Analysis of Career Development Path Based on the Three Comprehensive Practice Education Models of Medical Laboratory Technology

This paper expounds on the connotation of the three complex practical education models of medical laboratory technology and its application in career planning. Through the cooperation and resource sharing of schools, enterprises, and hospitals, the 33 Complex realizes the close integration of theoretical teaching and practice and provides comprehensive preparation for students' clinical practice and employment. This paper further discusses the career planning strategies of medical laboratory technology students based on this model, including personal positioning, goal setting, and career development path analysis. Through the analysis of typical career development cases, the challenges and opportunities in the industry are revealed. Finally, this paper discusses the positive impact of the three complex models on career development, including the promoting role of resource sharing and the advantages of career development under mutual benefit and win-win results. It looks forward to the future trends and challenges.

Teaching Interprofessional Collaboration through Experiential Learning with Behavioural Psychology, Business, and Engineering Students

Research has indicated that interprofessional collaboration improves client outcomes, enhances work life, optimizes costs, and allows professionals to tackle complex situations with increased knowledge and creativity. However, the inherent barriers and challenges of developing effective interprofessional teams have been documented in the literature. This research explores whether teaching interprofessional collaboration improves students’ perceptions of their own interprofessional collaborative competencies. This research provides two experiential learning projects to teach interprofessional collaboration among behavioural psychology, engineering, and business students. In Study 1, interprofessional teams were presented with complex cases, and teams created a functional assessment and developed a function-based treatment using technology developed by the engineering students. During Study 2, community stakeholders provided interprofessional teams with community-based challenges. Students worked collaboratively to analyze why the challenge existed and created innovative solutions based on behavioural economics. Significant increases in the Interprofessional Collaborative Competency Attainment Scale scores were found in both studies. Sentiment analysis results suggested that most students felt that the interprofessional collaboration project benefitted them in terms of communication, collaboration, and synergy. Findings support the effectiveness of IEP in increasing student perceptions of their interprofessional collaborative competency.

Islamic Education Comprehension among Engineering Students:Effects of Attitude and Motivation to Learn as an Antecedent Mediator

This study aimed to analyse the effect of attitudes and motivation to learn on Islamic education comprehension among engineering students. It also identified the role of motivation as a mediator between attitude and Islamic education comprehension. This study employed a quantitative method with a survey study. The participants were first-year and end-year engineering students in Higher Education Institutions who were chosen by purposive sampling. Data were gathered from 250 samples by using one set of questionnaires. SmartPLS with Structure Equation Modeling was carried out to analyse data. Furthermore, path analysis at two-tailed significance (p<0.05) examines hypotheses and the effect of each antecedent on Islamic education comprehension. The findings of this study confirmed that attitude had no significant impact on Islamic education comprehension among engineering students. But attitude affects the motivation to learn. Motivation to learn affects Islamic education comprehension. These findings reveal that motivation to learn is a significant antecedent as a mediator in the relationship between attitude and Islamic education comprehension. This study is limited by a questionnaire to gather the data and area restrictions. This study involved Muslim engineering students in higher education institutions who have not been assigned to other studies on Islamic education. Generally, other Islamic education studies analyse subjects in Madrasah or other Islamic education institutions.

Interactive Notebooks Improve Students' Understanding of Developmental Neurobiology, Attitudes Toward Research, and Experimental Design Competency in a Lecture-Based Neuroscience Course.

Recent efforts to engage postsecondary science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) students in the rigors of discovery-driven inquiry have centered on the integration of course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs) within the biology curricula. While this method of laboratory education is demonstrated to improve students' content knowledge, motivations, affect, and persistence in STEM, CUREs may present as cost- and/or resource-prohibitive. Likewise, not all lecture courses have a concomitant laboratory requirement. With these caveats in mind, we developed the NeuroNotebook intervention, which provided students enrolled in a standalone Developmental Neurobiology course with an immersive, semester-long "dry-lab" experience incorporating many of the same elements as a CURE (e.g., collaboration, use of experimental design skills, troubleshooting, and science communication). Quantitative and qualitative assessment of this intervention revealed positive pre-/post-semester gains in students' content knowledge, attitudes toward the research process, and development of science process skills. Collectively, these data suggest that interventions such as the NeuroNotebook can be an effective alternative to a "wet-lab" experience.

The Influence of Covid-19 on Industrial Work Practices of Building Engineering Students of SMKN 1 West Sumatra

<span lang="EN-US">This research was conducted to determine the magnitude of the influence of COVID-19 on the implementation of Industrial Work Practices for Building Engineering students of SMKN 1 West Sumatra. This research includes quantitative research of associative approaches. The population of this study was students of class XI Building Engineering, which numbered 50 students. Data collection is carried out using questionnaires. Questionnaires are used to measure COVID-19 variables and Industrial Work Practices. Instrument testing was carried out at SMKN 1 West Sumatra in class XI students of the Mechatronics Expertise Program, totaling 30 students. The data analysis techniques used are the prerequisite analysis tests, namely the normality test and linearity test, and the hypothesis test used is a simple regression analysis. The results of the research showed that there was a positive and significant influence of COVID-19 on the implementation of Industrial Work Practices for Building Engineering Students of SMKN 1 West Sumatra where the value of r xy was 0.499, the coefficient of determination (r2xy) was 0.249 and t count (3.771) > t table (1,677). Based on the coefficient of determination (r2xy), 0.249 means that 24.9% of students ' Industrial Work Practices are affected by COVID-19, while other factors influence the remaining 75.1%.</span>

Overview of Knowledge about Basic Life Support (BLS) for Nature Lovers Students

Basic life support (BLS), comprising cardiovascular resuscitation and automated external defibrillator use, is not exclusively taught to health care workers but also to layman. BLS could save the lives of trauma and/or other emergency patients, particularly where health care facility is unreachable. Students’ mountaineering club members particularly are under constant risks of these conditions. There has been no study regarding BLS knowledge profile in North Maluku, especially among students’ mountaineering club members. Objective: To describe the level of knowledge about BLS among students’ mountaineering club members at Khairun University. Methods: This observational, descriptive, cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on all students’ mountaineering club members at Khairun University in 2022. Analysis was performed using univariate analysis. Results: Among 123 respondents from 14 study programs, most were male (57,7%), were civil engineering students (22,2%), and had previous BLS training (87,8%). Regarding the level of BLS knowledge, 6,5% had good knowledge, 50,4% mediocre, and 43,1%had low level of knowledge. Conclusion: Most students’ mountaineering club members at Khairun University had mediocre level of knowledge regarding BLS. Further study is required to confirm this finding.

Behavioural Engagement in Visual Programming Online Course Gamification

Visual programming is one of the courses offered in the bachelor's degree in educational technology. Based on a survey in the field, almost 85% of educational technology students do not have a background in learning programming. To provide motivation in learning visual programming, gamification is required in implementation. Usually the gamification principle is held offline. This study aims to determine the behavioral engagement of students during lectures by implementing online gamification. The method used was a survey of 98 students who were taking classes at the 8th meeting. The results showed that empirically the level of student behavioral engagement in visual programming courses was good in the high and medium categories, although some were categorized as low. Hypothetically, students are taking lectures at high and moderate levels. The overall results are discussed in the discussion section of the article.

Insights into student perspectives regarding food fortification in a private medical and engineering college, Bhubaneswar, Odisha: a qualitative study

Food fortification is a crucial public health intervention aimed at addressing nutrient deficiencies and improving overall health outcomes. There is need in diet enhancement as macronutrient and micronutrient deficiency can lead to malnutrition in the long run. Young adults are the budding future of the community and their perception on food fortification and its adaptation can help the policy makers to generate better ways to implement it. This review article presents findings from a qualitative exploration of awareness regarding food fortification among students in a private college in Bhubaneswar, Odisha through an academic program. Through focus group discussions (FGDs), we investigated students' (medical and engineering) understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of food fortification. Among the medical students, 50% were aware about food fortification, 40% were in favour of it and only 10% had misconception regarding food fortification. Whereas, among the engineering students, 72.2% were aware, 45.45% were in favour and none had any misconception or myth related to food fortification. To create awareness and promote fortified food, engineering students suggested better ideas than medical students. This analysis revealed insights into perceptions, knowledge gaps, and potential strategies for enhancing awareness and promoting the adoption of fortified foods.

Hybrid Information Technology Learning Based on Project Work to Enhance Students' Design Thinking in Creating Digital Innovations

This study explores the effectiveness of a hybrid information technology learning model based on project work in enhancing students' design-thinking skills necessary for creating digital innovations. Traditional teaching methods have shown limitations in fostering essential design-thinking competencies among information technology students, necessitating innovative pedagogical strategies. Utilizing a quasi-experimental design, this research implemented a hybrid learning framework that integrates project-based learning (PjBL) with digital tools to offer a dynamic, student-centered educational environment. Over a two-month period, 80 information technology (IT) students from Mandalika University of Education were selected using purposive sampling and divided into an experimental group, who engaged in the hybrid model, and a control group, which continued with traditional methods. Data were collected using structured questionnaires pre- and post-intervention to assess various design-thinking skills, including creativity, collaboration, and adaptability. The data analysis involved descriptive statistics and analysis of variance (ANOVA) to compare the performance of the two groups. Results indicate significant improvements in the experimental group's design-thinking abilities compared to the control group, emphasizing the hybrid model's potential to effectively bridge the gap between conventional education and the requirements of the digital era. This study contributes to educational research by demonstrating that a well-structured hybrid learning environment can substantially enhance students' abilities to innovate and apply design thinking in real-world digital scenarios, suggesting a need for curricular adjustments that emphasize such integrative approaches in IT education.

Enhancing EMI learning through L1 use and ESP: A mixed-methods study in a Chinese transnational education context

This paper employs a mixed-methods design to investigate the supportive roles of the translanguaging practice, specifically the use of students' First Language (L1), and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) courses within the context of English Medium Instruction (EMI) in a Transnational Education (TNE) program in China. It involved collecting questionnaire responses from 268 undergraduate Chemical Engineering students and conducting 17 follow-up semi-structured interviews. The hierarchical multiple regression analysis revealed students' academic language-related challenges and ESP course performance were two statistically significant predictors of their EMI academic success; academic linguistic challenges and students' L1 use attitudes emerged as significant indicators of their EMI learning self-efficacy. Qualitative data analysis further uncovered students' positive beliefs regarding the bridging effects of L1 use on facilitating their EMI learning and the foundational role of ESP courses in linguistic preparation. These empirical findings lead to significant pedagogical implications, aiming to scaffold effective EMI learning in the investigated context.

Bridging Learning and International Practice for Enhancing Physics Education

This paper discusses the implementation and outcomes of an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP) focused on physics education. The program aimed to address the challenges faced by first-year engineering students in mastering physics through a combination of online and face-to-face phases. Participants included students and faculty from three European universities: the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE), the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), and the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (SUA). A survey was proposed to students to obtain information that would benefit future programs. Survey results revealed significant improvements in students’ social skills and a high level of satisfaction with the program’s organization and methodology. However, areas for improvement were identified, particularly in administrative processes. The study highlights the importance of international cooperation and collaboration frameworks to ensure the program’s effectiveness across diverse educational systems. Overall, the BIP provided a valuable educational experience that enhanced students’ theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and interpersonal abilities, demonstrating the benefits of integrating innovative teaching methods in higher education.

SOCIAL PORTRAIT OF A STUDENT OF THE ADVANCED ENGINEERING SCHOOL OF KAZAN FEDERAL UNIVERSITY

Background. In modern Russia, there is a task of creating a strong corps of highly qualified engineers capable of implementing the country’s scientific and technical strategies. Engineers should not only possess professional skills but also creative thinking to generate and implement innovative ideas. Purpose. The aim of the research is to develop and analyze the social portrait of students of the Advanced Engineering School “Cyber Auto Tech” of Kazan Federal University. Materials and methods. The study relies on an integrative approach that combines theoretical positions of psychology and sociology, as well as research methods of comparative analysis, modeling, and classification. Social statistics methods included surveying and data analysis. Results. The research revealed that the typical student of the Advanced Engineering School “Cyber Auto Tech” of Kazan Federal University is a young person aged 18-21 years, with high academic motivation and interested in receiving quality education. Students value the opportunity for budget-based education and the geographical proximity of the university, strive for professional development and financial stability. The research results emphasize the importance of adapting educational programs to modern requirements and challenges to support the youth in the engineering field and contribute to the development of the country’s technological and economic potential.

Thriving through trials and tribulations: the impact of the ‘Grand Challenge’ on engineering student resilience skills

ABSTRACT Resilience is considered of significant importance for student attainment and work-readiness. This study investigated the impact of Grand Challenge (GC) – an industry-based learning assessment for 1st and 2nd year Engineering students – on student resilience. Resilience scores and psychological distress were measured before and after the GC through questionnaires presented to students. Focus groups were conducted to assess GC’s effect on student resilience qualitatively. Resilience scores in the questionnaires decreased slightly after GC, possibly due to less students completing the post-GC questionnaire. Interestingly, when discussing GC in the focus groups, students did feel GC helped them develop their resilience and understood the impact of resilience on their future career. Overall, the findings help establish GC as a challenge-based learning (CBL) intervention and the extent to which such CBL assessments may affect student resilience skills. The study provides the groundwork for future resilience training and assessment in higher engineering education through CBL events.

One size doesn’t fit all: how different types of learning motivations influence engineering undergraduate students’ success outcomes

BackgroundMotivation is the inherent belief to guide students learning goals and behaviors to make continuous efforts and strengthen learning outcomes. Previous research reported the positive impacts of learning motivation on student success, but there have been limited efforts in systematically and structurally studying different types of motivations and their impacts on students’ success in engineering education. The current study contributes to the literature by systematically examining two important types of motivations and their influences on undergraduate engineering students in a theoretically grounded manner while using an advanced analytical approach.MethodsThe current study conducted a cross-sectional survey with undergraduate engineering students (n = 514) from 18 different schools across nine U.S. states. The survey assessed students’ self-report scores on six types of motivations to study developed based on formative research and the current literature and then collected students’ self-reported learning outcomes, current GPA, university satisfaction, engineering program satisfaction, and individual demographic factors. The data were then analyzed using structural equation modeling.ResultsThe results showed that motivations related to family, personality, and academic expectations were consistently positively associated with all measured students’ success outcomes; motivations related to educators were associated with all four outcomes but student GPA; motivations related to course contents were associated with learning outcomes and student GPA; and motivations related to peers did not predict any of the four measured students’ success outcomes.DiscussionWe explain some of the unexpected results with further literature that examines engineering culture and ecology. We also make recommendations related to cognitive training, tailored engineering education, peer culture interventions, and family orientation programs.

GEMINI GOOGLE: A POTENTIAL TOOL FOR ENGLISH LEARNING

Based on previous surveys, it is evident that Food Technology students at Thu Dau Mot University face challenges in learning English, such as limited vocabulary, weak grammar, inaccurate pronunciation, and poor listening and speaking skills. These can lead to declining academic performance and restricted career opportunities. The paper highlights the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in overcoming these challenges. AI tools like Gemini Google can provide personalized learning experiences, improve interaction with the language, and offer immediate feedback. Gemini is specifically chosen due to its free access, Vietnamese interface, and support for over 40 languages. This study demonstrates that Gemini is an effective tool for undergraduate students, particularly those in Food Technology who have weak English backgrounds, to improve their English skills. Gemini improves vocabulary, grammar, speaking, listening, pronunciation, reading, and writing. It offers simple instructions and ideas in both English and Vietnamese, making it ideal for beginners, self-learners, and people with limited English proficiency. Unlike traditional learning, Gemini provides access at any time and from any location, as well as the ability to overcome shyness and blunders. Gemini's large, up-to-date database and user-friendly interface enable personalized learning paths and can be paired with other methods for best language learning. The study also proposes various strategies for utilizing Gemini Google to improve English learning effectiveness in areas like vocabulary, grammar, listening, speaking, reading, writing, and creating a positive learning environment. Bridging minds and machines in Industry 5.0: neurobiological approach.

In transitioning from Industry 4.0 to the forthcoming Industry 5.0, this research explores the fusion of the humanistic view and technological developments to redefine Continuing Engineering Education (CEE). Industry 5.0 introduces concepts like biomanufacturing and human-centricity, embodying the integration of sustainability and resiliency principles in CEE, thereby shaping the upskilling and reskilling initiatives for the future workforce. The interaction of sophisticated concepts such as Human-Machine Interface and Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) forms a conceptual bridge toward the approaching Fifth Industrial Revolution, allowing one to understand human beings and the impact of their biological development across diverse and changing workplace settings. Our research is based on recent studies into Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities taxonomies, linking these elements with dynamic labor market profiles. This work intends to integrate a biometric perspective to conceptualize and describe how cognitive abilities could be represented by linking a Neuropsychological test and a biometric assessment. We administered the brief Neuropsychological Battery in Spanish (Neuropsi Breve). At the same time, 15 engineering students used the Emotiv insight device that allowed the EEG recollection to measure performance metrics such as attention, stress, engagement, and excitement. The findings of this research illustrate a methodology that allowed the first approach to the cognitive abilities of engineering students to be from neurobiological and behavioral perspectives. Additionally, two profiles were extracted from the results. The first illustrates the Neuropsi test areas, its most common mistakes, and its performance ratings regarding the students' sample. The second profile shows the interaction between the EEG and Neuropsi test, showing engineering students' cognitive and emotional states based on biometric levels. The study demonstrates the potential of integrating neurobiological assessment into engineering education, highlighting a significant advancement in addressing the skills requirements of Industry 5.0. The results suggest that obtaining a comprehensive understanding of students' cognitive abilities is possible, and educational interventions can be adapted by combining neuropsychological approaches with EEG data collection. In the future, it is essential to refine these evaluation methods further and explore their applicability in different engineering disciplines. Additionally, it is necessary to investigate the long-term impact of these methods on workforce preparation and performance.

Application of Target Detection Based on Deep Learning in Intelligent Mineral Identification

In contemporary society, rich in mineral resources, efficiently and accurately identifying and classifying minerals has become a prominent issue. Recent advancements in artificial intelligence, particularly breakthroughs in deep learning, have offered new solutions for intelligent mineral recognition. This paper introduces a deep-learning-based object detection model for intelligent mineral identification, specifically employing the YOLOv8 algorithm. The model was developed with a focus on seven common minerals: biotite, quartz, chalcocite, silicon malachite, malachite, white mica, and pyrite. During the training phase, the model learned to accurately recognize and classify these minerals by analyzing and annotating a large dataset of mineral images. After 258 rounds of training, a stable model was obtained with high performance on key indicators such as Precision, Recall, mAP50, and mAP50–95, with values stable at 0.91766, 0.89827, 0.94300, and 0.91696, respectively. In the testing phase, using samples provided by the Geological and Mineral Museum at the School of Earth Sciences and Engineering, Sun Yat-sen University, the model successfully identified all test samples, with 83% of them having a confidence level exceeding 87%. Despite some potential misclassifications, the results of this study contribute valuable insights and practical experience to the development of intelligent mineral recognition technologies.
