Hypersonic rarefied gas flow around a double cone configuration was simulated by the direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method with variable soft sphere (VSS) model for elastic molecular collision, statistical inelastic cross section (SICS) model for rotationally inelastic molecular collision, and inelastic cross section model for viblationally inelastic molecular collision (VICS). Calculation results such as pressure coefficient and heat flux coefficient were compared with those of experiment. It was observed that serious discrepancy between the simulation results and the measured data.
