“Spring Nostalgia” is a classic piece among Huang Tzu’s art songs. The refined lyrics and beautiful melody demonstrate Huang Tzu’s skillful integration of Western compositional techniques with elements of traditional Chinese music. This paper analyzes the song’s lyrical imagery, musical form structure, and piano accompaniment. Additionally, it compares the live performance by Liao Changyong, baritone singer, with the studio recording by Dilber Yunus, soprano singer, offering insights for singers to perform the piece better.

Analysis of the "patriotic feelings" and singing of the chinese art song "Wang Xiang Ci"

"Wang Xiang Ci" is one of the representative works of Chinese art songs, composed by the renowned composer Lu Zaiyi to the poem "Wang Da Lu" by the calligrapher Yu Youren. This article discusses various aspects of "Wang Xiang Ci", including its creation background, musical form, musical language, and emotional expression. Through the exploration of the use of national musical elements, the stratification of emotional expression, and the discussion of technique and artistic expression in singing practice, the article further clarifies the expression of the theme of home and country in the song; It also explores how to better convey the sentiment of home and country in singing practice.

Francesco Paolo Tosti Related Literature Review of the Creation and Singing Research of the Works

Among the many excellent and classic European art songs, the Italian composer Francesco Paolo Tosti's art songs are favored and respected by the singers. Francesco Paolo Tosti focuses on the creation of vocal music works. In the development history of Italian vocal music art, his creation is like a sea of pearls, waiting for us to analyze, study and explore. First of all, I based on 's vocal music works, analyzes his creative techniques and explores his creative logic. Secondly, through the induction of his musical style through his creative techniques. Finally, I will discuss the role of his vocal music works on singing training. By focusing on these topics, my research interest will be broadened in the wider academic literature.

The Artistic Characteristics and Singing Analysis of the Ancient Poetry Art Song Ru Meng Ling

Art songs based on classical Chinese poetry began to emerge in the 1920s and have since become a common and significant genre in contemporary Chinese vocal music. This genre uniquely combines Western compositional techniques with ancient Chinese poetry, resulting in songs that feature piano accompaniments and melodies that align with the emotional trajectory of the lyrics while also embedding the deep cultural heritage of China. These songs embody the enduring beauty of Chinese culture, with long, melodious tunes and a timeless ancient charm. Whether in the process of tracing their origins, studying them, or performing them, people are invariably moved by their cultural significance, thereby enhancing cultural identity and confidence. This genre adds a vibrant hue to the development of modern music. This paper focuses on Li Qingzhao's poem "Like a Dream: Often Remembering the Sunset at the Creek Pavilion" and the art song "Like a Dream" composed by Wang Chao. Using literature research, score analysis, and inductive methods, the paper explores and reflects on the song from two perspectives: its artistic characteristics and vocal performance analysis.

Vocal Techniques and Musical Literacy in the Singing of Chinese Gu Shi Ci Art Songs

Chinese Gu Shi Ci art songs are a genre that combines ancient Chinese poetry with music, reflecting profound emotional depth and cultural ethos. The primary objective is to investigate the integration of vocal techniques and musical literacy in the performance of Chinese Gu Shi Ci art songs. The study conducted at Nanchang University and the China Conservatory of Music involved interviews and observations with five key informants: professors, vocal coaches, professional singers, music educators, and opera performers. Data analysis included transcribing interviews, coding for recurring themes, and cross-referencing observational data. The findings reveal that precise vocal techniques, such as breath control and tone modulation, and a deep understanding of the poems’ contexts significantly enhance performance authenticity and emotional resonance. The study underscores the need for an integrated curriculum in music education that combines technical skills with cultural and literary education. It suggests incorporating historical context modules, technical workshops, interdisciplinary approaches, performance analysis, and practical opportunities to foster a comprehensive understanding of Gu Shi Ci art songs. This approach can deepen students’ appreciation and ensure the rich cultural heritage of these songs continues to resonate with contemporary audiences.

Musical Style and Performance Analysis of Huang Zi’s Art Song Homesickness

Starting from the innovative approach operated by Hans Hunfeld and the more recent evidence by Mirco Magnani, this paper deals with the use of literary texts in language education, among which poetic texts are no exception. The present paper aims specifically to argue that even popular songs can place their lyrics as a model for language learning, most notably after considering the recipients of education within a broad objective of inclusivity. The use of songs in linguistic education for Italian as a Second or Foreign Language is already known, but it deals mostly with the classical melodramma or Italian art song. However, here it will be argued that even contemporary music spread among teenagers and youths can belong to the education program for languages. This paper presents the drill music lyrics of Louboutin (2020) by Vale Pain and Rondo da Sosa as a less orthodox but not less valid instrument to teach and learn Italian for foreigners.

Genre and style models of contemporary Ukrainian vocal and choral music

The relevance of the study of the chosen topic is conditioned by the fact that a wide panorama of compositions in the field of vocal and choral music appears, reflecting the modern process of reviving the national culture of Ukraine. The variety of their content, concepts, and structures contributes to the popularization of the spiritual and creative heritage of the Ukrainian people, which requires special research in modern conditions. The purpose of the study is to identify genre features and stylistic patterns that characterize the works of the vocal and choral branch of musical art. In the course of the study, methods of analysis, comparison, and synthesis were used. As a result, genre models of vocal and choral compositions of small (painting; prayer; monologue; song; arrangement) and large forms (cantata, choral concert suite, vocal and instrumental cycle, choral cycle) were discovered. The leading stylistic components of modern vocal and choral compositions were established, their content was emphasized (synthesis of elements of archaic play (action); folk songs; spiritual chant and modal, classical tonal, chromatic sound systems in small forms; a unique author’s idea, processing of primary sources from folk song art and church services based on a wide range of different fret and technical systems in large forms). The study's conclusions confirm the utilization of folk, church, and academic traditions, both past and present, alongside structural, compositional, technical, intonational, and rhythmic elements from various musical genres and cultures in vocal and choral compositions of the first quarter of the 21st century

Fostering Pedagogical Excellence: Theoretical Foundations for Designing a Teaching Module on Chinese Ancient Poetry Art Songs for Undergraduate Students in China

This paper explored the fundamental theoretical aspects involved in creating a comprehensive teaching module tailored for undergraduate students in China, with a specific emphasis on Chinese ancient poetry art songs. The process of constructing an effective teaching module was intricate, demanding a thorough exploration of various models and educational theories that laid the foundation for its development. The paper offered an overview of the theoretical framework employed in this undertaking, incorporating the ADDIE Model and key educational theories such as Jean Piaget's Constructivist Theory, Lev Vygotsky's Sociocultural Theory, and Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences. The ADDIE Model provided a structured approach to module development, guiding the systematic design, implementation, and evaluation phases to ensure that teaching materials were well-organized, efficient, and adaptable to diverse learning environments. Furthermore, the paper delved into the educational theories influencing the design of the teaching module. Piaget's Constructivist Theory emphasized active learning through hands-on experiences, Vygotsky's Sociocultural Theory underscored the role of social interaction and cultural context in learning, emphasizing collaborative learning experiences, and Gardner's Multiple Intelligences theory recognized the diversity of students' cognitive strengths, emphasizing the need for varied instructional strategies to cater to different learning styles. Through the integration of these theoretical foundations, this research aimed to develop a comprehensive, engaging, and effective educational resource tailored to the unique needs and learning preferences of students. The anticipated outcome of the teaching module was to enable educators to cultivate a greater understanding and appreciation of Chinese ancient poetry art songs among students.

Traditional Music of Kazakhstan in the Second Half of the 20th Century: Using the Example of Folk Song Art in the Northern Region of Kazakhstan

The historical development of folk music lays the foundations for modern compositions, the study of previous experience can help to qualitatively develop the modern musical sphere, emphasizing the uniqueness of traditional art. The main purpose of this study is to identify and analyse the characteristic features of the music of Kazakhstan, as well as to generalize the available knowledge. In the presented work, archive materials of several ethnographic expeditions of the folklore laboratory Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory in the Torgai-Kostanay region, made from 1975 to 1989, are considered. It is taken into account that many widespread traditional musical cultures, representing a single integral, within themselves will have several ramifications. In this regard, Kazakh traditional music is not an isolated case, as it is currently divided into the following folk-professional schools: Sary-Arka, Jetysu, Kyzylorda and Western Kazakhstan. The name of each listed tradition is associated with territorial identification. For several years in Kazakhstani musicology, up to the present day, many researchers have been engaged in the study of the above-mentioned regional traditions. The works of the second half of the XX century were analysed, as well as the main differences and aspects of music writing. The paper identifies the influence of the main factors that contributed to the creation of the works, as well as a generalized analysis of the composers’ stylization. The study will provide a better understanding of the features and aspects of musical folklore, which helps to popularize and raise awareness of the subject.
