This article discusses the development of an interactive module for early childhood education (PPG PAUD) students integrated with project-based learning as an effort to optimize learning in partner schools. The program aims to enhance the skills and understanding of PPG PAUD students through the use of interactive modules designed to support project-based learning. The methodology includes needs analysis, module design, implementation, and effectiveness evaluation. The results indicate that the interactive module significantly increases students' learning motivation, engagement, and material comprehension. Additionally, the integration of project-based learning allows students to develop practical skills relevant to the teaching context in partner schools. In conclusion, the development of interactive modules integrated with project-based learning provides a positive contribution to optimizing learning for PPG PAUD students.

Process drama and foreign language learning: A case study of preservice teachers learning French

AbstractThis study examines the usefulness of a Process Drama approach for supporting the development of linguistic and communication skills of preservice teachers learning French as a world language in an Early Childhood Education licensure program. Process Drama is an interactive approach to teaching language in which the teacher and students carry out a series of improvisations in the classroom, in which students perform in different types of situations while working on different subjects of the curriculum (Bowell & Heap, 2017; Glass et al., 2013) Through a pretest–posttest design and a qualitative analysis of a questionnaire, findings indicated that preservice teachers improved their pronunciation, intonation, fluency, and nonverbal language in the target language. In addition, they had positive perceptions regarding the experience and the gains they made. Finally, preservice teachers believed that this approach could be implemented with Early Childhood Education students.

Recognizing Modal Versions of Tonality by Students of Preschool and Early Childhood Education

The vast majority of preschool and early childhood teachers admit that they have problems with implementing musical issues. Experimental research indicates that the inability to sing, move to music, differentiate tonality and meter, improvise, read and write down music, is mainly caused by deficits in audiation. The article focuses on research results regarding the effectiveness of recognizing a melody presented instrumentally in eight tonalities: 1. Major; 2. Dorian; 3. Phrygian; 4. Lydian; 5. Mixolydian; 6. Aeolian; 7. Harmonic Minor; 8. Locrian. Due to the purpose of the research, the rhythmic content of all versions was the same, and the procedure used allowed for comparing students’ attention by determining the time of receiving (listening to) the melodic line and the moment at which they gave the answer. Listening skills help develop critical thinking skills, which are important in any form of communication: speaking, singing, reading, writing or synthesizing information.

Learning Experiences and the Development of Critical Thinking in Students of Early Childhood Education at Public Universities – 2023

Introduction: This study explores how learning experiences at public universities impact the development of critical thinking in early education students in 2023. Objective: To determine the influence of learning experiences on the critical thinking of early education students, identifying effective didactic strategies for its promotion. Methodology: Utilizing a quantitative approach, data were collected from 247 early education students across various public universities in Peru through structured surveys. These surveys were designed to measure students' perceptions of their learning experiences and their impact on critical thinking, including items related to communicative, reflective, and problem-solving competencies. The instruments' validation was ensured through reliability and validity analysis, and data were statistically analyzed using SPSS V.25 software to examine the relationships between variables. Results: The findings indicated a positive and significant correlation between carefully designed learning experiences and the enhancement of students' critical thinking. This link underscores the critical value of adopting didactic strategies focused on fostering critical thinking, showing that when students are immersed in learning environments that challenge their abilities and promote reflection, their capacity to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information significantly improves. Conclusions: The findings highlight the necessity for universities to continuously implement and adapt their pedagogical methods to foster meaningful and critical learning. This research contributes to understanding how educational experiences can be designed to enhance critical thinking, providing a foundation for future curricular and pedagogical developments in higher education.

Investigating early childhood education students’ ideas about microorganisms

ABSTRACT Various age groups of students often hold alternative ideas regarding aspects of microorganisms, such as their biological functions, activity and typical habitats. Taking into account that (a) although there are research data on school students’ ideas about microorganisms, there do not seem to be much data on the ideas of university students, and (b) the ideas early childhood education students hold about microorganisms are of particular importance as preschool educators are called to support the building of a proper understanding of microorganisms by preschoolers, we investigated the ideas of 84 early childhood education students about microorganisms, focusing on their perceived locations, beneficial/harmful activities and biological functions. The results reveal a significant number of students associating microorganisms with surfaces, objects we touch and the human body. The prevailing conceptualisation portrays microorganisms as a threat to human health, with the most common harmful activity being the induction of diseases and the most beneficial activity being the stimulation of antibody production that follows the intrusion of microorganisms into the body. Regarding biological functions, there is a limited understanding, with only about one-third of students attributing all essential functions to microorganisms. We discuss relevant literature and explore the potential implications of our findings.

Neurodiversity and Inclusive Education: A Therapeutic and Pedagogical Approach from Music Therapy in Early Childhood Education from a Systematic Review

Neurodiversity from the perspective of inclusive education has generated intervention processes that have been addressed from music therapy in the expression of human diversity in this research addresses the therapeutic approach of intervention from music in the comprehensive care of neurodivergent students. The objective was focused on analyzing the designs and implementations of the effectiveness of music therapy programs in students who present neurodiversity situations through the therapeutic and pedagogical strategies reported from scientific evidence. The method used refers to the systematic review from the PRISMA statement through the analysis of three categories of variables. The discussion focused on the reports and evidence generated from the interventions with music at the level of increasing cognitive, emotional, social and relational development in early childhood education students. In conclusion, it was identified that the promotion of emotional regulation skills, communication dynamics and social integration lead to increased levels of adaptation and inclusion that lead to improved academic success and inclusion in neurodivergent students.

Linguistic games program to develop oral expression in early childhood education students

In this work, the influence of mobile applications in teaching the subject of Language and Literature was evaluated, highlighting their impact on academic skills and educational communication. The participation of these tools in the understanding of content, the interaction between students and teachers, and access to educational resources was analyzed. Theoretical and empirical methods were used, including document review, interviews, performance observation, and pedagogical tests. The sample consisted of 120 teachers. The results showed that 85% of the participants improved their digital skills after receiving training on the use of mobile applications. On the other hand, 90% of the students reported improved communication with teachers and 88% found it easier to understand and analyze literary texts. It was possible to demonstrate that mobile applications promoted collaboration and active learning and are also a valuable resource for optimizing academic performance.

Linguistic games program to develop oral expression in early childhood education students

This work was evaluated through an observational record that measured indicators such as Oral Expression, Clarity, Fluency, Coherence, Intonation and Vocalization, and aimed at improving communication skills in the initial stage of early childhood, crucial for human development. Using a sample of 25 children, the observations were made with an ordinal scale from 0 to 3, and the internal consistency of the items was evaluated by Cronbach's Alpha, whose high values (0.88 to 0.97) indicate high reliability of the assessments. The results show significant variability in the individual scores, highlighting the effectiveness of child-specific pedagogical interventions. These results underscore the importance of continuous and adaptive assessment to foster optimal development of speech skills in children.

The Impact of Quizizz Learning Media in Increasing Interest and Learning Motivation for Early Childhood Education Students

As technology advances in the education sector, there are many updates in the use of learning media, one example is using the Quizizz application. The Quizizz application really helps teachers in the teaching and learning process. The Quizizz application has many interesting features, and makes learning more fun. The quizizz application is one of the learning media chosen by teachers to carry out the learning process for early childhood. The aim of this research is to find out how big the impact of quizizz learning media is in increasing early childhood interest and motivation in learning. This research uses a qualitative method where data is obtained through introducing the Quizizz application to young children and direct interviews with several parties such as teachers and parents of children. The research results show that the use of the Quizizz application in early childhood is carried out well starting from the planning, implementation and evaluation stages. From this research, it can be concluded that the Quizzizz application is very helpful in the children's learning process so that children understand the lessons taught by the teacher more quickly and the interesting features can also increase children's learning motivation. The limitation of this research is that the researcher only conducted research on the quizizz application for early childhood even though there are still many applications that can be used to provide learning motivation for early childhood. The researcher hopes that future researchers can conduct research related to early childhood learning motivation but by using other learning media. This research recommends that future researchers use the research as a reference in conducting research on the impact of the Quizizz application in increasing learning motivation in young children.

Exploring perspectives: Undergraduate experiences and challenges in online education–A qualitative study in the Greek higher education context

The aim of this qualitative study is to provide an understanding about the experiences and challenges of Greek undergraduate early childhood care and education students that continue their studies online during the COVID-19 pandemic. Numerous studies were carried out worldwide, since March 2020, trying to explore students’ experiences of online education. These studies mainly focused on the issues that arose while studying online education during the pandemic. However, qualitative research on the topic is limited. In this study, a phenomenological perspective will be considered to address the experiences and challenges of early childhood education and care undergraduate university students in online education during the pandemic. The purpose is to inform university lecturers about their future online practices. Overall, 64 undergraduate (62 female and 2 male) students participated in an online open-ended questionnaire and were analyzed with the use of interpretive phenomenological analysis. It was revealed that students were anxious studying in a digital learning environment with the main themes that emerged being isolation, lack of motivation and lack of interpersonal communication. However, students expressed their optimism about the successful outcome of the online experience as they showed skills of flexibility and adaptation with regards to the situation. Although Greece does not have a long tradition of online education practices and these students were not enrolled to the course having a distance learning mode in mind, the findings of the study provide evidence that they encountered an overall positive online learning experience.

Relationship between Pedagogical Approaches and Socio-Emotional Development of Students in Early Childhood Education

Socio-emotional development is the process in which students acquire awareness of themselves, interpersonal skills, and decision-making abilities, which are required for success in the classroom, workplace, and life. Normally, schools keep putting more emphasis on learning through rote learning, and socio-emotional skills are overlooked. This study was designed to determine the association between socio-emotional development and pedagogical strategies. The study was descriptive and delimited to the private ECE schools in Rawalpindi. The target population of the study was comprised of all instructors from private ECE institutes. A purposive sampling technique was applied to select forty teachers from twenty private ECE schools. Observational checklists for teachers were self-developed and pilot-tested. The face and content validity of the scale was improved through experts' opinions. Data was collected from teachers personally by the researcher. Researchers spent three-month time for data collection. Data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics and correlation. The findings indicated a positive relationship between pedagogical approaches and the students' socio-emotional development. The effectiveness of these teaching methods for enhancing students' socio-emotional development was found. The study recommends that teachers should encourage games-based activities to utilize the relationship skills of pupils at the early childhood level.

Observation of Socio-Emotional Development among Students in Early Childhood Education

Socio-emotional development is a major concern of teachers’ pedagogical approaches to early childhood education. This research was designed to identify self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship skills among junior students. The study was descriptive in nature, and the target population was comprised of students from ECE private schools in Rawalpindi. Getting consent for classroom observation was a sensitive process, and a sample of 160 students from twenty schools was considered sufficient. The observational tool was divided into four broad categories of socio-emotional development, i.e., self-awareness; self-management; social-awareness; & relationship skills of students. The observational checklist was pilot-tested on forty students, and face validity was improved through experts’ opinions. Data was collected, scored, tabulated, and analyzed by using percentages. Self-awareness among students was prominent, and pupils could identify their emotions when feeling happy, angry, or sad. Students were kept responsible for their work and focused on their tasks without being distracted. Most of the students have good social awareness and possess relationship skills with peers.

예비유아교사의 유치원교사에 대한 이미지 변화 연구

The purpose of this study the images of kindergarten teachers thought bypre-service kindergarten teachers and whether the images of kindergarten teachers thought bypre-service kindergarten teachers change during the teacher training period. In this study, datawere collected through picture metaphors from 42 early childhood education students in thefirst semester of the first year and the first semester of the fourth year. The results of thestudy are as follows. First, the external images of kindergarten teachers thought by prospective early childhood teachers were ‘smiling’, ‘playing with children’, and ‘observingand supporting’, and the internal images of kindergarten teachers were ‘personal qualities’,‘professional competency’, and ‘professional attitudes’. Second, during the teacher trainingperiod, prospective early childhood teachers further consolidated ‘personal qualities’ amonginternal images and became to perceive ‘professional attitudes’ highly. Third, compared to thefirst grade, the fourth grade showed more complex images. With regard to the reason why theimages of kindergarten teachers changed, prospective early childhood teachers answered that‘major learning’ and ‘practical experience’ were important factors. Centering on the studyresults as such, a plan to support image formation that can help understanding teachers’ rolesin kindergarten teacher training was proposed.

Teachers' and Prospective Teachers' Responses to Mentoring in the Creation of PMRI Learning Tools for Early Childhood Education Students

This research aimed to describe the responses of teachers and prospective teachers regarding the mentoring in creating Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) learning tools for early childhood education students using contexts from the surrounding environment. Environmental contexts were used in the learning process to understand concepts or learning materials more concretely. This was a qualitative descriptive research study. The data collection techniques used were explanations, question and answer sessions, and exercises. The result of this research was positive responses from teachers and prospective teachers based on the creation of PMRI learning tools for PAUD students using contexts from the surrounding environment.

CONECTANDO RESISTÊNCIA E AFETOS COM A CONSTRUÇÃO DE UM GRAFITE NA EDUCAÇÃO INFANTIL

This article sought to narrate the daily development of a pedagogical activity using digital graffiti with Early Childhood Education students from a public school in Aparecida de Goiânia, during the transition from the Covid-19 pandemic to the post-pandemic period. The aim is to demonstrate how the practice of digital graffiti can be employed in Early Childhood Education to promote children’s creative expression and socio-emotional education. The methodology adopted was an exploratory, descriptive investigation based on the authors’ experiences and the adaptation of the Physical Education curriculum to incorporate digital graffiti activities. The sessions were structured in four stages, each inspired by songs and relevant artists from the Hip Hop movement, guiding reflections on the pandemic and the collective creation of digital graffiti. The main results include enhancing creative expression through digital graffiti and integrating digital technology into children’s educational processes. Additionally, the activity allowed participants to share experiences related to overcoming the pandemic period, strengthening their socio-emotional skills. It is concluded that digital graffiti can be used as an important curricular tool in Early Childhood Education, expanding interaction through play and paving the way for hybrid teaching models that combine innovative pedagogical practices in cyberculture.

Differential socioemotional and educational profiles in early childhood and primary education students in a lockdown situation.

Recent lockdown situations have highlighted social relationship deprivation of schoolchildren and the need to develop the teaching-learning process in informal contexts. The aim of this study was to analyze differential socioemotional and educational profiles in Early Childhood and Primary Education students using variables relating to academic performance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Correlational, descriptive, and inferential statistical analyses were performed that yielded differential explanatory models depending on the stage of education. The results reveal statistically significant differences in all the variables except for family-school relationship. In the linear regression models, the most statistically significant variable for school performance in both stages was family-school relationship. However, differences were found between both profiles: emotional impact for Early Childhood Education students and social impact for Primary Education students. Lastly, leisure activities at home were included as an explanatory variable only in the Primary Education regression model. The final conclusions highlight the need to attend to the evolutionary characteristics of students in each stage to improve school performance in similar lockdown situations.

예비유아교사의 학과 적응 어려움에 대응하기 위한 선후배 멘토링 프로그램 지원 요구에 관한 연구

This study was conducted with the aim of gaining basic information for the development of seniors and juniors mentoring program to help students adapt to the department and perform their studies in the 3-year early childhood education department. The subjects of this study were 168 students in the department of three-year early childhood education at H University. Questionnaires, journal writing, and focus group interviews were conducted to find out the difficulties of early childhood education, adaptation, and academic performance, and necessary support in the mentoring program for seniors and juniors. Data analysis was not conducted after all data was collected, but both were rather done simultaneously. Primary data analysis was performed after conducting a questionnaire on difficulties and necessary support related to departmental adaptation and academic performance. Based on this, a list of questions for focus group interview was extracted, and an in-depth interview was conducted. The subjects were then asked to write a journal about their experience of the existing mentoring program. By repetitively collecting and analyzing data in this way, the data analysis results were revised and supplemented. As a result of the study, the difficulties of current students of 3-year early childhood education and demands for necessary support for them in the mentoring program were analyzed into five categories: study, human relations, time and self-management, school life, and career path. Early childhood education students’ difficulties concerning departmental adaptation diversified as they moved to the next grade. And the categories that they required help through mentoring for seniors and juniors decreased as they moved to the next grade. Based on the above results, ways to organize a mentoring program for seniors and juniors was suggested.

Socio-educational strategies plan for the development of psychomotor skills in early childhood edu-cation students

The development of psychomotor skills allows students to demonstrate movement skills, knowledge and social relationships that strengthen the personality of the individual. The purpose of the study was to propose a plan of socio-educational strategies for the development of psychomotor skills in early education students of the Sewarare 1200 kindergarten, located in Mexico. It was configured within a quantitative paradigm, of a descriptive-projective type, with a transversal non-experimental design, with a sample of 47 students and 4 teachers, to whom a questionnaire structured in two parts was applied. The results showed that initial education teachers in the area of Physical Education have moderate and low knowledge in the management of socio-educational strategies. While the students demonstrated a moderate and low level of psychomotor competencies. Hence the need to propose a plan of socio-educational strategies for the development of psychomotor skills in students which offers elements of experiences, adaptation to space, relationship with others, bringing rewarding and healthy emotions, essential for the future performance of the learner in the different facets of life, besides being a pedagogical tool to help teachers to contribute and improve their school practice.
