Factors influencing and controlling vandalism by tourists and local indigenous communities at the Fandoghlou forest natural site

The presence of tourists may lead to environmental damage and vandalism, which can affect local community and tourist relationships, leading to dissatisfaction. The persistence of vandalism in natural environments can lead to detrimental effects; hence, identifying its triggering and inhibitory factors is crucial. The Fandoqhlou Forest region, as a tourist destination in Ardabil Province, has been subjected to various types of damage. The aim of this study is to assess the factors influencing and controlling damage resulting from tourism activities in the Fandoqhlou region. The study population included tourists and the local community who visited the forest area during the spring and summer months of 2023. Additionally, qualitative data analysis was conducted via Atlas Ti software. On the basis of the interview results, 479 initial codes were identified, from which 62 basic themes, 15 organizing themes, and 2 global themes were derived. The research findings identified the factors influencing the occurrence and control of vandalism in the study area. According to the results, environmental disregard, alongside tourists’ low cultural and educational awareness, was identified as a significant factor influencing vandalism. To mitigate this behavioral disorder, the important role of social media in disseminating relevant information and creating a platform for nature conservation in tourism activities and visits to natural sites can be emphasized. Management implications-Management programs should focus on enhancing environmental education and cultural awareness among both tourists and local communities need to mitigate vandalism and destructive behaviors at the natural forests and leverages social media to promote nature conservation.-Strengthening collaboration and foster between local communities, government agencies, and private sectors, need to be established to increase surveillance, enforce penalties and supporting environmental guardians are essential for effective monitoring and deterrence of destructive behaviors.-Implementing stricter law enforcement, along with establishing facilities and community empowerment programs, can strengthen forest protection, reduce vandalism, and promote a sustainable relationship between tourism and local communities.

Descriptive analysis of road traffic accidents in children aged 0-2 years

Aims: This study aims to investigate road traffic accidents (RTAs) involving infants and toddlers, defined as children from birth to 2 years old, focusing specifically on their epidemiology and outcomes. Methods: A retrospective, single-center, observational, and cross-sectional study was conducted in the Emergency Department of a university-affiliated training and research hospital. Data were collected from July 1, 2019, to January 1, 2024. Results: During the study period, 659 cases involved pediatric RTAs patients (individuals under 17 years old), with 41 cases specifically concerning infants and toddlers. These patients had a mean age of 12.98 ± 5.64 months, and 27 (65.9%) were boys. The median Pediatric Trauma Score for was 9 (range: 5-12) while the median pGCS score was 15 (range: 14-15). Motor vehicle accidents were the leading cause of injuries, accounting for 92.6% of cases, followed by motorcycle accidents (4.8%) and pedestrian-vehicle collisions (2.6%). Hospitalized patients exhibited various injuries, including femur fractures, subdural hematoma, orbital roof fracture, scalp hematomas, and lung contusion. Surgical intervention was required in only one case for a femur shaft fracture. Fortunately, no in-hospital deaths occurred among the study participants. Conclusion: This study underscores the importance of adult supervision to prevent RTAs and emphasizes the critical need for strict enforcement of child passenger safety laws to reduce the incidence of motor vehicle accidents involving infants and toddlers.

Investigation of microplastics and potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in sediments of two rivers in Southwestern Nigeria.

Microplastics (MPs) are emerging and ubiquitous contaminants, known to accumulate in river sediments. In many developing nations, the absence of policies for managing plastic waste puts the inland river ecosystems at risk of excessive abundance of plastics and MPs. However, only limited studies have reported MPs in river environments in these countries. The current study therefore examined the abundance and nature of MPs and potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in the sediments of the Odo-Ona and Ogun Rivers in Southwest Nigeria. MPs were extracted from the sediments using the density separation method and categorized according to their size, colour and shapes. The range of MP abundances found in the Ogun River sediments was 66.6 ± 12.2 to 311 ± 20.8 particles/kg, while that of the Odo-Ona River ranged from 133 ± 50 to 433 ± 100 particles/kg. The MPs polymer analyses revealed the presence of polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and polyamide (PA) particles in the sediments. PE was most abundant in the two rivers, constituting 72.8% and 59.7% of MPs (with 0.5 - 5mm size), recovered from the Odo-Ona and Ogun Rivers, respectively. High concentrations of Cr and Pb with ranges of 10.3 - 48.3 and 10.1 - 211mg/kg, respectively, were detected in the sediments and were associated with anthropogenic effects. This study reveals the impact of indiscriminate waste dumping on the water bodies, and calls for strict enforcement of environmental laws in the country.

Determinants of Tax Arrears Revenue at the Surabaya Mulyorejo Primary Tax Service Office: Deterrent Effect of Taxpayers on Auction Announcement

This study aims to analyze the determinants of tax arrears revenue at the Surabaya Mulyorejo Primary Tax Service Office, with a focus on the deterrent effect of taxpayers on auction announcements. This study uses a quantitative approach by examining variables such as warning letters, forced letters, and confiscation warrants. Data were obtained from the annual report of KPP Pratama Surabaya Mulyorejo, with the observation period from 2019 to 2023. The results showed that warning letters, Billing with Forced Letters, warrant to carry out confiscation and auction announcements have a significant effect on the receipt of tax arrears. The implication of this study shows that stricter law enforcement can increase taxpayer compliance and reduce tax arrears. Penegakan Hukum terhadap Pelaku Pembukaan Lahan yang Menyebabkan Kebakaran Hutan

Abstract Forest fires caused by land clearing activities are a serious problem that threatens the ecosystem, public health, and the economy. Pollution and environmental damage in forest fire cases in Indonesia are serious problems. The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the regulation and implementation of law enforcement against perpetrators of land clearing that cause forest fires. The research method used is normative juridical. The legal materials used are laws and regulations related to the environment and court decisions 205 / Pid.B / LH / 2023 / PN Kgn. The results of the study are that law enforcement can be used as a rule to overcome environmental problems by referring to the Law on Environmental Management and Protection, the Law on Plantations, the Law on Prevention and Eradication of Forest Destruction. The law enforcement carried out is to impose a criminal sentence on the perpetrators to imprisonment for 10 (ten) months and a fine of IDR 30,000,000.00 (thirty million rupiah). Conclusion: The Indonesian Government continues to strengthen regulations and law enforcement to address this issue, although major challenges remain regarding law enforcement in the field and compliance of perpetrators with existing regulations. Suggestions include strengthening regulations and strict law enforcement, educating the public about the dangers of forest fires, and developing firefighting infrastructure. Collaboration between stakeholders is also important in this effort. It requires commitment to handling and preventing forest fires and also requires participation from all parties to continue to protect and preserve Indonesia's forests, in order to become useful provisions for future generations

Regulasi Penegakan Hukum terhadap Pencemaran Air di Sungai Citarum, Jawa Barat

The principle of environmental insight is the principle of capital investment carried out while still paying attention to and prioritizing environmental protection and maintenance. The government in carrying out development must also pay attention to the ecosystem and the surrounding environment. The purpose of this study is to analyze and enforce the law on Citarum River pollution based on the Principle of Environmental Insight, which includes the principles of sustainability, community participation, and environmental responsibility. The method used in this study is normative juridical with qualitative analysis with the data produced in the form of secondary data obtained from previous studies, laws and regulations, and other sources. The results of the study are the Regulation on water pollution in Article 60 of the PPLH Law: "Everyone is prohibited from dumping waste and/or materials into environmental media without permission". Article 104 of the PPLH Law: "Anyone who dumps waste and/or materials into environmental media without permission as referred to in Article 60, shall be punished with imprisonment of a maximum of 3 (three) years and a maximum fine of Rp3,000,000,000.00 (three billion rupiah). Conclusion Law enforcement in environmental issues has been regulated in environmental laws and regulations. Environmental law is a legal rule for every management and protection of the environment. Suggestion The government needs to strengthen regulations related to the disposal of industrial and domestic waste into rivers. Strict and consistent law enforcement must be implemented to ensure that polluters receive appropriate sanctions. Routine inspections and firm action against violators will be important steps

Caught in the net: Unravelling policy challenges and smuggling dynamics in Indonesia’s puerulus exploitation

Indonesia’s natural puerulus resources position the country as a potential leader in lobster aquaculture. Over the last decade, frequent policy changes aimed at restricting exports have been enacted to encourage domestic aquaculture production; however, illegal trade has increased. This study explores Indonesia’s puerulus governance, analysing the impact of export bans on illegal trade and resources management from 2015 to 2022. We examined the strategies employed by fishermen and other business groups in puerulus trading and smuggling, and their implications on the state revenue by combining court rulings and semi-structured interviews with fishermen and puerulus dealers. We found that the export ban policy has spurred (1) illegal trade, further straining the struggling fishers, (2) potential loss of government revenue from puerulus export, and (3) the stalled domestic aquaculture industry due to the absence of capacity building and enabling environments for domestic production to complement the export ban. Our results indicate that the weak legal enforcement may be the reason the export ban did not work and local aquaculture development has not progressed as expected. Future puerulus management policy underscores the needs for a balanced approach that combines liberal trade policies with strict law enforcement and monitoring, along with capacity building and institutional support for fishermen and the private sectors to develop local aquaculture and curb illegal trading.

Shielding Public Health: Indonesian National Police (INP)’s Measure Against COVID-19 Vaccine Certificate Forgery

The purpose of this study is to discuss the benefits of implementing several strategies carried out during the COVID-19 period. COVID-19 vaccine certificate forgery has posed a threat to public health. The Indonesian National Police (INP) has implemented various strategies to overcome this crime. The intervention strategies involve early detection and prevention, such as cyber patrol, border control, public involvement, and strict law enforcement. Other countries have also carried out similar measures; however, there are several additional strategies, such as the formation of a special force as well as utilizing blockchain technology for a more secure digital vaccine certificate system. These strategies could be a benchmark for the INP in handling cases of letter forgery.

Pertanggungjawaban Pidana Korporasi yang Melakukan Praktik Perbudakan Terhadap Buruh

The case of slavery practices involving workers at the oil palm plantation company, raises questions about corporate criminal responsibility. The case was revealed after the police received information about workers being held captive and abused at the company. The results of the investigation showed that five casual daily workers were victims of abuse by unscrupulous employees, who also threatened and fired air soft guns. The five victims were then taken to the company hall to be further abused by the suspects. The police named six suspects, including a legislative candidate, who were involved in this case. The investigation also revealed that dozens of workers had experienced inhumane treatment, which resulted in them asking the police for help. This practice of violence has fulfilled criminal elements, so that the perpetrators were charged with various criminal articles, including Article 170, Article 333, Article 335, and Article 351 of the Criminal Code, as well as Article 2 of the Law on the Eradication of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons. Acts of abuse committed by companies and employees against workers show the need for corporate criminal accountability in cases of human rights violations and violence against workers. Strict prevention and law enforcement efforts are needed to protect workers' rights and prevent the recurrence of these harmful practices in the future.

Legal Analysis Of Marine Inspector's Duties and Responsibilities in Conducting Ship's Seaworthiness Tests

The importance of the role of Marine Inspectors in ensuring the safety and security of shipping through ship seaworthiness tests, which are regulated in various laws and regulations. However, the implementation of the duties and responsibilities of the Marine Inspector at the Batam Special KSOP still faces various obstacles that affect the effectiveness and efficiency of ship inspections. The purpose of this study is to analyze juridically the duties and responsibilities of the Marine Inspector in conducting a shipworthiness test at the Batam Special KSOP, identify the obstacles faced, and provide suggestions to overcome these obstacles. The research method used is a normative juridical method with an analytical descriptive approach, which involves the study of legal documents, as well as empirical juridical with case analysis, and interviews with related parties at the Batam Special KSOP. The results of the study show that Marine Inspectors at the Batam Special KSOP have a very crucial role in maintaining shipping safety, but they face significant obstacles such as limited human resources and equipment, lack of continuous training, and suboptimal coordination between agencies. Low compliance from ship owners and operators is also a major challenge in carrying out their dutie. Suggestions for addressing these obstacles include increasing the number and competence of Marine Inspectors through ongoing recruitment and training, investing in modern equipment and digital technology, and improving inter-agency coordination through the establishment of regular coordination forums. In addition, strict law enforcement against violations of safety standards and increased education and socialization to ship owners and operators are expected to increase compliance and awareness of the importance of shipping safety. With the implementation of these measures, it is hoped that Marine Inspectors can carry out their duties more effectively, so that the safety and security of shipping in Batam City can be guaranteed and improved.

Legal Protection for Suspects in the Investigation Process of Terrorism Criminal Acts in Order to Fulfill Human Rights n the Region of the Riau Islands Police

The background of this study is the high number of terrorism cases in Indonesia that require strict law enforcement measures but must still respect human rights. Legal protection for suspects in the investigation process is crucial to ensure a fair legal process and in accordance with human rights standards regulated in various laws and regulations, including the Criminal Procedure Code, Law No. 5 of 2018, the 1945 Constitution, and Law No. 39 of 1999.The purpose of this study is to analyze the implementation of legal protection for suspects of terrorism crimes in the Riau Islands Police area, identify obstacles faced in implementing this protection, and formulate solutions to overcome these obstacles. The research method used is the empirical legal method, with a qualitative approach involving data collection through interviews, observations, and document studies.The results of the study indicate that the implementation of legal protection for suspects in the Riau Islands Police area is still less than optimal. The main obstacles identified include abuse of authority by law enforcement officers, lack of resources and capacity, and social stigma and discrimination against suspects. Abuse of authority often occurs in the form of unprocedural arrests and detentions, while limited resources result in a lack of adequate equipment and training for officers. Social stigma worsens the situation by hindering fair and humane legal protection. Based on the results of the study, it is recommended that supervision and accountability for the actions of law enforcement officers be strengthened, training and capacity building for officers be carried out continuously, and anti-stigma education and campaigns be carried out for the community. These steps are expected to increase the effectiveness of human rights protection for suspects, so that the process of investigating terrorism crimes can be carried out more fairly and in accordance with the principles of law and justice.

The Importance of Law Enforcement and Spatial Planning Regulations Regarding Flood Management

Spatial planning in Indonesia, both national and regional spatial planning, has become a crucial problem that has developed dynamically in recent years. The urgency of spatial management in human life encourages the existence of statutory regulations to address spatial planning. Spatial planning is an important component in determining the success of a region's development, especially in the context of sustainable development. Rapid regional growth, both in urban and rural areas, has had a positive economic impact, but has also given rise to environmental problems, manifested in increasingly critical environmental conditions and the increasing intensity of natural disasters, partly caused by spatial planning violations. One of the significant impacts of spatial planning violations is flooding in Indonesia, which is often caused by land misuse. Therefore, enforcement of spatial planning laws and regulations closely related to flood management is critical. This study uses a qualitative research approach focusing on literature analysis, government policies, and empirical data related to flood management in Indonesia. Empirical data was obtained through interviews with legal experts, spatial planning experts, and related stakeholders. Deductive methods are used in data analysis to identify patterns and relationships between law enforcement, spatial planning regulations, and flood management. The results of this study show that strict law enforcement, clear spatial regulations, and increasing institutional capacity are the keys to reducing flood risk. With synergy between law enforcement and capacity building, potential flood risks can be minimized while building better community involvement and awareness.

The Efforts to Improve the Seaworthiness at the Port Authority and Harbourmaster Office (KSOP) of Bima Class IV

Seaworthiness is essential because it impacts maritime operations' safety, efficiency, and sustainability. Therefore, the Harbormaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP) ensures ship seaworthiness to maintain naval safety, protect the environment, and ensure smooth port operations. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method to investigate and describe a phenomenon. The data was obtained by observation and a deep literature review of the problems discussed. The research found that: 1) several problems that often arise regarding ship seaworthiness are the ship's technical condition, management and operations, environmental factors, compliance with regulations, market conditions, and competition. 2) efforts to improve seaworthiness carried out by KSOP Bima are routine inspections and certification, increasing human resources, operational supervision, developing port infrastructure, applying advanced technology, collaborating and coordinating with related agencies, strict law enforcement, education, and outreach, and developing emergency procedures. 3) The security and safety conditions of ships entering and leaving the Bima Port KSOP require continued attention and effort. From this study, they implement strict regulations, use advanced technology, improve infrastructure, conduct continuous training, and collaborate strongly with related agencies. KSOP Bima can ensure that ships operating in its area meet seaworthiness standards, supporting safe and efficient port operations.

Identifying the Determinants of Hookah Smoking Among the Youth; A Mixed-Methods Study.

Hookahs have been rising in popularity in the United States (U.S.) especially among the youth yet not much research has been carried out to understand the various predictors of hookah use among youth. We have thus conducted a cross-sectional study with a mixed-methods triangulation design to identify the hookah use determinants at different levels of the Social Ecological Model among youth. Participants between the ages of 18-24 years were sampled purposively, between April to November 2023, following a snowballing technique from various communities in Virginia and California, United States. Data were collected via a survey, one-on-one interviews, and focus groups. The study had a total sample size of 20. We found that participants smoked for a median of 5 times in the past 30 days. The main determinants of hookah smoking included the limited knowledge of health effects and addiction, positive attitude, family and peer influence, use as a means to socially connect with others, culture, social acceptability, lack of education at school and work place, access to hookah bars and smoke shops, and lack of strict enforcement of laws to ban smoking of youth. Educational interventions should be implemented by public health authorities to target the youth, their social and communities to provide education on hookah harm and addictiveness and to restrict access to- and the production, distribution, marketing and sales of hookahs.

Juridical Review of The Impact of Unlicensed Mining (PETI) on Environmental Damage in South Kalimantan Province

Environmental law regulates the protection and management of the natural environment. Its goal is to preserve the environment and prevent pollution and damage through management, utilization, development, maintenance, restoration, supervision, and control. These regulations govern the relationship between humans and their living environment. The ineffectiveness of environmental law is due to a lack of strict law enforcement. Therefore, strong law enforcement is needed to deter environmental pollution and damage, to achieve sustainable development and societal well-being. This research aims to analyze environmental law, forms of law enforcement against environmental issues such as unlicensed mining, and the importance of law enforcement in achieving sustainable development. The method used in this research is a normative juridical approach. The study found that Indonesia has regulations that impose sanctions on unlicensed mining activities, with penalties proportional to the severity of the violations. Cases include the excavation of natural gravel by Muhammad Sauqi and large-scale land clearing by Saipul Rahman, which have caused significant environmental damage in South Kalimantan. The impacts include water and air pollution and risks of landslides, mine collapses, and earthquakes, which harm the surrounding environment.

Pelaksanaan Pemilu Sebagai Wujud Demokrasi Pancasila Di Indonesia

General elections (elections) in Indonesia are an important mechanism in the democratic process which aims to elect people's representatives and government leaders directly by the people. This research aims to examine the principles, objectives of the election administration system, and the election system implemented in Indonesia. Using a descriptive and analytical approach, this study explores various aspects related to elections in Indonesia, including the basic principles underlying their implementation, the objectives to be achieved, and the electoral system used. This research concludes that although the electoral system in Indonesia has run with strong democratic principles, there is still room for improvement in its implementation and supervision. Recommendations include increasing political education for the community, strengthening election management institutions, and stricter law enforcement against election violations. With these steps, it is hoped that elections in Indonesia can be more effective, fair and democratic, so that they are able to fully reflect the will of the people.

Understanding Voting Behavior Models: A Critical Review

<p class="TableParagraph"><em>This research aims to explore the impact of money politics on voting behavior, compliance and voter loyalty in Indonesia using literature study and desk research methods. Money politics, which involves providing material incentives to voters, has become a widespread and influential phenomenon in the electoral system in Indonesia. This study analyzes various literature and secondary data to understand how money politics influences voters' preferences, their level of compliance with candidates who provide incentives, and their loyalty to political parties or candidates.</em></p><p class="TableParagraph"><em>The research results show that money politics has a significant influence on voting behavior, where voters who receive incentives tend to choose candidates or parties that provide these incentives. However, this influence is often temporary and does not guarantee long-term loyalty. Voter loyalty to candidates who provide incentives is also influenced by economic motivations, and voter loyalty tends to weaken due to the practice of money politics, causing them to more easily change their support in the next election if there is a more profitable offer.</em></p><p class="TableParagraph"><em>To reduce the negative impact of money politics, this research recommends increasing political education, stricter law enforcement, and strengthening electoral institutions. A holistic approach involving the government, electoral institutions, civil society organizations and the wider community is needed to overcome this problem and strengthen democracy in Indonesia. Analisis Dampak Judi Online di Indonesia

Online gambling has become an increasingly worrying issue in Indonesia because of its very dangerous influence on society. This research aims to analyze the social, economic and psychological impacts of online gambling in Indonesia through qualitative methods with a case study approach. Data was obtained from various sources, including previous research, reports from related institutions, as well as information found online. The research results show that online gambling addiction has a very significant negative impact and various factors that cause the increase in online gambling addiction include easy access, aggressive promotion of various types of online gambling on the market. Articles related to online gambling are regulated in Law article ITE 27 section 2, but law enforcement still faces many obstacles. Handling by the police and government needs to be improved through collaboration with related institutions and strict law enforcement. The implications of these findings indicate the need for stricter policy interventions as well as education and rehabilitation programs to reduce the negative impact of online gambling on Indonesian society. Effective methods to help individuals quit online gambling addiction include psychological counseling, social support, and developing stress and emotion management skills.

Excessive Self-Medication with Prescription NSAIDs: A Cross-Sectional Study in Kosovo.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly used to manage pain, fever, and inflammation. Although most are usually classified as prescription-only medicines, in many countries they are frequently purchased for self-medication purposes. This study explores NSAID-usage patterns in Kosovo, aiming for a safer and more effective medicinal use. The study employed a dual approach to collect data. First, NSAID sales were analyzed in a convenience sample of ten community pharmacies across diverse regions in Kosovo in 2023. Second, data on NSAID-usage patterns and patient awareness were systematically gathered from 410 patients during routine pharmacist-patient interactions. The four most commonly purchased NSAIDs according to sales analysis were diclofenac (33.1%), ketoprofen (27.6%), ibuprofen (17.0%) and nimesulide (12.7%). A significant 74.8% of NSAIDs were bought without prescriptions, particularly among younger adults (20-39 years), who accounted for 82.8% of such purchases. The predominant reason for NSAID use was headache (43.8%). Although many of the patients suffered from occasional (33.7%) or frequent (12.6%) stomachaches and took acid-lowering medicines, the majority (85.9%) could not recall any NSAID adverse reactions. This study exposes widespread self-medication and a significant lack of awareness regarding potential risks of NSAIDs, particularly among young adults. To address these issues, it is critical to improve dispensing practices through increased pharmacist awareness and stricter law enforcement.

Sustainability strategy for turtle conservation in Kelapa Dua Island, Kepulauan Seribu District, Jakarta, Indonesia

The background of this research stems from the excessive exploitation and shift from subsistence to commercial use that has caused a decline in turtle populations. Therefore, it is necessary to safeguard turtle populations within Indonesia's distinct marine habitats, particularly at SPTN (National Park Management) I, Kelapa Dua Island, Kepulauan Seribu, Jakarta, Indonesia. Addressing the challenges in turtle conservation, this study systematically collected data through expert interviews, providing in-depth insights into the conservation landscape. The research methodology includes data collection via expert interviews and subsequent analysis using the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) method, providing a strategic framework to enhance conservation outcomes. The results highlight the critical need for habitat protection, stakeholder involvement, and rigorous law enforcement. Based on the four alternative strategies that have been prepared, the S-T strategy approach has the highest score, namely 4, making it a priority strategy for sustainable turtle conservation on Kelapa Dua Island. The following strategic priorities are W-O strategy, S-O strategy and W-T strategy. This study's conclusion shows suitable strategies for research problems, such as advocation for habitat protection, active stakeholder involvement, and strict law enforcement to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of conservation initiatives.
