A comprehensive study on the intermolecular interactions and energy frameworks exist in crystal structures of Form-I, Form-II and Form-III polymorphs of Ethyl maltol

The present study serves as a comprehensive investigation into the molecular crystal structures of three polymorphic forms of ethyl maltol. Crystal structures of the polymorphs grown via slow evaporation and quench cooling crystallization processes were determined through single crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD) analysis. Through the utilization of SCXRD data CIF file as an input, we explored the nature and strength of intermolecular interactions, atom pair close contacts, interaction types, 2D fingerprint plots, surface characteristics and percentage of voids present within each polymorph of ethyl maltol. The comparative analysis involves the application of advanced methods, such as Hirshfeld surface analysis and 3D-energy frameworks using Crystal Explorer 17.5. In a supramolecular organization, intermolecular interaction between the carbonyl and hydroxyl groups is a collective structural motif employed among the three polymorphs. However the three polymorphs share common structural features, but the conformations within the crystal packing of each form are different from each other. Shape Index and Curvedness surfaces reveal π stacking interactions with varying properties on differing sides of the molecular moieties between the polymorph. Fingerprint analysis emphasizes that (H…H) is the predominant interaction whereas (O…H) and (H…O) interactions contribute more towards the generation of H-bond interactions in the structure of ethyl maltol polymorphs. The crystal structures of all the three ethyl maltol polymorphs stabilized by various intermolecular contacts within the Hirshfeld surface area was comparable. The interaction energy and the 3D-energy frameworks offer a visualization of the crystal packing topology, enhancing our understanding of the three-dimensional arrangement of molecules and their structural stability. The resulting overall average total energy values for Form-I, Form-II and Form-III polymorphs of ethyl maltol are -56.3 kJ /mol, -74 kJ /mol and -80.45 kJ /mol respectively which reveals that all the three polymorphs show a significant difference in their total energies and reveals further that Form-III polymorph of ethyl maltol is the most stable one while Form-I is the least stable and Form-II is metastable relatively. Moreover, the dispersion energy framework is predominant over the electrostatic energy framework. The void analysis reveals the percentage of volume occupied by the voids present in the unit cell of Form-I, Form-II, and Form-III polymorphs of ethyl maltol are found to be 7.20%, 6.55 %, and 9.43% respectively.

Two halogenated coplanar Schiff base complexes: Insights into the impact of halogen substitution on intermolecular interactions via theoretical calculations

The manipulation of intermolecular interaction intensities significantly influences a wide range of domains in material science, attracting widespread attention from researchers. In this study, we used a strategy distinct from the adjustment of molecular skeletons, through the introduction of different halogenated ligands, two new coplanar halogenated Schiff base complexes with large conjugate structure [CuII(3,5-Cl-Salphmen)]·DMF(CuL3,5-Cl) and [CuII(3Br-5Cl-Salphmen)]·DMF(CuL3Br5Cl), where 3,5-Cl-Salphmen(H2L3,5-Cl) = N,N′-bis(3,5-dichlorosalicylidene)- diamine, 3Br-5Cl-Salphmen(H2L3,5-Br) = N,N′-bis(3‑bromo-5-chlorosalicylidene)- diamine were obtained. The effects of different substituted atoms on molecular orbitals, energy levels, intermolecular interstrength are analyzed in detail by DFT theory calculations, and compared with CuII-3,5-Br-Salphmen(CuL3,5-Br) and non-halogenated analogues CuII-Salphmen(CuLH). Analysis results show that the strategy of increasing molecular conjugation by the substitution of different halogen atoms can not only effectively modulate the charge distribution on the benzene ring but also can precisely control the binding energy as well as strength of intermolecular interactions.

Rationally Designing the Supramolecular Interfaces of Nanoparticle Superlattices with Multivalent Polymers.

In supramolecular materials, multiple weak binding groups can act as a single collective unit when confined to a localized volume, thereby producing strong but dynamic bonds between material building blocks. This principle of multivalency provides a versatile means of controlling material assembly, as both the number and the type of supramolecular moieties become design handles to modulate the strength of intermolecular interactions. However, in materials with building blocks significantly larger than individual supramolecular moieties (e.g., polymer or nanoparticle scaffolds), the degree of multivalency is difficult to predict or control, as sufficiently large scaffolds inherently preclude separated supramolecular moieties from interacting. Because molecular models commonly used to examine supramolecular interactions are intrinsically unable to examine any trends or emergent behaviors that arise due to nanoscale scaffold geometry, our understanding of the thermodynamics of these massively multivalent systems remains limited. Here we address this challenge via the coassembly of polymer-grafted nanoparticles and multivalent polymers, systematically examining how multivalent scaffold size, shape, and spacing affect their collective thermodynamics. Investigating the interplay of polymer structure and supramolecular group stoichiometry reveals complicated but rationally describable trends that demonstrate how the supramolecular scaffold design can modulate the strength of multivalent interactions. This approach to self-assembled supramolecular materials thus allows for the manipulation of polymer-nanoparticle composites with controlled thermal stability, nanoparticle organization, and tailored meso- to microscopic structures. The sophisticated control of multivalent thermodynamics through precise modulation of the nanoscale scaffold geometry represents a significant advance in the ability to rationally design complex hierarchically structured materials via self-assembly.

Controlling the Crystal Growth of DNA Molecules via Strategic Chemical Modifications.

Intermolecular interactions are critical to the crystallization of biomolecules, yet the precise control of biomolecular crystal growth based on these interactions remains elusive. To understand the connections between the crystallization kinetics and the strength of intermolecular interactions, herein we have employed DNA triangular crystals and modified ones as a versatile tool to investigate how the strength of intermolecular interaction affects crystal growth. Interestingly, we have found that the 2'-O-methylation at sticky ends of the DNA triangle could strengthen its intermolecular interaction, resulting in the accelerated formation of smaller crystals. Conversely, phosphorothioate modification could weaken the sticky-end cohesion and delay the nucleation, resulting in formation of fewer but larger crystals. In addition, these modification effects were consistently observed in the crystallization of a DNA decamer. In one word, our experimental results demonstrate that the strength of intermolecular interaction directly impacts crystal growth. It suggests that 2'-O-methylation and phosphorothioate modification represents a rational strategy for controlling DNA molecules grow into desired crystals and it also facilitates structural determination.

Modeling the Interaction between the Isoniazid Anti-Tuberculosis Drug and Functionalized Carbon Nanotubes for Medical Applications: A Quantum Chemical Study

Introduction: The purpose of using nano-carriers for drugs delivery, such as nanotubes, was slow release of drug and reducing side effects of drugs. Drugs are very active due to their many functional groups. Therefore, reactivity of drug is reduced by being in nanotube field due to electronic resonance of drug with nanotube and it stays longer in body. The present study aimed to investigate the interaction of isoniazid with functionalized single-walled carbon nanotubes.
 Methods: In the present theoretical study, considering the importance of isoniazid as the first line of treatment for tuberculosis disease, the performance of carbon nanostructures for adsorption of isoniazid was evaluated using quantum computation. Using density functional theory at theoretical level of B3LYP/6-31G** structure of drug and f-SWCNT and nano-drug complexes were optimized.
 Results: Effect of adsorption on the electronic properties and stability of the nanotube was also examined. In this regard, for different configurations, the strength and nature of intermolecular interactions were evaluated by energy parameters and molecular orbitals. Based on the obtained results, a specific configuration displayed the most negative adsorption energy and enthalpy, establishing itself as the most stable structure among the various configurations.
 Conclusion: Results showed that the electron density of the HOMO (Highest Occupied Molecular Orbital) was localized on the nanotube, while the electron density of the LUMO (Lowest Unoccupied Molecular Orbital) was situated on the drug molecule. The energy gap between two molecular orbitals increased due to the adsorption process; changes lead to an increase in the electrical conductivity of the complex following adsorption. According to the natural bond orbitals, results, the isoniazid molecule and functionalized single-walled carbon nanotube act as both electron donor and acceptor in the complex. Analysis of the results obtained from quantum theory of atoms in molecules, showed the intermolecular interaction between the drug and the functional group of the nanotube has been established, the most important of which is the hydrogen bond. Finally, the findings showed that functionalized SWCNTs can be acted as a drug carrier for isoniazid anti-tuberculosis drug.

Determinants of viscoelasticity and flow activation energy in biomolecular condensates.

The form and function of biomolecular condensates are intimately linked to their material properties. Here, we integrate microrheology with molecular simulations to dissect the physical determinants of condensate fluid phase dynamics. By quantifying the timescales and energetics of network relaxation in a series of heterotypic viscoelastic condensates, we uncover distinctive roles of sticker motifs, binding energy, and chain length in dictating condensate dynamical properties. We find that the mechanical relaxation times of condensate-spanning networks are determined by both intermolecular interactions and chain length. We demonstrate, however, that the energy barrier for network reconfiguration, termed flow activation energy, is independent of chain length and only varies with the strengths of intermolecular interactions. Biomolecular diffusion in the dense phase depends on a complex interplay between viscoelasticity and flow activation energy. Our results illuminate distinctive roles of chain length and sequence-specific multivalent interactions underlying the complex material and transport properties of biomolecular condensates.

Synthesis, crystal structure, exploration of the supramolecular assembly through Hirshfeld surface analysis of new 2,4-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazole-3-selones and 3,3′-di(4H-1,2,4-triazolyl)diselenides

The reaction of aromatic ring-substituted isoselenocyanates with 2-thiopheacetic and 4-pyridinecarboxylic acid hydrazides yielded selenosemicarbazides, which were further converted into previously unknown 1,2,4-triazole-3-selones and 3,3′-di(4H-1, 2,4-triazolyl)diselenides. The structure of the obtained compounds was studied by X-ray diffraction analysis and NMR spectroscopy. Theoretically, the reactivity and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties were predicted by using the DFT-B3LYP method. Charge separation and orbital analysis were performed by using the frontier molecular orbital (FMO) and natural population analysis (NPA). 5aa, 5ca, and 5ab show significantly reduced HOMO-LUMO gaps and ionization potential (IP) among the other compounds. The density of states (DOS) spectra was plotted to get a pictorial representation of orbital and their energies. The highest βo value of 1754.31 au is obtained for 7fb which is indicating its excellent NLO properties. Nature and strength of Intermolecular interactions in crystal packing is considered through Hirshfeld surface (HS) analysis using the CrystalExplorer. Hence, the studied compounds have significant reactivity and NLO properties and may open a new door in searching for new NLO materials.

Interactions and reactivity in crystalline intermediates of mechanochemical cyclorhodation reactions.

There is experimental evidence that solid mixtures of the rhodium dimer [Cp*RhCl2]2 and benzo[h] quinoline (BHQ) produce two different polymorphic molecular cocrystals called 4α and 4β under ball milling conditions. The addition of NaOAc to the mixture leads to the formation of the rhodacycle [Cp*Rh-(BHQ)Cl], where the central Rh atom retains its tetracoordinate character. Isolate 4β reacts with NaOAc leading to the same rhodacycle while isolate 4α does not under the same conditions. We show that the puzzling difference in reactivity between the two cocrystals can be traced back to fundamental aspects of the intermolecular interactions between the BHQ and [Cp*RhCl2]2 fragments in the crystalline environment. To support this view, we report a number of descriptors of the nature and strength of chemical bonds and intermolecular interactions in the extended solids and in a cluster model. We calculate formal quantum mechanical descriptors based on electronic structure, electron density, and binding and interaction energies including an energy decomposition analysis. Without exception, all descriptors point to 4β being a transient structure higher in energy than 4α with larger local and global electrophilic and nucleophilic powers, a more favorable spatial and energetic distribution of the frontier orbitals, and a more fragile crystal structure.

Insight into polymorphism in weakly polar systems using favorable connection motifs

A simple geometric method on the basis of interatomic distance to visualize and count favourable connections between non-hydrogen atoms was constructed to judge the strength of intermolecular interactions in polymorphs of a weakly polar molecule, dibenzoylmethane.

Encapsulation of charged halogens by the 512 water cage.

This study focuses on the encapsulation of the entire series of halides by the 512 cage of twenty water molecules and on the characterization of water to water and water to anion interactions. State-of-the-art computations are used to determine equilibrium geometries, energy related quantities, and thermal stability towards dissociation and to dissect the nature and strength of intermolecular interactions holding the clusters as stable units. Two types of structures are revealed: heavily deformed cages for F- indicating a preference for microsolvation, and slightly deformed cages for the remaining anions indicating a preference for encapsulation. The primary variable dictating the properties of the clusters is the charge density of the central halide, with the most severe effects observed for the F- case. For the remaining halides, the anion may be safely viewed as a sort of "big electron" with little local disruptive power, enough to affect the network of non-covalent hydrogen bonds in the cage, but not enough to break it. Gibbs energies for dissociation either into cavity and halide or into water molecules and halide suggest that, in a similar way as to methane clathrate, a more weakly bonded complex that has been detected in the gas phase, all halide containing clathrate-like structures should be amenable to experimental detection in the gas phase at moderate temperature and pressure conditions.

Volumetric Behaviour of Binary Mixture of Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK) and Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) at 303K

The study of volume changes in binary mixtures is attracting considerable interest from researchers due to the degree of molecular interaction between the mixed solvent molecules and their importance in many chemical industries and engineering disciplines. The experimental values of densities (ρ) and viscosities (η) of pure and binary mixtures of dual-purpose kerosene (DPK) and automotive gas oil (AGO) were obtained over the whole range of mixture composition at a temperature of 303 K. The experimental data obtained were employed to determine the excess molar volume (V_m^E), excess viscosity (VE), and excess Gibb’s free energy of activation (ΔGE) based on the molecular interactions arising due to the structural effect of the mixture. The measured viscosity values were correlated with Grunberg and Nissan, Kendel and Monroe, and Frenkel’s semi-empirical models to evaluate the best fit for the system. The results acquired were explained according to their structural differences, strength, and nature of intermolecular interactions in the binary mixture. The experimental result revealed that the binary mixture of DPK and AGO shows positive excess molar volume and negative excess viscosity. Weak, specific interactions were responsible for the dispersion force in the binary mixtures.

Hydrogen bonding and Hirshfeld surface analysis of gallic acid and its monohydrate based on terahertz spectroscopy

The terahertz (THz) spectroscopy of gallic acid (GA) and gallic acid monohydrate (GAMD) in the frequency range of 0.2–3.0 THz were investigated using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) system. The THz absorption spectrum of GAMD exhibited a red-shift compared to that of GA. To resolve the absorption spectra of the two substances, density functional theory (DFT) was employed to calculate and simulate the theoretical spectra of the two substances in this frequency range, while the vibration mode automatic relevance determination (VMARD) method combined with GaussView and VMD software was utilized to determine the origin of each absorption peak. Additionally, Hirshfeld surface analysis and the Atoms-in-Molecules (AIM) topological analysis were conducted to explore the intermolecular interactions between GA and GAMD. The results revealed that the characteristic absorption peaks of both GA and GAMD are attributed to overall atomic and molecular motions, whereas those of GAMD are accompanied by water molecule translation. Furthermore, H…O/O…H hydrogen bonding was identified as the main contributor to the interaction between GA and GAMD. The addition of water molecules led to differentiation in the position and strength of intermolecular interactions; specifically, hydrogen bonding in GA primarily involved the carboxyl group with the hydroxyl group, while hydrogen bonding in GAMD occurred between the water molecule and the hydroxyl group of the central molecule.

Crowder titrations enable the quantification of driving forces for macromolecular phase separation

Macromolecular solubility is an important contributor to the driving forces for phase separation. Formally, the driving forces in a binary mixture comprising a macromolecule dissolved in a solvent can be quantified in terms of the saturation concentration, which is the threshold macromolecular concentration above which the mixture separates into coexisting dense and dilute phases. In addition, the second virial coefficient, which measures the effective strength of solvent-mediated intermolecular interactions provides direct assessments of solvent quality. The sign and magnitude of second virial coefficients will be governed by a combination of solution conditions and the nature of the macromolecule of interest. Here, we show, using a combination of theory, simulation, and in vitro experiments, that titrations of crowders, providing they are true depletants, can be used to extract the intrinsic driving forces for macromolecular phase separation. This refers to saturation concentrations in the absence of crowders and the second virial coefficients that quantify the magnitude of the incompatibility between macromolecules and the solvent. Our results show how the depletion-mediated attractions afforded by crowders can be leveraged to obtain comparative assessments of macromolecule-specific, intrinsic driving forces for phase separation.

Study on the modulating effect of halogen atom substitution on the detection range of water content detection probes in organic solvents

Fluorescence probes based on the variations of aggregation state (Aggregation-Induced Emission (AIE) and Aggregation-Caused Quenching (ACQ)) have received widespread attention due to their simplicity, efficiency and intuitiveness. However, typical probes are highly sensitive to changes in polarity and slight variations in the external environment can cause a complete change in the aggregation state. With the aim of expanding the detection range of the molecular probe, this work adopts a different design strategy from adjusting the molecular backbone but regulates the fluorescence behavior of the Schiff base molecular backbone by introducing different halogen atoms. Systematic studies show that when chlorine serves as substitutional atoms (3,5-Cl Salen), the probe can achieve full-range detection of water content (0–100 vol%) in ethanol and DMF. To our knowledge, the 3,5-Cl Salen represents the best water content probe in organic molecules. Experimental and theoretical studies have shown that the adjustment of halogen atoms can linearly change the charge distribution on the benzene ring and precisely control the strength of intermolecular interactions. At the same time, we developed a fluorescent filter paper based on 3,5-Cl Salen and used smartphones for rapid, sensitive and precise on-site measurement of water content in organic solvents.

Dynamic adsorption behavior of 1.1.1.2-tetrafluoroethane (R134a) on activated carbon beds under different humidity and moisture levels

1.1.1.2-Tetrafluoroethane (R134a) is developed as a tracer for mechanical leakage detection in military chemistry. Due to the weaker physical adsorption properties, water vapor competitive adsorption limits the use of tracer R134a. Thus, it is urgent to the analyze dynamic competitive adsorption behavior of R134a and water vapor on the activated carbon. In this study, R134a breakthrough curves on the fixed beds packed with activated carbons under different relative humidity and moisture content levels were systematically measured. Combining mass spectrometry, gas chromatography, and a novel fiber Bragg grating temperature sensor, the dynamic competitive adsorption processes and axial temperature of fixed beds were first reported. Interestingly, with increasing moisture content, R134a breakthrough time decreased, but dynamic adsorption capacity increased. This was attributed to the fact that the residual water vapor could increase the specific surface area and pore volume of activated carbon to enhance R134a dynamic adsorption capacity. Using the R134a as the standard, the dynamic competitive adsorption process was first revealed and could be divided into four stages including Co-adsorption, Co-breakthrough, Competitive Adsorption (“Rolling Up” and “Adsorption Platform”), and Dynamic Adsorption Equilibrium. “Rolling Up” and “Adsorption Platform” phenomena are mainly determined by the strength of intermolecular interactions, the concentration difference of adsorbate, and the thermal effect induced by water vapor adsorption/desorption.

Liquid state theory study of the phase behavior and macromolecular scale structure of model biomolecular condensates.

Biomolecular condensates can form through the liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) of proteins and RNAs in cells. However, other states of organization, including mesostructured network microstructures and physical gels, have been observed, the physical mechanism of which are not well understood. We use the Polymer Reference Interaction Site Model liquid state integral equation theory to study the equilibrium behavior of (generally aperiodic in sequence) biomolecular condensates based on a minimal sticker-spacer associating polymer model. The role of polymer packing fraction, sequence, and the strength and range of intermolecular interactions on macromolecular scale spatial organization and phase behavior is studied for typical sticker-spacer sequences. In addition to the prediction of conventional LLPS, a sequence-dependent strongly fluctuating polymeric microemulsion homogeneous state is predicted at high enough concentrations beyond the so-called Lifshitz-like point, which we suggest can be relevant to the dense phase of microstructured biomolecular condensates. New connections between local clustering and the formation of mesoscopic microdomains, the influence of attraction range, compressibility, and the role of spatial correlations across scales, are established. Our results are also germane to understanding the polymer physics of dense solutions of nonperiodic and unique sequence synthetic copolymers and provide a foundation to create new theories for how polymer diffusion and viscosity are modified in globally isotropic and homogeneous dense polymeric microemulsions.

Cocrystallization of Dasatinib with different acids improves the solubility and physicochemical properties: A combined experimental and theoretical studies

Dasatinib (DAS) is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that is categorized as a class-II drug by Biopharmaceutical Classification System (BCS). It is used to treat Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML). The present work aimed to use the cocrystallization technique to enhance DAS's physicochemical characteristics. By applying the slow evaporation approach, we reported three DAS cocrystals with different structures of co-formers such as 4 hydroxybenzoic acid, 4-chlorobenzene acid, and Sorbic acid. Single Crystal X-ray Diffraction (SCXRD), Powder X-ray Diffraction (PXRD), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) were used to analyze the three obtained cocrystals. The solubility of DAS cocrystals was investigated and found to be ideally enhanced up to 6-fold, 4.5-fold, and 3.5-fold higher than DAS. According to the findings, the DAS cocrystal system has strong hydrogen bonding and stacking interactions. We also performed quantum chemical calculation and quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) analysis to understand the strength of intermolecular interactions. From this study, we observed that cocrystallization was a promising technique for changing the physicochemical properties of DAS.

Geometrical and temperature impact on elucidation of intermolecular interactions for the binary mixtures of morpholine with aliphatic esters by thermodynamic, FTIR and DFT study

Abstract In this investigation, the binary solutions of morpholine (MP) with tert-butyl acetate (TBA), iso-butyl acetate (IBA), butyl acetate (BA) and butyl acrylate (BAC) were prepared for the densities (ρ) and speeds of sound (u) measurements at T = (303.15, 308.15, 313.15 and 318.15) K over the entire composition range and at atmospheric pressure (P = 0.1 MPa). From these data, excess thermodynamic properties such as excess molar volume ( V m E ${V}_{m}^{E}$ ), excess isentropic compressibility ( κ S E ${\kappa }_{S}^{E}$ ) and excess speeds of sound ( u E ${u}^{E}$ ) were calculated to elucidate the strength and types of intermolecular interactions between the component molecules. Redlich-Kister (RK) equation and Prigogine–Flory–Patterson (PFP) theory was applied to correlate the excess parameters and excess volumes, respectively. Further, intermolecular free length theory and collision frequency theory were used to correlate the speed of sound data. Shifting of bands (δν), bond length and hydrogen bond strength between the atoms were calculated from the experimental FTIR and DFT theoretical studies. The systematic increasing order of the intermolecular hydrogen bond strength between the two atoms in the studied binary systems as follows: TBA > IBA > BA > BAC.

Vibrational spectra and quantum chemical investigations on nicotinium nitrate monohydrate single crystal for anti bacterial studies

Nicotinium Nitrate Monohydrate (NNM) was grown by slow evaporation method. The arrangment of the molecules and hydrogen bonding intractionsin the grown crystal were analyzed using single crystal XRD. The structure, functional groups (vibrational analysis) and electronic properties (Mulliken and HOMO-LUMO analysis) were calculated by the density functional theory (DFT)/B3LYP/wB97XD method using 6–311++G (d,p) basis set. Also, the binding energy and the effect of basis set superposition error (BSSE) on the ring motifs have been investigated. The intermolecular interactions and charge delocalization density of NNM crystal have been analyzed using NBO 3.1 program. The strength of intermolecular interaction was further analyzed by 3D Hirshfeld surface analysis using fingerprint plot. Improved solubility of the title crystal NNM shows an enhanced physio-chemical activity compared to pure vitamin B3 (Nicotinic acid). The antibacterial activity of NNM crystal increased against Staphylococcus aureus a gram-positive bacteria when compared with pure nicotinic acid.

Chaos in coupled atom–molecular Bose–Einstein condensates

We investigate the chaotic dynamics of a coupled three-level atom–molecular Bose–Einstein condensate system composed by one molecular mode and two atomic modes. With the increase of atom–molecular coupling strength, we reveal the emergence of chaotic oscillations of the relative population difference between two atomic modes, which can be proven by the broad windows with a huge number of frequencies in spectral density and the chaotic trajectories in phase space diagrams. The different effects of initial states on atomic population oscillations are revealed, where for more particles in the initial state of the molecular model, chaos appears in the larger parameter region of system dynamics. Furthermore, we find that strong intermolecular interaction strength can suppress chaos resulting from strong atom–molecule coupling. This is due to the difficult transformation between atomic and molecular modes, as well as the relatively independent dynamic evolution of atoms and molecules.
