Acceptance of digital twins of customer demands for supply chain optimisation: an analysis of three hierarchical digital twin levels

PurposeInaccurate capturing and processing of customer requirements result in negative economic and ecological effects. Digital twins of customer demands promise to remedy these issues. However, successful implementation necessitates users' technology acceptance. This study contrasts three hierarchical digital twin levels with different degrees of user integration and examines determinants for their respective acceptance.Design/methodology/approachA structural equation model is applied in a comparative manner, considering different levels of digital twin radicalness. A multidimensional approach is used to measure attitudes towards usage. Data are collected in the context of organisational supply management.FindingsResults show harmonious effects across digital twin levels. This indicates that technological radicality plays only a subordinate role when assessing acceptance determinants such as user perception on ease of use, usefulness, trust and risk.Practical implicationsRather than focussing solely on technological factors, findings suggest that users prioritise the actual outcome and efficiency of the system. This perspective offers practical implications for organisations seeking to implement advanced systems and emphasises the significance of user perceptions beyond technological features.Social implicationsThe societal impact of this research are an appreciation of customer roles in the supply chain where an enhanced detection of customer needs and preferences aligns businesses with the dynamic and evolving demands of a diverse and a continuously environmentally-conscious consumer base.Originality/valueThis study applies a measurement model for technology acceptance in a unique and multidimensional manner. Thereby, a comparative analysis of user perceptions across different digital twin levels sheds more light on a nascent, promising and underexplored technological method. This interdisciplinary research combined knowledge from the supply chain management and management information systems fields by highlighting key factors for the adoption of complex technological methods.

The Effect of Green Supply Chain Management, Green Intellectual Capital, and Green Information System on Environmental Performance and Financial Performance

Environmental degradation is increasing and resource depletion has become a problem. Based on the results of the preliminary survey, the majority of respondents are more concerned with financial performance than environmental performance. This study aims to examine the effect of green supply chain management (GSCM), green intellectual capital (GIC), and green information system (GIS) on environmental performance (EnvP) and financial performance (FinP). The sample in this study was 219 respondents who came from manufacturing companies in Riau Province. Data analysis used structural equation analysis with SMART PLS application. The results show that only green supply chain management has a positive effect on financial performance. Then green intellectual capital and environmental performance each have a positive effect on financial performance. This research develops a new measurement for green supply chain management and green information system variables. Companies can develop systems and information technology that can reduce waste so that their environmental and financial performance can be better.

Computers are very helpful and facilitate human work, effective and efficient computer work produces accurate information so that many companies use information technology to improve their quality in all aspects, namely to compete in the business world, therefore UD. Mebel Jaya needs to implement a Supply Chain Management Information System (Supply Chain Management) which aims to facilitate inventory management, starting from the process of ordering goods from suppliers, procurement of goods to managing goods to customers. UD.Mebel Jaya is a business engaged in the furniture manufacturing industry which focuses on the production of furniture / furniture such as tables, chairs, cabinets, and frames. The system is made using a web-based system design and uses supporting applications such as XAMPP and the Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) programming language and DBMS (Database Management System) using MySQL, it is hoped that this application can help companies store all data that is still using a manual system, or not computerized system with the aim of maximizing performance and profit for the company, suppliers, including customers and can provide satisfaction to suppliers and companies so that carrying out business processes will be easy.

 The Supply Chain Management Information System combines several business processes across organizations from the initial organization to the end user. In the procurement of raw materials, the procurement of Covid-19 takes time and causes inventory. With the Supply Chain Management Information System, it is expected to simplify the procurement process and minimize shortages of goods so as to speed up patient handling. This study resulted in the design of an SCM information system that uses the waterfall model software development method which is useful for helping the health industry get the flow of information, goods, and money because the related parties have been integrated with the designed system.

Visibility and Analytics Network (VAN) approach to improve immunization supply chain and management performance system in Pakistan.

BackgroundPakistan has been experiencing several immunization related challenges. The supply chain management information system (MIS) is considered an important component of immunization services as it can improve visibility in key areas such as vaccine shortages or wastage. This study assessed the effectiveness of the Visibility and Analytics Network (VAN) approach in improving vaccine supply and availability of stocks by comparing the situation in intervention and non-intervention districts in Sindh province of Pakistan.MethodsWe utilized a quantitative and qualitative approach to collect data to assess the VAN approach in two districts of Sindh province in Pakistan. The data were collected between August and October 2017. VAN is a systematic monitoring system which measures the performance of vaccine supply chain management based on a set of indicators. We assessed storage facilities of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) in Sindh and interviewed personnel involved using a pre-tested data collection tool. We also conducted in depth interviews with senior management to assess performance of VAN, adoption mechanism and needs to scale up the VAN approach.ResultsWe assessed 52 EPI facilities of Sindh province government. In the intervention district 83.3% managers were using MIS data for decision making related to vaccine supplies whereas in the non- intervention district no MIS based data were available. Ninety percent of stores were maintaining a stock registry and 100% supplies matched with requisitions in the intervention district compared to 40% and 35% in the non-intervention district for the same variables. Vaccine wastage was high in the non- intervention district (BCG 46.7% vs 33.9; OPV 13.5% vs 9.5%; pneumococcal 11.4% vs 7.4%). In-depth interview findings suggested that the VAN approach provided data guided monitoring in Pakistan for the first time. The approach also enabled district managers to make timely decisions.ConclusionThe VAN approach improves vaccine supply chain management. It should be scaled up and implemented at national or sub national especially in countries struggling with vaccine supply chain management.

The influence of environmental uncertainty, organizational structure and distribution network competence on the quality of supply chain management information systems

This study aims to find empirical evidence regarding the factors that affect the quality of information systems and the quality of supply chain management as seen from the environmental uncertainty of the organizational structure and the distribution network competence in manufacturing companies in Medan, Indonesia. The research method used is quantitative and verification that aims to determine the relationship between variables through a hypothesis testing. The data used are primary data using a questionnaire aimed at functional managers of marketing managers and production managers with a Likert scale. The study uses a sampling technique through a census of the entire population as a unit of analysis as many as 206 managers spread across 103 manufacturing companies in the city of Medan. Data analysis was performed through multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that environmental uncertainty, organizational structure, and distribution network competence partially and simultaneously affected the quality of supply chain management information systems in manufacturing companies.

Supply chain flows and stocks as entry points for cyber-risks

Abstract As supply chains become more digital to reach new levels of global competitiveness, caveats from this decision arise. Cyber-risks are one of these potential setbacks, affecting supply chains directly and indirectly, and propagating via supply chain flows and stocks – information, material, and financial. This study applied a systematic literature review to determine how the supply chain’s flows and stocks serve as points of entry to cyber-risks. Cyber-risks arise from different sources (i.e., direct attacks, built-in problems, low-quality issues), impacting supply chains’ flows and stocks (material and information). There is a relation between the type of supply chain and which flow, or stock facilitates access to the supply chain. Finally, we provide a distinction between two concepts related to Supply Chain Risk Management and cyber-risks. This research is useful to 1) enterprise decision-makers, as the description of potential cyber-risks’ points of entry delivers hints on where to focus managerial efforts; 2) developers of Supply Chain Management (SCM) Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems, since discussing potential points of entry build awareness about probable exploitation points, thus improving ICT systems’ resiliency, and 3) scholars, as the depiction of the state-of-the-art may serve as a common departing point for future research.

Pada tahap perencanaan digunakan Class Diagram, Activity Diagram, dan Sequence Diagram. Pembangunan sistem menggunakan Php dan Mysql untuk basis datanya. Sistem informasi manajemen rantai pasok ini diharapkan dapat membantu dalam mengatasi permasalahan yang terjadi pada Pabrik Roti ABC dalam menjalankan kegiatan operasionalnya.

This study discusses the inventory system in requires good inventory management in order to manage the procurement for customers. Based on the purpose of the study the make observations on the research by one of the method approach that can be used in the management of the inventory is a method of Supply Chain Management (SCM) concept for the inventory control process. In inventory managing, the store needs a system that can ensure the supply of products in guaranteed quality, on time delivery, and the right amount in accordance with the reservation. By application of the supply chain management in calculate reorder point with safety stock can help control inventory in maintaining stock stability in improving customer service. Following the total reorder with safety stock, provides the effect to improve business performance because it can improve the services to customers, sell new products, and increase sales. Therefore, the XYZ Store can be estimated and predicted capital that must be spent every year estimated revenue for the store and is able to maintain stability from stock out.

A Conceptual Framework for Collaboration in Business Schools

Collaboration partnerships within higher education have been shown to enhance educational experiences for students and excite faculty who have the opportunity to innovative in their classrooms. Additional benefits for students include meaningful participation in group or team assignments that will prepare them for significant and successful participation as a member of a global workforce. While many organizations realize the advantages of a cross-disciplinary approach, business schools have been slow to adopt this mindset. Using the two business majors of supply chain management and computer information systems that are meeting a 21st century skillset of technology knowledge and information transfer, this paper addresses the need for collaboration in business schools and proposes a conceptual framework to assist business schools as they consider their collaboration efforts.

CHALLENGES IN USING BLOCKCHAIN FOR SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Blockchain has been the hype in technology lately and supply chain management is often mentioned as one of its applications. However, it is unwise to just eat the hype. Blockchain does have weaknesses; some of its natures considered as strengths might be weaknesses or problems in some cases. There are many things to be considered and among them are the challenges. This paper presents a systematic literature review of challenges in using blockchain for supply chain management information systems. This paper aims to help stakeholders and top management of supply chains when considering on adopting blockchain. The literatures were gathered from open-access papers found on Google Scholar. A total of 76 unique papers were found and then 29 were selected. The findings were classified into 12 categories. The top three category of challenges are development and implementation, performance and efficiency, and sustainability and scalability. Apparently, although blockchain in cryptocurrency is pretty solid, there are many challenges in its usage for supply chain.

Supply Chain Management Information System of Duck Meat at Madura Island (Case Study at Sinjay Duck Restaurant)

This study aims to determine and analyze the supply chain management information system of duck meat at Madura Island, East Java, Indonesia. Respondents of the study were duck farmers, intermediate traders, suppliers, fried duck restaurants, and consumers. Primary data of the study was gathered using structured questionnaires consists flow of information, material, and financial along the supply chain. Secondary data was provided by related institution. Method dutilized in this study was survey with purposive sampling and snowball sampling. Data collected in this research was analyzed with qualitative descriptive analysis. Results showed that the flow of information in the supply chain of duck meat at Sinjay Duck Restaurant was including the purchasing DOD, Feed and Vitamins/Medicines. Information of duck breeders to duck traders and duck suppliers. The flow of products in the supply chain of duck meat at Sinjay Duck Restaurant explains the quantity and quality of the product.

Smart Information System Capabilities of Digital Supply Chain Business Models

This study explores how supply chain management (SCM) information system (IS) capabilities can lead to superior business performance, and what are the detailed capabilities and methods to master volatility and uncertainties in business environments. Key concepts in SC modelling have been identified for decreasing SC complexity and increasing SC agility and key methods for supply network planning and synchronisation for optimising business performance and objectives that are often contradicting at the same time. The study developed a best practice for profit-optimised SCM for companies with capital intensive and capacity constrained resources such as in the steel companies and others of the process industry. Finally, the study shows how Industry 4.0 innovations such as Cyber-Physical Systems and blockchain technology can provide new value potentials from cross-organisational network effects and increased autonomy of SC ecosystems for dealing with unforeseen events and improved prevention from system failure. Big data analysis of e-commerce loan risk of college students in the context of network finance

With the continuous development of e-commerce industry, China’s modern supply chain management field has to a certain extent and realistically achieved relatively good conditions for development. Based on the theoretical analysis of industrial economy, this paper briefly analyses and discusses the development situation of the objectivity of e-business supply chain management information system in China. The integrated scheme based on e-commerce supply chain management system only provides a technical framework for integrating supply chain management resources and implementing information sharing. It is mainly through such a system integration platform that the node enterprises in the supply chain can really realize the information sharing with suppliers, dealers and customers, and then realize the seamless connection between the node enterprises of the supply chain. And it can form a dynamic global networked supply chain network. The e-commerce platform system is used to track and monitor the campus network loan and pay attention to the trend of network loan in real time. Through the optimization of the whole supply chain management, the value added of the whole value chain can really enhance the core competitiveness of the enterprise. The experiment proves that the electronic commerce synchronous supply chain management information system can effectively improve the efficiency of the system and reduce the cost to a large extent.

The Role of Information Systems in the Effectiveness of Supply Chain Management

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the conceptual role of Information System (IS) in the effectiveness of Supply Chain Management (SCM). The development of business competition in the field of products or services is increasingly competitive. Competition for product quality is intense in the market. Since products and services are the fastest growing industries in 2018, so it is very necessary to have a good and structured IS that serves to increase the effectiveness of SCM; this will eventually have a positive impact on business performance. At present the IS is needed to increase the effectiveness of SCM. SCM information systems can standardize, monitor, capture and utilize business potential in order to improve business performance. This study adopted a conceptual approach from related theories. To obtain data, interviews of experts/operational management experts (IS & SCM) were conducted with prompts or probing methods. Moreover, secondary sources such as journals, books and magazines were also used to obtain data. The findings of the study assured the significant role of management IS in achieving effectiveness in SCM. This study concludes that the application of information systems can reduce costs in distribution both from upstream to downstream, can implement good communication and can improve the performance of a company in carrying out SCM.
