Caste discrimination in higher education in India remains a deeply entrenched and pervasive issue, presenting formidable barriers to the goal of achieving equal access and opportunity for all. The article explores the various dimensions of caste discrimination in education, including the denial of equal educational opportunities, the perpetuation of humiliation, and the resultant psychological trauma experienced by victims. Additionally, it examines the role of faculties and the increasing trend in the suicide of students, especially Dalit students. Based upon the qualitative data collected from Dalit scholars, the study describes the everyday struggle of Dalit students who experience stereotypes, subtle discrimination and prejudice on campus due to their caste identity. It discusses how this discrimination not only hampers individual growth and potential but also contributes to the perpetuation of social inequalities and reinforces stigma, resulting in the social exclusion of Dalit students in higher education.
