The effect of entrepreneurial orientation on firm’s supply chain performance: The case of food sector in Jordan

The objective of this study was to examine the impact of entrepreneurial orientation on the supply chain performance of firms operating within the food sector in Jordan. This study developed a theoretical framework for analyzing three key dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation: proactiveness, innovativeness, and risk-taking. The data collection process in the Jordanian food manufacturing sector involved a quantitative approach. A total of 192 respondents participated in the study, and the collected data was subsequently analyzed using SPSS software. The findings of the study indicate a significant positive impact on supply chain performance from two particular elements related to entrepreneurial orientation: innovativeness and risk-taking. Additionally, the study found that proactiveness had no significant impact on the performance of the supply chain. This study offers decision-makers seeking to establish a unique market position an opportunity to distinguish their supply chain operations by leveraging entrepreneurial orientation. Furthermore, this empirical study provides practical recommendations to organizations on enhancing various aspects related to proactiveness, innovativeness, and risk-taking. Firms with high entrepreneurial orientation excel in supply chain performance as they create customer-focused products, adapt to market changes, and maintain rigorous standards with suppliers and partners. This results in increased productivity, reduced distractions, and faster delivery. Moreover, the present study provides a theoretical contribution by proposing a framework that investigates the influence of three distinct types of entrepreneurial orientation on supply chain performance an area that has received limited attention in previous studies, particularly in the food sector.

Impact of strategic proactivity on reverse logistics and supply chain performance

This research throws light on the supply chain performance of firms in various conditions of reverse logistics settings. The main purpose of the research is to explore the reverse logistics practices in pharmaceutical sector of Pakistan and its outcomes. Reverse logistics is a comparatively newer term for this region as approximately no research has been done in this area, this was identified as the research gap. The multinational companies have a very well developed systems of reverse logistics in supply chain departments. The local manufacturing setups out-number the multinational companies, though the processes of reverse logistics are carried out more or less in every firm, but, the proper systems have not been developed. Reverse logistics capabilities and innovation were the main focus of the study with respect to their effect on all over supply chain performance and backed by resource commitment and strategic planning going on in firms. To test the model data were collected from pharmaceutical companies of Pakistan. A total of 150 responses were received. Smart PLS 3.4 is used to perform structural equation modeling and results proved the impact of reverse logistics innovation directly and as a mediating variable between resource commitment and supply chain performance. Study limitations and future research directions are given at the end.

Collaborative innovation and sustainability in the food supply chain- evidence from farmer producer organisations

Firms today are striving to adopt innovations to ensure their survival, value creation and success. Innovation is increasingly seen as an outcome of a collaborative process, involving various stakeholders both within and outside the firms, in supply chain relationships. Collaborative arrangements are gaining traction and the focus of innovation is shifting from firms to their supply chain networks. This leads to the notion of supply chain innovation, which has been widely accepted as an important ingredient for improving the organisational and supply chain performance of firms. Inefficient practices such as improper crop selection, involvement of too many intermediaries, flood irrigation, over-fertilization and food waste necessitate innovative practices that will improve the sustainability of the food supply chain. In this regard, there is a need to investigate how collaboration among food supply chain entities leads to innovative practices and how these innovative practices in turn improve the sustainability of the food supply chain. This study aims to address this gap using the case of the Indian Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs). Further, using the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model, the supply chain of FPO is divided into five levels - plan, source, make, deliver and return and the case is analysed across these levels. The findings show that the formation of FPO through collaboration facilitates many innovative practices that result in several economic, environmental and social benefits to the FPO.

Supply Chain Responsiveness and Supply Chain Performance: The Role of Supply Chain Risk Management

Main purpose of this paper is to analyze the impact of supply chain risk management factors on supply chain responsiveness which in turn enhance the supply chain performance of firms operating in Pakistan. The questionnaire was filled by 190 respondents and a total of 160 questionnaires were selected who are working in supply chain firms all over Pakistan. Five independent variables related to risk management were examined to analyze their relationship with dependent variable which is supply chain responsiveness. Finally supply chain responsiveness as independent variable was examined to analyze its relationship with dependent variable is supply chain performance. The result of this study showed that supply risk management, operational risk management and logistics risk management is having positively significant relation with supply chain responsiveness and supply chain responsiveness is in positively significant relation with supply chain performance. This result is like the results of previous studies but there is one surprising difference, demand risk management indicated insignificant relationship with supply chain responsiveness and system risk management have negative significant relation with supply chain responsiveness. This study showed that all risk management factors have direct effect on supply chain responsiveness and relationship between supply chain responsiveness on supply chain performance, consistent with other researcher’s findings.
