Relationship History of Parenting and Antenatal Care Visits with Stunting Events in Children Aged 24-36 Months in West Aceh Regency

Stunting is the inability of children under five to grow normally due to the effects of chronic lack of nutrition so that their height is very short for their age. Data from SSGI in 2022, Aceh Province has a prevalence rate of stunting among children under five which is ranked fifth with a percentage of 31.2 percent. According to SSGI data for 2021, stunting in West Aceh Regency was 27.4 percent and increased to 30.4 percent in 2022 with a very high category. The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship between parenting styles and the incidence of stunting in children 24-36 months in West Aceh Regency. This type of research is quantitative research with a case control design. The sample size was 100 toddlers, 50 toddlers were selected for the case group and 100 toddlers for the control group. The results of the study showed that the variables that were related were parenting patterns for breastfeeding and food (p=0.016), personal hygiene parenting patterns (p=0.028) and history of antenatal care visits (p=0.007) with the incidence of stunting. Suggestions for this research to the government are expected to be able to synergize better in creating programs to overcome stunting and poverty and improve the performance of services and implementation of specific nutritional intervention programs for pregnant women. One of them is an examination program during pregnancy both in terms of quantity of visits and also inspections carried out during ANC activities.

Interactions between folate metabolism-related nutrients and polymorphisms on colorectal cancer risk: a case-control study in the Basque country.

Folate-mediated one-carbon metabolism (FOCM) plays an important role in colorectal carcinogenesis. Previous studies have assessed the role of folate-mediated one-carbon metabolism (FOCM)-related gene-diet interaction in the aetiology of colorectal cancer (CRC), however, the results remained inconclusive. Thus, this study aimed to investigate dietary factors and genetic variants related to FOCM, as well as potential nutrient-gene and nutrient-lifestyle interactions, on CRC risk. This observational study included 229 patients diagnosed with CRC and 229 age- and sex-matched subjects as controls from a population-based bowel cancer screening program. Conditional logistic regression was used to calculate odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (95%CI) for CRC risk. A Bonferroni-corrected threshold of α = 0.005 was considered significant, and P values less than 0.05 were considered to be suggestive of an association. After Bonferroni correction, a high dietary intake of betaine was associated with a decreased risk of CRC in the adjusted model (OR, 95% CI: 0.21, 0.10-0.40, P < 0.001). Two SNPs, rs1476413 and rs17824591, exhibited significant gene-diet interactions with total choline ad vitamin B12 intakes, respectively, in adjusted models (total choline, tertile 3 vs. 1, OR, 95% CI: 0.25, 0.11-0.66, Pinteraction = 0.012; vitamin B12, tertile 2 vs. tertile 1, OR, 95% CI: 2.48, 1.04-5.00, Pinteraction = 0.003). These findings suggest that betaine intake and interactions between some dietary factors and variants in MTHFR and MTHFD1 genes have an influence on CRC risk in the population studied. If these results are confirmed, specific nutritional intervention strategies could be designed.

Integrated Approach for Early Detection and Prevention of Abnormal Child Growth: A Kansei Design and Quality Function Deployment Study

Sustainable development aims to reduce inequalities, including health inequalities. Focusing on early identification and prevention of growth and developmental disorders, as advocated in the article, contributes to reducing health disparities, which is a key aspect of sustainability. This article delves into the significance of assessing an individual’s physique as an initial diagnostic method for evaluating well-being, addressing both physical and mental health aspects. Body mass index (BMI) is commonly used to assess anthropometric height/weight attributes, aiding in nutrition evaluation and categorization, contributing to the promotion of healthy lives and well-being. The focus lies on growth monitoring for infants and children. The stunting not only impacts mental and physical development but also contributes to lifelong health disparities. Indonesia ranks fifth in global stunting cases. The government aims to reduce stunting by 14% in 2024, employing specific nutritional interventions. Stunting’s consequences span increased illness rates, compromised growth and learning, susceptibility to diseases in adulthood, and diminished productivity. Early identification and prevention are essential, with Posyandu serving as a platform for community-driven health progress. Regarding the early detection of stunting, it is imperative to involve healthcare workers in the design process of growth monitoring tools and interventions. This ensures that these tools and interventions are practical and user-friendly in real-world scenarios. Utilizing user-centered design approaches like Kansei Design Thinking and Quality Function Deployment can lead to the development of more effective and engaging tools and interventions.

Factors Inhibiting Implementation of Disaster Management Policies (Case Study of Stunting Management in Rokan Hilir Regency)

Globally, in 2020 it was estimated that 149 million children under the age of 5 will experience stunting (WHO, 2020). In 2021, the stunting prevalence rate in Indonesia would still be 24.4%, even though the WHO maximum limit for stunting in a country is 20%. Meanwhile, the prevalence of stunting in West Sumatra at the end of 2021 was 23% (Ministry of Health, 2021). To accelerate the reduction in stunting rates, the government is implementing a convergent intervention approach involving multiple sectors at various levels. Implementation of convergent interventions was carried out by combining or integrating various resources to achieve a common goal, namely ensuring that services from each specific nutrition intervention and sensitive nutrition intervention are available in districts/cities and villages and are easily accessed and utilized by community groups in need, especially mothers. Pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and children aged between 0 and 23 months were referred to as 1000 HPK households or priority targets. Apart from that there were important target categories, namely children aged between 24 and 59 months, women of childbearing age, and young women. This research examines the factors inhibiting the implementation of disaster management policies (Case Study of Stunting Management in Rokan Hilir Regency). This research was carried out to deal with stunting and accelerate the reduction in stunting prevalence. The involvement of all stakeholders in encouraging, modifying, and expanding the scope of work areas certainly requires support and sufficient budget from the central and regional governments. The role of multi-stakeholders is really needed by building commitment, shared perspectives, resource support, and actor strength. The approach taken is a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis methods. The data required in this research consists of primary and secondary data. The units of analysis in this research are people or parties who are considered to have knowledge about the implementation of food security policy innovations in dealing with stunting and also from the policy implementing apparatus. Some of whom have certain positions, including staff, the community and also from NGOs which are parties involved in implementing food security policy innovations to combat stunting in Rokan Hilir Regency.&#x0D; Keywords: Implementation Public Policy, disaster management, stunting management

UPAYA PENCEGAHAN HULU HILIR STUNTING DI WILAYAH KEDUNGWUNI BARAT

Stunting is short or very short based on length or height according to age which is less than -2 standard deviation (SD) on the WHO growth curve which occurs due to irreversible conditions due to inadequate nutritional intake and/or recurrent infections / chronic disease that occurs within 1000 HPK. Malnutrition occurs when the baby is in the womb and in the early stages of life after birth, but only appears after the child is 2 years old (Izwardy, 2019). This upstream-downstream effort to prevent stunting in the West Kedungwuni region was carried out for approximately 2 months from 11 July to 26 September 2023. This effort consists of 3 stages, namely the preparation, implementation and evaluation stages. Stunting cannot be treated but can be prevented. The Indonesian government has established a policy that efforts to prevent stunting are carried out through specific nutritional interventions and sensitive nutritional interventions. Specific nutritional interventions are interventions that focus on the health sector and contribute 30% to solving the stunting problem. Sensitive nutritional interventions focus on outside the health sector and contribute by 70% to solve the problem of stunting. Stunting is caused by several factors such as: low maternal knowledge, inappropriate parenting patterns, poor nutritional status, LBW, and low family economic status have a significant relationship to the incidence of stunting in children. Stunting cannot be treated but can still be prevented, several things that can be done to prevent stunting are maintaining nutritional intake at 1000 HPK (First Day of Life).

CGRP Antagonism and Ketogenic Diet in the Treatment of Migraine.

The study of migraine is based on the complexity of the pathology, both at the pathophysiological and epidemiological levels. Although it affects more than a billion people worldwide, it is often underestimated and underreported by patients. Migraine must not be confused with a simple headache; it is a serious and disabling disease that causes considerable limitations in the daily life of afflicted people, including social, work, and emotional effects. Therefore, it causes a daily state of suffering and discomfort. It is important to point out that this pathology not only has a decisive impact on the quality of life of those who suffer from it but also on their families and, more generally, on society as a whole. The clinical picture of migraine is complex, with debilitating unilateral or bilateral head pain, and is often associated with characteristic symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, photophobia, and phonophobia. Hormonal, environmental, psychological, dietary, or other factors can trigger it. The present review focuses on the analysis of the physiopathological and pharmacological aspects of migraine, up to the correct dietary approach, with specific nutritional interventions aimed at modulating the symptoms. Based on the symptoms that the patient experiences, targeted and specific therapy is chosen to reduce the frequency and severity of migraine attacks. Specifically, the role of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) in the pathogenesis of migraine is analyzed, along with the drugs that effectively target the corresponding receptor. Particularly, CGRP receptor antagonists (gepants) are very effective drugs in the treatment of migraine, given their high diffusion in the brain. Moreover, following a ketogenic diet for only one or two months has been demonstrated to reduce migraine attacks. In this review, we highlight the diverse facets of migraine, from its physiopathological and pharmacological aspects to prevention and therapy.

Analisis Faktor Intervensi Prioritas dan Faktor Intervensi Pendukung pada Ibu Hamil dalam Penanganan Stunting di Desa Sumpur Jaya Kecamatan Ketambe

Stunting, the nutritional problems toddlers in Indonesia. Riskesdas 2018 results 30.8% of toddlers suffer from stunting. Efforts to reduce stunting are carried out through specific nutritional interventions to address direct causes. Target group of pregnant women, priority interventions and supporting interventions are carried out. Research is to analyze priority interventions the form of providing additional food and blood supplementation. Supporting interventions include calcium supplementation and pregnancy checks for stunting. This type of research is a cross sectional study. The research was in Simpur Jaya Village, Ketambe District. Research population was multiparous pregnant wome n who had children under five in July 2023 with sample 32 people. Data by observation, filling out questionnaires and interviews. The results of the study showed that 19 pregnant women who were given additional food had toddlers with stunting (100%) (pValue = 0.000). Pregnant women not consumption of Fe tablets experience stunting of 56% (pValue = 0.033). Most mothers who consume calcium, their toddlers do not experience stunting, 83.3%(pValue= 0.033). Pregnant women who do not regularly attend ANC visits experience a stunting incidence of 62.5%(pValue = 0.012). Concludes that providing additional food, consuming Fe tablets, consuming calcium and ANC examinations influence the incidence of stunting, is hoped that health workers to prevent stunting in the long term, interventions must be complemented by improving the determinants of malnutrition, such as poverty, education, burden. disease, and women's empowerment.

Analysis of the completeness of specific nutritional interventions as an effort to prevent stunting: an observational study

ABSTRACT Introduction: Handling stunting through nutritional interventions is classified into two categories: specific nutrition interventions and sensitive nutrition intervention. Specific nutrition interventions referring to causal factors directly related to nutrition, aimed at pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, are the responsibility of the health sector, contributing 30%. The completeness of specific nutritional interventions for breastfeeding mothers according to standards are more challenging. The purpose of this study is to analyze several factors that influence the completeness of specific nutritional interventions in breastfeeding mothers to create prediction models. Methods: This was a quantitative study with a cross sectional design. The population was all breastfeeding mothers with a total of 193 nursing mothers. Samples of 128 people were taken using a simple random sampling technique. Data analysis using univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with Chi square analysis and Multivariate analysis with logistic regression analysis. Result: In bivariate analysis there were 8 influencing variables. The Mother’s education with p=0.006, Mother’s knowledge with p=0.001, Mother’s Attitudes with p=0.001, Mother’s Job with a p=0.001, Parity with p=0.001, Husband's Support with p=0.001, Health Workers’ Support with p=0.001, Village Officials’ Support with p=0.001. The most influential variable was the health workers’ support variable with OR=20.56. Through multivariate analysis, a predictive model of achieving completeness of specific nutritional interventions is produced so that it can be used as a preventive effort in overcoming these problems. Conclusion: The completeness of specific nutritional interventions for breastfeeding mothers has not been achieved according to the government's target, it is necessary to intervene on the factors that influence it which include mother’s knowledge, mother’s attitude, husband’s support, health workers’ support and village apparatus’ support.Keyword : Stunting, nutritional support, specific intervention

Nutritional Characteristic of Snack bar Formulation Based on Snakehead Fish-Sorghum Flour Flakes and Kidney Beans

Proving supplementary food such as snack bar from high in energy, protein and iron local foods (snakehead fish flour, sorghum and kidney bean) can be used as specific nutrition intervention for CED and anemia in pregnant women. This study aimed to analyze and nutritional characteristic of snakehead fish-sorghum flour flakes and kidney bean snack bar. The experimental method was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four ratios of snakehead fish flour-sorghum flakes and kidney beans, namely F1 (50%:50%), F2 (60%:40%), F3 (70%:30%) and F4 (80%:20%). Nutritional characteristic of snack bar was analyzed using One Way ANOVA and Duncan’s further test. The results showed that the difference ratios of snakehead fish flour-sorghum flakes and kidney beans had significant effect on energy, moisture, carbohydrates, fat, protein, zinc, iron and calcium of snack bar (p&lt;0.05). The nutrient content of snack bar F2, F2, F3 and F4 were energy (432,04 kcal; 433,77 kcal; 4329,49 kcal; 437,56 kcal), ash content (3,21%; 3,24%; 3,29%; 3,24%), moisture content (14,46%; 14,71%, 13,35%; 13,72%), fat (20,54%; 21,11%, 19,21%; 21,08%), protein (16,87%; 16,97%; 19,63%; 18,57%), carbohydrates (44,93%; 43,98%; 44,53%; 43,41%), zinc (2,07 mg ; 2,04 mg; 2,07 mg, 2,18 mg), iron (4,35 mg; 6,02 mg; 6,23 mg; 6,76 mg) and calcium (114,21 mg; 130,27 mg; 123,41 mg; 131,83 mg). F4 potentially used as alternative supplementary food for pregnant women with CED and anemia because can be claimed as source of protein and iron product based on food label reference for pregnant women.

Effect of non-pharmacological intervention on the nutritional status of patients with Prader Willi Syndrome

IntroductionObesity is highly prevalent in patients with Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS), particularly among adults. This condition, which can be morbid in many cases, is multifactorial and has a complex management. The purpose of our study was to describe the feasibility of achieving a better nutritional status, including normal weight in individuals diagnosed with PWS, through specific nutritional interventions within the framework of a transdisciplinary treatment and without resorting to pharmacological treatments or growth hormone (GH). MethodologyThis observational study included patients with confirmed genetic diagnosis of PWS, receiving transdisciplinary treatment in a specialized rare diseases institution. Patients under treatment with GH and those under pharmacological treatment with nutritional objectives were excluded from the study. All patients attended our institution regularly on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Anthropometric records, including weight, height, and body mass index (BMI) were evaluated in each visit from treatment onset until the last check-up. ResultsWe included 24 patients with confirmed genetic diagnosis of PWS. At baseline, 9 patients (38%) had obesity grade III, 1 (4%) of obesity grade II, 10 (42%) of obesity grade I, 2 (8%) of overweight, and 2 patients (8%) with normal baseline weight. After a median duration of 52 months (interquartile range 23 - 116 months) of transdisciplinary nutritional treatment, we identified a significant reduction in BMI (baseline 40.2±15.7 kg/m2 vs. follow-up 28.3±6.7 kg/m2, p<0.0001), without significant differences regarding height (baseline 1.45±0.1 meters vs. follow-up 1.48±0.1 meters, p=0.09). ConclusionIn this study, we demonstrated that nutritional nonpharmacologic interventions immersed in a transdisciplinary treatment enabled a consistent and sustainable improvement in BMI and nutritional status among patients with PWS.

THE EFFECT OF NUTRITION EDUCATION TO PROSPECTIVE BRIDE IN PREGNANCY NUTRITION PREPARATION TO PREVENT THE RISK OF STUNTING: STUDY LITERATURE REVIEW

The National Strategy Program in Indonesia for the Acceleration of Stunting Prevention targets specific nutrition interventions for Women of Reproductive Age. The government implemented a health examination program for prospective brides to prevent the risk of stunting. This study aims to describe the implementation of nutrition education for brides in Indonesia, and its effect on knowledge, attitudes, and consumption behavior of nutritious food as a preparation for a healthy pregnancy. The method of this research is Systematic Literature Review by screening articles using the PRISMA chart. The article sources used were Google Scholar and Garuda with article years 2020 to 2022, 333 articles were found, and 16 articles were required to be reviewed using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses method. Description of research results is the locations used to provide education include the Office of Religious Affairs (Kantor Urusan Agama), Puskesmas, and local area halls. The educational media used are booklets, leaflets, digital applications, social media, and PowerPoint presentations. The nutrition materials given were 1000 HPK, preconception nutrition, and anemia prevention. The results of the study provided nutrition education had a significant impact on knowledge and attitudes, but education would have an impact on behavior if it was given at least 3 times. This study concludes that the nutrition education strategy needs to include factors that affect education acceptance such as educational background and social economy, and the impact assessment of education must also include the behavior of consuming nutritious food and changes in the body's nutritional status.

Determining the Role of Exclusive Breastfeeding and Nutritional Status in Stunting Prevention: A Literature Review

Stunting among children is a serious global concern including Indonesia since it has a negative impact on children's growth and development. Globally, more than 148 million children are affected by stunting. In Indonesia, the prevalence of stunting was 21.6% in 2022, which reflected a serious problem that needs to be addressed. This study aims to explore the correlation between exclusive breastfeeding, nutritional status and stunting among under-five children in Indonesia. The current study explored the correlation between exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) and nutritional status with the incidence of stunting among under-five. The inclusion criteria consisted of original articles, open access, written in English/Indonesian, 2020-2023, discussed EBF, nutritional status, and stunting. Databases involved ScienceDirect, PubMed, BMC journals, Google Scholar. Article selection used keywords and MeSH, and the results were presented in a PRISMA diagram. It was conducted an analysis of 10 articles, which were grouped in a matrix based on author, year, journal name, title, methods, and results. The results revealed that exclusive breastfeeding practice was correlated with a 3.1-fold reduction in the risk of stunting (CI 95%=1.5–6.4). Factors such as good nutrition and breastfeeding for at least 6 months provided protection from the risk of stunting. In conclusion, exclusive breastfeeding and good nutritional status were required, along with strengthening education and promotion regarding nutritional fulfilment patterns. Integration of the study findings should be made in child health guidelines, which may further guide policy and practice, support concrete steps to reduce the prevalence of stunting, and ensure optimal growth of children. Recommendations in this study include improvement in maternal education, nutritional support, and child health policy advocacy. For next steps, in-depth research is needed to evaluate the impact of specific nutritional interventions, understand the social and cultural factors that influence nutritional practices, and assess the effectiveness of cross-sector programs in reducing the prevalence of stunting.

IMPLEMENTASI PROGRAM INTERVENSI GIZI SPESIFIK PADA REMAJA PUTRI DAN BALITA DI PUSKESMAS PATEAN KABUPATEN KENDAL

The scope of implementing specific nutrition intervention programs at the Patean Health Center for young women and toddlers in 2021 and 2022 was still not in line with the national target. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of a specific nutrition intervention program for girls and toddlers at the Patean Health Center. This research was a qualitative research with a descriptive approach through in-depth interviews conducted from January to July 2023. The data processing method used content analysis.The results showed that the implementation of the specific nutrition intervention program for young women and toddlers are not optimal. Obstacles in the activities of young women are caused by unclear communication, limited and inadequate support facilities and fragmentation that is not in accordance with policy. Obstacles in toddler activities are caused by limited quality of posyandu cadres, limited budget and inadequate supporting facilities. It can be concluded that the implementation of specific nutrition intervention programs for girls and toddlers at the Patean Public Health Center is not optimal because it is influenced by communication factors, resources, attitudes and bureaucratic structures

Pendampingan Pencegahan Stunting melalui Intervensi Gizi Spesifik di Desa Mekar Sari Kecamatan Tatah Makmur Kabupaten Banjar

Purpose: The aim of this community service is to prevent the occurrence and increase of stunting through assistance with specific nutritional interventions in Mekar Sari Village, Tatah Makmur District, Banjar Regency. Methodology: Prevention assistance was carried out through counseling and providing education and information to pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and mothers with toddlers. The implementation of activities was also carried out in stages, including on September 22, 2023, counseling was given and provision of nutritious food and vegetables, continuously on October 4, 2023, was carried out at the same time as Posyandu activities by providing counseling and intake of vitamins and protein (milk and eggs). Results: The results of community service showed that participants knew and understood stunting and the factors that caused it; however, prevention methods that were not implemented led to an increase in the stunting rate in Mekar Sari Village, reaching 11 children from examination data until October 2023. The results of this activity also showed an increase in participants’ understanding. Protein and vitamin intake is one way to prevent stunting. Limitations: This activity was carried out on only 32 target people, including pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and mothers with toddlers. Contribution: The counseling and assistance activities for the Mekar Sari Village community need to be carried out consistently because they contribute to increased awareness of health problems, especially stunting prevention, in order to reduce the stunting rate.

Family Roles and Support in Preventing Stunting: A Systematic Review

Background: Stunting is inadequacy in physical growth. Stunting can be detrimental to children under five as it causes low intelligence, decreased endurance, and inhibited growth and development. This will increase risk of infections and non-communicable diseases in adulthood. The optimal implementation of family roles supports the improvement of nutritional status in toddlers so it can reduce the incidence of stunting.Method: This systematic review is written in accordance to the PRISMA guidelines. The process includes analysis on online articles from databases of ScienceDirect, PubMed, and Google Scholar for the past five years the period from 2019 with the keywords "stunting and parents or family".Results: There are researches from eight articles related to the role and support of families in preventing stunting. Based on several syntheses reviewed, it was determined that culture can be an inhibiting factor in preventing stunting. Still, with local wisdom, it can also be a catalyst in reducing stunting itself. Culture is one of the specific nutrition interventions that can reduce the prevalence of stunting by emphasizing aspects of a mother as the “center of life”, family roles and support, and the role of fathers in preventing stunting. Families have an important role to play in preventing and managing the problem of stunting. Families play an important role in preventing stunting at every stage of life from fetus in the womb, to newborn, toddler, teenager, married, pregnant, and so on. Therefore, efforts to empower families are necessary.

Specific nutritional intervention for IBD has a crucial role in preventing and managing disease activity. This review addresses epigenetic modifications through dietary compounds as a mechanism for modulating the intestinal microbiota of patients with IBD.
