Comparison of Demirjian's comprehensive chart with the London atlas of tooth development in children and adolescents: a pilot study.

No study has compared Demirjian's comprehensive chart and London atlas method in the Indian population.The dental age estimated by London method was closer to chronological age as compared to Demirjian's method in our study sample.Significant difference was found in chronological age and estimated age using London atlas method in both males and females.

Personalized medicine and healthcare: where are we now, where should we go?

The authors of this manuscript are representatives of different subdisciplines of medicine, all of them are experienced researchers. As of their origin, they are practicing doctors from the primary care and from the clinical/hospital setting, diagnostics experts, researchers from healthcare management, health economics, representatives of patients' rights and patient organizations. They are all devoted to the implementation of personalized medicine and personalized healthcare in Hungary. The current manuscript - also meant to be a keynote message provoking further discussion in the medical community - is devoted to correcting for two false ideas. One is that personalized medicine is not yet ready for practical applications, it is merely a research area of futurologists. REDEFINING MEDICAL EDUCATION IN INDIA: A PERSPECTIVE

India has largest number of Medical Teaching institutions in the world. However, there has been a wide, qualitative and quantitative disparity in the teaching standards, infrastructures as well as competency of medical teachers and students in our country. Medical Education is a highly dynamic & evolving science that needs to be transformed to meet with the pace of the progress in the eld of medicine. It should be capable of adapting newer teaching modules as well as the socio-economic expectations and changing pattern of the diseases with ultimate aim to provide highly responsive and reliable health care delivery system in the country. The teaching should be able to generate enough interest and enthusiasm among medical students to inculcate ethos and practice of problem solving approach towards curative, preventive aspects of clinical medicine as well as commitments towards genuine research and innovations. Restructuring of curriculum & mode of medical education should directly focus on the need of better understanding of various aspects of managing Indian subcontinent based tropical, communicable, epidemiological & other diseases. The review article is aimed to highlight the role and reframing of Articial Intelligence as augmented intelligence in medical education, application of Competency-based medical education (CBME) that is to be effectively clubbed with the concept of lateral, vertical and horizontal integration of mode of education. The proposed module is comprised of Intra & Inter-professional team-based learning (TBL) of particular disease and its management strategies among various sub disciplines of medicine & clinical transformation of basic sciences. Stress will be on integration of medical education, basic and clinical research with biomedical research and innovations betting with the need of the country.

Abstract Pathology, as the study of disease, effectively incorporates a part of all the various subdisciplines of medicine. In a similar manner, forensic pathology is the application of law to the study and interpretation of disease and injury. As any busy forensic pathologist will attest, the practice of this specialty transcends the usual public image of dealing solely with violent deaths, as medicolegal problems are increasingly apparent at virtually all levels of medicine, and it is often the forensic pathologist who has both the accumulated experience and the willingness to address such questions. Consequently, as any good physician is wont to do, the pathologist continues to learn, grow professionally, and adapt to the constantly evolving scope of medicine in a technological age.

William Osler and the new psychiatry.

William Osler steered medical education towards knowledge of the natural history of disease and the biological sciences that explain its course and characteristic symptoms. A psychiatric education is now ready to move from a pre-Oslerian period, where the emphasis has been on teaching therapy, to a post-Oslerian discipline, where teaching focuses on distinctions in the presentation of psychiatric disorders and the basic sciences that can illuminate the causes and pathologic mechanisms behind abnormal human behaviors. Educational programs based on such ideas eliminate the denominationalism that has characterized psychiatry and make it more obviously a subdiscipline of medicine.
