Magnetoresistance and magnetic field-induced phase transition in two-dimensional antiferromagnet Fe1/3NbS2

We perform systematic studies on the magnetic and magnetotransport properties of Fe1/3NbS2 single crystal. Results show that Fe1/3NbS2 is an antiferromagnet with strong perpendicular magnetocrystalline anisotropy even in the paramagnetic state. The Fe1/3NbS2 nanoplate exhibits exotic magnetotransport characteristics with variation of temperature and magnetic field in the vicinity of Néel temperature. The temperature dependence of resistivity indicates that the magnetic field has a substantial effect on the Néel order of Fe1/3NbS2, and an intermediate phase occurs before the sample enters into the antiferromagnetic state. It is the field- or temperature-induced antiferromagnetic–intermediate phase and intermediate phase–paramagnetic phase transitions that lead to the novel magnetotransport characteristics in the vicinity of Néel temperature. The findings in this work will promote future studies based on two-dimensional antiferromagnetic spintronics.

Optical control of 4f orbital state in rare-earth metals.

A change of orbital state alters the coupling between ions and their surroundings drastically. Orbital excitations are hence key to understand and control interaction of ions. Rare-earth elements with strong magneto-crystalline anisotropy (MCA) are important ingredients for magnetic devices. Thus, control of their localized 4f magnetic moments and anisotropy is one major challenge in ultrafast spin physics. With time-resolved x-ray absorption and resonant inelastic scattering experiments, we show for Tb metal that 4f-electronic excitations out of the ground-state multiplet occur after optical pumping. These excitations are driven by inelastic 5d-4f-electron scattering, altering the 4f-orbital state and consequently the MCA with important implications for magnetization dynamics in 4f-metals and more general for the excitation of localized electronic states in correlated materials.

Spin-reorientation driven emergent phases and unconventional magnetotransport in quasi-2D vdW ferromagnet Fe4GeTe2

Non-trivial spin textures driven by strong exchange interaction, magneto-crystalline anisotropy, and electron correlation in a low-dimensional magnetic material often lead to unusual electronic transitions. Through a combination of transport experiments in exfoliated nanoflakes down to 16 layers and first principle calculations, we unravel emergent electronic phases in quasi-2D van der Waals ferromagnet, Fe4GeTe2, possessing ferromagnetic TC ~ 270 K, along with a spin-reorientation transition (TSR ~ 120 K) with the change of magnetic easy axis. Two electronic transitions are identified. The first transition near TSR exhibits a sharp fall in resistivity, followed by a sign change in the ordinary Hall coefficient (R0), together with, maximum negative magnetoresistance (MR) and anomalous Hall conductivity. Another unusual electronic transition, hitherto unknown, is observed near ~ 40–50 K (TQ), where R0 again changes sign and below which, the resistivity shows a quadratic temperature dependence, and MR becomes positive. An analysis of the experimental data further uncovers the role of competing inelastic scattering processes in anomalous magnetotransport behavior. The density-functional theory based first-principle calculations unveil two possible magnetic phases, followed by a low-energy model Hamiltonian which captures the essence of these phases as well as explains the observed magnetotransport behavior. Thus, we demonstrate an interplay between magnetism and band topology and its consequence on electron transport in Fe4GeTe2, important for spintronic applications.

Giant anisotropic Gilbert damping and spin wave propagations in single-crystal magnetic insulator

Gilbert damping in magnetic systems describes the relaxation of magnetization. This term was phenomenologically introduced into the Landau–Lifschitz–Gilbert (LLG) equation to describe spin dynamics. In most studies, such as magnetic random access memory, spin-wave propagations, and microwave devices, it has been assumed that the Gilbert damping is an isotropic constant. In this study, we uncover a giant anisotropic Gilbert damping parameter of up to 431% in single-crystal thin films of epitaxial [100]-oriented yttrium iron garnet (YIG) using angle-dependent ferromagnetic resonance. In contrast, the Gilbert damping parameter of a [111]-oriented YIG film is almost isotropic. The observed anisotropic damping is shown to have a similar fourfold symmetry with magneto-crystalline anisotropy. The anisotropic spin-wave group velocity (vg), relaxation time (τ), and decay length (ld) were also experimentally evaluated through spin-wave spectra of [100]-oriented YIG thin film. We developed the LLG equation with the introduction of an anisotropic orbital Gilbert damping term. This anisotropic orbital damping originates from the crystal-field dominated anisotropic spin–orbit coupling and orbital-related magnon–phonon coupling. Our results extend the understanding of the mechanism of anisotropic Gilbert damping in single-crystal magnetic insulators with strong magneto-crystalline anisotropy.

Large ordered moment with strong easy-plane anisotropy and vortex-domain pattern in the kagome ferromagnet Fe3Sn

We report the magnetic anisotropy of kagome bilayer ferromagnet Fe3Sn probed by the bulk magnetometry and magnetic force microscopy (MFM) on high-quality single crystals. The dependence of magnetization on the orientation of the external magnetic field reveals strong easy-plane magnetocrystalline anisotropy and anisotropy of the saturation magnetization. The leading magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant shows a monotonous increase from K1≈−1.0×106 J/m3 at 300 K to −1.3×106 J/m3 at 2 K. Our ab initio electronic structure calculations yield the value of total magnetic moment of 7.1 μB/f.u. and a magnetocrystalline anisotropy energy density of −0.57 meV/f.u. (−1.62×106J/m3) both being in reasonable agreement with the experimental values. The MFM imaging reveals micrometer-scale magnetic vortices with weakly pinned cores that vanish at the saturation field of ∼3 T applied perpendicular to the kagome plane. The observed vortex-domain structure is well reproduced by the micromagnetic simulations, using the experimentally determined value of the anisotropy and exchange stiffness.

Additive Manufacturing With Strontium Hexaferrite-Photoresist Composite

Millimeter wave components, such as circulators and isolators, frequently use magnetic fields to break symmetry of the signal propagation and provide unidirectional signal transmission. While effective, these components have not seen the level of miniaturization of other millimeter wave components, primarily due to the discrete nature of the magnets used in the components. Using circulators in the 40-50 GHz range as a motivating application, requirements arise for the deposited films, namely immunity to eddy currents, sufficient magnetization to act as self-biasing magnets, and out-of-plane orientation of the self-biasing field. Based on these required properties, hexaferrite materials are selected for their strong magnetocrystalline anisotropy (MCA) and low conductance. The difficulty of integrating these components monolithically with monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMIC) originates from the incompatibility of crystal structure with standard semiconductor materials and process conditions. Additive manufacturing using a composite of strontium hexaferrite (SrFe12O19) particles and photoresist has been chosen as a method to overcome the difficulties of integrating hexaferrite material to semiconductor substrates. Due to their large internal anisotropy field, the particles of strontium hexaferrite tend to rotate to the field direction instead of changing magnetization direction under application of an external magnetic field (less than the anisotropy field). We have developed a method for 3D printing composites of high strontium hexaferrite concentration (up to 20% by volume) in a liquid photoresist, SU8. Rotation of hexaferrite particles in polymer matrix and thus magnetic anisotropy has been demonstrated in the composite, which is subsequently cured to hold the physical position and orientation of the particles. The anisotropy of the self-biasing field provided by the films has been experimentally characterized, and a ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) frequency ~43 GHz has been observed. We have also characterized the viscosity of the particle-laden polymer at different particle concentrations. 3D printing of this composite with poling will make it possible to directly print magnetic components that require out-of-plane anisotropic magnetization.

Even-Odd-Layer-Dependent Ferromagnetism in 2D Non-van-der-Waals CrCuSe2.

Van der Waals (vdW) layered materials with strong magnetocrystalline anisotropy have attracted significant interest as the long-range magnetic order in these systems can survive even when their thicknesses is reduced to the 2D limit. Even though the interlayer coupling between the neighboring magnetic layers is very weak, it has a determining effect on the magnetism of these atomic-thickness materials. Herein, a new 2D ferromagnetic material, namely, non-vdW CuCrSe2 nanosheets with even-odd-layer-dependent ferromagnetism when laminated from an antiferromagnetic bulk is reported. Monolayer and even-layer CuCrSe2 exhibit the anomalous Hall effect and a significantly enhanced magnetic ordering temperature of more than 125 K. In contrast, the linear Hall effect exists in the odd-layer samples. Theoretical calculations indicate that the layer-dependent magnetic coupling is attributable to the orbital shift of the Cr atoms in the CrSe2 layers owing to the Cu-induced breaking of the centrosymmetry. Thus, this work sheds light on the exotic magnetic properties of layered materials that exhibit phenomena beyond weak interlayer interactions.

Spin-flip-driven anomalous Hall effect and anisotropic magnetoresistance in a layered Ising antiferromagnet

The influence of magnetocrystalline anisotropy in antiferromagnets is evident in a spin flip or flop transition. Contrary to spin flops, a spin-flip transition has been scarcely presented due to its specific condition of relatively strong magnetocrystalline anisotropy and the role of spin-flips on anisotropic phenomena has not been investigated in detail. In this study, we present antiferromagnet-based functional properties on an itinerant Ising antiferromagnet Ca0.9Sr0.1Co2As2. In the presence of a rotating magnetic field, anomalous Hall conductivity and anisotropic magnetoresistance are demonstrated, the effects of which are maximized above the spin-flip transition. Moreover, a joint experimental and theoretical study is conducted to provide an efficient tool to identify various spin states, which can be useful in spin-processing functionalities.

Effect of Annealing on the Magnetic Properties of Co2MnSi-Based Heusler Alloy Glass-Coated Microwires

In the current study, we concentrated on the influence of annealing on the magnetic behavior of Co2MnSi-based Heusler microwires. We set the annealing temperature at 1023 K for 2 h, as the sample did not show any significant changes in the magnetic properties at lower temperatures, while annealing at temperatures above 1023 K damages the glass coating. Strong in-plane magnetocrystalline anisotropy parallel to the microwire axis was evident in the magnetic behavior at room temperature for as-prepared and annealed samples. The coercivity of the annealed sample was four times higher than that of the as-prepared sample across a wide range of measuring temperatures. Both annealed and as-prepared samples exhibit quite stable coercivity behavior with temperature, which may have interesting applications. The an nealed sample did not exhibit magnetic saturation for M-H loops measured below 50 K. Sharp irreversible magnetic behavior has been detected for annealed samples at a blocking temperature of 220 K; at the same time, the blocking temperature for the as-prepared sample was 150 K. The strong internal mechanical stress induced during the fabrication of Co2MnSi microwires in addition to the internal stress relaxation caused by the annealing induced the onset of magnetic phases resulting in unusual and irreversible magnetic behavior.

Tuning the interplay of spin-orbit coupling and trigonal crystal-field effect in the Ising-like spin system Ca3Co2O6

In the ${\mathrm{Ca}}_{3}{\mathrm{Co}}_{2}{\mathrm{O}}_{6}$ (CCO) system, the large contribution of the orbital moment to the magnetization and the strong magnetocrystalline anisotropy (MCA) are considered to give rise to the Ising magnetism. In this study, the dominant role of both spin-orbit-coupling (SOC) and crystal-field (CF) effects behind this Ising character of magnetism is qualitatively elucidated from the temperature and field dependence of magnetization in the presence of hydrostatic pressures up to 1.04 GPa in a CCO single crystal (SC). The local trigonal prismatic environment is compressed with the application of high pressure, resulting in higher trigonal CF as compared to ambient conditions. It reduces the effect of SOC due to the initiation of orbital quenching that finally decreases orbital moment contributions to both the magnetization and the MCA, respectively. This interplay of triagonal CF and SOC effects is further shown from the detailed quantitative analysis of the field-dependent magnetization in different orientations of CCO and ${\mathrm{Ca}}_{3}{\mathrm{Co}}_{1.8}{\mathrm{Fe}}_{0.2}{\mathrm{O}}_{6}$ (CCFO) SCs at ambient pressure by employing a simple classical model and second-order perturbative analysis of SOC. The complete quenching of the orbital moment of ${\mathrm{Fe}}^{3+}$ ($S=5/2$) in CCFO weakens the MCA and also helps in deducing the SOC effect. Furthermore, the estimated anisotropic constants using density functional theory very well capture the Ising magnetism in CCO and deviation from it in CCFO compared to that of classical results.

Structural, morphological, and magnetic properties of CoFe2O4 nano-ferrites synthesized via Co-precipitation route

Cobalt ferrites (CFO) NPs with strong magneto-crystalline anisotropy, high coercivity, and remarkable chemical stability have attracted much attention in the past few decades. In this research, the co-precipitation approach was used to synthesize CFO NPs (i.e. as-prepared and calcined at 400 °C). Through the use of X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), the structural, morphological, chemical, and magnetic properties of these CFO NPs were examined. Rietveld's refined XRD pattern confirms that both the samples crystallized into a cubic structure with space group Fd-3 m. The average crystallite size was found using Williamson-plots Hall's to be 37.27 nm and 21.10 nm, respectively. To verify the stoichiometry of CoFe2O4, the FE-SEM was used to confirm the equiaxial shape of the particles, and the EDS was used to identify their composition. The saturation magnetization (MS) for as-prepared and calcined CFO NPs at room temperature was determined to be 51.80, 56.303 emug−1 using the magnetic hysteresis loop. The coercive field (HC) was calculated to be 0.593, 0.421 kOe, and the remanent magnetization (Mr) to be 15.28, 14.405 emug−1.

First-principles calculations to investigate magnetic, electronic, mechanical and dynamical properties of the bimetallic M-Pt (M: Mn Co and Ni) alloys

This work reports on the magnetic, electronic, mechanical and dynamical characteristics of the bulk L10 ordered M-Pt (M = Mn, Co and Ni) bimetallic alloys. All calculations were carried out using the first-principles approach within the Density Functional Theory (DFT) method and the Generalized Gradient Approximation (GGA) functional. The CASTEP simulation code as embedded in the Materials Studio software was employed to perform all the calculations. The calculated equilibrium cell volumes are more than 95 % in agreement with the experimental data. Moreover, MnPt and NiPt alloys were confirmed to be stable at 0 K, while CoPt is metastable which is in good accordance with the experimental phase stability diagrams. The magnetic spins and electronic density of states showed that the MnPt alloy is highly magnetic over the CoPt and NiPt. The magnetic spin values for MnPt, CoPt and NiPt are 4.04 μB, 2.52 μB and 0.98 μB, respectively. MnPt and NiPt alloys were predicted to be mechanically and dynamically stable at ambient conditions since the elastic constants satisfied the Born stability conditions and there were no negative vibrations along high symmetry lines of the Brillouin zone in the phonon dispersion spectra. The CoPt alloy was found to be mechanically and dynamically stable from 13 GPa. More importantly, all M-Pt systems were predicted to be highly anisotropic, suggesting strong uniaxial magneto-crystalline anisotropy, making them very desirable in spintronic devices and magnetic recording devices.

On the electronic and magnetic properties of RVO3 (R = Er, Ho, Y, Lu) vanadates: first principles study

In this paper, we investigate the influence of the rare earth element (R) on the physical properties of RVO3 (R = Er, Ho, Y, Lu). For this purpose, a theoretical work is reported in this study using ab initio method with the intent of enhancing our knowledge of the electronic, and magnetic properties of RVO3 (R = Er, Ho, Y, Lu) compounds. The electronic properties of these materials show the presence of Jahn-Teller effect, with a band gap of approximately 0.58eV, 1.57eV, 1.12eV, 1.28eV, for ErVO3, HoVO3, YVO3, LuVO3, respectively. The magnetic contribution of Ho, Er, and V atoms in HoVO3, and ErVO3 compounds was disentangled using X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD). The magnetic anisotropies of RVO3 with (R = Er, Ho, Y, Lu) are studied and analyzed using spin orbit coupling. We noticed an easy axis of magnetization along the c-direction with strong magneto-crystalline anisotropy energies for the non-magnetic rare earth elements (R = Lu, Y)VO3. For the magnetic rare earth elements, the easy and hard magnetization direction were found to be along b-axis and c-axis, and a-axis and c-axis for HoVO3, and ErVO3, respectively. This means that instead of the standard magnetization demagnetization process, large thermal effects can be obtained by spinning their single crystals in constant magnetic fields. The exchange coupling between (Ho–V) is also found to be greater than the other exchange interactions in HoVO3. Accordingly, a large conventional magnetocaloric could be created in HoVO3, since the Ho Ising moments experience a metamagnetic transition. However, the magnetocaloric effect (MCE) is expected to be lower in ErVO3 due to the weak (Er–V) exchange coupling.

Anisotropic magnetic property, magnetostriction, and giant magnetocaloric effect with plateau behavior in TbMn2Ge2 single crystal

The ternary RMn2Ge2 (R = rare earth) intermetallic compounds have attracted great attention due to their interesting magnetic behaviors and magnetotransport responses. Here, we reported our observation of anisotropic magnetic property, magnetostriction, and magnetocaloric effect (MCE) in TbMn2Ge2 single crystal. Below the transition temperature of Tb magnetic sublattices (T_{{text{C}}}^{{{text{Tb}}}} ~ 95 K), strong Ising-like magnetocrystalline anisotropy is observed with an out-of-plane ferromagnetic moments 5.98 μB/f.u. along the easy c axis, which is two orders of magnitude larger than that of field along a axis. Above T_{{text{C}}}^{{{text{Tb}}}}, a field-induced metamagnetic transition is observed from the spin-flip of Mn sublattices. During this transition, remarkable magnetostriction effect is observed, indicating of strong spin–lattice coupling. The responses of Tb and Mn sublattices to the magnetic field generate a giant magnetic entropy change (- Delta S_{M}) and large values of relative cooling power (RCP) and temperature-averaged entropy change (TEC). The calculated maximum magnetic entropy change (- Delta S_{M}^{max }), RCP, and TEC(10) with magnetic field change of 7 T along c axis reach 24.02 J kg−1 K−1, 378.4 J kg−1, and 21.39 J kg−1 K−1 near T_{{text{C}}}^{{{text{Tb}}}}, which is the largest among RMn2Ge2 families. More importantly, this giant MCE shows plateau behavior with wide window temperatures from 93 to 108 K, making it be an attractive candidate for magnetic refrigeration applications.

Preparation and Magneto-Structural Investigation of Nanocrystalline CoMn-Based Heusler Alloy Glass-Coated Microwires

In this work, we have successfully fabricated nanocrystalline Co2MnSi Heusler alloy glass-coated microwires with a metallic nucleus diameter (dnuclei) 10.2 ± 0.1 μm and total diameter 22.2 ± 0.1 μm by the Taylor–Ulitovsky technique for the first time. Magnetic and structural investigations have been performed to clarify the basic magneto-structural properties of the Co2MnSi glass-coated microwires. XRD showed a well-defined crystalline structure with a lattice parameter a = 5.62 Å. The room temperature magnetic behavior showed a strong in-plane magnetocrystalline anisotropy parallel to the microwire axis. The M-H loops showed unique thermal stability with temperature where the coercivity (Hc) and normalized magnetic remanence exhibited roughly stable tendency with temperature. Moreover, quite soft magnetic behavior has been observed with values of coercivity of the order of Hc = 7 ± 2 Oe. Zero field cooling and field cooling (ZFC-FC) magnetization curves displayed notable irreversible magnetic dependence, where a blocking temperature (TB = 150 K) has been observed. The internal stresses generated during the fabrication process induced a different magnetic phase and is responsible for the irreversibility behavior. Moreover, high Curie temperature has been reported (Tc ≈ 985 K) with unique magnetic behavior at a wide range of temperature and magnetic fields, making it a promising candidate in magnetic sensing and spintronic applications.

DFT calculation of intrinsic properties of magnetically hard phase L10 FePt

Due to its strong magnetocrystalline anisotropy, FePt L1$\mathrm{_0}$ phase is considered as a promising magnetic recording media material. Although the magnetic properties of this phase have already been analyzed many times using density functional theory (DFT), we decided to study it again, emphasizing on full potential methods, including spin-polarized relativistic Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker (SPR-KKR) and full-potential local-orbital (FPLO) scheme. In addition to the determination of exact values of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy constants K$\mathrm{_1}$ and K$\mathrm{_2}$, the magnetic moments (m), the Curie temperature, and the magnetostriction coefficient, we focused on the investigation of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy energy (MAE) dependence on the magnetic moment values using the fully relativistic fixed spin moment (FSM) method with various exchange-correlation potentials. We present nearly identical MAE(m) curves near the equilibrium point, along with different equilibrium values of MAE and magnetic moments. For a magnetic moment reduced by about 10%, we determined a theoretical MAE maximum in the ground state (0 K) equal to about 20.3 MJ m$\mathrm{^{-3}}$ and independent of the choice of the exchange-correlation potential form. These calculations allow us to understand the discrepancies between the previous MAE results for different exchange-correlation potentials.

Spin-flip-driven reversal of the angle-dependent magnetic torque in layered antiferromagnetic Ca0.9Sr0.1Co2As2

Spin-flip transition can occur in antiferromagnets with strong magnetocrystalline anisotropy, inducing a significant modification of the anisotropic magnetic properties through phase conversion. In contrast to ferromagnets, antiferromagnets have not been thoroughly examined in terms of their anisotropic characteristics. We investigated the magnetic-field and angle-dependent magnetic properties of Ising-type antiferromagnetic Ca0.9Sr0.1Co2As2 using magnetic torque measurements. An A-type antiferromagnetic order emerges below TN = 97 K aligned along the magnetically easy c-axis. The reversal of the angle-dependent torque across the spin-flip transition was observed, revealing the strong influence of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy on the magnetic properties. Based on the easy-axis anisotropic spin model, we theoretically generated torque data and identified specific spin configurations associated with the magnetic torque variation in the presence of a rotating magnetic field. Our results enrich fundamental and applied research on diverse antiferromagnetic compounds by shedding new light on the distinct magnetic features of the Ising-type antiferromagnet.

Rhombic Fermi surfaces in a ferromagnetic MnGa thin film with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy

Mn$_{1-x}$Ga$_x$ (MnGa) with the $L1_0$ structure is a ferromagnetic material with strong perpendicular magneto-crystalline anisotropy. Although MnGa thin films have been successfully grown epitaxially and studied for various spintronics devices, fundamental understandings of its electronic structure are still lacking. To address this issue, we have investigated $L1_0$-MnGa thin films using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). We have observed a large Fermi surface with a rhombic shape in the $k_x$-$k_y$ plane overlapping neighboring Fermi surfaces. The $k_z$ dependence of the band structure suggests that the band dispersion observed by ARPES comes from the three-dimensional band structure of MnGa folded by a $\sqrt{2} \times \sqrt{2}$ reconstruction. The band dispersion across the corner of the rhombic Fermi surface forms an electron pocket with a weak $k_z$ dependence. The effective mass and the mobility of the bands crossing the Fermi level near the corner are estimated from the ARPES images. Based on the experimental findings, the relationship between the observed band structure and the spin-dependent properties in MnGa-based heterostructures is discussed.

Spin wave stiffness and damping in a frustrated chiral helimagnet Co8Zn8Mn4 as measured by small-angle neutron scattering

Multiple intriguing low-temperature phenomena have recently been discovered in the family of chiral cubic Co-Zn-Mn compounds with a $\ensuremath{\beta}$-Mn-type structure. In particular, ${\mathrm{Co}}_{8}{\mathrm{Zn}}_{8}{\mathrm{Mn}}_{4}$ displays a reduction of the helical spiral pitch on cooling along with lattice shape transformations of metastable skyrmions and the manifestation of peculiar magnetic textures due to strong magnetocrystalline anisotropy. Here we report on temperature-dependent measurements of helimagnon excitations in the field polarized regime ${\mathrm{Co}}_{8}{\mathrm{Zn}}_{8}{\mathrm{Mn}}_{4}$ using the spin-wave (SW) small-angle neutron-scattering technique. By applying a new analytical expression to interpret the data, quantitative estimates for both SW stiffness and damping are extracted across a wide temperature range between 70 and 250 K. We speculate that their nontrivial temperature dependencies arise due to the effects of magnetic frustration arising from Mn magnetic moments, which is further reflected in continuous variations of both exchange and Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions.

Direct Observation of Strong Anomalous Hall Effect and Proximity-Induced Ferromagnetic State in SrIrO3.

The 5d iridium-based transition metal oxides have gained broad interest because of their strong spin-orbit coupling, which favors new or exotic quantum electronic states. On the other hand, they rarely exhibit more mainstream orders like ferromagnetism due to generally weak electron-electron correlation strength. Here, a proximity-induced ferromagnetic (FM) state with TC ≈ 100 K and strong magnetocrystalline anisotropy is shown in a SrIrO3 (SIO) heterostructure via interfacial charge transfer by using a ferromagnetic insulator in contact with SIO. Electrical transport allows to selectively probe the FM state of the SIO layer and the direct observation of a strong, intrinsic, and positive anomalous Hall effect (AHE). For T≤ 20 K, the AHE displays unusually large coercive and saturation field, a fingerprint of a strong pseudospin-lattice coupling. A Hall angle, σxy AHE /σxx , larger by an order of magnitude than in typical 3d metals and an FM net moment of about 0.1 μB /Ir, is reported. This emphasizes how efficiently the nontrivial topological band properties of SIO can be manipulated by structural modifications and the exchange interaction with 3d TMOs.
