Una nueva especie y un nuevo registro de Dryinus Latreille, 1804 (Hymenoptera: Dryinidae) de Uruguay

Dryinus Latreille, the most diverse genus of Dryininae (Hymenoptera: Dryinidae), has a worldwide distribution with 268 extant species, of which 103 are reported from the Neotropics. Only eight species of Dryinidae have been recorded in Uruguay, none of them belong to genus Dryinus. In this study, we describe the first species of Dryinus in Uruguay, Dryinus rogeriae nov. sp. and expanded the geographical distribution of D. bocainanus (Olmi) based on specimens collected in eastern Uruguay. We illustrate the studied species and provide a distributional map.

First Bocchus Ashmead (Hymenoptera: Dryinidae) from Upper Eocene Rovno amber: B. schmalhauseni sp. nov.

A new species of pincer wasps, Bocchus schmalhauseni sp. nov. (Dryinidae) is described from Rovno amber (Ukraine). The amber piece was collected in the Vladimirets District in the north-west of the Rovno region. Taking into account this new record, a total of five species of Dryinidae are registered from Rovno amber. A key to the fossil species of Bocchus Ashmead is presented. The possible reasons for the different distribution of Dryinus species on both coasts of Subparathetys are discussed.

Host makes the difference: the effect of two planthopper host species on host-feeding and parasitism activities of the pincer wasp Gonatopus bonaerensis

Females of Gonatopus bonaerensis Virla (Hym.: Dryinidae), a parasitoid of Delphacidae (Hemiptera), practices host-feeding. It was demonstrated for several species of Dryinidae that host mortality caused by host-feeding is greater than that caused by parasitism. Here we investigated the effect of host species, host age, and the age of female parasitoids on both parasitism and host-feeding rates throughout the female lifetime. Experiments were done exposing the planthoppers Delphacodes sitarea Remes Lenicov & Teson, the most common host, and Peregrinus maidis (Ashmead), an occasional host. The hosts have a very strong influence on biological traits and on the behavior of this pincer wasp. Females of G. bonaerensis lived longer in presence of D. sitarea. Faced with its usual host, the parasitoid killed more planthoppers by parasitism than by host-feeding, but in front of its occasional host, predation prevailed. Regardless of the host, younger nymphs were the most attacked both for host-feeding and oviposition.

Dryinidae and Embolemidae (Hymenoptera, Chrysidoidea) from Anijima, Ogasawara Islands, Japan

The fauna of Dryinidae and Embolemidae from Anijima in Ogasawara Islands, Japan is surveyed. Five species of Dryinidae and one of Embolemidae. Gonatopus adelphos Mita & Olmi, sp. nov. and Ampulicomorpha viator Mita & Olmi, sp. nov. are described and illustrated. Gonatopus tambiniae (Esaki & Hashimoto) is recorded for the first time from Anijima. Anteon achterbergi Olmi, Gonatopus nigricans (R. Perkins) are recorded for the first time from Ogasawara Islands. The male of Dryinus sinicus Olmi is described for the first time. Gonatopus hagoromo Terayama & Ohbayashi is considered junior synonymous of Gonatopus tambiniae (Esaki & Hashimoto).

Two new species of Dryinidae (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea) from areas of Atlantic Rainforest at São Paulo State, Brazil.

Two new species of Dryinidae are described and illustrated Dryinus auratus Martins, Lara, Perioto & Olmi sp. nov. and Gonatopus mariae Martins, Lara, Perioto & Olmi sp. nov., both from areas of Atlantic Rainforest at São Paulo State, Brazil. Keys to species are provided.

Catalogue of the Dryinidae and Sclerogibbidae (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea) of Belize, with description of two new species

Eighteen species of Dryinidae and one species of Sclerogibbidae are listed from Belize. Two new species of Dryinidae,Anteon dykeae Olmi, sp. nov. and Dryinus schueeppi Olmi, sp. nov., are described from Belize, Corozal District. Keys toNeotropical species of Anteon and Dryinus are modified and include new species. Nine species of Dryinidae and one spe-cies of Sclerogibbidae are newly recorded from Belize. New records of Dryinidae are: four species from Panama, two spe-cies from Paraguay, and one species from Colombia, Mexico, Honduras, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia and French Guiana. The dryinid and sclerogibbid fauna of Belize is still under-sampled and insufficiently known.

A Catalogue of Dryinidae, Embolemidae and Sclerogibbidae of Kenya and Burundi, with Descriptions of New Species (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea)

The following new species of Dryinidae are described from Kenya: Anteoninae: Anteon bytebieri, A. copelandi, A. shimbanum, A. whartoni: Dryininae: Dryinus copelandi, D. shimbanus; Gonatopodinae: Gonatopus baginei. The following new species of Embolemidae are described: Ampulicomorpha nzigidaherai, from Burundi and Kenya; Embolemus burundensis, from Burundi. Updated checklists of Dryinidae, Embolemidae and Sclerogibbidae of Kenya and Burundi are presented. Embolemidae are recorded for the first time in Kenya and Burundi. With the above new records, 39 species of Dryinidae, four species of Embolemidae and 12 species of Sclerogibbidae are now known from Kenya, and two species of Dryinidae, three species of Embolemidae and one species of Sclerogibbidae are known from Burundi.

New Species of South African Dryinidae (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea)

The following new species of Dryinidae (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea) are described from South Africa: Aphelopus mostovskii, A. vernonensis, Anteon sanyatense, A. ngoyense, Dryinus daviesi, Gonatopus ntumenensis. A checklist of Dryinidae known in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, is presented. New host records are made for Gonatopus nearcticus, G. communis, and G. guigliae.

Descriptions of new species of Dryinidae (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea) from Thailand

Eight new species of Dryinidae (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea) are described from Thailand, namely Aphelopus thai; Anteon phuphayonense, semipolitum, khaokhoense, doiense, phetchabunense; Pseudodryinus thai; Neodryinus phuphayonensis. The holotypes are deposited in the collections of Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden, Chiang Mai, Thailand. The keys to the Oriental Aphelopus, Anteon, Pseudodryinus and Neodryinus are modified.

Description of two new species of Dryinidae (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea) from Argentina

The following new species of Dryinidae (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea) from Argentina are described: Anteon nicolasi and Gonatopus julianae. Changes in the key to the Neotropical Anteon and Gonatopus are proposed.

A Contribution to the Knowledge of Dryinidae (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea) of Northern Mozambique

The twenty one species of Dryinidae known so tar from Mozambique were collected in southern provinces (Maputo and Gaza). From 1999 to 2003 the author collected and reared several species in northern Mozambique (Niassa, Nampula and Zambezia provinces), resulting in the discovery of four new species of Dryinidae ( Dryinus zambeziacus; Gonatopus cuambensis, G. macua and G. niassensis). The males of Gonatopus ridens Olmi and Gonatopus acutus (Olmi) were reared, so that they are here described for the first time. The other fifteen collected species are new records from Mozambique ( Dryinus undulatus (Benoit), D. spangleri Olmi; Gonatopus afer (Olmi), G. obscurus (Olmi), G. nearcticus (Fenton), G. bekilyanus (Benoit), G. ceres (Olmi)) or from Northern Mozambique ( Anteon kawandanum Olmi; Gonatopus ochreus (Olmi), G. mossambicus Olmi, G. varipes Brues, G. incognitos Olmi, G. communis Olmi, G. faustae Olmi, G. guigliae (Benoit)).

Gonatopus orangensis:a new species of Dryinidae from South Africa (Hymenoptera Chrysidoidea)

Gonatopus orangensis, a new species of Dryinidae from South Africa, is described. A revision of the Ethiopian species of the Gonatopus somerseti (Olmi) group is proposed.

A contribution to the knowledge of Dryinidae (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea) and Strepsiptera of Mozambique(*)

Only twelve species of Dryinidae and no species of Strepsiptera are known so far from Mozambique. In 1993–1996 the author collected and reared several species there, resulting in the discovery of three new species of Dryinidae (Gonatopus mossambicus, G. faustae and G. gazensis) and 10 known species of which 5 are new records from Mozambique [Dryinus orophilus (Benoit), Gonatopus similis Brues, G. rubripes (Olmi), G. capensis Brues and G. guigliae (Benoit)]. A new combination and a new name (Gonatopus maputensis) are proposed for Paradicondylus australis Olmi. The males of Gonatopus maputensis, G. communis Olmi, G. rubripes and G. guigliae are described for the first time. The author also reared the following Strepsiptera: Elenchus tenuicornis (Kirby) from Toya propinqua (Fieber) and Halictophagus australensis Perkins from Cofana spectra Distant (new records from Mozambique).

Taxonomic studies on the Dryinidae of Mozambique (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea)

Abstract Only three species of Dryinidae were known so far from Mozambique. In 1985 and 1992 the author collected and reared several species there, resulting in the discovery of three new species (Gonatopus festivus, G. amoenus and Paradicondylus australis) and 9 known species of which 7 are new records from Mozambique (Anteon afrum Olmi, Echthrodelphax migratorius Benoit, Gonatopus varipes Brues, G. ochreus Olmi, G. incognitus Olmi, G. ridens Olmi, and G. communis Olmi). Gonatopus festivus, sp. nov. and Paradicondylus australis, sp. nov. were reared from Nisia nervosa (Mots.) (Meenoplidae), reporting dryinids parasitizing Meenoplidae for the first time. Also the male of Gonatopus varipes is described for the first time.

New Dryinidae from Sulawesi and Taiwan (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea)

Abstract The following new species of Dryinidae are described: Anteon heppneri and martiale from Taiwan; Anteon cerberum, flaccum and subdignum; Thaumatodryinus noyesi; Dryinus alboniger and mansus from Sulawesi. The male of Lonchodryinus sinensis Olmi is described from Taiwan.

Life Histories of Acanalonia bivittata and A. conica1 with Descriptions of Immature Stages2

The life histories of Acanalonia bivittata (Say) and A. conica (Say) were investigated in southern Illinois, and the immature stages were described. Both species were also reared in the laboratory. A. bivittata and A. conica are univoltine, feed on a wide variety of woody and herbaceous plants, and overwinter as eggs inserted in woody vegetation. A. bivittata was reared on green beans and walnut leaves, A. conica on green beans and redbud leaves. Total development time averaged 212.3 and 311.1 days for A. bivittata and A. conica, respectively. Nymphs of both species are attacked by one or more unidentified species of Dryinidae. A. conica nymphs are parasitized by a mite, Leptus sp., and adults and nymphs are parasitized by an epipyropid moth, Epipyrops barberiana Dyar.
