Android-Based Application Design for Goods Inventory System Using the Barcode Scan Method

Stock information system is one of the important systems in a company. This system serves to manage and control the stock of goods in the company. One technology that can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of stock information systems is barcodes. Barcodes are two-dimensional matrix codes that can store large amounts of information. This research aims to design and build a stock information system using Android-based barcodes. The system is built using PHP and MySQL programming languages. The results of the study show that the stock information system using Android-based barcodes can increase the efficiency and effectiveness of stock management. Barcodes can be scanned using a tool that emits infrared light and is reflected by black and white lines on the barcode. This information is then decoded by sensors in the scanner and converted into numeric and letter codes. The data obtained will be submitted to a computer device or other system for further processing, such as recording transactions. This system can be used to reduce time and costs in managing stock.

Development a Data Validation Module to Satisfy the Retention Policy Metric

Every year the size of the global big data market is growing. Analysing these data is essential for good decision-making. Big data technologies lead to a significant cost reduction with use of cloud services, distributed file systems, when there is a need to store large amounts of information. The quality of data analytics is dependent on the quality of the data themselves. This is especially important if the data has a retention policy and migrates from one source to another, increasing the risk of a data loss. Prevention of negative consequences from data migration is achieved through the process of data reconciliation – a comprehensive verification of large amounts of information in order to confirm their consistency.
 This article discusses probabilistic data structures that can be used to solve the problem, and suggests an implementation – data integrity verification module using a Counting Bloom filter. This module is integrated into Apache Airflow to automate its invocation.

Doc2KG

Document Management Systems (DMS) are used for decades to store large amounts of information in textual form. Their technology paradigm is based on storing vast quantities of textual information enriched with metadata to support searchability. However, this exhibits limitations as it treats textual information as black box and is based exclusively on user-created metadata, a process that suffers from quality and completeness shortcomings. The use of knowledge graphs in DMS can substantially improve searchability, providing the ability to link data and enabling semantic searching. Recent approaches focus on either creating knowledge graphs from document collections or updating existing ones. In this paper, we introduce Doc2KG (Document-to-Knowledge-Graph), an intelligent framework that handles both creation and real-time updating of a knowledge graph, while also exploiting domain-specific ontology standards. We use DIAVGEIA (clarity), an award winning Greek open government portal, as our case-study and discuss new capabilities for the portal by implementing Doc2KG.

Information systems serve as the optimal mechanism for automating the above-mentioned needs. In addition, information systems allow you to quickly get up-to-date data from various departments in the organization and use the information obtained for management purposes, as well as store large amounts of information and data. Automation of work with information also allows you to conduct analytical work, in particular on the study of the psychological state of employees of the organization, monitoring of cognitive processes. The basis for the development of an information system for recording employee data was a detailed study of the modern business community, as well as offers on the software market in the field of automation of personnel service employees. The identified basic needs for information and data when informatizing the activities of employees in various organizations or companies allowed the authors to develop an information system that meets all modern requirements.

The technology of data transmission from spacecraft of remote sensing of the Earth to reception points on the ground has certain disadvantages such as the inability to quickly receive remote sens-ing data and the need to store large amounts of information on board. The technology of data re-transmission from remote sensing satellites through geostationary satellites retransmitters Luch to the reception points on the ground has the following disadvantages: the inability to quickly receive data when the remote sensing spacecraft is in the central part of the Western Hemisphere and the need for early planning of retransmission sessions. The article presents advanced concepts of com-munication organization and algorithms for establishing connections between the spacecraft and the point of data reception and transmission via a geostationary satellite repeater. The concepts are based on the following modern technologies: the availability of inter-satellite communication lines between geostationary satellites retransmitters that transforms this segment of communication net-work into a transport digital network for data transmission; the application of network technology for data flow routing that enables data transmission in an automatic mode; the application of auto-matic technology for establishing connections between remote sensing satellites and geostationary satellites retransmitters that transforms the ground reception point into a subscriber of the transport digital network by analogy with mobile network.

Bilingual Peptide Nucleic Acids: Encoding the Languages of Nucleic Acids and Proteins in a Single Self-Assembling Biopolymer.

Nucleic acids and proteins are the fundamental biopolymers that support all life on Earth. Nucleic acids store large amounts of information in nucleobase sequences while peptides and proteins utilize diverse amino acid functional groups to adopt complex structures and perform wide-ranging activities. Although nature has evolved machinery to read the nucleic acid code and translate it into amino acid code, the extant biopolymers are restricted to encoding amino acid or nucleotide sequences separately, limiting their potential applications in medicine and biotechnology. Here we describe the design, synthesis, and stimuli-responsive assembly behavior of a bilingual biopolymer that integrates both amino acid and nucleobase sequences into a single peptide nucleic acid (PNA) scaffold to enable tunable storage and retrieval of tertiary structural behavior and programmable molecular recognition capabilities. Incorporation of a defined sequence of amino acid side-chains along the PNA backbone yields amphiphiles having a "protein code" that directs self-assembly into micellar architectures in aqueous conditions. However, these amphiphiles also carry a "nucleotide code" such that subsequent introduction of a complementary RNA strand induces a sequence-specific disruption of assemblies through hybridization. Together, these properties establish bilingual PNA as a powerful biopolymer that combines two information systems to harness structural responsiveness and sequence recognition. The PNA scaffold and our synthetic system are highly generalizable, enabling fabrication of a wide array of user-defined peptide and nucleotide sequence combinations for diverse future biomedical and nanotechnology applications.

Three-Dimensional Magnetic Page Memory

The increasing need to store large amounts of information with an ultra-dense, reliable, low power and low cost memory device is driving aggressive efforts to improve upon current perpendicular magnetic recording technology. However, the difficulties in fabricating small grain recording media while maintaining thermal stability and a high signal-to-noise ratio motivate development of alternative methods, such as the patterning of magnetic nano-islands and utilizing energy-assist for future applications. In addition, both from sensor and memory perspective three-dimensional spintronic devices are highly desirable to overcome the restrictions on the functionality in the planar structures. Here we demonstrate a three-dimensional magnetic-memory (magnetic page memory) based on thermally assisted and stray-field induced transfer of domains in a vertical stack of magnetic nanowires with perpendicular anisotropy. Using spin-torque induced domain shifting in such a device with periodic pinning sites provides additional degrees of freedom by allowing lateral information flow to realize truly three-dimensional integration.

The Synaptomic Theory of Behavior and Brain Disease.

The purpose of this article is to outline a new molecular and synaptic theory of behavior called the "synaptomic theory," named because it is centered on the synaptome-the complement of synapses in the brain. Synaptomic theory posits that synapses are structures of high molecular complexity and vast diversity that are observable in maps of the brain and that these synaptome maps are fundamental to behavior. Synaptome maps are a means of writing or storing information that can be retrieved by the patterns of activity that stimulate synapses. Synaptome maps have the capacity to store large amounts of information, including multiple representations within the same map. The dynamic properties of synapses allow synaptome maps to store dynamic sequences of representations that could serve to program behavioral sequences. Synaptome maps are genetically programmed and experience-dependent, thereby storing innate and learned behaviors, respectively. Although learning occurs by modification of the synapse proteome, it does not require long-term potentiation (LTP) of synaptic weight or growth of new synapses, and the theory predicts that LTP modulates information recall. The spatial architecture of synaptome maps arise from an underlying molecular hierarchy linking the genome to the supramolecular assembly of proteins into complexes and supercomplexes. This molecular hierarchy can explain how genome evolution results in the behavioral repertoire of the organism. Mutations disrupting this molecular hierarchy change the architecture of synaptome maps, potentially accounting for the behavioral phenotypes associated with neurological and psychiatric disorders.

Development of the Tool SymbioSyS to Support the Transition Towards a Circular Economy Based on Industrial Symbiosis Strategies

The European Commission is focusing its efforts on boosting the circular economy, and industrial symbiosis is one of the main strategies to be used. Businesses, consumers and administrations must learn to efficiently use resources and identify new forms of cooperation. The aim of this contribution is to present SymbioSyS, a tool based on ICT-web systems to promote the sustainable use of resources through IS strategies and to facilitate networking among companies and businesses. The SymbioSyS tool supports the following objectives: (1) The building of a large database that stores both tacit knowledge of experiences and practices and explicit information about activities (2). The detection of potential synergies for substitution and mutuality and providing a feasibility study. An ontological framework has been developed to set hierarchical classifications to process the information and identify synergies (3). The visualization and mapping of IS by georeferencing to analyse variables such as distances, transportation routes and optimal locations for new facilities. This has been implemented as a client–server model that allows multiple users to simultaneously connect and store large amounts of information; users access the application from a web-service. The tool has been tested within an industrial park community consisting of 25 small and medium sized enterprises from different industrial sectors (e.g., automotive, building sector), allowing the visualization of both types of synergies, the exchange of resources and joint waste management opportunities. The functions and performance of the tool are demonstrated through the case study.

Neural Network Model of Memory Retrieval.

Human memory can store large amount of information. Nevertheless, recalling is often a challenging task. In a classical free recall paradigm, where participants are asked to repeat a briefly presented list of words, people make mistakes for lists as short as 5 words. We present a model for memory retrieval based on a Hopfield neural network where transition between items are determined by similarities in their long-term memory representations. Meanfield analysis of the model reveals stable states of the network corresponding (1) to single memory representations and (2) intersection between memory representations. We show that oscillating feedback inhibition in the presence of noise induces transitions between these states triggering the retrieval of different memories. The network dynamics qualitatively predicts the distribution of time intervals required to recall new memory items observed in experiments. It shows that items having larger number of neurons in their representation are statistically easier to recall and reveals possible bottlenecks in our ability of retrieving memories. Overall, we propose a neural network model of information retrieval broadly compatible with experimental observations and is consistent with our recent graphical model (Romani et al., 2013).

Using magnetic permeability bits to store information

Steps are described in the development of a new magnetic memory technology, based on states with different magnetic permeability, with the capability to reliably store large amounts of information in a high-density form for decades. The advantages of using the permeability to store information include an insensitivity to accidental exposure to magnetic fields or temperature changes, both of which are known to corrupt memory approaches that rely on remanent magnetization. The high permeability media investigated consists of either films of Metglas 2826 MB (Fe40Ni38Mo4B18) or bilayers of permalloy (Ni78Fe22)/Cu. Regions of films of the high permeability media were converted thermally to low permeability regions by laser or ohmic heating. The permeability of the bits was read by detecting changes of an external 32 Oe probe field using a magnetic tunnel junction 10 μm away from the media. Metglas bits were written with 100 μs laser pulses and arrays of 300 nm diameter bits were read. The high and low permeability bits written using bilayers of permalloy/Cu are not affected by 10 Mrad(Si) of gamma radiation from a 60Co source. An economical route for writing and reading bits as small at 20 nm using a variation of heat assisted magnetic recording is discussed.

A Cluster based Approach with N-grams at Word Level for Document Classification

A breakneck progress of computers and web makes it easier to collect and store large amount of information in the form of text; e.g., reviews, forum postings, blogs, web pages, news articles, email messages. In text mining, growing size of text datasets and high dimensionality associated with natural language is great challenge which makes it difficult to classify documents in various categories and sub-categories. This paper focuses on cluster based document classification technique so that data inside each cluster shares some common trait. The common approach for document clustering problem is bag of words model (BOW), where words are considered as features. But some semantic information is always lost as only words are considered. Thus we aim at using vector-space model based on N-grams at word level which helps to reduce the loss of semantic information. The problem of high dimensionality is solved with feature selection technique by applying threshold on feature values of vector space model. The vector space is mapped into a modified one with latent semantic analysis (LSA). Clustering of documents is done using k-means algorithm. Experiments are performed on Stack Exchange data set of some categories. R is used as text mining tool for implementation purpose. Experiment results show that tri-grams give better clustering results than words and bi-grams.

From Information to Knowledge: Business Intelligence Usage and Perspectives

A lack of quality data is one of the managing problems. It does not mean that they do not exist, but on the contrary, we are usually swamped with unnecessary information. The problem is how to extract the essential data for decision-making from the large amount of data. The data are the part of the organization's assets and, together with the capital and human resources, are an important part of the overall competitiveness. New technologies to support taking the correct and valid conclusions from the enormous amounts of data are created every day. Business intelligence and knowledge management are indispensable elements of successful business systems and public administration strategy. The concept of business intelligence or business information management is one of the modern systems that offered the possibility of a comprehensive and efficient usage of information. The concept of business information management also provides usage of the remaining collected data and converting them into useful information and knowledge. The information technology development in recent years provides the ability to store large amounts of information at lower costs, and people share their knowledge and jointly and interactively work at large distances. If we take into account the aspirations of Bosnia and Herzegovina toward accession to the EU, the concept of business intelligence is even more important as our systems can be connected with the systems at the European Union level, or the public administration interoperability in the European context can be achieved. Goal of the paper is to review the notion of business intelligence, and to assess the level of business intelligence usage in the public organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Defending Critical Information Infrastructure from Cyberattacks through the Use of Security Controls in Layers

Critical information infrastructure has enabled organisations to store large amounts of information on their systems and deliver it via networks such as the internet, providing users with internet services. However, some organisations have not effectively secured their critical information infrastructure and hackers, disgruntled employees and other entities have taken advantage of this by launching cyberattacks on their critical information infrastructure. They do this by using cyberthreats to exploit vulnerabilities in critical information infrastructure which organisations fail to secure. As a result, cyberthreats are able to steal or damage confidential information stored on systems or take down websites, preventing access to information. Despite this, risk strategies can be used to implement a number of security controls: preventive, detective and corrective controls, which together form a system of controls. These security controls are used in layers to increase the level of security. This will ensure that the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information is preserved, thus reducing risks to information. This system of controls is based on the General Systems Theory which states that the elements of a system are interdependent and contribute to the operation of the whole system. Finally, a model is proposed to address insecure critical information infrastructure.

QR Code, or Quick Response Code not only created the evolution of barcodes from one dimension to two dimensions, and the ability to store large amounts of information, but also created changes in the lifestyle and payment methods of today's society. By using a digital wallet application (digital wallet), the shopping dimension becomes faster, easier, and more cash-less. This paper explores how to implement a QRIS (quick response indonesia standard) code scanning transaction as the basis for payment system service providers using digital wallet applications in general. One model of using QR, namely CPM (customer presented mode) is a QR method that is generated directly by customers through their devices. QRIS CPM makes it easy for customers to transact, and makes it easier for merchants to verify and settle. This study aims to show the results of the implementation of QRIS CPM in the development environment to ensure zero defects before being deployed to the production environment. Shiva++: An Enhanced Graph based Ontology Matcher

With the web getting bigger and assimilating knowledge about different concepts and domains, it is becoming very difficult for simple database driven applications to capture the data for a domain. Thus developers have come out with ontology based systems which can store large amount of information and can apply reasoning and produce timely information. Thus facilitating effective knowledge management. Though this approach has made our lives easier, but at the same time has given rise to another problem. Two different ontologies assimilating same knowledge tend to use different terms for the same concepts. This creates confusion among knowledge engineers and workers, as they do not know which is a better term then the other. Thus we need to merge ontologies working on same domain so that the engineers can develop a better application over it. This paper shows the development of one such matcher which merges the concepts available in two ontologies at two levels; 1) at string level and 2) at semantic level; thus producing better merged ontologies. We have used a graph matching technique which works at the core of the system. We have also evaluated the system and have tested its performance with its predecessor which works only on string matching. Thus current approach produces better results.

Micro secure digital card: A novel method for denture identification.

Aim:Denture labeling is of vital significance in social and forensic scenario. Numerous published work have attempted to present best method for denture marking, however not all satisfy crucial requirement either in terms of cost or storage of large amount of information. Hence, this paper describes a simple, cheap, and feasible denture marking system using portable Micro Secure Digital (MicroSD) card. These cards are created to store, modify, and view large amount of information with mobile phones, which forms an important part in majority of household in India.Materials and Methods:After try-in make a depression slightly wider than the size of the MicroSD card on the external lingual flange of the trial mandibular denture. Process the denture together with acrylic wax flap according to manufacturer's instructions. The acrylic flap is planned in such a way that it is well-flushed with surrounding areas and can be lifted on one side to access the card. MicroSD card is placed in the denture and flap is closed.Conclusion:The proposed method is simple, cheap, and can store large amount of information.
