Evaluation of the Character Education Strengthening Program in Elementary Schools in View from CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product)

This research aims to evaluate the context, input, process, and products in the character education strengthening program at SD Muhammadiyah 05 Pekanbaru. The approach used in this research was qualitative with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Meanwhile, data analysis techniques included reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research showed that the character education program at SD Muhammadiyah 05 Pekanbaru had proven to be effective. This can be seen from several aspects: First, the context aspect, where most of it has been fulfilled well. Program procedures, which include a clear and detailed vision, mission, goals, and background, were in accordance with community needs. It is evidenced by the increasing number of students studying and student participation in extracurricular activities, as well as student enthusiasm in carrying out character education programs. Second, is the input aspect, where most of the input components have been fulfilled properly. The majority of teachers implemented character education programs effectively. Third, the process aspect, where all components had been implemented quite well. This can be seen from the value of students' discipline and curiosity, as well as the enthusiasm of educators in guiding and directing students in implementing character education, both in the classroom and outside the classroom. Fourth, the product aspect, where most of the product components of the character education program at SD Muhammadiyah 05 Pekanbaru had shown satisfactory results. This can be seen from the instillation of character values carried out, as well as the implementation or habituation of character education carried out by each student in activities at school. Apart from that, the achievements achieved, both in the academic and non-academic fields, also showed the success of this program.

Web-Based System Enhances Extracurricular Management Efficiency in Educational Institutions

Background: The advancement of information technology has significantly influenced educational management, particularly in managing extracurricular activities within schools. Specific Background: Traditional methods of managing these activities often lead to time-consuming processes and ineffective communication, highlighting the need for a more efficient system. Knowledge Gap: While various management systems exist, few specifically address the challenges faced in managing extracurricular activities effectively and transparently. Aims: This research aims to develop and implement a web-based Extracurricular Management Information System (SIMAK) to enhance efficiency and transparency in managing extracurricular activities. Results: Utilizing Agile methodology with the Scrum model and the Laravel framework, the study successfully developed the SIMAK application, which supports activity registration, schedule management, attendance tracking, and student assessments. The implementation of SIMAK resulted in improved administrative efficiency, streamlined processes, and increased transparency in information access for administrators, coaches, and students. Novelty: This study presents a unique approach to extracurricular management by leveraging modern technology and methodologies to address existing inefficiencies in educational settings. Implications: The findings suggest that the SIMAK application not only enhances the management of extracurricular activities but also encourages greater student participation and provides schools with better data for decision-making. Overall, the application significantly contributes to optimizing students' educational experiences outside the classroom, promoting a more organized and transparent approach to extracurricular management. Attitudes of Saudi Students Towards EFL, English teachers and learning situations

This research investigated students' attitudes towards learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in Saudi Arabia. Specifically, the study detected Saudi EFL students towards English language, English teachers and learning situations. Data were gathered via a questionnaire from a randomly selected sample of 150 Saudi students. Quantitative analysis was conducted using SPSS version 28, with findings presented through tables and interpreted using Mean Scores and Standard Deviation. The study indicated that students have high positive attitudes among Saudi students towards studying EFL. The study also found that students showed moderate perceptions about English teachers and learning situations. The study recommended collaborative efforts to improve the recruitment of proficient English teachers and encourage student participation in extracurricular activities aimed at enhancing English-speaking skills and fostering positive attitudes towards language learning.

Extracurricular Activities Involvement and Compassion towards Enhanced Student Participation in Extracurricular Activities for Holistic Education

Extracurricular Activities Involvement refers to a student’s participation in extracurricular activities (ECA), while compassion pertains to the acknowledgment of someone’s suffering. This research assessed the participants’ compassion level and ECA involvement and evaluated the variables’ degree of correlation using a correlational method under a quantitative research design. It was distributed through a combination of systematic and stratified sampling methods on 240 Senior High School students of First City Providential College through a survey questionnaire to measure their ECA involvement and compassion level. The survey was done using published and pre-made validated questionnaires from the Extracurricular Activity Involvement (EAI) Scale and Compassion Scale (CS). The findings found that students can examine and think critically about their behaviors by actively participating in ECAs as common humanity garnered the highest frequency. Meanwhile, not being involved in ECAs was the highest frequency which suggests that some students refuse to participate in ECAs because they believe it might interfere with their studies. The Chi-square test was also utilized for statistical analysis of data and indicated that ECA involvement has a significant role in improving the students’ compassion as it creates more impact on the motivation of students than in most academic classrooms. Lastly, it is recommended to conduct an enhanced student participation program in various extracurricular activities among Senior High School students which will reach a minimum involvement along with an expected development of compassion and holistic education.

Implementation of Archery Class Management at the Pre-Extracurricular Program Stage To Increase Elementary School Students' Interest

One of the non-academic extracurricular activities that can be developed in elementary schools is archery, because it has many benefits at the stage of student growth and development. This research is quantitative with a one group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design. The research was carried out at SD Muhammadiyah Jogokaryan with subjects aged 10-12 years. The sample was taken using a simple random sampling method in classes IV - VI totaling 15 students. The interest data collection technique is by giving a questionnaire before and after the implementation of the archery extracurricular pre-program. The implementation of the extracurricular archery pre-program is carried out by students practicing archery at a distance of 4-8 meters by shooting 6 arrows in each session and carried out in 12 sessions. The results of the Wilcoxon test on the output ranks have a negative rank value between the pre-test and post-test at a value (n) of 2, a mean rank of 3.50 and a sum rank of 7.00, meaning there is no decrease from the pre-test value to the post-test value. The positive rank value between the pre-test and post-test is a value (n) of 13, meaning that 13 students experienced an increase in interest scores from the pre-test score to the post-test score. The mean rank increase in value is 8.69 and the sum of ranks is 113.00. Meanwhile, the tie value is 0, meaning that there are no pairs of data that remain the same between the pre-test and post-test. Apart from that, it is known that the significance value is 0.003 <0.05, meaning that there is a significant increase in the results of student interest scores between the pretest and posttest. Furthermore, based on the results of the n-gain score test, the average value is 0.58, so it is considered moderate effectiveness. The conclusion is that the implementation of archery class management at the pre-extracurricular program stage has a significant effect on increasing students' interest in participating in archery extracurriculars. However, the effectiveness of implementing archery training at the pre-extracurricular program stage in increasing interest is included in the moderate effectiveness category which is allegedly due to limited socialization and facilities and infrastructure for archery sports. The factors that influence archery performance include practice management, teaching methods, class management, and student interest. Meanwhile, teacher professionalism in classroom management also contributes significantly to the effectiveness of learning and increasing student interest. External support such as the school environment and parents also have a significant influence on student participation in extracurricular activities. PENGARUH KEIKUTSERTAAN DALAM KEGIATAN EKSTRAKURIKULER TERHADAP PRESTASI BELAJAR MELALUI KEDISIPLINAN BELAJAR SISWA SEKOLAH MENENGAH ATAS

This study explores the impact of student participation in extracurricular activities on learning achievement mediated by learning discipline. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Seberida, Indragiri Hulu Regency, with a sample of 30 students in class XI IPS. This research uses a quantitative approach with descriptive quantitative research type, the data analysis used to test the hypothesis is path analysis. The results showed that extracurricular activities have a positive but insignificant direct and indirect effect on learning achievement mediated by student discipline. The results of this study confirm previous research which states that there is a positive and significant effect of participation in extracurricular activities on discipline and learning achievement. However, this study was able to show that discipline and learning achievement can be controlled by school management policies in maintaining student discipline and achievement.

Assistance in the Implementation of Madrasah-Based Management at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah Ummul Quran An-Nurani Tembilahan

The aim of this service activity is to implement madrasa-based management by interns at MTs Ummul Quran An-Nurani Tembilahan, the method used in this activity is mentoring, and interviews with the head of the madrasah for this service activity. With full dedication and commitment, the interns have succeeded in devoting themselves to implementing madrasa-based management at MTs Ummul Quran An-Nurani Tembilahan well. Through collaborative efforts and hard work, they have succeeded in integrating the principles of Islamic education into the daily management of the school. Intern participants have demonstrated a deep understanding of the madrasa's vision, mission and values, and are able to design and implement appropriate strategic steps to strengthen the identity and improve the quality of Islamic education in the school. By taking detailed planning steps, organizing various activities, and conducting thorough evaluations, they have helped create a learning environment that is conducive and supportive for holistic student growth and development. The results of their dedication are seen in continuous improvements in various aspects of school life, including academic aspects, leadership, discipline, and student participation in extracurricular activities oriented towards the development of Islamic values. In this way, the interns have proven themselves to be effective agents of change in advancing the vision and mission of madrasa education at MTs Ummul Quran An-Nurani Tembilahan.

Implementasi Kebijakan Pendidikan di MTs PAB 2 Sampali

This research discusses the planning, implementation and evaluation of educational policies at MTs PAB 2 Sampali as an integral part of efforts to improve the quality of secondary education. Qualitative methods were used with interviews, observation and document analysis. Madrasa heads were the main respondents, ensuring an in-depth understanding of the dynamics of policy implementation. 1) Policy planning begins with identifying needs and challenges involving analysis of student achievement, facilities and curriculum development. Consultation and participation of stakeholders, including teachers, parents and students, is the next step. Goals and objectives are set with a focus on improving achievement, strengthening the curriculum, and student participation. 2) The implementation process begins with careful planning, communication and socialization of policies to stakeholders, training and professional development for teachers, full implementation of policies, and ongoing evaluation. Positive impacts can be seen in increasing student achievement, student participation in extracurricular activities, and parental involvement. However, limited resources and resistance to change are challenges that need to be overcome. 3) This research provides a positive picture of MTs PAB 2 Sampali's efforts to improve the quality of education through policy planning, implementation and evaluation. Even though challenges exist, a commitment to continuous improvement can make this institution an inspiring example in planning education policies that have a positive impact.

ANALISIS DAN PERANCANGAN SISTEM INFORMASI MANAJEMEN EKSTRAKURIKULER DI SD KARTKA X-3

SD Kartika X-3 stands out among elementary schools in West Bandung due to its exceptional non-academic achievements, which is why the school mandates student participation in extracurricular activities. However, managing a large number of extracurricular members poses challenges for the school. These issues encompass the registration process, reporting of values, data retrieval, and communication regarding extracurricular activities. To address these challenges, the authors have developed an Extracurricular Management Information System. Data collection methods employed include observation, interviews, and documentation, with the system development based on the prototype methodology. System analysis involves tools like Flowmap and evaluation tables, while system design employs UML diagrams, such as Use Case Diagrams, Activity Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams, and Class Diagrams, in addition to utilizing Balsamiq for interface design, and MySQL for database design. System testing is conducted using the BlackBox approach. The Extracurricular Management Information System streamlines extracurricular data management, prevents paper accumulation, and facilitates the generation of attendance reports.

FACTORS THAT AFFECT PEOPLE'S PARTICIPATION IN TABLE TENNIS

The term "core co-curricular" refers to extracurricular activities or electives that students may enroll in as extra classes for their academic work. Currently, there is no study on the factors that influence student involvement in extracurricular activities, especially table tennis at the higher education level. Student participation in extracurricular activities is influenced by various factors. therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the factors that influence the involvement of Chinese students in a university in table tennis activities as their co-curriculum. 101 respondents from Chinese universities were randomly selected. Data was collected using a questionnaire that was part of a research tool that underwent reliability testing and expert validation procedures. The overall findings of the study show that several factors, such as practicality, interest, and academic concern, have a significant impact on student involvement in table tennis extracurricular activities. Through regression analysis, the cause is identified. Teachers have a big impact on how often students play table tennis outside of school. Because of this, academic staff should use more effort and influence to ensure that students are actively involved in the university's co-curricular table tennis curriculum.

The impact of clean intermittent catheterization on students and families in the school environment.

Clean intermittent catheterization (CIC) is often used for bladder emptying in children with lower urinary tract dysfunction. Until recently, the emphasis in assessing the effects of CIC has been on preserving kidney function, reducing urinary tract infection, and achieving urinary continence. Few studies have investigated the impact of CIC on students and families in a school setting. This study sought to examine what students and caregivers experienced when CIC was required during the school day and how schools adjusted to a student needing to perform it. A phenomenological approach utilizing semistructured interviews was performed to understand the impact of CIC on students. Purposeful sampling identified eligible families. A guide was developed from expert opinion validated by a pilot sample with feedback collated into a family/provider codesigned questionnaire. Interviews emphasized the impact and challenges students faced at school. Transcripts were coded using Dedoose software with emerging themes identified and a code book was created for closed coding that led to thematic analysis. A total of 40 families (52 caregivers and children > 12 years) were interviewed. Emergent themes included: Caregivers and students felt (1) school personnel were not always aware of nor prepared regarding the implications of CIC; (2) school bathrooms were often less than ideal (e.g., location, size, cleanliness, privacy, and availability); and (3) student participation in extracurricular activities was challenging. This study identifies potential areas of intervention in meeting the needs of students who require CIC and the importance of having collaborative efforts of caregivers, health care providers, and school personnel in addressing and meeting CIC needs. Care coordination that involves consistent communication and careful planning between health care teams, school personnel, students, and caregivers can optimize a student's educational experience.

Peran Kerjasama Organisasi Sekolah Dalam Meningkatkan Kualitas Pendidikan Di MTs YLPI Ibaadurrahman

This study aims to analyze the role of school organizational cooperation in improving the quality of education at MTs YLPI Ibaadurrahman. School organizational cooperation has a significant role in creating a quality and competitive educational environment. Through close cooperation between all relevant parties, including school leaders, teachers, students and parents, various initiatives and programs can be implemented effectively. This research uses a qualitative approach by collecting data through interviews, observations, and document analysis related to school organizational cooperation at MTs YLPI Ibaadurrahman. The collected data were analyzed thematically to identify the role and impact of school organizational cooperation on the quality of education. The results showed that school organizational cooperation at MTs YLPI Ibaadurrahman has an important role in improving the quality of education. Through synergistic cooperation, school organizations can carry out various activities, such as curriculum development, teacher training, student coaching, and procurement of adequate educational resources. This cooperation also includes collaboration with parents in supporting home learning and optimizing their role as educational partners. In the context of MTs YLPI Ibaadurrahman, the cooperation of school organizations has had a positive impact on the quality of education. This can be seen from the increase in student academic achievement, increased student participation in extracurricular activities, and increased parental satisfaction with the learning process. In addition, this collaboration also contributes to creating an inclusive, harmonious and supportive school climate. In conclusion, school organizational cooperation has an important role in improving the quality of education at MTs YLPI Ibaadurrahman. With close cooperation between school leaders, teachers, students and parents, various programs and initiatives can be carried out effectively, thus creating a quality and competitive educational environment. It is recommended that this collaboration continue to be improved and implemented on an ongoing basis to optimize the quality of education and produce quality graduates.

Campus Recreational Sports Participation and Academic Cheating: A Pilot Study

College student participation in extracurricular activities is recognized as a contributing factor to an increase in academic cheating behaviors. National Intramural and Recreational Sport Association (NIRSA)-sponsored sports emphasize that all participants demonstrate appropriate ethical behaviors (i.e., sportsmanship) throughout competition. This study explores the impact that participation in recreational sports programs in college has on the frequency of self-reported instances of academic cheating. Specifically, we assess whether participation in NIRSA-sponsored activities which focus on the development of ethical behaviors in sports (i.e., sportsmanship), translates into ethical behaviors in the classroom, as measured through self-reported instances of academic dishonesty. Results show that participation in NIRSA-sponsored programs is directly related to an increase in self-reported instances of academic cheating.

Exploring the Impact of Socio-Economic Status on Student Participation in Extracurricular Activities

Understanding the impact of socioeconomic status on student participation in co-curricular activities is essential for promoting equity and inclusivity in education, ensuring that all students, regardless of their background, can fully engage in and benefit from these activities. This research aimed to investigate the level of student engagement in co-curricular activities among secondary school students in Sri Lanka, specifically focusing on the influence of socioeconomic status, such as parent income and parent education. The study used a survey research design and a questionnaire as the primary data collection instrument. A stratified random sampling technique was employed to select a sample of 1350 secondary school students. Descriptive analyses, including mean and standard deviation, were employed to analyse data. MANOVA was conducted to explore the relationship between socioeconomic status and student participation in co-curricular activities. The assessment of the internal consistency of the instrument was conducted by calculating Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, which yielded a value of 0.940 for measuring access to educational resources. The findings of the study demonstrated that student participation in extracurricular activities with a mean score of 3.351 and Standard Deviation 0.939, and the interpretation is moderately high. The MANOVA analysis of the study revealed there are significant differences based on educational level towards student participation in extracurricular activities as the student participation in co-curricular activities significantly icreases as parent highest educational level increases. However, results of the study shows that there is no any significant differences of student participation in co- curricular activities based on parental income. By addressing these factors, educational institutions can strive to ensure that students from all socio-economic backgrounds have equal access to and benefit from extracurricular activities. In light of the study’s findings, there is a compelling need for educational institutions to proactively tailor and enhance their co-curricular programs, taking into account the influence of socioeconomic factors, to create more equitable opportunities for all students.

Reforming Islamic Education in Iran: Creating An Emancipated and Creative Generation

This research focuses on the theme of Islamic education reform in Iran, which aims to produce an emancipated and creative generation. The Islamic Republic of Iran has implemented a series of education reforms that prioritize the development of technical and vocational skills, entrepreneurship, interpersonal skills, and the cultivation of students' character and morality. The goal of these programs is to prepare students to face the challenges of the global job market and to advance the Iranian economy. Moreover, the Iranian government has introduced a series of initiatives to promote critical thinking and creativity in its education system. For instance, it has integrated modern technology into its educational system, established research centers and incubators, and encouraged student participation in extracurricular activities. As a result of these reforms, many Iranian students have emerged as successful graduates in various fields, including technology, science, business, and arts. Therefore, this abstract concludes that the Islamic education reform in Iran has been successful in creating a generation of students who are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to compete in the global job market and contribute to the advancement of their country's economy. Furthermore, it has also fostered a culture of critical thinking, creativity, and innovation among students, which will be critical to the country's continued progress in the future.

Students’ continuing personal development (S-CPD) - a scheme to promote student engagement in extra-curricular activities

PurposeThis paper presents an overview of a lifelong learning scheme. It outlines the design of the scheme that was initially targeted for electrical and electronic engineering students and later students across the faculty of engineering in the University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM). The scheme named “Students’ Continuing Personal Development (S-CPD)” is developed to improve student participation in extra-curricular activities and at the same time, to create awareness among students of the importance of lifelong learning and to facilitate the development of such skills.Design/methodology/approachThe scheme involves creating and developing more than 30 categories of activities together with a well-structured information technology infrastructure. Various strategies, such as offering awards, are applied to promote student engagement. In 2015 the pilot scheme was rolled out in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus and adopted by all departments in the faculty of engineering in the subsequent year.FindingsS-CPD scheme is aligned to the importance institutions of engineers in the world places on continuing professional development and also to the importance industry and employer places on transferable skills. The scheme provides students with a structured way to plan, participate and record their participation in extra-curricular activities that is relevant to their future careers as engineers in a holistic way. S-CPD scheme not only provides a good platform for students to hone particular “soft” skills and they are also aware of the importance and engaging in lifelong learning to make the most out of their university and also life experience.Research limitations/implicationsThis research could lead to many other studies including the factors that affect students' engagement in extra-curricular activities, short-term and long-term impacts of S-CPD scheme, and also involve psychology research such as psychological factors influencing students' engagement in the scheme.Practical implicationsThis scheme could be repeated in worldwide university programmes.Originality/valueThe S-CPD scheme can be viewed as having a two-pronged growth strategy. The first is to engage students in extra-curricular activities that enhance and improve their learning and personal experiences. The second prong of the growth strategy is to inculcate the growth mindset for lifelong learning, hence adapting well when their profession involves fulfilling CPD requirements.

CRESDA: towards a personalized student advisory for professional development

ABSTRACT Student participation in extracurricular activities has been proven to be as an important element in personal development and become an indicator of their competencies in relation to their future career success. However, participation in extracurricular activities is not systematically recorded and is difficult to be used for planning and reflection. Therefore, a repository was developed to record student participation in extracurricular activities. Activity organizers can define the attributes (codified competencies) based on the learning objectives, learning activities and expected learning outcomes; and can link these attributes to the corresponding extracurricular activity. We performed two case studies. One showed that different sets of competencies are needed by students in different disciplines, while the other demonstrated the correlation between extracurricular activities participation and academic performance within a discipline. Riding on these findings, we proposed an approach towards personalized student advisory on professional development.

Evaluation of a Flipped Classroom Model: A Case Study from Oman

The flipped learning approach over the years has gained importance, especially in higher educational establishments that primarily focus on more personalized learning for the students. In this context, the current study evaluates a flipped learning approach which was implemented by a higher education institution from the Middle East region as a pilot project and analyses the impact of the flipped approach on the student performance from the educators’ perspective. The study focuses on different aspects like the impact of the flipped approach on student performance in a different type of assessments, the impact of the flipped approach on academic performance, learning and development, and academic support activities. Also, this article analyses whether flipped learning reduces the plagiarism cases, impact on student attendance, student participation in extracurricular activities, impact on student’s knowledge, influence on student collaboration, effect on improvement in the ability to solve problems and impact of this approach on helping students to take the responsibility of their learning and become self-learners. This study empirically identified the learning outcomes from a flipped class and provides recommendations for the educators and higher education institutions for successful implementation of the flipped learning approach.

This research is motivated by an activity to foster the talents, interests and skills of students in the school, which are called extracurricular activities in cultural arts and dance. This study aims to determine the form of student participation in extracurricular activities in dance culture, as well as factors that inhibit the participation of students in extracurricular activities in dance culture. This study uses a type of descriptive qualitative research aimed at gaining a general understanding of social reality from a participant's perspective. The technique of collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data is analyzed using Data Reduction, Data Presentation, and Verification of Data and conclusions scientifically. The results of this study indicate the form of student participation in extracurricular activities in dance culture arts. The number of eighth grade students in the MTs Negeri Kota Ternate Ternate is 219 students. Only 50 students participated in extracurricular activities. This shows that the participation of students in extracurricular activities is very minimal. Because students are less interested and less like extracurricular activities in dance culture. Factors that hinder the participation of students in extracurricular activities in dance culture are mostly male students who feel inferior to participate in extracurricular activities in the field of dance culture, this is due to male students assume that extracurricular activities in dance culture are especially for female students. So that students who take extracurricular activities in the art of dance culture are mostly female students compared to male students. The Effect of Time Management on Academic Performance among Students of Jazan University

Background: Many students could not manage their times efficiently before being students in college since they did not have any challenges or difficulties in high school. However, the case changed completely when they are attending college. Being a student in college means that the responsibility is bigger and the courses are more difficult than what they were in high school. Aim: The research aimed to determine the relationship between the time management skills and academic performance of students, to assess time management and practice among students, to determine patterns of time management among Jazan University students. In addition to determine whether student participation in extra-curricular activities and social media correlates to his or her cumulative grade point average (CGPA). Method: The study design is a cross-sectional study of the effect of time management on academic performance. Conducted it in Jazan University for medical and non-medical students. Results: The study conducted on 491 participants of female (53.80%) and male (46.20%) students. The Applied Medical Science students (24.20%) stated that they just consumed their time to complete homework, while Faculty of Science students (9.40%) reported that they rarely have time to do. We find that 44.2% of male and 65% of female never participate in student club, while 43.50% of male and 15.60% of female always do sports and 12.90% of male and 4.20% of female always planning for these activities. Conclusion: Students who had opportunities to practice time management skills revield better academic performance in addition to the differences in the time management level between students according to faculty, gender and curriculum.
