environmental quality, but suffering from high unemployment and a lack of services and facilities. The rapid decline in agricultural incomes and in-migration of affluent urban workers since 1990 has exacerbated economic inequality in such areas. A number of factors have the potential to drive rural development and this paper applies, and considers, the feasibility of a method from the USA for combining economic and environmental variables in a regional growth model to examine the hypothesis that environmental quality is an important determinant of sustainable rural development in England. The model output suggests that, although environmental quality does play a role in sustainable rural development in England there are other, more important, factors driving development. These include business and communications infra-structure, the degree and opportunities for commuting and underlying employment prospects. The robustness and limitations of the method for combining economic and environmental variables is discussed in relation to the spatial interrelatedness of Local Authority Districts in England, and conclusions are drawn about areas for refinement and improvement of the method.
